What made this place stand out to me the most was the bartender whipped up the most absolute AMAZING espresso martini I've ever had. I heard about this place on a podcast (ITM) and wanted to go to a celebratory dinner somewhere new. The drive to Blaine was super easy, the location is convenient, and there is ample parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. Exceptional restaurant in Blaine! We were staying at Semiahmoo for our anniversary weekend, and heard bad things about the restaurant on site, and another commenter recommended The Vault. SO glad we chose them for our anniversary dinner! We were parking our rv trailers across the street from this gem, with the idea to walk around town and find a place for breakfast with our family. All of a sudden a gentleman walked out of this establishment and asked us where we were heading and told us they were serving Sunday brunch. We decided to take him up on it and boy we did not regret our decision. Firstly, I NEVER write reviews but this needs to be known. Also, I have worked as a server for over 10 years so this experience felt like the twilight zone. We came for dinner on a Saturday night, while I was visiting from out of town. We sat down and it was awkward from the beginning. It was unclear who our server was, because at least 2 people had sort of come by. We ordered drinks, and I ordered a ginger beer. I was then told glass had been broken into the ice machine, and was it ok if my drink didn't have ice. Sure no problem, but why would you tell a guest you broke a glass into ice? Just figure it out. It was as if they were allergic to the table and took a very long time to come back to even take our order. It wasn't super busy but all the servers seemed to be inside, laughing and looking at their phones rather than taking care of the 1 of 3 tables. Our server didn't return and I had to let a different person know we were ready to order. 2 servers came over and proceeded to have a conversation about who was going to take the order within earshot and it was really awkward. The woman who took our order was asked about a wine and her response was " I have no idea" which she must've said at least 3 times. Ok, I get you're new but if you don't know go ask someone who does! The food came out pretty much all at once even though we had ordered salads. Throughout the meal no one came to check on us or clear plates. We were excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. Fabulous food! We went for brunch and got the frittata, corn waffle with brisket and pancakes with rhubarb compote. Everything was delicious. The frittata was pure perfection, but the star was the pancakes...never had any pancakes like those before! My only suggestion would be a poached egg on top of the waffle brisket dish for some moisture and added richness. We are super excited to try their dinner menu. Everything was outstanding! We had the potato carrot soup that was creamy, flavorful and so elegantly served. We also had "Tea for Two" cocktails that had several flavors going on but EACH flavor was so perfectly paired, one did not over power the other, they were well balanced. The drink made for a pleasant treat to sip on. The servers all had a genuine smile and kindness to them and made sure we were taken care of. Lastly, the atmosphere was perfect! We were looking for a different type of restaurant, fortunately we visited the Vault 2 days before in Blaine just for a wine tasting. That's when we found out they offer this dinner with wine pairing. All 5 courses were delicious. The wines paired with the courses were also good matches. The only thing I would recommend is that they serve bread with the clams. I never had clams or mussels without bread, it's part of the fun to dip the broth with bread . Great Dinner at The Vault!! Date night Saturday and we went to the Vault in Blaine. We haven't been in a while and chose to see what was new. I'm so glad we did! We ordered a glass of White Pinot Noir, a crab cake Caesar salad, Shepherd's Pie and the Veggie Lasagne. Everything was amazing! The star of the show was the lasagne - delicious and big enough for two. The woman who took care of us (I'm so sorry - we forgot her name!) was super nice and helpful too! When we finished and got into the car, we turned to each other to talk about how great the meal was and the owner, Dave, came out to chat and thank us for coming in tonight, which was a nice touch to end the meal. Tonight was a home-run at the Vault. We already are making plans to go back with more family and friends. I highly recommend eating there! One last thing - I haven't seen a better wine list around - Excellent choices and very reasonable wine mark-ups. read more

Tonight was date night and we decided to try somewhere new, The Vault Wine bar in Blaine. This place was very easy to find and had a ton of free parking. Inside is one main open seating area, a couple private rooms off to the side that appeared to be for private tastings, and a large outside patio. The outdoor patio where we chose to sit, had a ton of seating, shade umbrellas, and patio heaters. You could hear the live music just as well outside as inside. A band playing jazzy, easy listening music played the entire time we were there. We each ordered the red wine flight, as well as the brownie sundae. The pours were average. The selections on the flight were just ok, but neither of us would pick them to re-order. The brownie sundaes were amazing. HUGE portions, neither my husband or I could finish it. If you get this, I recommend one to share. We missed happy hour, 3-6 pm, but I would recommend hitting them up for the "PETITE CHEESE AND CHARCUTERIE BOARD WITH A BOTTLE OF RED, WHITE, ROSE OR SPARKLING WINE for $20" offered during happy hour. Service was 5+ stars. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. They offered to adjust umbrellas on the porch, as well as lighting overhead heaters for the tables wanting them. The cherry on top was when warm blankets were brought out for everyone on the patio who wanted one. The place is beautiful. Wonderful live edge tables. Comfortable seats. Lovely art on the walls. All of that doesn't mask the quality of the food, sadly. The $18 pasta was bland - it tasted like it was simply boiled without any seasoning. The squash had a similar problem - extremely bland with tasteless lentils. With drinks the bill was $60! It felt like robbery. The waitress didn't bother asking us if we liked the food - I'm assuming she already knows it's not good. Very disappointed. Update: the owner below states that he came up to us. I can categorically say that did NOT happen. We only interacted with the waitress. I confirmed this with my wife. Burger was advertised as waygu - not even close. We all decided (after the gratuity business of 20% - added AFTER tax) none of us would return. I just had two (2) of their special 'To-Go' dinners. They were Great!! Since the Covid-19 menace has descended upon us, The Vault has closed their restaurant. In its place they have partnered with the Chef behind Bread in Blaine ( Instagram @breadinblaine), Mark Johnson, to offer us some very delectable dinners. Unlike other ToGo offerings where you pickup the food hot and it is cold before you get home. The offerings at The Vault are fully cooked and refrigerated. This means you can go home fire up your oven ( or if you must a microwave) and heat them up at home. Delivering to you and yours a hot meal. This meal include main course, vegetables (my mom is happy), bread and sometimes desert. Highly recommended if you are tired of your cooking (or your roommate's cooking) Came back to dine at the restaurant tonight. They worked hard to maintain social distancing and masks. However, the food oh the food was spot on. You must try the Cioppino. It was heavenly. Plus the new deconstructed lemon bar is a wonder. read more

Trivia night was the main reason for going to The Vault in downtown Blaine, WA. For about 2 hours, the audience of about 30 was kept fully engaged with 3 rounds of 10 questions. All the players were so good, the owner of the restaurant had to get more prizes (bottles of wine). There is no cover, but food and/or beverage purchases are required. Our team of three had a stuffed pear, mac and cheese, smoked chicken sandwich, Shepherd's Pie, and for dessert, Petits Fours.
