    Gambas Papas bravas

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Perro Negro. It is a cool tapa bar located upstairs in Ferris Oyster Bar. The decor is charming and creates a cozy atmosphere. The service was great, with attentive and friendly staff! We tried the gambas without chorizo, papas bravas, broccolini with the romesco sauce, and the roasted carrots. Each dish was flavourful and cooked to perfection. The gambas were a personal favourite. If you're a fan of tapas and small plates, do yourself a favour and visit Perro Negro! You won't be disappointed.

Couldn't love Perro Negro more! We enjoyed our daughters Birthday dinner here on St. Patrick's day and will definitely be back! Our favorite thing on the menu was the Atun Crudo! I will crave it until the next time. My daughters favorite was the Burrata! Everything was equally amazing and the service was out of this World. Thank you for offering such a lovely experience!!!

When this restaurant is described as a hidden gem, they mean both that: 1). This restaurant is hidden; and 2). This restaurant is a gem. Hidden in that it took me forever to even find it. I went into the restaurant that it sits on top of and thought I was at Perro Negro, but they directed me outside, through a narrow door, upstairs, and to the bar, I went to sit. It is partially located in another restaurant. But make no mistake, it is a gem. The bar is located near the kitchen, so I had the treat of watching them make my food (and train kitchen staff). The wines here are great. They did have spanish wines including a great Tempranillo, and cocktails inspired by traditional latin and Spanish drinks. Had the oysters - and those were delicious. They were fresh, well presented, and just fantastically delicious. Great service (including talking to the chef), and a cute cozy but clean modern decor, and of course delicious food. I recommend it if you can find it. Consider the items on the menu your reward for doing so.

Terrific tapas and wine restaurant. Really good to having a good time with friends and relatives. Don't lose the opportunity to order the croquetas and the jamon serrano. We had bread and Spanish olive oil with jamon and great wine.

Upscale Taperia. Good wine and beer selection. Not much on the alcohol free menu. Double down on the octopus and skip the rockfish.

The bun was incredibly fresh, light, and pillowy, while the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect balance of richness and tang from the kimchi. The pickled vegetables added a bright crunch that tasted incredibly fresh. We started with the salmon tartare, and it was phenomenal! Rich, buttery, bursting with flavor, and so good we were literally fighting over the last bite. And the scallop? Order one for each person. Seriously. It's far too delicious to share. It had just the right amount of heat, leaving the perfect lingering warmth that immediately made us want another. Do yourself a favor and give yourself enough time to work your way through the menu, because every dish we tried was outstanding. Each plate was thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and cooked to perfection. I like to call it the C³ trifecta: curated, created, and cooked. Without question, this is some of the best food we've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back (when visiting) and continue eating our way through the rest of the menu.

Ambiance was great - super warm and welcoming which was magnified by the host. Super lovely. Then the wait staff. Whoever is hiring/training is doing a great job! We also sat right beside the pick up window so it was fun seeing food come out! The food was fantastic. See pictures for what we ordered. Not sure if I can remember the names of everything but it was a perfect combo!!

There was an interesting smell at the entrance when we first walked in, but luckily we were seated in the back room. As recommended, we ordered family style to try a variety of dishes. Endive salad - can't really go wrong with the classic combination of apple walnut and goat cheese, however many larger pieces of endive were quite bitter. tater tots - nice presentation with the cubes. The tots were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Paired well with the jalapeño ranch, and the lumpfish caviar was a fun addition. Beef tartare- the beef was fresh and flavor was good overall. However the toast was only cut in half, made it hard to eat or cut into. Middle of the toast also got a little too soft from the juice. Fried chicken - solid fried chicken, the meat is tender and well seasoned, crispy on the outside. The semolina cube didn't add much for me, but the 3 hot sauce added a nice balance of heat and acidity. Ling cod - The fish was tender and cooked well. Surprisingly, the cabbage really stood out. Service was a bit slow, we had to flag down our server for refills. Overall we enjoyed our meal, every dish was well prepared, but nothing truly stood out as memorable. We did appreciate it being farm-to-table, and the commitment to source ingredients locally.

We made a reservation ahead of time and they were still quite busy until about 9:45pm. We ordered a variety of dishes family style, which is the right move. Service for our table was honestly a bit slow; we had to flag down someone for a refill multiple times. The interior smelled a bit funny near the entrance but luckily we got sat down into the back room. The interior was a very dark, date night vibe. Endive 3/5. Not the biggest fan of the salad; they also picked some larger leaves of endive which made it bitter. It was a very light dish with the goat cheese, walnut, and apple. Tater tots 4/5. Fried potato hash brown cubes paired with a ranch sauce with lumpfish caviar. Decent dish, we enjoyed it but it could've used some acidity. Beef tartare 3.5/5. Solid tartare but the bread needed to be cut into more bite sized pieces and this style of bread also ended up soaking up a lot of the raw meat juices. Ling cod 4.5/5. The fish was tender and cooked well. The best item on this dish was the cabbage, which was very well seasoned. Fried chicken 4/5. Solid fried chicken paired with semolina cubes. Overall we enjoyed the meal. Not every dish was a hit but the farm to table concept is much appreciated for being in Victoria BC and sourcing meats and produce from nearby or in Abbotsford.

We called around and other places didn't have any spots open until after 9pm so we booked on Open Table easily a few hours before. From the moment we arrived everything was great. Hostess was courteous and seated us quickly. Our server was friendly and prompt and checked on us regularly to make sure everything was great. We ordered oysters, double smash burger,Seafood Tagiatelle, Laksa and the Steamed Mussels and Clams with fries. Everything was awesome but the oysters stole the show. The next day, while my wife and oldest and youngest were out on a bike tour, I stopped back at Ferris' with my middle since she was sick and we did takeout for her the night before (extra Laksa). We sat at the bar and order three half dozen oysters and tucked it up with Will the bartender and the rest of the staff as it was happy hour and not too busy. I asked questions about Canadian musicians and we played a game of guess the Canadian artist on Spotify. Again, the oysters were wonderful and the beers were the perfect company to wash down the briny mollusks. We left to meet up with the rest of the family. Upon hearing of our exploits back at Ferris' we all decided to head back to catch the end of happy hour and have dinner. Well five more dozen oysters, chowder, beers later, we finally had our fill and happily rolled out of there and back to our hotel. If you're looking for fresh oysters in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere check this place out. The staff is engaging and the food is top notch. Would definitely recommend!

We were able to grab same-day reservations for 8pm on a July 4th weekend. The ambiance is nice, with options for bar seating, larger tables, or two tops. Not loud at all. Attentive and friendly service. Seems like a solid date spot or girls night out location. Overall I'd consider this a 4.2 - 4.5 spot. What we ordered: the scallion milk buns (I'd skip), scallop aguachile (best of what we ordered), sesame prawn sando (I'd skip, lacking in distinctive flavor), tuna & green garlic tartare (decent, kind of odd pairing with saltine crackers which lowered the flavor), and the pork & takana tagliatelle (very savory and flavorful, but in a "melted cheeseburger over pasta" way that could be too creamy and rich for a more sensitive stomach).
