Hello, this spot was are second dinner reservation while in the Vancouver metro area We are at the beginning of a 12-day cruise adventure down the Pacific Coast. 75 West Coast Grill is the main dining space for the Marriott Hotel near Vancouver airport. On our visit it was not busy, bso, we were seated immediately. The front of the house staff were welcoming and cordial. We ordered our libations, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and an Old Fashioned. Both hit the right spot! Next up were the appetizers, charred Brussel Sprouts and Truffle Fries. They were a great way to start this dinner. Seasoned perfectly and quite tasty. Our entrees consisted of a Seafood Cioppino with Salmon, Mussels, and Halibut, as well as potatoes, red onions, and cherry tomatoes. My wife chose the. Grilled Salmon with quinoa, tomato, and a butter sauce. Bother were perfectly prepared and did not require additional seasoning. The Salmon was moist and flaky and the seafood stew right on point. My wife had the Apple Strueddle dessert which was great! I had a taste and loved the mixture of spices. For a hotel restaurant we were surprised at the quality of the food preparation. read more

Came on a Sunday for brunch! Menu is very simple - BOTTOMLESS BENNYS! Either $21 for endless Classic Benny or $24 for other varieties like Short Rib, Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon and Feature Benny. Only the first order comes with fries. All different varieties of bennys are good. Cute brunch idea for sure - how many eggs can you put in a basket? read more

The restaurant is located within the Marriott hotel property. It is huge and is easily accessible whether you are a hotel guest or not. It is well decorated with lots of natural light. Chris and I decided to have dinner here we have been out and about all day. We sat at the bar as it was still early in the evening and the place wasn't busy. It was happy hour so we shared the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings and Calamari to start with. The wings were awesome! Crispy and tasty, lightly breaded - definitely one of the best we've had. The calamari was okay. I wasn't as crispy as I thought it would be but it had great flavor. We shared the Seafood Bowl (market price, they charged us $50 CAD) for it. It had plenty of clams, mussels, shrimps and fish. Definitely a shareable entree. The staff were friendly and the bartender was attentive. The next morning, we ate here for breakfast before heading to the pier to board our ship. The place was packed but the staff were still attentive and very welcoming. read more

Hotel bar/lounge in the lobby of the Marriott. Parking is plentiful in the hotel lot. The place is modern but plain. In other words, probably good for business type functions. Staff were friendly. There were some summer drinks specials when my friend and I went. The beer selection is somewhat decent but nothing special. The sangria was pretty tasty though. read more

Delicious food options. I enjoyed the veggie burger and everything in it. It was quite a mouthful. The fries were good too. Our server, who was mentioned in other reviews, serves as bartender and had a delightful sense of humor as well as great recommendations for food and drink. We had a window table that gave us a view of life on the streets and made us feel at home. read more

Food was very good and well portioned. Ordered the turkey avocado sandwich and my wife had a bowel of their seafood chowder. The sandwich was piled high with meat and plenty of avocado to compliment the tomato and lettuce. Ate one half there and took home the other half. Wife's chowder was excellent. Plenty of stock in the bowel and the creamy soup was great. Prices were reasonable and service fast and welcoming. Location is close to local mall and everything is with a short walk read more

We went to his place for lunch on Saturday. This place is a small venue at a hotel with a bar on its side. On that day, we ordered from the main menu, instead of their brunch menu, since we had our breakfast early that day. For myself, I ordered the Roast Half Chicken. We waited for our dishes for almost an hour (kitchen trouble) and I was a little disappointed when the dishes arrived at our table. My dish tasted ok. It's typical home-made style home-made roast chicken. The meat is tender but definitely premade for a while and keep warm in some fixture. For a $35 dollar chicken dish, it was not worth the wait. Afterward, I have a few stomach issues for a few days too. Anyway, they need focus on a simplify menu and not an aiming for high class venue. read more

Pretty good lunch. Relatively inexpensive for the area. Good sandwiches. Loved the burger.

Decided to support local so headed over to this place by the Mariott.. Went for the happy hour which they have graciously extended from 5-8pm. Kept it simple as just wanted to sample some classics...salt and pepper wings, honey garlic wings, parmesan truffle fries...wine and brittania lager. Wings tasted really good. Nicely friend and made to order. Sauce wasnt too greasy. Simply delicious. Truffle fries were so so. They used store bought parmesan to sprinkle all over the fries. The truffle scent is just the oil used to fry the fries lol. Came with a mayo dip but no ketsup. So took 1 star away. Next reason was service was a bit slow. There was only 3 tables being occupied but the hostess was seem to be contented to just chit chat with other co-workers. The restaurant was closed for dinner due to covid. Hotel was only 40% occupancy. What a bummer covid is. But there was hand sanis al over the place, every staff member was wearing a mask, and place was spic and span. Wine was smooth and lager was crisp and refreshing! Cheers! Happy eating! read more

Happy hour and dinner was actually a 5 plus rating! From our arrival to the end of our meal it was top-notch service and food... kudos to our waitress Marie and chef who cooked all as we requested! We're not difficult to please, yet we were particular with our wine requests, down to the year on the bottle, and how we wanted the pasta, lamb chops and vegetables cooked.... perfectly done as we said via our waitress to the chef to us. We enjoyed a OKV Chardonnay and Quails Gate Cabernet Sauvignon with rack of lamb and halibut pasta, and hot bread... 2 types... and delicious flourless chocolate cake with celebration message scripted on the plate.... all so wonderful! I cannot say enough about the waitress... she was personable, checked year on wine bottles, spoke to us about British Columbia and we never felt rushed, truly able to enjoy the occasion! We will be back someday! read more

Familiar western hotel restaurant within a sea of eateries that can be a bit intimidating. Front of the house was welcoming and jovial. Poke was pretty good, not bland and starchy which ultimately killed that craze. The $35 CAD burger was presented well but the bun buckled under the sheer mass and all of the protein was overcooked. read more

The main floor restaurant is under renovation and the restaurant is operating out of a room in the Mariott Hotel upstairs. There were around 8 tables spread out and a large TV. I found it interesting that the restaurant was operating for the public, but hotel guests need to get their food somehow so might as well keep it open to the public as well? The free parking is still in effect - make sure to tell the greeter your license plate number. There is a brunch menu for weekends, despite what the website shows, running until 3 pm. My friends and I all got the ham & cheese omelette with hashbrowns and 2 pieces of toast of our choice (I chose rye). The portions were generous. The omelette was prepared well, but the cheese did not melt entirely. The hashbrowns were cut up potatoes and were lightly flavoured. The toast was buttered and had a nice crunch. Overall, the food was fine. The staff were a bit out of sorts as the new environment and operations takes some getting used to. It took several times for my friend to get her hot water and for us to get refills, but the waitress was very apologetic and polite. It's not the best food, but it'll do the job. I look forward to the restaurant reopening. read more

The made-to-order food is good, pricey for what you get though. Service is best described as efficient. I would avoid their breakfast buffet as guests typically reuse their plates. It's a bit unappetizing when you see someone else's food in the buffet station. They can at least put up a sign asking guests to take a new plate each time because I get that you can't control your guests. Their made-to-order stuff is probably safe. read more

I am loving this new transformation of the American Grille. It is more modern and spacious with the design allowing for natural light to pour in. Their updated look includes open spaces where you don't have to eat in the traditional dining room and you can move furniture around to your heart's desire. As an amateur food photographer, I am so thankful for the booths that don't have the harsh yellow light! Besides loving the new ambiance, the food is also a breath of fresh air! First off, they coupled their open space concept with share plates. Instead of being forced to order large entrees or tiny appetizers, you can now order small or large SHARE PLATES. Right now, they have a BOGO promo till the end of March for you to try. My family ordered 8 plates and we loved majority of them. 1) Halibut collar: MUST order. Don't be fooled by the charred look because the flesh was so tender and silky. Even when I brought it home as leftovers and reheated it in the oven, the halibut's meat was still so good (due to Halibut being a high fat content fish, so their oil keeps the meat flaky) 2) Mussels: I was expecting a typical white wine steamed mussels dish but it was something NEW and I wanted to order more. Plump and large mussels with a MANGO broth. I was in shock but I loved the combination of briny mussel juice with the sweet mango sauce. 3) Medium rare duck breast: This reminded me of the Chinese roasted duck because of the spices and orange peel they used for flavouring. Tender with a good chew, I loved the crispy skin too! Accompanying the duck were poached spiced pears that tasted like Christmas mule wine! I could eat a ton of those pear slices! 4) Tuna ceviche: when it arrived at my table, I was skeptical of how the ceviche would taste because I thought it was covered in mayo. However, I was wrong! The tuna was very fresh like sashimi and mixed in sour cream with avocado and other veggies. Instead of serving ceviches with taro or typical chips, they were EGGPLANT chips. Thinly sliced and crispy, those eggplant chips were excellent vessels! 5) Fried brussel sprouts, cauliflower: a fan favourite on the table and if your children are picky, they will definitely eat this up! Cheesy, crispy and saucy, I was happy to eat my veggies. Love the addition of truffle oil! 6) Seafood crab cakes: Thank you for using real crab meat. Not only was the crab cake fluffy, I saw big chunks of crab and not potatoes. 7) Lamb chops: The sauce really made this dish spectacular. I am a big fan of lamb so this one had no faults. 8) DESSERT: The chocolate tres leches cake was amazing and I appreciate the portion size a lot! The milk retained itself in the cake so well and made it super spongy and delicious. The flourless chocolate cake was not bad. It was more of a fudge/ganache consistency and was not too sweet. The apple streduel was actually the let down because it didn't have enough rum or cinnamon flavour but the gelato was luscious and full of vanilla bean flavour. Overall, I enjoyed majority of the share plates and guess what, I am going again next week! read more

75 West Coast Grill, formerly known as American Grill, opened its door to the public few months ago after a big renovation with the Vancouver Airport Marriott. I have never been to American Grill before, so I am not able to compare the decor between the two. But the revamp is definitely eye-catching. The earthy and marble decor and ambiance adds a comfortable and relaxing feel to the restaurant. 75 West Coast Grill features cuisine from the Pacific Northwest, with a combination of signature dishes that best represent Canada. The menu focuses on shared plates while having a wide selection of entrees, such as the recent feature of halibut. If you are only looking for a drink, you can choose from the extensive menu of wine, beer, and cocktail. I tried multiple shared plates, and my first favourite is the Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese. Using three different kinds of cheese, aged cheddar, mozzarella, and Gruyere cheese, the flavor is rich and creamy. And I really enjoy watching the endless cheese pull with this dish. The bougie part of this dish is the generous amount of lobster meat, so make sure you grab a bit of everything to enjoy the dish at its fullest. Fried Cauliflower & Brussel Sprouts is a classic appetizer to start off the meal. It is light and simple. Truffle oil is lightly coated on the vegetables, and they are seasoned with garlic, parmesan, and parsley. Spicy mayo is on the side as a dipping sauce. The seasoning is on point; however, I hope the Brussel sprouts are crispier to add a crunchy texture to the dish. Meat Balls is another classic tapas for most occasion. It uses pork, veal, and beef, which gives a tender and smooth texture. I hope the meatball itself has more flavor, maybe a pinch of salt or simmer in the roasted tomato sauce for a longer time. I have never tried Blackened Halibut Collars before, which I found unique to find the dish at 75 West Coast Grill. Chef Danilo recommends us to squeeze all the lemon juice out to season the halibut collars. The meat is tender and juicy, but unfortunately, there is not much flavor in the center. Otherwise, it would be such an amazing dish. Lamb Chops is my second favourite dish because 1) I love lamb 2) the seasoning is on point. Crushed peanuts and chimichurri sauce lies on the tender lamb chops. I recommend enjoying this dish with hands. It tastes so good that I can even lip off my fingers! Pork Belly Adobo is very similar to the Chinese crispy pork belly, but it is actually a Philippine dish. The pork belly was first braised, then fried. It is seasoned with soy sauce, vinegar, and spices. Pickled green papaya lightens the heaviness from the dish, as well as the garlic chips. The skin is crispy, and the meat is so tender that it melts in my mouth. Overall Impression Although I have never been to American Grill, the redesigned 75 West Coast Grill does not disappoint me. According to Chef Danilo, the menu keeps some signature and popular items from the old menu, as well as adding new components to it. I am surprised that my favourite dish is the Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese because it is not as heavy as I expected. It makes a perfect shared plate with small groups of friend. I also recommend the Lamb Chops, because it is tender and juicy. The crushed peanut and chimichurri also adds flavor and crunchiness to the dish. The convenient location and relaxing ambiance make this restaurant an awesome choice for happy hour or dinner. Taste : 4/5 * Ambiance: 4.5/5 read more

Came at around 11am on a Monday morning for lunch with my 3 other siblings and was seated promptly. Service was a tad on the slow side considering the restaurant wasn't overly busy. 2 of us ordered the M burger, then the avocado and shrimp croissant and the chicken sandwich. At first we were told they did not have any avocado but came back later to tell us they had got some in. Not a super big deal. The croissant was quite tasty as per my sibling as he devoured it. The chicken sandwich looked good as well but towards the end became overly greasy and started to fall apart. Biggest disappointment was the naan looked like the ones you would buy from the grocery store. I personally had the M burger and it was just average. It came with 7oz AAA beef patty, cheddar, bacon, onions, lettuce, tomato and a side which i chose fries. Fries were crispy and and nicely fried, the burger was nothing special. Nothing to write home about especially with a $19 price tag. The patty had a nice char on it but lacked in flavor and was on the dry side. The tomato did add some moisture to it making it better. Overall for a quick lunch its not a bad option if your staying at the hotel but would not be a top pick if i was in the area again. read more

Our first time here and it was great. It was a busy Friday night and we experienced some delays but their service was very pleasant and made sure we were cared for. We ordered the Steak Sandwich, Truffle Fries, Edamame, Chicken Wings and Calamari. Everything was good. Not to mention the Lemon Drop Martini and Pale Ale that we ordered. The greeter that night, Friday 730pm, too bad I didn't get her name, was soo hospitable. Our server, Jovy was awesome too. Came here for breakfast over this past weekend and really liked the design and ambiance of this restaurant. The phrases on the wall were super funny...such as "life is short, eat the cake!" Overall the food was pretty standard for breakfast. The breakfast buffet had a variety of options...so you really can't go wrong. The standout of my overall experience was our waitress Alex! She was extremely helpful and always smiling. No one else working there seemed to possess the same upbeat and positive attitude that she demonstrated. It truly pains me to have to write this review. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for over a dozen years, when it was American Grille, and after it became 75 West, and I'm a Marriott Club member. We have had many, many meals there, including special holiday meals at Christmas, Easter, & Thanksgiving. My Mom's condo was nearby, so it was our go-to place. My wedding rehearsal dinner was in the ballroom at the Marriott, & that's where I and out-of-town guests stayed. My experience there the last 2 months, however, has been atrocious & really, inexcusable in a restaurant of this caliber. First off, I will say that Remi continues to be a wonderful, gracious presence there. Sadly, he is now the exception. In December, late in the evening of the 23rd, they canceled our Christmas Eve brunch, & said they were going to focus on the dinner service. My mother, now in a nearby senior home, was incredibly disappointed, and at that 11th hour, it was difficult to make other plans. Back in town, I called yesterday to pick up a meal-they had the Dine Out Vancouver menu. As someone who enjoys great food & wine, I was thrilled. The woman at front of house took my order-she was pretty scattered. She called back 15 minutes later, & said the kitchen would only serve this as dine in. Given how crowded it was, and because I'm spending time with a nearly 90-yr-old Covid-vulnerable parent, I didn't want to dine in. The next day, I tried to place an order by the website's recommended delivery services. Neither were delivering from 75 West that day. I tried to call the restaurant, nobody picked up. As I was staying at the Sheraton, next door, also a Marriott hotel, I walked over. I placed my order, including a Creme Brûlée. Of course they wanted me to pay first. The young woman at the front of house then told me that the kitchen refused to do the dessert unless it was dine in. I went ahead with the other items, & paid. I asked the woman how long it would take, she said she wasn't sure, maybe 15 minutes, maybe 30. As had been the procedure the night before, she took my phone number and said she would call me. At 45 minutes in, I tried to call-of course the restaurant didn't pick up. I walked over nearly an hour in. and the young woman said, "oh there you are," and I reminded her that she said she would call when my meal was ready, that she took down my number. "My bad," she said, and giggled. I can't believe that a hotel restaurant of this calibre is so poorly run, from the front of house through to the kitchen. Don't get me started about the renovation, that has created a dark, cavernous structure that guts the middle of the restaurant. I'm sorry to say, after over 13 years, I am done with this restaurant. read more

We came here because we were staying at the Marriott for the night before our cruise. We had late dinner at around 730 and had really good service from our waitress. She was very attentive and got our food out pretty quickly. There were four of us and everyone enjoyed their food. The prices were moderately priced and you can tell the chef really puts love into their work. It was a pretty good option for hotel dining. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We were seated right away and the waitress saw us within minutes to take our drink order. The food was pretty good. Especially the beet salad. I'm a huge fan of beet salads so when they are bad, I'm disappointed. Two thumbs up. It had the right mixture of sweet, tartness and the perfect amount of goat cheese to compliment the beets. The beets were diced perfectly into cubes. If this was all we had ordered, this restaurant would have gotten 5 stars from me as I would have been none the wiser. My biggest complaint is lack of communication between wait staff and the kitchen. When we were left with the menus no one told us what wasn't available for the evening. When I'm handed a menu, unless otherwise stated everything there is to order. When our waitress came back to take our order one of two of the appetizers weren't available. Not the end of the world. We just ordered the one that was. She came back 5 minutes later to tell us that the kitchen just told her that the other appetizer was out as well. So we just stuck with our beet salad order and proceeded to pick our main dishes. When she came back to take our main dish order, before we ordered, she proceeded to tell us she just found out they were out of the meatloaf, which is what my husband was going to order. He settled on the steak sandwich. It could have been his disappointment in not being able to order the meat loaf after a long day of travel, but the only thing he really liked on his plate were the French fries...which I have to agree are superb. The right amount of crispness on the outside and creamy on the inside. Needless to say, since I'm just visiting I'm not dying to give it a second go. read more

Came here for a pre-birthday dinner, and this place did not disappoint! Technically a 4.5, but I'm gving this place an extra half star because our server Remi was absolutely fantastic. He really went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome, and was super nice and friendly. He even gifted me our desserts for my birthday! Prices are reasonable considering that this is a hotel restaurant, and portion sizes are decent. Parking is also free for two hours if you leave your license plate number to the restaurant staff. Fried cauliflower and brussel sprouts (4.5/5) Great dish, the only thing that I didn't like was the powdered cheese because I hate cheese that's not melted and so yeah. It was kind of my fault though because I knew that there was cheese but I forgot to tell them to get rid of it. My bad. The dipping sauce was great though, and the batter wasn't overly greasy. Calamari (4.5/5) Loved the sweet chili sauce and the dipping sauce (same as the one above), and again the batter was not too oily. I also liked the addition of the fried onions and bell peppers, as it adds a nice crunch and makes me feel like I'm being healthy even though I'm not because it's all deep fried. Anyway, this was a pretty great dish. Pork adobo (4.5/5) This was very good, according to the rest of my family. They were skeptical of ordering it at first, but I made them order it because I've heard good things about it on Yelp. It was a good call. The pork was crispy on the top and super tender and flavourful. A definite thumbs up! Seafood chowder (4.5/5) Wow this chowder was thicc. I was really good though, although I wish there was a little less potato and a little more seafood. Sablefish (4/5) This was really good, and a good option if you want a lighter dish. The miso broth was great, and the fish was crisp on the outside and super tender on the inside. 10oz ribeye (4/5) This was also a really great dish. The sauce was flavourful, the steak was juicy and tender, and the mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms were pretty good as well. Chocolate cake (4/5) This was a great chocolate cake. It's rich, but not too sweet. We really enjoyed this. Mango sorbet (4.5/5) Shoutout to Remi to giving us 3 large scoops of the mango sorbet for the whole table to share when we only ordered one. This mango sorbet is the best I've ever had, and according to my brother, who has had over a hundred scoops of mango sorbet in his life (no kidding), this is the best mango sorbet outside of Italy. Seriously, it is so creamy and delightful. You must try this! Overall, I was really pleased with my experience here. The only complaint that I have is that the whole place smelled like cheese powder, which I suppose can't be helped. However, it made me feel kind of nauseous because I can't stand the small of cheese at all. Other than that, this is a great place to dine with friends and family, and I highly recommend this place. We literally did not leave a single crumb behind, and my family members have really small appetites! read more

It's hard to miss this restaurant since it's at the corner of a busy street and has two elephant statues at the front entrance. I've never been to this place until recently because it's a restaurant inside the Marriott hotel. Surprisingly, the menu wasn't bad. There wasn't a huge selection, but they have your traditional soups and salads, starters, and entrees. I really liked the moules et frites as the starter and I couldn't choose between the baby back ribs, smoked sable fish, roasted lamb, bouillabaisee, or blackened halibut pasta. They all looked good. I settled on sharing with my friend the smoked sable fish and baby back ribs. The sable fish was soooo tender and the baby back ribs bountiful (they marinate it in their own sauce). A great thing about this restaurant is that it's perfect for big groups of people where you can have dinner and chat the night away. The place is very laid back where no one is pressuring you to leave once dinner is done. The only down side is that service is very very slow and parking is expensive. read more

Excellent value if you come to this restaurant with an entertainment coupon. The SEAFOOD RISOTTO ($28) was the special of the day, and overall it was a decent dish. The mussels were extraordinarily plump and tasty, but the scallops were on the dry side. The RIB EYE ($36) was extremely tender to the point you could cut it with a butter knife. However, it was a thin cut of steak and the flavour of the meat was just fine. The sides were the best part--mouthwatering mashed potatoes and delicious sauteed mushrooms! For dessert, the raspberry CHEESECAKE was gorgeously served with a berry and passion fruit coulis and berry compote. It was nothing beyond ordinary but satisfied my craving for cheesecake. read more

This restaurant is located in the Marriott. They have a awesome bar with great drinks. Breakfast was wonderful except for the fact that your buffet omelette had to be ordered thru your waitress instead of placing it with the omelette maker which takes longer if she's busy. First restaurant for Dine out 2016. Situated inside Marriott hotel. There's an open kitchen where you can see the chefs doing finishing touches to the dishes and plating. Desserts are done at the back and brought to the front. Each dish is inspected by the general manager and servers with some hanging lights prior to being brought to the customers. We arrived at our reserved time and was seated immediately. The restaurant was not to busy but had ample amount of diners. The service for the night felt a bit rushed even though not all the tables were filled and there was certainly no lineup at this place. They started us off quickly with some bread, sesame crisps and butter. The bread was still nice and warm. Very fluffy and I'd say it tastes better than the bread I got at other places. Appetizers: -Butternut Squash & Coconut Curry Bisque with Crab Claw, Vanilla Foam, Chervil Leaves (3.5/5): It was nice and thick with a crab claw at the center and around it was the Vanilla foam. An interesting and unique dish. The taste of squash was apparent but the coconut curry was faint. The Vanilla foam give the dish a bit of an uplift. -Creole Prawns; Sauteed Jumbo Prawns, Creole Butter, Cilantro, Lime Emulsion & Grilled Focaccia Bread (2.5/5): This dish consists of 6 prawns and two pieces of Focaccia bread. The dish was average by par but the two pieces of Focaccia tasted weird and it felt very rough and dry. Mains: -Miso Glazed Ling Cod with Edamame, Fingerling Potato, Shitake Mushroom Ragout, Ginger Soy Vinaigrette (3/5): Beautifully plated. The Ling Cod was nicely cooked and went well with the vinaigrette. -Rosemary Orange Glazed Duck with Roasted Garlic, Yam Puree, Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, Shallot Confit, Asparagus, Bing Cherry Jus (3.5/5): Duck was nicely cooked- seared on the outside and a little undone at the center. You get three pieces in total. The sides were amazing. Had the best Yam Puree here. Enough sweetness and super smooth in texture. Brussels Sprouts were tasty as well. The only let down was the shallot. It was undercooked or I just had the first layer of the shallot. It was hard to cut/bite through. Desserts: -Mini Brulee Sampler (Rosemary & Vanilla, Chocolate Hazelnut and Banana Collada) with House-Made Biscotti (2/5): This was disappointing. Sampler size was not a joke. You literally get a spoon and a half of each flavour. The sugar coat on top was thick and the flavor of creme custard was good. Biscotti was sort of a pass compared to the creme brulee. -Grand Marnier Yogurt Panna Cotta with Basil Infused Macerated Berries, Orange Lace Cookie (3/5): Yoghurt Panna Cotta was on the thick side but the taste was pretty nice. It tasted like the Calpis drink. Despite the menu's description of using Grand Marnier, I did not find a trace of it and the orange laced cookie tasted like caramel crisp. Overall, this place is not bad for Dine Out. Not sure if I'll go back for their regular menu. I'd give it 3.5 stars. read more

Food: 5/5 Excellent new additions to their menu. The classics are still there but the new items are really good. Try the hamachi collars, calamari, and the Brussels spouts. Drink: 5/5 Martini's on point and wine selection is quite decent Service: 4/5 The server was attentive, but some behaviours a little off putting (i.e. random not funny jokes and weird lingering). Food was good and the steak we asked for was cooked the way we wanted and not over cooked, which was nice! But there are lots of items that don't have a price tag, but instead it's market price, so be aware if you're on a budget :) We ordered the striploin and the ribeye to share, and all of us liked the ribeye better. We also got the pear salad and mussels, both of which are really good. The salad has enough dressing and we finished the soup from the mussel dish. Oh, and the mussels also came with fries! The fries were also delicious, crispy outside and soft inside. The lamb rack was a biiiiig portion that we weren't expecting, so all of us got too full at the end to taste dessert. The lamb rack was probably the best dish of the night for us, but if you don't like the smell of lamb, it's probably not for you, but all the dishes in general were pretty good. read more

This place used to be great despite being a restaurant within a hotel. The decor is rich and sophisticated. The servers are polite and up to par with hospitality you expect from a hotel restaurant. However somewhere along the way the food has taken a nose dive. I'm pretty sure the chef and line cooks and any one else involved in food preparation has changed. There's no way the difference can be so night and day. The fish and meat dishes used to be succulent and perfectly prepared. Now you're lucky if you can tell the difference between your meat and a worn piece of leather. read more

Came here for a "going away" dinner today and was very happy with both the food and the service. Mussels: A good sized appetizer cooked with garlic, onions and tomato and a crispy side of fries. Shrimp, avocado, mango salad: This was quite big and refreshing! Not spicy though, don't know if that was the one my aunt ordered. Rack of Lamb: We ordered this rare, and rare it was. I really enjoyed the lamb, it was tasty, perfectly cooked, tender and not too gamey. It came with gnocchi and beets. Steak: My uncle really liked it but the sauce was a bit salty. We mentioned this to the waiter to just let the chef know, so he'd be aware and they ended up giving us a free dessert! (That's what i call good service) Morroccan Pork Tenderloin: This was what i originally ordered. It only came with 3 small pieces and ended up being quite dry. I told the host and she quickly offered me another meal Seafood chowder: This is what I got instead. Wow! It is huge, either share this or eat it alone as a meal. It came with clams, salmon and halibut. Well done. All I was missing in this dish was some sourdough bread. Baby back ribs: These were cooked well enough to fall off the bone but I think they just boiled them first then topped it with sauce. Could be better if they maybe baked it with the sauce. Deep fried cheesecake (banana) with ice cream: This was what the waitress so kindly gave us for free after we mentioned to the host the steak sauce was a bit salty. She insisted we try this dessert. It was quite delicious. The deep fried portion reminded me of a mini donut combined with a spring roll stuffed with creamy banana slices and cheesecake. Worth a try. Overall I'm happy with the food, and the servers. The ambience is quite nice as well, good for a casual date night. Note: If you give them your license plate, you don't have to pay for parking. Entertainment card gives you 10% off. Food is a bit slow to come out. read more

Part of the Marriott Hotel, the restaurant decor is a bit out-dated and where you might take your parents/grandparents. Its quiet, lots of space (enough to fit a stroller), and an open kitchen. They are family friendly with a kids menu and high chairs. The hostess was nice and helpful with the highchair. Our server was a bit strange; when we asked what the size of the mussels dish was he said it was a hand full and depends on the size of the hand that's grabbing it... umm... ok. We couldn't tell if he was trying to be funny... We came for dinner intending to use an entertainment book coupon as well but our server said Boxing Day was a stat holiday and so it won't be honored. This is not true, Boxing Day isn't a stat in BC but I let it go instead of letting it ruin the night arguing though it left me with a bad impression of the business. The food tasted good, don't expect anything fancy. I got the Blackened Halibut ($25) on angel hair pasta; hubby got the Short Rib Bourguignon ($26). Lots of good flavors in both though the halibut was a bit dry. We came with friends who wanted to drink. We had wine which were reasonably priced, cheaper than Downtown wine bars but than again, we are in a different location with a more low key vibe. My friends had the Old Fashioned which had soda water in it which we've never seen in an Old Fashioned before. It made the drink taste diluted; not good. I have mixed feelings about this place as it is good for going with parents who don't like noisy restaurants, is kid friendly, no wait, and good tasting and good quality food. But the service was not great, the atmosphere is borderline boring, cocktails are not their forte, so it feels tough to justify the price I'm paying. read more
