The usual and avocado toast and fruit

The breakfast was alright. Servers were very nice. Came around all the time to refill our water and coffee. Ample of space and parking as it's located inside a hotel.

Dined here twice while staying at the Hotel. Be sure to let them know you are a guest as they will give you 10% off regular priced food. The first night we arrived just before 930 which is when the kitchen closes. Luckily they were still accepting orders. We chose the Beet Hummus & Chicken Burger with fries to share. Got drinks my husband got the Pressed Hard Cider. His came in a tall can. It wasn't overly sweet. He enjoyed it. I ordered the White Sangria. It came with only 4 pieces of fruit. A wrinkled up lime & lemon didn't cut it. I would have loved lots of grapes, strawberries, blueberries. It also was very sour. I had to ask for grinadene. They didn't have it so I was given a small amount of simple syrup. It helped The food was really good! The chicken was a plump juicy breast well battered. Cooked to perfection. It had coleslaw on it which normally I don't like but it wax actually perfect on this burger. The fries were crispy and also delicious. The dip was good too. I wasn't a huge fan on the yogurt & honey but the actual Beet Hummus was good. The next day we made it for Happy Hour (3-6) AJ got the HH draft, I got the bubbles both 6$ each. For food, HH wings, & Chicken Sliders. AJ got the Chicken Burger & Fries again. The wings were a bit too hot for me. Came with ranch & 2 celery sticks. Service was decent. At 6 pm on the second night, they had Live Entertainment.

Ribs/Pulled Pork platter. Amazing!!!! Best cornbread Ever!

This was an absolutely unreal experience. From the moment we entered the staff treated our family with nothing short of exceptional service. From the friendly greeting to meal completion we were blown away by the staff and our waiter was the most kind and attentive server we have ever had. We were not expecting an exceptional experience in all honestly having just googled a restaurant near our hotel, but we were blown away by the food!!! It was some of the best bbq fare we have ever had!! The dirty fries, calamari and Ribs/pork platter was ridiculously good!!!! Also drinks were exceptional. We will be going back on the way out of town!!! So good!

We came here for girls date brunch. The place looks promising with nice staff and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I find the food a bit lacking. We ordered the tavern burger which didn't have any flavours and the patty was dried. The fries was pretty good though. Their fried chicken waffles was quite worth it. The fried chicken portion is huge!! It was amazing. The eggs for the egg Benny was almost fully cooked. I don't think I would come back.

Sticky ribs, corn bread with Cajun butter (the first serving) and a dozen oysters.

Went there for Happy Hour (3-6) and loved the corn bread with Cajun butter $12 and we ended up ordering two servings, dirty fries were loaded with topping, chicken sliders (you get three) $12, dozen oysters $18 . I had earl Grey tea and Michael made sure that it was hot and refilled , served with honey. My husband enjoyed the selection of beer . It was a relaxing dinner after a long bike ride. What really stood out was the service . Michael was amazingly attentive even considering how busy the place was. The bartender and expediter were also quick to check on what we needed. . My husband dropped a fork and from across the room Michael appeared and gave him a new set. Will definitely be back and we hope we get one of Michael's tables again. Be ready to pay for parking in the hotel parkade. $4.50/hour.

I haven't been to this location since the Foggy Dew/Ceilis' days. It was nice to see Free Bird made some nice renovations making it more open a brighter inside. The room was spacious and comfortable and the ambiance was fairly lively. The service was excellent. David and the rest of his staff were very friendly and accommodating and they checked in frequently to see how everything was good and how the food and drinks were. Speaking of food and drinks, we came during their happy hour and loved all the specials. The cocktail of the day was delicious and the fresh oysters for $1 can't be beat. We ordered the chicken plate (not the family meal one) and it was massive! Chicken was brined and seasoned well and the batter was light and not oily. The breast was slightly dry, but the maple chilli sauce helped. The leg and thigh were perfect. Also orders the ribs and they were fall off the bone goodness. I'll be back again soon. Will try some other stuff out and maybe even play some pool (noticed a couple of tables tucked away in the back).

Fifth visit here; for the three other visit I did not document here, everything was fine and were as I expected. This time I went here as a group of five without reservation on weekdays around 5 PM. When we arrived, they asked us to show our vaccine passport which we quickly complied. Once seated, we browsed the happy hour menu and decided what we wanted, 18 pieces of oyster. The oyster showed up after about 10 minutes, that was pretty fast. Unfortunately for this visit, some of the oyster had too much shells, and some of the oyster are very tiny. As the food did not fill me up, I ordered Nashville Chicken Tacos. My friend ordered more food around 10 minutes after me, but their order was served before mine. After 30 minutes of waiting, I flagged the server to ask about my order, all they said was it was coming. Ten minutes after asking the server for the second time, my Nashville Chicken Tacos finally arrived. Portion was good, chicken was juicy and crispy. I know that during happy hour the restaurant is busy, but I did not expect to wait for more than 30 minutes for Chicken Tacos.

    $1 oysters for happy hour

Came here for a quick happy hour for a friend's belated birthday celebration. Quite surprised to see they still have a buck a shuck oysters, which is something I had been looking forward to. We decided to order some other appies as well to share. One dish that I would highly recommend is the crispy veggies! Super delicious and flavourful. If you're a fan of brussel sprouts, this is one dish that will get you hooked. It also came with different kinds of cheese, which enhanced the flavours of all the different vegetables. Of course, we had to get the buck a shuck oysters. Pretty much what I was expecting -- the oysters erred on the smaller side. Nevertheless, it was still meaty. There also wasn't much of the seawater taste, which I appreciate. The oysters were also cleaned decently well with no shells. Other happy hour deals include $5 highballs, wine, and beer, which I thought was very reasonable. Free bird would definitely be a good option for HH in Richmond! PROTIP: FREE parking in the back lot for hotel customers. Go to the front desk to give them your license plate number and you're good to go!

COVID #28 Free Bird. Not quite the same as Free Willy. I mean, after all, this is Hollywood North. It's not a movie. First impressions: - It's new and renovated, - Attached to a hotel, The Executive Inn - Street and private lot parking - Free WIFI - I was almost expecting a Cactus Club/Joeys/Earls type environment, but their hiring practices challenge that connection hereto - it's closer to a family restaurant hiring practice. No short skirts and young waitress predominant. It was all over the map in terms of age. Aside from the specifics, fried chicken three ways - chicken and waffles, mild Cajun wings, and chicken tacos, all pushed down with, pulled pork mac and cheese. This was a keto cycle meal with the mac and cheese, but I didn't eat much of it. Likely one of the best or better mac and cheeses I've had. The chicken tacos were my favorite followed by the wings and then the chicken in the chicken and waffles. The Chicken in the chicken and waffles has a bit of a corn meal breading. Happy hour menu 7 days a week.

Came in again for pre dinner drinks and an oyster hit. In and out in less than 45 minutes. Some places know how to do a beer right, and it's here. Tried the corn dogs today ($5/4 pieces), very nice! Richard helped us out today, he was warm with his regulars and attentive to our hasty refuelling.

    Steak
    Nancy W.

We order the steak and it's has only 4 slices of beef on a big mountain of mashed potato. Didn't feel like a main meal. It costed $39 not including tips and tax. We also order happy hour fresh oyster. There were broken pieces of shell inside the oysters. Not very save to eat. Didn't explain well enough about the parking by the hotel, it said pay parking but actually you can go inside the hotel and tell the front desk your licences and it's free parking. So didn't know about that and already paid the parking. The manager on Friday wasn't very friendly to family customer. Will not go back to this restaurant.

WOW! I have driven past this restaurant maybe 100 times now and I've only just tried it this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance of the restaurant was so much nicer than I expected and everything was super clean. The batter on their fried foods were so crispy and light and I understand why they're famous for their fried chicken because it was absolutely delightful. Buck-a-shuck oysters basically half off from their regular prices! They were fresh and yummy and the best part is they make their cocktail sauce in-house! I loved the sauce so much it had your traditional cocktail sauce flavour with almost a hint of tangy bbq I want to say? Whatever they're doing - they're doing it right. There's not many western food options here in Richmond so if you're looking for something that's not cactus club or earls -- freebird is the place to be!

One of my new favourite happy hour places in Richmond. They have a small menu but it's enough to make me wanna come back. * Dozen oysters ($12) ~ $1/oyster is so unheard of now a days especially in vancouver. These were freshly shucked and sweet and fatty. Cant go wrong with oysters (and there is no limit on how many you want to order- least that I know of). Some did have some shell in it so it wasn't a super clean shuck. 6.5/10. * Spicy sliders ($12) ~ BOMB this was so good the brioche was soft and sweet and that chicken was super crispy, well seasoned and sooo good. The kfc hot mayo paired so well with the slaw and chicken. 9/10. * We also got dirty fries ($14) ~ loaded with cheese, chicken, peppers and green onions which was pretty good actually the cheese paired well with the chicken. 7.5/10. * Also got Crispy veggies ($12) ~ flavour is good but wish it was crispier. 5/10. * overall definitely a place to try for happy hour!!

The $25 menu price is very reasonable for 3 courses, an equivalent value to a CAVU Burger. While price was very reasonable, the dishes were not great. She was handling the bar and tables by herself. She was attentive and provided excellent service. We had the Nachs for an appetizer. Hand cut chips, house made salsa, cheese mix, house spice, avocado, tomatoes, and jalapenos, so fulfilling! Next up were the Grilled Miso Salmon and the Big Salad featuring Tofu. Both were excellently prepare with the Salmon being flaky and moist. The Salmon was presented with edamame, "forbidden" rice, carrot and miso puree, pickle and crispy ginger, and water crisp. The Salmon had a perfect char. The Big Salad included cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, avocado, red onions, hard boiled egg, olives, romaine lettuce, cranberries, feta cheese, and herb ranch dressing. We washed it all down with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at half price a HH special and a glass of old fashioned featuring Jim Beam. Amazingly another patron picked up the tab on the wine bottle, bless him! We must pass that forward. I didn't know what to expect from this hotel spot but was pleasantly surprised with the quality and presentation. We give them 4.5 for the food, the execution, and presentation. The wife went for the Tofu dessert which I understand was great.
