Finally got to try the Milestone Test Kitchen. This one is located all the way out in Coquitlam. Most of the Test Kitchen like Earl, Joey's etc are located in Vancouver. B and I made a reservation because we knew this place is going to be busy on a weekend. Parking lot is very small so I recommend coming in for an early dinner instead. The restaurant is located a block or two away from Coquitlam mall. We walked in and was seated immediately but that was probably because we had a reservation. The greeting was super warm at this restaurant. Our server for the night provided a great experience. We ordered the the Moroccan Meatballs to share. I got the Seafood Risotto and B got the Chicken Clubs with Cajun Fries. For drinks I had an non alcoholic drink the Pink Fizz and B got the Negroni. The Moroccan Meatballs had a lot going on with the flavors. It came with bread to go with the meatballs. My Seafood Risotto looked small but it was quite filling. It had half a lobster with it, lots of shrimps and other seafood. The risotto was very flavorful. B chicken club sounds ordinary but again it was also very flavorful and unique. It is basically a chicken cob salad in a bun. The fries that came with it was delicious. I really like the garlic aioli dip that came with it. All food items that we ordered were only available at this test kitchen. The drinks were good. The meal with tips and taxes came to $120 for two people. Pretty standard pricing. The foods we had were 9.5 out of ten! Chicken was like Korean fried chicken big pieces it was so yummy! Portions are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy bigger than other chain restaurants! My boyfriend's coke glass shattered because the temperature of the glass was hot while the coke was in it but the manager handled everything well' he took it off our bill :)) the pudding dessert on the other hand wasn't my favorite, it tasted like a bran muffin with a spoon of ice cream! The server recommended us to try the chocolate cake, we'll try it next time ! went here for valentine's day! the club was pretty loaded and i really liked the combination of sweet and savoury in the salad (with honey walnuts and avocado standing out). the bread was a bit stale and hard to chew, so I had a hard time eating it. also it fell apart. not exceptional in terms of flavour (it's a sandwich) but not bad! read more

Went to celebrate 2 birthdays with family and had a great time. One commented on the level of the music being just right and not too loud like at some places. we could still hear each other talking in a normal tone. The service was great, a nice younger fellow was our server. I don't recall him introducing himself so I don't know his name but he was a good server. When the food came there was a bit of confusion in placement but there were also many servers carrying the food. We quickly figured it out. The wrong soup was on one plate but before we even got to say anything the right one was brought out. A couple of times managers or supervisors came over to check on us see if we needed anything. Each of the birthday parties got a nice big desert on the house. I tried the cheesecake it was rich but oh so delicious! Recommend the avocado and whipped feta dip starter. Fraser Bar has quickly become our new favourite spot in Coquitlam! Hidden inside Milestones, it feels like a cozy little speakeasy with amazing cocktails, great atmosphere, and a fantastic happy hour. We loved it so much we went two nights in a row! Not very happy about our experience Jan 9 / 24 (830 pm) at the Coquitlam location. To make a long story short, we came for some cocktails and I was craving pasta. It wasn't Happy Hour, but I still wanted a Frozen Peach Classic Bellini. My husband wanted a Caesar. My drink was ok but it wasn't smooth and creamy. Instead I found the ice to be too chunky, and it tasted like a single not a double. My Husband opted for the Dill Pickle Caesar. He wasn't impressed either and had to use extra Worcestershire Sauce. We had ordered the White Chocolate as a starter and this is the one thing we really enjoyed. It was delicious. The Shrimp & Scallop Scampi Pasta came out while we were at the end of consuming our cake. I quickly noticed how lacklustre the entire dish looked. When I looked closer, I could tell it wasn't even barely warm... In fact - looking closely it looked like the chicken had already had a big bite taken out of it! (See photo) This was not freshly prepared - it looked like a dish that had been sent back - then poorly re-heated!! I felt sick ....Unacceptable! When we informed our server, she didn't say much. We requested to speak to the Manager... We saw them speaking to each other in a sketchy secretive way over by the bar- it seemed that this was no secret to anyone other then us.. When he finally decided to make his way over, he wasn't overly concerned and barely even apologized! The only thing he did was take it off the bill- he didn't offer to comp our cake or a drink or anything. It was pathetic & quite disgusting. Do Better! The food was average overall--I had the Kale Stir Fry, which was much too oily, and my partner had the Sweet Chili Chicken, which was just okay. Milestones Coquitlam has been our go to place for us for years until the point the point they just closed. My wife and I would split a burger and their California Salad. French fries are cooked perfectly!!! We had a VERY BAD experience at Milestones Coquitlam in the last December just before they closed. I asked the waitress about that, and she told me the quantity of fries provided will vary from cook to cook. I did ask her if Milestones had established standards when it came to portion control. There was a skin layer over the ketchup. ......this review is of the 'new' Milestones Coquitlam Test Kitchen. I was skeptical on whether or not Milestones will re-open simply based on the amount of time it took them to renovate. We decided to give them another try regardless of our last visit with the French fry and ketchup. Incident. We went there for breakfast. The décor of the restaurant is very nice. I ordered the classic eggs benedict with runny eggs. To my surprise, the eggs were not runny........in fact the yolks were solid. They replace both the eggs quickly. Once again.....the yolks were solid! They did re-do my eggs for a third time. I guess it's true what they say, "Third time is the charm". Bad thing.....by the time they finally got my eggs right, my English muffin was soggy and potatoes were cold. The waiter did comp us the breakfast for my wife and I. Would I go back....NO based on my last 2 experiences at the Milestones Coquitlam location. Would I recommend to others......ABSOLUTELY NOT! It's been years since I've been to milestones and been meaning to go. I decided to treat my mum to a nice dinner here as it had been forever for both of us. I'll start with the food. My mum ordered the wagyu beef meatloaf. It looked really delicious. My mum thoroughly enjoyed it - felt like she was on cloud 9 with this dish lol. She couldn't stop raving about her dish even when we got home! Unfortunately I didn't get to try it. I had the stuffed portobello mushroom cap which their menu said is vegan (which is great coz I can't eat anything else with dairy). Unfortunately my dish came with a lot of issues. After we ordered, our server came back a few minutes later to let me know the kitchen was out of the pilaf (which was supposed to be the base of the dish) so she asked if I wanted jasmine rice or extra veggies and I was like yes that's totally fine. Anyways my dish arrived and the person who brought my dish (not our server) let me know that the kitchen chose to leave out the basil sauce and leeks - leeks because of cross contamination with dairy and the basil sauce because it sometimes contains dairy (I found this really weird because this dish was said to be vegan on the menu and there should not be any dairy in vegan dishes - so why say it is vegan if the basil sauce 'may contain dairy'?). Our server walked by a few minutes after that and we tried to ask her for the basil sauce but she thought we were asking for the extra veggies she agreed to earlier which she brought but didn't bring the basil sauce. Either way though the dish was still delicious - I wish I could I could've tried the whole package but that's okay! We had two servers, one was a Trainee and the other was a Trainer, they were both very sweet, kind and accommodating... We were a group so ordered Americano Coffee which was really flavorful and rich, Sangria... which was really terrific and other drinks For grub we ordered Avocado Toast without egg and Mozzarella cheese on top, California Benedict, Penne Pasta, Seared Tuna, and several other items... All the items were tasty and done well. The service was top notch and they were SUPER attentive and prompt with everything... The ambience is really nice and mellow and they allowed for a bunch of substitutions which was mighty nice.. Underwhelming fare and unnecessarily slow service. My wife and I chose Milestones for what we had hoped would be a lovely evening out. Sadly, we were let down. We had an allergy at the table, and our server didn't seem to care. The kitchen staff had to come to the table to discuss that issue. It took over 20 minutes after being seated and ordering coffee for it to arrive. Beverages were left unfilled for far too long. The food was acceptable, but not at all worth the menu prices. Our server was friendly enough, but not at all competent. There were only 4 tables in our section, and all of them were being ignored. The rest of the restaurant was not busy, so there was no excuse for the lack of basic service. What should have been a quality evening was tarnished by overly high prices, snails pace service and mediocre food. We will not be back. read more

Although I have known about Milestones from Toronto ON to Kelowna BC for years and have known people who have worked there, I had never eaten at the restaurant. While helping move my oldest daughter into a condo nearby, we had been looking forward to a nice sit-down meal together. We decided to go for it and try Milestones. I had been craving a good steak and we were both looking forward to a well-deserved dinner out. The service was impeccable; friendly yet reserved, allowing us our 'table privacy'. I really enjoy coming to this location. It's not too busy and the staff are really nice. Drinks are good and not too icy, and food is done to standard. Have never had an issue with my meal here. I tried the seafood salad this time which comes with prawns and salmon. It would be something I would get again. The Veg Ravioli is usually my go to choice. I haven't been to Milestones for years but came here yesterday to celebrate an anniversary! Had a reservation at 7pm on a Wednesday night, was seated right away + it was busier and louder than expected. I noticed our waitress going back and forth but she did try her best to check in with how everything was tasting. We ordered 3 dishes -- Garlic caesar salad, butternut squash ravioli, the grilled sirloin with the choice of mashed potatoes + add on of sauteed mushrooms ($6) as well as drinks. The waitress told us she could split each portion into 2, which I appreciated! The caesar salad was nicely dressed with just the right amount of dressing. The filling for the ravioli was delicious but I found the pasta to be slightly hard on the edges -- would've been nice if it was cooked a little longer but it was not "hard" to chew. The steak was nice as well -- mashed potatoes were not salty and seasoned perfectly. I had the original belini which was lovely. Overall, the food was presented nicely and I was very full and happy after this meal. Would come again in the future! Curious to try the brunch menu as well. read more

A favourite neighbourhood hangout for my family. Great menu selection, tasty dishes, affordable prices, good parking and overall a worthwhile experience. Pros: their food selection is large and their dishes are unique and tasty, price is affordable, serving portions are generous, line ups are usually not a problem if you have no reservation and you get in just before peak hours, drink menu has a good selection of cocktails, wine and beer. Their locations have plenty of parking and we always feel we get the value for what we pay for. Their patios are spacious and nice but sometimes hard to get a seat on a sunny day. Cons: service is sometimes lacking (depends on where you are seated), bathrooms are sometimes not too clean, payment system for some reason was awkward. Usually you can pay with a wireless debit machine, but this time I had to go to the bar to make a payment. So far, we tried the Stacked Chicken Parmesan, the Milestone California Spring Salad, the Mediterranean Chicken and the Surfside salad. All were winners. read more

Milestone's is a very popular Canadian restaurant among the locals as I was told when I got to the area. I've also been hearing the radio ad on 95 Crave (streaming) for over a month. This casual restaurant itself looks very nice with nice booths, small lamps near each table, wood trim, and framed b/w pictures on the walls. The upstairs houses a banquet/function room. I stopped here for lunch and the place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of folks were waiting out in the lobby for tables to be available. I told the hostess I'll eat at the bar since I was alone and I wanted to see the NFL football highlights on the TV at the bar. Most of the high seats at the bar counter were occupied, except for two seats next each other, but there was a big ass handbag in front of the left seat and a small pile of newspapers in front of the right seat. I asked the young couple to the right if the right seat was taken and they said no. I sat on the right seat with the small pile of newspapers in front of me. Since the two women on the left were too busy chit chatting about women's issues (I know better to DND), I moved the newspapers next to the "big ass handbag" (slightly touching) so the bartender could set up my utensils. The slightly sossed woman two seats to my left, owner of the "big ass handbag" grumbled sarcastically: "We're not in America!" I ignored this rant and pretended I didn't hear this, but I'm thinking "whatever and WTF!!" You're a very selfish drunk idiot with your "big ass handbag" hogging valuable space at the bar. Hang your stupid "handbag" on your chair so other bar patrons can have a place to sit. In America, it's about the principle and it's also not a good idea to tick off a mavericky American Yelper. Okay, I looked over the Brunch Menu, which was limited and had several egg dishes and French toast. I asked the bartender for a regular menu and he happily obliged. The regular menu offers starters (wicked kobe beef sliders, baked goast cheese, yummy yam frites & more), salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, prime rib, seafood, chicken, pasta, comfort dishes, and desserts. For wine, 29 wines from 29 vines from BC, California, and around the world are offered. The couple next to me were really enjoying their blackberry martinis. I had the Grilled Chicken Pesto Fettucini ($13.50 lunch size), which was a very good tasty portion. This dish had a single grilled chicken breast tossed in a rich thick pesto garlic cream sauce over al dente fettucini served with a soft foccacia triangle. The service was pretty good, with different staff taking care of things. The bartender took my order and made sure my drinks were full. Another server brought out my food and the manager cashed me out. Ignoring the "handbag woman" which had no effect on the rating, I enjoyed Miletone's, its clean casual upscale atmosphere, and the good meal I had. read more

One of the things hubby and I miss most about living in Canada is going to Milestone's for appys and drinks. I'm not kidding... out of all the things. We make a point of hitting Milestone's at least twice every time we come up for a family visit. The best appys are the andouille calamari, Cajun popcorn shrimp (when they have them) and the Thai drummettes. The chocolate ganache torte is the bomb and cannot be replicated (I've tried - and failed). The restaurant itself is very comfortable with perfect lighting. Pretty much the whole place is booth seating except a few tables. The patio is okay but the view of the highway leaves a little to be desired. We used to party here when it was the Steel Monkey. Ah, the memories... If you remember that place, you know what I'm talkin' bout. Remember those $1.50 highball Tuesday nights? Woo-hoo. My family and friends are always telling me how Milestone's has gone downhill in service and food quality over the years but I beg to differ... at least when you just go as a couple at non peak times and not as a huge group at 7 on a Saturday night. I'm not one to suggest to go to a "chain" type restaurant but it was Saturday night my girlfriend didn't make any reservations and I just got off work and starving. There was still a 20 minute wait but that was nothing compared to the other restaurant we originally planned to go to. When we were seated, the restaurant was full/busy. Our server came by took our drink orders. Yes a 9oz glass of wine is a little pricey but what the heck. We started with a hot spinach & artichoke dip, yumm yumm. Also came with a fresh salsa and sour cream. I said I was hungry so I had the feature prime rib, which I've had before and never disappoints. Medium rare goodness! It was tender, flavorful, and oh so juicy. I don't know if I was just extra hungry or it's just tasted extra fantastic! It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. The horseradish is my fave here. For dessert we ordered the duo a gluten free chocolate tort and cheesecake. I really like that they have gluten free menu. Over all the meal was great, a little pricey but was worth it. We had a reservation and we still had to wait. 3 People came in while we were waiting and went to the hostess desk, looked around saw there other party and just walked past the hostess without checking their vaccination cards. We ordered the 8oz sirloin steak which looked like it was the 6oz. The vegetables were not cooked and I had to send them back. When we got our food we started to eat and we're interrupted 3 times in a row, how was everything. So annoying. We ordered an order of garlic bread which was 1/2 a bun, the bottom half, not toasted and the bun was cut on an angle and tasted like a English muffin. You couldn't even chew it. With some last minute planning, a few friends and I decided to hit up Milestones for a birthday. It was a long weekend as well so the fact that we were able to get a table around 7 on a Saturday night was very accommodating. Found that the staff are always up front to greet you and check your reservation. The birthday girl was about 15 minutes late but the hostess didn't mind waiting to sit us down which was very nice, they weren't to busy anyways so no big deal. As soon as we were sat down our server came over straight away to introduce herself and take our drink orders. I was driving so of course I was being responsible, but the girls on the other hand all went for the Bellini's as it was ladies night. Surprise surprise aha. Haven't been here since I was little so I found it neat that they put little plastic animals on the Bellini's, anything fun like that makes me want to take pics. I wasn't too hungry and really just wanted a bit of everything so I split a platter with a friend. For the cost we got a good amount of food and boy was it tasty. To finish things off we surprised the bday girl with the white chocolate cheese cake which did not disappoint. Could only handle one spoonful and I was spent. Food is mostly great here - on many occassions, they run out of Prime Rib, so if you want that, arrive earlier. Prime Rib here is excellent. Good value - our bill for a Party of 9 was less than we paid for 5 at the Keg. All appetizers (Shrimp, Chicken, Spinich Dip, Cauliflower) were great as were many of Mains. Chicken Parmeson looked great. On noticable failure - two of our party ordered Sirloin and both steaks were way overcooked and gristly. We took them home and fed them to the dog. read more

When you look back on failed relationships the once so subtle signs of an impending break up become clear as day in retrospect. This describes my relationship with Milestones. We had our great times together but it was getting harder and harder to ignore the signs that there were trouble in paradise. From inconstant steaks, forgotten meals and long waits for cold entrees, I knew it was time to end things, goodbye milestones and thanks for all the fish. And that's when our secret affair started, brunch! Brunch is where Milestones does secretly shine. The have a good selection of benny's all topped up with home made hollandaise, having made a lot of hollandaise at home myself I do respect any restaurant that takes the time to do it right. This was my first time going to Milestones in ages! I heard they updated their menu so wanted to give it a shot. This is a 4 instead of 5 only for one reason. The prices are insanely high. $20+ for some of these items is an insane markup and is cheaper at some other similar restaurants, I just can't afford it. Besides that I give a 5 star to our server Michael L. who was incredibly helpful with our menu needs and allergies, suggestions, and silly banter. I had a Caesar to drink, it was delicious and I had the Sushi Bowl for dinner. For $22 it was overpriced for what it was. I would suggest cutting the portion in half and charging $15 and I would also suggest adding the dressing that Mike brought us, can't recall what it was but it made the dish taste amazing as it was quite tasteless before. We also had the root fries with dip and they were super yummy! I will be back to try more items (they were out of 3 of our choices yesterday evening - wine and 2 dinner items) and for the great service. read more

I sometimes think of Milestone's as a five-star McDonald's for Western gourmet foodies. When you don't know what classy thing to eat next, it should be like "Forget it. I'm going to Milestone's". Because every dish in Milestone's is presented so well and so good, but yet so familiar to the palate. Another comparison is that It's like being invited over to grandma's except grandma has gone to cooking school and become a pro chef. I could go for other restaurants for a fancy night out, but when options are limited, I don't mind going to Milestone's. My all-time favourite is the Seafood Fettucine. I've been ordering that fettucine since I was in primary school. I miss the smarties ice cream sundae which used to be on the kids' menu (well, even if they have it again, I'd feel a little awkward ordering that). I have yet to try an actual glass of wine or cocktail here, but I'm sure they have great selections. I love love love that there was a leather chesterfield in the lounge with a flat screen in front of it. We even can order and eat there! Great for cuddling while sipping drinks with a date! Food is good too. read more

I don't get it. Coquitlam's Milestone's used to be the best out of the chain - now I would go to Milestone's, just not the one in Coquitlam. Their food all taste overcooked, or flavors are just.... they used to have the 'zing' they had in their food I'm really sad to see such a phenomenal place tarnish over the years :( I still love Milestone's and hold it dear to my heart but I really wish they'd do something about the Coquitlam branch.
