I was with a group of 8. They have a lot of seafood on their menu and I really enjoyed the crab & shrimp flatbread with salad that I ordered. It looked like everyone else was enjoying their lunch selection too. They were very accommodating with my reservation numbers that changed last minute and with adding another table. The service was great and I really liked it that the automatic gratuity was added to our bills because it meant we all paid the same rate which I think is fair to us as a group and the establishment. Went on a sunny Sunday place was busy but were seated right away. Sat on the covered patio was nice and shaded and a perfect view. The service was great and fast. The food came out hot and very good. First time here as I have driven past this Pub many times and wish to give them a try and glad I did finally! Staffs are very friendly and everyone followed the Covid Check-in Protocol and other cleaning procedures to the tee! Menu is extensive for a Pub, on a rainy Wednesday noon, the place was filled and there was hardly a parking space left! Our super nice server Tanya was on her top speed all through as most of the customers all came at once, yet she was still very professional and made sure we got our orders and to our satisfaction! Food: Love their wings, looked dry but actually very moist and well seasoned!! Dry Ribs, super meaty and flavourful, would have been perfect with a huge glass of beer!! Seafood Club!! The crowd was thin, and the sea was angry my friends...... Service was spaced out. The beer seemed fresh and the interior looks updated. But the food.... Oh, the food is a fail. I asked the waitress, and she said, "YUP, THAT'S THE BRISKET.... DO YOU WANT SOMETHING ELSE?" No thanks.... It was pink, chewy and salty, JUST like old ham...... My lunch mates agreed. I've been here a long time ago and I thought my Dad who likes seafood would like it here to celebrate an early Father's Day lunch. We got here just before 1pm on a Thursday and the place was packed. Luckily we found a nice table in the half moon semi-booth area. Our waitress took our drink orders right away and gave us time to review their menu with good selection of traditional pub food and other specialties. I decided to go with the kalamari and my Dad ordered the cioppino. While we waited for our meals, we got a chance to observe the maritime theme and the beautiful view of the Pitt River. I'm not normally a patio eater however if the view is gorgeous, as was the case at the Gilnetter, then I would have asked for a table outside if immediately available. Sadly, most people linger in the patio as I would have. Back to inside the pub, for a packed restaurant, it was quieter than expected, even with the background music. I noticed the clientele was mostly retired people; perhaps because of the time of day. Our food took awhile to come out of the kitchen. At least the person who delivered them was apologetic and the food was still warm. My kalamari was crunchy with a light batter however it didn't taste like much. The tsatsiki was a bit too runny and could also use a bit more garlic and lemon. My Dad really enjoyed his cioppino. It had plenty of shellfish and chunks of salmon and a white fish (halibut?). He said it was a bit spicy but he didn't mind it and would definitely order again. The Gillnetter is a nice neighbourhood pub and I would come back again. Ambience is why anyone goes to Getbetter restaurant and pub. They want a table on the deck and to catch a glimpse of the water in the river. I can think of a lot better things to stare at. The service was excellent, the ambience is something unusual for Vancouver - a Pub with an actual view and decent setting, it's riverside location is definitely unique. For lunch I had the Mussels and frites , calamari appetizer and roasted Brussel sprouts. The mussels where average and underwhelming, the fries excellent. The Brussel sprouts an inspiration. Went to Gillnetter Pub today and we had Haddock fish and chips. The service and drinks was great but food was bad. We felt ripped off, the fish was the size of a weiner and coated with batter, puffed like a pillow and oily. We usually like to support our local business, also sharing experiences is also crucial to other patrons. This place is only good for a pint of beer... Very dissapointed! read more

The ONLY reason to come here is for the view on the patio. You'll wait a decent amount of time for it, but trust me, that scenery is gorgeous. The inside of the pub smells somewhere between stale fried food and shame, also they haven't dusted any of the nautical decorations since 1986. The food is basic AF, typical pub menu that is all previously frozen and tossed in the fryer. Everything else is a sandwiched between two pieces of bread and served with little regard to plating or correct temperature. Mind you, the later might be due to the misanthropic attitude of the serving staff. Also, they refer to Onion Rings as O-Rings, which i'm sure the food has blown a few out. Confusingly, attached at the front of the building is a decent liquor store. Parking is awful because you basically NEED to drive to this place, which means the likelihood of people drinking and driving is high. Seems like a popular stop of people biking along the Fraser River as well, drunk on a bike is OK though right? read more

On Sundays they have all you can eat brunch for 15.95$ and they open at 10:30. My friends got there around 10:25 and there was a line up with about 10+ people in front of them, so I suggest going early and going right when it opens so you have first dibs at the food. They have the food in a buffet style. There is quite a variety of foods. They have bacon, french toast, waffles, a poached egg on an english muffin, potatoes and much more. They also have an omelette bar where you choose your toppings and give it to the guy and he will give you a number and you go back in 5-10 mins to get your omelette. A bit conflicted with this review because service was good despite the covid19 restrictions and the fraser river view was nice for the tricities but the food was a bit meh. We had the Mussel frites and Cioppino. The mussels were in this red thai curry sauce that was very salty but the cioppino stew was good and the flavour was balanced. What made our meal a bit of a downer was that the mussels weren't exactly the cleanest they could be. Some of them still had their hairy beard stuck to them so they definitely didnt get the scrub they needed. The patio tables were situated quite close together but you're separated with a plastic partition so there's a bit of a fake sense of security. But the view was alright and the patio was large with a lot of tables. read more

For awhile I have to say the gillnetter was taking on water and slowly sinking. This evening I was pleasantly surprise, the mains my wife and I had were excellent. very decent portions of seafood. Our starter steak bites were a very nice change from the dry prepackaged to actual pieces of steak. it was nice to see that the place was finally cleaned up and the patio looking very nice. I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. Went for Sunday brunch and it was meh. Nothing special at all. I should have realized they don't care about taste when I learnt their caesars use Clamato off the gun #barf We ordered a couple drinks and the waitress never came back to offer more (until she was bringing the bill; probably to make us think she actually served us somewhat). They had cold scrambled eggs, bacon that was super slow to refill so was usually just bacon bits at the bottom of the tray, tater tots, home style fried chips, hash browns (cubed) and hash brown patties. The majority of the buffet was some kind of potato! The fruit tray was empty when I arrived (at noon) and was never refilled (I left at 1:15). They did have a fruit salad but it looked less appetizing than the del monte ones you get in Safeway. The waffles were also NEVER replenished. I never saw any. Finally for dessert the only thing left was super sweet Rice Krispie treats and the grossest lemon tarts I've ever had. The just took tart shells and filled it with lemon pie filling. I suppose if u are among the first seated, it might be ok but otherwise not worth the money or the wait. Won't go back! read more

I would have rated it higher if they hadn't discontinued their un-breaded chicken wings. It's cozy, a good size, with plenty of parking, and a cold beer & wine store attached. The service is usually pretty good, and the location is great for us. My only low-carb food choice here now are the souvlaki skewers, which are tasty, but there is no more lamb--I guess they had to stop offering it during covid due to increased costs or supply problems. In the summer the patio overlooking the river is a great place to relax. Bring back the low carb! read more

Always wanted to try this place so our small group decided to give it a try. NEVER AGAIN! All five of us received terrible food. The server was okay but not enough staff on for a Saturday night so she was too busy to come to our table that often. First we ordered 3 peach bellini bombs and then were told there were only enough left for two of us. (In a bar?) My friend wanted a pickle in her Caesar and was told they did not have pickles at the bar? The drinks arrived sloppy in sticky glasses. We all ordered appetizers but one never arrived. The brussel sprouts appies were completely burnt. The potato skins were okay but no better than frozen from Costco. Two of us ordered the seafood platter special but honestly, if it was not my daughter's birthday celebration, I would have asked to speak to a manager as they were terrible. The calamari was disgusting. Absolutely everything was terrible from the food to the drinks to the service. Spent over 200.00 for 3 of us and could not believe I wasted my money here. It was quite a drive from where I was to reach this pub. NO MINORS are allowed in to this place because the bar overlooks the beautiful and cozy pub. This pub offers a unique brunch specials every Sunday from 10:30-1:30pm. The food is not spectacular but you have to remember this is a brunch buffet for $15.95. The buffet selections includes waffles, pancakes with syrup and strawberry sauce, Eggs benny (which was quite decent but was overcooked due to sitting in the keep warm pan. Scrambled eggs, Bacon, German sausage (the better sausage), breakfast sausage (the lesser sausage), ham, omelet station (you pick all the ingredients in a small container and the omelet chef will fried it up, remember to tell him to undercook it as he appears to over all the omelettes), decent fruits selections and a ok dessert selections. The hubs and I were looking for a patio that was not pretentious, nor a chain. This meant no Earls, Milestones, Joeys, nor Browns. This led us off the beaten path to The Gillnetters pub in Coquitlam. What? Where? I've jogged past Gillnetters pub in the trail that goes right past the place but had never been curious enough to venture in. So when I was looking for a patio to cool off with a drink on Yelp, I was surprised to find it in the list of places. FYI, the patio is a decent size but it faces east and is shaded. It was great for dinner but I imagine if you wanted direct sun to put your feet up to, a lunchtime or afternoon meal would suit your needs more. Service was friendly and food was your standard pub food with an emphasis on seafood. We started off with two Caesar cocktails each, then chicken wings and chowder, and moved on with mussels and seafood chowder. I know, we essentially ordered three soups! I would definitely come back for the cioppino but not for the chowder or the mussels. The chowder was a bit too hearty and the mussels, although plump and plentiful, arrived with a slightly more acidic sauce than I was accustomed to. That being said I would come back - the Caesars arrived with a plump fresh prawn clinging to the rim and the cioppino really blew my expectations! Hearty chunks of salmon and whitefish, slices of sausage, plump clams and mussels and juicy bay scallops were cooked just right in a tomato based stew. I liked that they used a seasoned base with mirepoix and the portion was incredible for the price. The portion and ingredients in the stew would give "The Cannery" a run for their money, if any yelpers remember that iconic seafood restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is a little run down but if this keeps the prices down (our bill for four drinks, two appies and two entrees came to only $85, including tip!!), I am all for it...I came for the patio, so I wouldn't be sitting in the dining room anyways! read more

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. First off I was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday and called in advance to make a reservation. The staff to start was unfriendly and rude, I should have taken that as an indication of how the night would go. we drove there to find them that we could not enter because my daughter was 16.... No where on the phone or on website did they say no minors allowed. And when they came to tell us they couldn't accommodate us they acted as if we were stupid for not knowing this requirement. I have t been to this pub in twenty years and not much has changed. Stopped in there for some lunch with a friend and the service is typical pub waitress service. I ordered chicken souvlaki with Caesar salad and the chicken was super chewy, the Caesar salad lettuce had that mildewed smell like it was right out of a bag and not fresh lettuce. I ordered chicken wings two flavours. One flavour was mushy and soggy and not good at all. I didn't eat them. The pita bread was right out of the bag and not even quickly buttered and grilled like it's supposed to be. Basically raw bread. Bathrooms were dirty. Nothing else more to say really. They had the same tables and chairs they did when I was last there in 1995 except they are even more worn now. Waitress was a bit salty and took forever to pay our bill because we couldn't find her to pay. Bit dingy with haggard looking biker waitresses. read more

Service is mediocre Fries taste like onion rings which is a big red flag! All dips have a capped plastic container and look like they are shipped in. Burger bun was generic and boring, like it was picked up from a corner store. Lettuce and tomato were pre-shredded and pre-sliced. No pesto mayo on the burger like it says on the menu. My husband and I just had one of the worst restaurant experiences of our lives. We were famished after a kayak, and arrived around 8:30 PM. I ordered the soup and sandwich special and requested easy on the mayo. My husband decided to splurge and go for the $18.95 halibut burger and chose the vegetables as the side. After waiting 25 minutes, we asked one of the servers to check on our order and she said they were just plating it. Another five minutes passed and we said that if the order wasn't coming soon, we would be leaving. Shortly after, our food arrived. I could have overlooked the large amount of mayo between my cheese and the bread which I managed to scrape off. I couldn't overlook the additional gobs of mayonnaise on the other side of the bread, the cold soup that looked more like sludgy chilli than soup, and my husband's burnt, dry and small halibut with a side of dried out vegetable sticks. The waitress said that the kitchen staff were probably having a bad night. I was speechless. If I worked there, I would rather close the kitchen than serve that embarrassing quality of food to customers. We've eaten there years ago and don't remember it being like this. But we never want to chance this again. We left without eating any of our food. And that's saying a lot when we were starving. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I just had one of the most terrible meals I've ever had here and it was the evening special at $16.95. Theoretically grilled halibut in a Mexican cream sauce au gratin. It had obviously been made in advance and reheated too often or just left in the oven too long. The halibut was overcooked and dry and the sauce was so bad that it had separated with the oil lying on the top. My husband took ill while we were there so we had to leave quickly and I did not have time to wait for another meal. This used to be a reliable spot to dine. Very disappointed - where is the quality control? Hopefully the management reads these reviews and will get a hand on their kitchen.
