I am a little biased. I live in the hood and this is my local. In here almost every week. Food: I have been through most of the menu so I know my favs. There have a been a few misses, but mostly hits. Standard pub options like burgers, pizza, beef dip. They have a huge wing flavour menu, so if you like wings this is your place. I really like the mussels on the appy menu. The tomato broth is so flavourful. Make sure your order a side of garlic bread so you can sop it all up. Fridays they have an amazing prime rib special. We like to go for the special and to play trivia from little h entertainment. More on food: When they advertise a special dinner like their recent craft beer dinner. GO! The chef gets his chance to shine. My usual partner in crime K and I rolled out the pub after an epic 3 course meal paired with a pint of craft beer from parallel 49 for each course. Food again: good Sunday brunch. K loves the Frankie's Benny that has crab cake in it. I am partial to their Caesar special. They recently brought back their build your own Caesar special. Staff: awesome! If Jay isn't behind the bar, he is at the door greeting us. Calvin is the manager and he is always out mingling with the patrons. We have never had an issue with the service that has been noted on other reviews. Maybe we don't notice, because we are too busy mingling with the neighbours come in for a quick dinner. Ambiance: there is a little bit for everyone. They have lots of tvs for sports. Not a fan of UFC but they show all the fights. I tend to avoid those nights. Friday night is Trivia. Prizes include g/c to the pub. Summertime they have a big patio. They are planning to expand it to make it bigger. For someone that lives in the area, this is truly a neighbourhood pub. This is a nice little pub. I was only here for lunch and had the fish and chips. It was okay. Tasted a lot like the fish n chips I got at Match. Anyway since it was lunch I didn't check out their beer menu. People were nice and the place was clean. I expect to come back her the next time I am in Vancouver. Maybe after a few drinks I can give it a more thorough review. Definitely worth a try if you've never been. read more

I've been coming to this pub for many years having worked relatively close for 7 years in the early 2000's. It was always ok, but nothing to write home about. Service the same, but today was on a whole new level, and not in a good way. We were sat quickly by a young man, who was friendly. Our server brought us waters with ice and lemon as asked. We ordered a couple of beverages which were dropped in a reasonable amount of time. When we asked for a few minutes to peruse the menu we got plenty of time to do that. PLENTY! I finally stood up and asked the other server if we could please place our order, who then brought us to the attention of our own server. She came over and oh have you had time to decide? No apology for the twenty minutes we had sat. Another couple came in after us, ordered and had the food delivered, by the other server, before we even placed ours. Ordered, asked for our water to be refilled. Never happened. I finally asked another gentleman if we could have more water, and he got it right away. When our food was dropped, there was no mention of our water miraculously appearing. The food was boring, bland, and not overly generous in the portions. My fish pieces were large, but mainly batter, the fries were hot but as soon as they cooled a little they were very greasy. The coleslaw tasted like nothing at all. The lovely K has the Cajun chicken Cobb salad. The presentation was nice, but it was equally underwhelming. The left 3/4's of my plate. The other server came and cleared our plates and asked if I was still working on it. My response, "definitely not!" elicited nothing. We will not return. read more

Nice quiet neighbourhood pub in the middle of nowhere Lulu Island, near the E tip that nobody ever goes to. Parking is available in the lot behind the building. The asphalt has settled in quite a few place, especially next to the stairs leading to the side of the building. Major tripping hazard. See photos. The pub is pretty clean, modern, and quiet. Several TVs showing sports, as well as couple of projectors. Staff are friendly and helpful. I tried some of the baked brownie dessert. Quite tasty. Served in a square mini skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Overall not a bad place to hang out. I'm sure I'll be back at some point. read more

A pub on Queensborough. There are plenty of free parking onsite. My friends and I came here for drinks. I am not a drinker but I just wanted something sweet. I got the ice cream brownie and that wasy super delicious. I really like the atmosphere here. There are patio seating on nice sunny days. We came on a Sunday night and there was only one server working. There are plenty of big screen to catch a hockey or football or any sport games. Menu pricing is pretty much the comparable to any other pubs. read more

Wish I had of read the reviews before I ordered today, it would have saved me the disappointment. Ordered a steak sandwich and opened the box to find a chunk of steak which was so chewy, I couldn't even give it to the dogs, one half of a stale bun, and a few fries, along with what looked like weird food bits that were in the bottom of the deepfryer... it was a sad sight. This is our second take out experience, and it feels like the cooks really don't care about the food they put out. Don't waste your money... read more

If you're into warm beer and waiting 15 minutes for one, this is the place for you! Came in around 3pm on a Sunday one time, it wasn't that busy. We sat at a table near the bar and ordered some drinks ...that took a long time as the bartender was helping a lady setup music bingo or something like that. Finally when our order arrived, our beer was warm. Maybe the fridge was broken since the server mentioned no bottled beer was available?! (try putting them on ice?) Beer special advertised "all craft beers on sale for x amount". Got our receipt and noticed a price difference. Server said it is only certain beers, apparently not the ones we ordered. Why advertise "all craft beers" then? Lame. Overall this place needs better management working with staff on the floor, and probably a better cooler! They had one chance, we like to support local pubs but unfortunately we won't be back. read more

Been here a few times as we live right down the street. We wanted to give it a good couple of tries before we write it off completely but unfortunately that time has come.. The food is sub-par, they used to have a lamb burger that was great but they've removed it from the menu. The calamari (otherwise named but same thing) was horrible, the coating on it was like styrofoam and squid was rubbery and overcooked. The new menu features pizza which I tried to order but their pizza oven wasn't working; tried to order a different meal but they were out of that too. Ended up with a steak sandwich which was cooked well but extremely bland. Drinks are hit and miss. The bellini machine has been broken every single time we've been, the mojitos are sometimes great and sometimes dreadful.. The beer is always good, but that's hard to get wrong. The service is also hit and miss. The girls we've been served by have been very friendly, and always apologetic when they have to tell us they don't have something we've ordered from the menu, or that something is broken. And I'm sure they do their best to bring things out as quickly as they come (I can't be sure as we've only sat on the patio so I can't see them once they go back inside) but food and drinks are slow to make it to the table. Overall, I was very hopeful for this place as it would have gotten a lot of business from us and the people in the neighbourhood with it being the only restaurant/pub within walking distance, but we won't be returning again. read more

We had a horrible experience at this recently reopened pub. We attended a Saturday night friend's 50th B-day. [Several large table groups all seated in the same area. People trickled in from 7pm til 10pm or so for the party. Bills tracked by name.] When we arrived around 7.30pm they were approximately 25% of capacity. Didn't take us long to see that the kitchen and bar were extremely short staffed. Our food orders were placed just before 8pm. Wings. Nachos. Dry Ribs. "The easy stuff." By *10pm* we were pretty much chewing on the menus and taking turns begging...pleading...then crying to the server for our food. It was pub-demonium...people who arrived at 9.30 received their food 15 minutes later. Say whaaat??? With little remorse and lots of shoulder shrugs, all we got was, "we are doing our best". In spite of discussions with the manager by my wife and several other guests, there was not one cent of a discount applied to the bills. Thankfully DJ rocked it and b-day party guests made the best of it for our friends sake. Sadly, the bar was struggling with even basic mixed drinks. My gin 'n tonic and splash of lime was sans tonic and overflowing with lime juice. Basically a huge glass of lime juice topped with gin. They even charged me for the failed drink being fixed. Gross. Do yourself a favor and head over to "Match" at the Starlight Casino nearby. This place is a long way from earning your business and hard earned dollars. The place looks great, modern, clean from inside and out but no AC 3/5 (heard they reopen from fire hazzard) The cleanliness was average, the table they sat us was dirty and suppose to come back to wipe it done for us, which never happen..3/5(end up sitting next table over which was clean) The service and waitressing is very poor, took forever to order food and get the food...and drop by when they felt like it..2/5 (even when its not that busy, try to get their attention) Was not pleased with the appetizers, they served small portions..fries almost seem store bought...and one of the meals was served was kinda oily for a vegetarian meal..2/5 (after with appetizer and meals we order, still felt hungry) Kinda sad, they did not have happy hours like most pubs/restaurants have which is usually 3pm-6pm or daily specials..they would make some business if they did but they dont. Best to go place for drinks and watch games. But don't order for the food, unless you wanna wait long time to eat.. read more

Went when it first opened and it scared me away With poor service, and food and drink errors - decided to give another go, and totally impressed, great beer selection, nice staff, good food. Would have given 5 stars but the prices are a tad too high for my liking - can't win em all though. Better than t was pre-renovation and we look forward to going back with more friends. read more

I went into Frankie G's on Monday, February 10, 2020 at approximately 12:30 pm with a friend to have lunch. My friend has Cancer and has been going through chemo treatments for the past few months. I asked the server when we arrived if we could sit on the patio. The server said "sure" let me check with my manager. All of a sudden a man comes tearing out of the kitchen like his pants were on fire, and automatically as he approached us in a very aggressive manner without introduction, he shouted "NO, NOPE! WON'T DO IT. I won't subject my servers to that. They are wearing very short skirts. I won't do it." But he is more than happy to allow them to actually WEAR the short skirts. I said, it's 8 degrees out. We then requested to sit at a table by the window, and asked if he would be so kind as to open the window for my friend. He said absolutely not. And made a derisive noise and scoffed us. Since we were being treated so poorly, we decided to go elsewhere. As we were leaving, the manager made a horrible remark about us as we were leaving the restaurant in the ear of the server. If this is how this person treats all of his customers, it is very evident why the place was so empty at lunch time. Do better or get a better Manager. Will never return. read more

Such a great neighborhood pub, nice to see the same wonderful team as pre-pandemic. Their Covid-19 protocols are stricter than any restaurant I have seen. Some new additions to the menu: husband really enjoyed the ahi tuna poki bowl, & I enjoyed "the queensborough" pizza, which is like a flatbread. They try to compete with Cactus, even with their prices - the food is lack luster, inconsistent (can get a medium steak 5 different ways in a week). The nickle and dime for everything, a burger with bacon and cheese is over $20 - even if you get their plain burger, a cold McDonald's burger is better. Save your money, eat before you go to drink. The staff is great, management needs lessons in business and people skills. The old GM treated the bar like his own personal pick up grounds, hitting on every female at parties, glad he isn't there. Happy hour is the only reason you should go to this bar. read more

If I had rated FG's right when it reopened, this would have been closer to 5 stars. I think they may have been testing their menu but at the time the options they had were real good. Real gravy, turkey clubhouse - these sorts of things. Since then the menu has been slimmed down and some or most of these items removed. What they have in their place is less enthusiastic and less delicious. I also feel that every time my fiancée and I go there, something from the menu is not available (most recent was the pizza) but you never find this out until you decide what you want and are told you can't have it. It's just a shame as we live right around the corner and we were so excited after our first visit to have a close place that had good food. Now it seems that with each passing visit, we get less and less motivated to go back. read more

This is our local and we usually stop in on a Sunday afternoon for a couple of beers and a round of truffle fries. From our first visit we have been impressed with this place. We stopped by for dinner one night and the food was fantastic. The "kids" meal was huge (only slightly smaller than a full size meal). Our only complaint is that they have a rotating tap, and they write all the beer names on the wall but you have no idea what those beers are. If you ask the server, it's a crap shoot if they know- mostly we get "I don't know I don't drink beer". So my suggestion is either tell the servers or write it on the wall. That way you don't have to awkwardly stand there googling trying to figure out what kind of beer to have. Otherwise, we love this place. read more

Disappointed. I felt that we were overcharged for what we received. Writing this now due to poor service and the food WAS NOT THAT GREAT. Also there is a super unprofessional sign at the front counter during COVID-19 that states "if anyone seats themselves then the staff will be SUPER PISSED OFF" Or something like that. The words "pissed off" are definitely used. We didn't get our take out for 20-25 min as the staff took so unreasonably long to come up and give us our food. Only 2 of the dishes out of our family's dishes were really delicious. The rest were so-so. And so-so does not cut it for that total. We could have gone to sushi a la carte and paid less. I will give them credit for getting our order correct but food that should have been crispy was soggy and the fries were incredibly mediocre. We have not been there in a few years as we were treated rudely by staff before the fire, were trying to give them a second chance today. Epic fail. read more

Awesome find in Queensborough better alternative then Match in the Starlight Casino, drinks are cheaper and food was fresh at hot!!! Hi just finished up dinner at Frankie G's, overall a 5/10 experience. Service was a 10/10 our server was awesome and very attentive and friendly. Food the pasta was fantastic rich and creamy Alfredo sauce lots of seafood, wings were awful the portion was small in size and quantity just the wings are a miss in every way this trip around. The reason for the 2 star review was I had found a piece of glass/plastic in my food which cut the roof of my mouth. The fantastic server was left to deal with it alone I was hoping to speak with a Manager about the issue the removed my meal from the meal with I thought was not enough seeing as my family packed there food after the incident and wanted to leave. Would have loved to hear from Manager about the situation to show that they cared were looking into it. But the service was incredible I don't want to take away from the server. read more

Came here on a sunny afternoon to sit on the patio with 3 friends. We first looked at the regular menu, and then the Happy Hour Menu. We all elected to have the Frankie G burger which was $15 during Happy Hour ($18.75 on the regular menu). After taking my first bite, I noticed there was no cheese or bacon on the burger, so went inside to find the waiter. He came outside a couple of minutes later, and apologized for not telling us that they don't add cheese and bacon during Happy Hour! This was not disclosed on the menu either. So when is a Frankie G burger not a Frankie G burger? Talk about false advertising! And so much for a Happy Hour deal. We all said we would have made different choices had we known. We thought they would knock a couple of bucks off the bill for their oversight, but that didn't happen. Definitely NOT impressed! read more

Live super close, waited for the renovations to be completed in April 2018... the place looks very modern and trendy, great job on the reno. The food and some of service just blew ass! After ordering my food, I over heard 3 different tables complaining about long waits for drinks and food. I waited about 30 minutes (not bad) but the $12 Fish Tacos were bland, barely any fish, and dry. The Classic Frankie G Burger, $19 (after adding the processed cheese, over cooked mushrooms, petrified bacon...) had barely any condiments which would have helped with the burnt sawdust box burger. Got a side of fries, asked for Malt Vinegar, got White Vinegar instead. When I asked the server to bring the malt she claimed she didn't know the difference and told me the restaurant didn't have Malt Vinegar... I asked another server and she reassured me they DO have Malt Vinegar... fml. I ordered the $15 fish and chips to go... the fish had good flavor but had the texture of my leather dress shoes. The batter was greasy, and the coleslaw... didn't even try it. read more

Great atmosphere, if only the food would match. My Caesar salad was sauce, powdered Parmesan, with a side of romaine. Friends commonly complained about meat being dry on their beef/chicken burgers and Philly cheesesteaks. Calamari was well fried, crispy exterior with tender meat, but over salted with am odd tasting mayo. This would be a one star if not for the very pleasant location and patio. Hard to find place, whip out your gps. It's in the back roads once you get past the outlet shopping, way off the busy road. Great location for the locals. And for the hockey games, this is awesome too, own parking in the back plus another one across the street. Have come here a few times for drinks, great atmosphere like an Earl's but without the high prices. Cool that they even have a shuttle to the casino nearby. read more

I want this pub to be good as it is within walking distance to my place. However, in the 4 -5 times I've visted the service is hit and miss. There have been two times where my wife and I have felt that we are being ignored by the wait staff once we sit down. If a place is not busy I feel like good service means being greated by your waitress within 5 minutes of sitting down. Food is ok. I think the best I've had is the prime rib. Burgers are your typical pub fare. Visit in the summer months as their patio is quite nice. read more

I booked a private event for my husband's 35th birthday for 100 people. The owner, Calvin, answered each one of my calls each time, brought in a DJ and even a tech to ensure the smooth delivery of my video tribute that was to play on the surround sound. The food was probably better than Cactus and Earl's, the salsa was fresh and the strips and fries were gourmet. All the guests kept telling me that this was the best service they have ever received; everyone always had a drink in their hand and the service was the best I have ever received. It felt like we were in our own private lounge in Gastown yet we weren't as far away. The brick walls and industrial feel of the place was so chic, yet warm and inviting. Went for lunch today and so disappointed. During these times you would think they would step it up. My husband and I each ordered the sliders. $14.50 For 2 tiny tiny sliders. I remember going before and getting 3 sliders. Our bill came to $48.00 for 2 orders of sliders and 2 drinks. Come on guys what a rip off. Won't be back. This was was my first visit here, and I was very impressed with the food and the service we received. I had the prime rib it was the best I've ever eaten! My friend had the lamb shank, and it was done in red wine, had a very, very, good taste! I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

Oh Frankie G's, I try really hard to love you but you make it pretty darned impossible. First off, the server always seems to screw up our drink order. Easy Ice? Not a hard one but you know hey, servers are rocket scientists these days! I keep giving you a chance but your servers still can't get a highball right. Having said that, you should hire the bartender at the Queens Hotel with the birds on her chest. She gets it right every time and she's a sweet person. read more

Been here a handful of times, and brunch here is by far my favorite. Lunch/dinner is OK, haven't been wowed by any of their dishes. Their Benny is one of the best I've ever had - i like buttery hollandaise sauce, buttery & crispy on the outside & soft on the inside English muffins, crispy bacon & the crispiest potatoes! Now the crispy prosciutto they give you is like the size of a toonie, but the bacon portion is pretty good (one strip cut in half on each Benny) I wasn't hung over when I had the Benny, but I know it would give me life if I were! Food is decently priced & have a good selection of drinks. Based on other reviews it seems to have come a long way from what it was (thankfully! Since we live a short walk away). The servers we've had were really good - coming around for refills & asking if the food's good without being too intrusive.. but if you're sitting on the patio, they aren't that attentive even when it isn't busy. read more

22.08.18 Three of us had " lunch " on Monday Aug 20th. As friends live few minutes down the road we were ( repeat ' were ') quite frequent visitors - before the fire... Steak sandwich was so bad - 50 % fat and gristle and inedible, bun was stale and the fries cold.I complained about the " steak " and it was replaced ( with steak only ) and the replacement was only slighlty better The Club sandwich was almost totally inedible the fries equally cold and was left 90 % un-eaten.. No question asked by the server if there was any problem This was first visit since the re-opening and it will be our last particulary for $70.00 Suggestion ..?? drive a few minutes more and go to TUG BOAT ANNIES .. jm west vancouver read more
