For dinner I had the Friday Steak and Prawns special. 10 juicy garlic prawns and a NY strip loin steak cooked how you like it. This place was very popular, especially with the local residents. I told a friend living in the area I was there and she said her neighbors were just there. It was very busy when we got there just after 5 pm. Some tables were reserved but we managed to find a table right deep in the belly of the pub restaurant. After seeing the prices of the daily specials, I could see why this place was packed. $0.50 wings on Mondays and Thursdays. That's considered a steal now. And $13.95 steak sandwich on Thursdays. Another good deal. We had the steak sandwich and wings. Both were good. You just had to buy a drink (non alcoholic is fine too) to enjoy the special. Service was typical pub service. AL, apparently your floor manager is very rude and dismissive!!!. His way or the highway??!!! Really???? Ok, I came in at a busy time. No choice had to sit near a table at the window. I closed the blinds because of glare . Couldn't stream on my phone and a privacy issue. Every time I opened the blinds he closed them. I left the window beside me alone but that wasn't good enough!!! Not once did he even ask if it was OK or even explain why BOTH window blinds had to be opened!!! When I on the third closure , asked him why he kept opening them he didn't apologize, just said sharply the waitresses needed to see outside for customers. He was rude, spoke sharply. Busy or not he shouldn't treat people that way!!! He spoiled my whole night. Another customer came over and said he was fired before for treating g people this way. Why do you keep him on??? I met some friends here for a drink after work and I was pleasantly surprised that I was a fan. It's the perfect dive bar if that makes sense. It's got decent drinks and good bar food. Well I had fish and chips and it was pretty good. I ordered some coors lighrs with my food. It was very busy around 4 pm. My waitress was friendly and pretty good. The ambiance was wooden seats and if I remember correctly, sool booths. I would go back here if I was in the area and I just wanted a few drinks or late lunch. It fits the vibe it's going for. Went to their lobster fest the last 2 years and things have gone down hill. First off they have the doorman serving plates and touching things on tables when he puts things in garbage including pushing his hand down inside then serving plates without washing !!! Hello geez we just had a world wide problem due to this type of unsanitary practices. Same snotty waitresses and too boot the lobsters are tiny, one of my claws was really small. Not worth $40 for tiny lobster, and water everywhere on the potatoes, corn and bun. The food at this place is fantastic and super affordable. Stopped in here for brunch after a hike in Belcarra. The place was busy but we had our drink orders fast, and the food arrived hot and tasty shortly afterwards. I had steak and eggs, the eggs were perfectly scrambled and the steak was nicely seasoned and perfectly medium rare, Came with hashbrowns and toast as well. All for under 10 bucks! The waitress was fast and efficient, which at first came off as curt, but I soon realized it's because she had the top priority of getting us our orders fast... Love that! Sure this place it's not going to win any architectural design awards anytime soon, unless there is a category for sketchy strip mall chic, but don't let that fool you. Great spot!! read more

The old ANGRY door guy/busser was a rude d-bag. He actually yelled at us and called us 'broads' for not wanting to sit 2 feet away from the live band. It was so unsettling. I also saw him arguing with several other patrons. He needs to not work with the public. I will never go back because he was always lurking around the tables barking orders at customers and even a few servers. Looming angry energy....beat it. No thank you. The experience at Arm's Pob was disappointing. On two separate occasions, we encountered rude staff, cold food, and overcharging. The first visit involved disrespectful service from an elderly couple, and they even charged us for a soft drink they never brought. Despite expressing my concern, the issue was not resolved. A year later, we gave it another chance with friends, only to face mistreatment again. I recommend avoiding Arm's Pob due to these negative experiences. I never recommend this Pob. The lunch service was impeccable, the covid dividers are the smartest thing I have seen and many things added up to enjoyable lunch, at this restaurant. Where to start... majority of the seating is bar/bench seating, slippery seats that are difficult to sit on, unpleasant smells and the only pull tabs available to buy were empty stacks. But what really topped it off was the service. I have to agree with Michelle's review, Angry Old Guy set the mood as soon as we walked in the door, not very welcoming. Bartender wasn't much better, was very impatient and abrupt, like we were wasting his time sitting at his bar. Once our food and drinks were served, we didn't see him again till our meals were done and our drinks had been empty for 10 minutes... did I mention we were sitting at his bar? We frequent many pubs in the tri cities, and this one is one of the worst. Won't ever return. read more

There's something awesomely kitschy about this place. It appears that they have not changed any decor in the last 40 years, with the exception of installing newer, flatter, sharper televisions, on which you can watch whichever game you like. It also feels as if the same people have come to the pub for the last 40 years. They also have keno, a poker game, and a number of other diversions. The food menu is varied and greatly inexpensive. You can get a breakfast on the weekend for less than 4 bucks. I should also note that the service is very friendly and that my wife's cousin works here. read more

Another review where I wish I could give half stars. This would be a 3 and half. I wanted to round up, but then I thought, "Would I go here to eat voluntarily and on my own if not going with people I am working with?" And the answer is No. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about this place, and for what it is, it is good. Hence the 3 and half stars. I want to like it more, but the food, which while cheap, is only okay. The prices are awesome, and I think they must be the last place in BC that offers 25 cent wing specials. The halibut burger, however, includes a piece of deep fried halibut, rather than grilled, so I was disappointed with that. I had a wrap once, too, and it was all right. Again, very reasonably priced, since you get fries or salad with almost everything. Meals are about $6.99 each. There is almost nothing but salads on the menu for vegetarians, however. Not even a veggie burger. So that was a half star off. The place certainly attracts its regulars, and some rough looking folk. But the service is really great, and fast, even when busy at lunch. And yes, there are a lot of TVs. You could probably see a minimum of 4 from just about any angle in the room. read more

I'm giving this place a 4/5 for what it's worth -- don't go expecting a trendy place with a cosmopolitan crowd! If you want no-frills, cheap food, and few good laughs (I mean that in a nice way), this is the place to be. When you first walk in it almost seems like you are on someone else's turf as you see all of the regulars turn and glance in unison. But it's definitely not a threatening atmosphere - in fact, it would be unusual if someone at the next table didn't strike up a conversation with you! Although this place and some of the staff may appear to be a little rough around the edges, they know how to keep their customers happy and they always seem to have a full house. The Arms is Poco's equivalent to Vancouver's Jolly Taxpayer (before it was torn down - too bad I loved that place). It's got it's own ambiance going on. The servers are attentive but not overly friendly which I like. The food is typical pub food. I had the prime rib burger and it was delicious. The caesar salad wasn't good. I went to the pub 15 after 9 with my girlfriend. We sat down, and I ordered a blue rare steak. First time we get the steak, it came out well done. This happened frequently at this pub every time we bought steak; I was like "no worries! It's ok. Can I get it redone?" The second time it comes out, it came out frozen, mushy, unnaturally dark, tasteless, unevenly cooked, stiff steak. My girlfriend takes a bite and she said," this tastes like a tasteless grey piece of mush." I became incredibly irritated they had the audacity to serve frozen food, so I asked to talk to the kitchen staff. A manager named Marc comes to our table and we explain what was wrong and his reaction was priceless. He started lecturing us about how blue rare steak was supposed to be cold(it was frozen) and that we didn't know what we were getting (we legit go to steak house often, my girlfriend almost always getting blue rare) and that the steak here isn't right for us.(maybe because it's frozen?) He then proceeds to lecture about public display of affection and how making out in a pub made three people uncomfortable and that he would like to keep things "adult like"..... In a pub. What do you expect from a pub? Awestruck, we decided that it wasn't our best interest to talking to a hard headed three year old boy who is flexing his ego rights over him serving us frozen food and who dumps his loneliness to his customers. We leave the place around 9:45 and 20 minutes later, I start to have an intense gagging session. For the entire night I had stomach cramps, excessive burping, nausea, and even more gagging. When I woke up around 7 am, I started having intense stomach cramp, and started having explosive diarrhea for nearly 20 minutes. The arms used to be our go to date place and our hang out place, and we're never going back again, because our experience there was horrific that night. This is why you should never let a three year old boy who thinks it is ok to serve a frozen steak run a restaurant. Ps. The manager has gotten into a fight with my girlfriend's dad before. He is super calm and patient even during his biggest dispute, my girlfriend rarely seem him yell and Marc made him start yelling even when my girlfriend's dad was giving him multiple chances. Fuck you Marc. Also, we will miss you Elizabeth, you have been very kind and pleasant to us, we thank you for your service. I wish I could have tipped you better. Edit: 8:34 am, another wave of explosive diarrhea. I feel extremely nauseated, dehydrated, even more cramped up, and feeling more hatred towards Marc. And one more thing: fuck you Marc. Food is good, drinks are cheap! Has a very authentic, classic pub atmosphere. The only downside I've encountered was from the other patrons, which are typically older men. It's hard to relax and have a good time with your friends when you're being harassed by old guys. Just a heads up for the ladies, try to ignore the creeps. read more

As a complete experience, it was awesome. I was visiting from the states for the first time and my friend from the area didn't know what I'd think but I LOVED it. Different drink and food specials daily, tv's everywhere, food was seriously good and the staff was super friendly. Overall it was very much a local haunt which doesn't make outsiders feel out of place. Definitely made my first Vancouver experience a memorable one and I look forward to revisiting it when I return. read more

That how they get around no reservations only for his 2 buddies to sit a few minutes later. Hey, I just moved to PoCo six months ago and found the Arms by accident. The beer store staff are the friendliest I have ever encountered. The pub staff is equally friendly and even give birthday drinks and also big hugs on New Years Eve. The daily specials can't be beat for price or tastiness anywhere, guaranteed. I have tried downtown, East End, West End, New West, Burnaby, etc. but this place takes the cake. Good food, great service and very inexpensive. read more
