I visited Cactus Club Cafe for a friend's birthday gathering. We shared appetizers, including chicken wings, lettuce wraps, sushi, and calamari. The lettuce wraps were sweet and spicy, and the chicken wings were just okay. The sushi rice could have been a bit softer. The calamari, was crunchy and well-seasoned--it was the best dish of the appetizers. We ordered steak, poke bowl, Caesar salad, and salmon, one for each person. I had the tuna poke bowl, which included a variety of ingredients like tuna, lettuce, avocado, cucumber, edamame, and tempura bits, all served on top of rice. It was an okay dish. For dessert, a few friends ordered cheesecake, and I chose the peanut butter crunch bar served with ice cream. The peanut butter crunch bar was delicious. The slight saltiness on the surface of the cake which was dense, flavorful peanut butter perfectly. We enjoyed celebrating our friend's birthday party here. getting to surrey was an ordeal--crossing the pattullo bridge in heavy rain during rush hour, and experiencing construction delays stretched the drive longer than it should have been. with two hours to kill before our next event, we figured, it's happy hour, and we need a drink, so why not? we pulled into cactus club in delta by new orleans square around 4:30 pm on a tuesday. this place is spacious, and we were seated immediately. the interior had a warm, upscale yet cozy vibe, with leather booths, wood paneled walls, and exposed wooden beams. the space felt open and inviting. we got a comfy booth, and service was on point. we started with a frozen sangria sunset soda and a longboard lager and decided to share the cheddar burger, upgrading to truffle fries (because, why not?). our server offered to have the burger cut in half, which was a nice touch. the burger was stacked and loaded, featuring a juicy beef patty topped with melted cheddar cheese draping over the edges. it came with a thick cut tomato, shredded lettuce, relish, ketchup, and mustard. but the real star? the truffle fries. crispy, golden, and tossed in truffle oil, with just the right amount of parmesan and salt for that extra savoury kick. while making a mess of my burger, we also decided to order one of my go-tos, the med bowl. it's colourful and makes me feel like i'm eating healthy. the med bowl was a mix of turmeric rice (which, unfortunately, was clumpy and didn't seem fresh), beetroot hummus, kale, cucumber, red onion, tomatoes, feta, kalamata olives, yogurt, pickled red cabbage, and falafel. for the coffee lovers--no café lattes, mochas, nor matcha drinks here, just regular or decaf coffee--but at least they have oat milk. read more

We were in the area after driving from Richmond and decided to stop by this location for lunch! Not too busy on a weekday after a long weekend. Interior is quite spacious with patio seating as well. I think this location had the best service out of all the ones I've tried - all the waitresses were so nice and cleared off our used plates quickly. We ordered 1 appy, 1 salad, and 2 mains to share between 3 people and it was more than enough. Salmon aburi roll ($19.75) was decent but rice fell apart - obviously not a sushi restaurant so my expectations are low. For this price it's pretty mediocre though because I bet Miku rolls are around the same. Kale and avocado salad ($18.25) was quite refreshing with dressing that was tart. Chicken tenders ($19.75) are as you would expect - I always get this when I'm here. Outside was crunchy but inside was dry if you eat it without sauce. I do like their fries a lot! We also got the Spaghetti Portofino ($26.75) that was slightly spicy but flavour was good. It also had a reasonable amount of seafood. One thing I struggle with is that the food is always a bit too salty and/or too oily for me. I drank probably 5 glasses of water at the restaurant and more after I left. Cactus is always what you expect - nothing more and nothing less. Never blows me away but a good choice when you want to eat some elevated western food. read more

SOUTH SURREY CACTUS WOULD NEVER.. We were a large party of 8 and had the worst experience, mind you this was the first time coming to this location. The service was terrible from the start: no one came to our table for at least 15 mins once we were seated (it was fairly busy for a Thursday before the long weekend), the waitress mixed up the drink orders (one drink was comped), again we had to flag down our waitress each time we wanted to order, we ran out of water which wasn't replenished, it took over an hour to get our food order in, our table was as never cleared, AND one of the orders had a specific allergy (no dairy) and were told that the item was free of dairy when it wasn't (this could have potentially been very serious). I'm an avid Cactus consumer (lol) and I've never had service as bad as I did at this Delta location. DO NOT COME HERE. instead choose one of their other locations or even another restaurant - we have copious amounts to choose from :) read more

Food was horrible, I could have gone to the corner fast food Mexican restaurant. Ordered chicken pesto quesadilla, what came out was a flat burned lifeless pita bread. I was shocked no filling at all, no cheese or tomato. My table told me to speak up. The way restaurants are cutting corners and raising prices is ridiculous. Tried the grilled dijon salmon for the first time! And also got the yam fries because I was craving haha. The yam fries were a crispy delight in my soft mouth. Salting was on point but I didn't like the dipping sauce it came with. It tasted a little pickle-y, which I didn't like. I would've rather just had mayonnaise or a garlic aioli. The grilled dijon salmon was delicious! I really liked the flavour of the sauce. I'm not too enthusiastic about mustard, but the flavour here wasn't too strong -- it had a good balance. It's a light dish that won't leave you feeling too heavy. The portion felt a little small though. Service was impeccable and the ambiance is like any other Cactus--casual fine dining. read more

Our first meal in Canada and we took it to go because the wait was 45 mins for a table on a Sunday evening and we had been on the road all day long The hostess let us know they did do take out and let us look over a menu - I then placed the order online, went to drop off all our bags at the AirBNB and the order was ready soon after for pick up. I haven't been to this location for awhile now so decided to drop by for a late dinner to see how they are nowadays. This location is located on 120th street on the Delta side of Surrey, directly across from the Keg. There are a plentiful of parking spaces. We were greeted by 2 hostesses when we entered the restaurant (they don't open the doors for customers anymore?). After a short wait we were seated, it seemed like a busy night because of the Happy Hours they have starting at 9pm, but I don't really care much for that. Our waitress was nice, but could be a little bit better if going by the book standards. The floors definitely needed some cleaning and the tables be cleaned properly between customers. Anyways, here were the food we ordered; 1. Spicy ahi roll. This little roll is a a bit disappointing, lack of flavour and not even spicy. 2. Ravioli + prawn trio. A bit cold so kind of killed the flavour a bit, normally I actually enjoy this appetizer ever since it was first introduced to the menu. 3. Louisiana hot wings. They tasted pretty decent but a bit dry and small. Sorry Boston Pizza's wings are still ahead with this one. 4. 2x millionaire's cut 7oz filet mignon. The mashed potatos were really good, nice texture and buttery. However some of the asparagus were a bit old and stringy and the filet almost had that powdery taste to it, that was a bit weird. I don't know if it's me or the Cactus Club chain is slowly spiralling down, I don't feel how it used to be before in terms of services and its food quality. I know for a fact it used to take a lot of pride in its customer care and spent a lot of time and money in mystery shoppers to assure every locations were on top of their game. Yeah I get it, it's after 9pm and we do get tired when it's closer to the end of the day, but as I watched a few different staffs cleaned the tables between customers, it was not really appealing; one or two wipes, crumbs were still laying on the tables like beach whales and dirty napkins still under the tables. Anyways, our server was decent but the food quality could've been better. I should've went to the Keg across the street?!?! Yikes, this place has gone well over the top. 25$ for Chicken sandwich in a bun. Now I know that business is struggling but this place is at best pub grub with 4 Prices. I ordered a coffee upon arrival and was told there was no cream. Cmon! I got the coffee it was cold. Served with whole milk. Still charged me! There is a lot of competition in the area. After watching several groups of young people get served I decided to speak up . The lady that took our drinks never came back . When I did manage to get someone , it was oh I'm off shift , someone should have served you, she then took our order, later on I see her serving other large groups. Guess we weren't worth her while. Have been coming here for a while now and every time they make another reason to come back. Its located right on the scott road in a quite plaza. Infact the restaurant gets all the parking spots coz not many tenants in the buildings around. Greetings to making u seated at your table- all is taken care of very nicely. Beautiful faces with beautiful smiles greet you. Good service and amazingly huge portions of food serving. Appetizers and sides can be a full meal for a person with small appetite. Happy hours between 3-6pm n they got list of drinks to try from. My all time tofu bowl is a must to try for vegetarians along with ginger mocktail. But all the mains and bowls are amazing. read more

In Dec 2020 my husband and I had ordered through door dash. I specifically noted I am allergic to peanuts and I ordered the lettuce wrap without peanuts. I have ordered this many times before without issues. My container said no nuts on it so I ate a few bites of the meal and then noticed there were a few peanuts in my dish. Luckily I did not eat the actual peanut itself but due to it being in my food I did have a slight allergic reaction. When I called the restaurant, they apologized but I didn't get a refund on my meal. I didnt think it was right for me to pay for this. Therefore I reached out to door dash who provided me that refund. Really it should be cactus refunding as skip the dishes didn't make that mistake. A couple days later I spoke to Frances from the restaurant who apologized and ensured me the kitchen has been aware. I appreciate the apology however I was advised to make things right they would provide me a gift card. It is now April 2021 and this has not been received. I emailed the restaurant and received no responses. Although I appreciate the apology, I don't appreciate the promises of a gc if there was no intention of this to be sent. Thank goodness I did not eat the actual peanut because if I did, I could have ended up in the hospital (I have had a peanut reaction so bad before where I went to emergency). Pleasantly surprised by the 'beyond burger' addition to the menu. I asked the waitress to make sure it was cooked seperately away from meat in a different on or grill, and she confirmed that they do cook the beyond burger separately. Whew!!! I really enjoyed the burger a lot but the truffle fries were pretty bland were not truffley enough. The best item was the ginger/jalapeño drink -delicious! I would also like to add the food came in a timely manner and the service was very good. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Very professional. Came by for some lunch. Parking is plentiful in the nice large lot next to the building. As with other locations, the restaurant is split into a bar area, as well as a restaurant area. There is also a nice large patio. Plenty of space available in this part of the Lower Mainland. Staff were friendly and quick. No complaints there. The Feenie burger I had was actually pretty good. Good thing they put a toothpick through the thing, as the toppings were spilling out as I bit into the thing. The bun is physically quite thick, so be sure to open wide. My only complaint is that the fries (and this applies to the entire chain) are rather mediocre. Maybe they need to fry them more. Overall, the experience is consistent with the other locations. Now if only the view from the patio wasn't of Surrey across the street. read more

I have been eating at this restaurant in N.Delta for years, and today I wanted t order take out lunch, I couldn't do that over the phone anymore, so I tried o use their website, all was good until I came to check out and my option was to pay by credit card or gift card, I don't live on credit, I buy my day to day stuff on debit. That's combing thought the costumers eliminating elderly, new immigrants who don't speak good English, mentally challenged people and computer illiterate people. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly and efficient service while dining with my friends. They were good at accommodating a food allergy. I ordered a frose, tuna poke bowl and caramel chocolate mousse. Slushy alcoholic drinks are my usual go to choice of beverages. It is a lot of sugar but I find these drinks refreshing during the summer heat. The frose was pretty good. I would prefer Milestones bellini but this was still good. The poke was decent although I think it was a tad overpriced when a poke shop does it better with more customization options. The dessert was the perfect size! Well, that was super disappointing. I have been to this Cactus about 100 times over the past 5 years and typically I am at a Cactus once a week or more. Usually Byrne Road or Lougheed is the Cactus of choice. Tonight, my wife and my two little girls and I decided on Cactus over The Keg. To be honest, the last three years we have found The Keg has been providing a worse cut of steak than previously....and I worked for The Keg for close to a decade. We arrived, our server was new but SUPER friendly and definitely well trained. We ordered a full sized pasta for the kids to split and a Tuna Stack to start for my wife and I. Along with with that we also added two 9 oz glasses of wine. The pasta for the girls was fantastic and the Tuna Stack was exactly as always (yummy). Then came out mains. Ugh. My wife ordered the 8oz sirloin creole, medium rare, with shrimp and veggies. I ordered the 12 oz peppercorn New York, medium rare with veggies. My wife's steak was overcooked and tasted of charcoal. The shrimp, were actually perfectly cooked and the sauce was excellent. Her kale salad was also excellent (she had the salad instead of her potatoes). My steak, on the other hand, was not only overcooked, but way overcooked. It tasted of briquettes. Literally. Unfortunately, for one of the very rare times, we sent our food back. It sucked to have to even do it....but there really was no choice. Management came by and was awesome about it, which was much appreciated. Any time you send something back, you get those inevitable feelings of regret, even when you know you need to do it. Our second order came out (and our two little girls were somehow still keeping it together!) and.....even worse. My wife's was overcooked, which sucked, but mine? It was charred BLACK on the bottom. Again, it tasted like absolute as*. I couldn't believe it. A medium rare steak, on a remake, comes out charred and medium well-well. Like.....really? We tried....but we couldn't eat it. We flagged the server down (again, not her issue), and told her it was inedible. She had the manager come over and he apologized profusely when he saw the steak in front of me. He asked if he could bring us anything else, but already seemed defeated. He didn't say 'dude, this is unacceptable, we should be able to cook a $45 stead properly', he just asked if maybe he could get us something other than a steak. Like.....really? We gave up. Our bill was over $100 and we left....I still haven't eaten anything more than a few bites of Time Stack and it is almost 10pm. This wasn't our server's fault....this was a kitchen issue and then an issue with management. You shouldn't ever have a good customer walk out your door feeling like we did. It's sad. It should be embarrassing. $100 for two kids meals and some wine. Wow. Back to The Keg I guess. Update: 9 months later and ZERO response from Cactus. Seriously. Wow. read more

Last night me and a few friends decided to try the Cactus Club for dinner, when we arrived the parking lot was 99% full so we knew there was going to be a wait, after-all it was a Saturday night at prime time. We were greeted immediately by the hostess and the manager opening the doors for us, they said the wait would be around 25 minutes, it turned out to be only 10 minutes which was amazing. Once at our table the waiter dropped off the menus and returned very shortly to take our drink and food orders. I ordered the 12oz Peppercorn New York Striploin cooked medium with the pernod peppercorn demi-glace, buttered mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus & I added the sautéed creole jumbo prawns. The guys in the kitchen absolutely killed it! My steak was cooked perfectly, it was flavourful and juicy. The potatoes were whipped and buttery. The asparagus was delicious. The prawns were definitely a highlight, I'll never order the steak without adding those delicious jumbo prawns! I'm not sure if this is a new location or not but the layout and decor are perfect. The booths are big and very comfortable. The staff all seem very knowledgeable about the menu. I loved my experience tonight. I would definitely return and I highly recommend you give this place a try! read more

Dropped by for happy hour for two, wasn't too busy 5 minute wait. We ordered an old fashion to start as well as a salad wrap to go at the very beginning, so the order would be ready at the same time the bill was paid. Our drinks were brought to us, after drinking a few sips the waitress brings the old fashion and advised she had brought us the wrong drink to start with, as the first drink was not bad, we asked if we could have both, she says yes but we would have to pay for both the drinks.. that's fine, cactus club usually comps the order if they mix it up, no big deal $13 drink. The same waitress then spills a whole tray of water with glass breaking al over the patio at the table next to us, spilling all over a customer. Maybe she's having a rough day but she also forgot our salad wraps at the end. We waited 30 minutes after paying the bill for our salad wraps. read more

Our first time here at Cactus Club and I'm really impressed with the service and food quality. The atmosphere is really calm & fun at the same time. The staffs all look like models and they're all very friendly as well. This place is on the pricey side, but it's because of the service and food quality. You really get what you paid for and it's really worth it. For our appetizer, we've ordered Calamari, Dry Ribs, and Spicy Chicken. The Calamari was really yummy. It is lightly breaded and it's mixed with fried spicy banana peppers and jalapeños. It's really good. The portion size is big, too. It also comes with two sides of dipping sauce. Chipotle Aioli and Tzatziki. The Dry Ribs was really yummy as well. It has crushed sea salt and white & black pepper flakes with dried parsley for garnish. The Dry Ribs didn't come with any dipping sauce though. For the Spicy Chicken, it's actually looks like an asian-style appetizer. It comes with deep fried wonton wraps and the chicken chunks are deep fried and battered. It's in this sweet & sour sauce, like the one you use for spring rolls. It's garnished with lots of chives which I think adds a little kick to the flavour. For our main, we ordered Hunter Chicken and Cheddar Bacon Burger. For the Hunter Chicken, the chicken tasted like it was chargrilled. It comes with portobello and shiitake mushrooms as well served on top of green beans in a wine reduction sauce. It was really good, however, the chicken skin was chewy and wasn't crispy. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be cooked that way. The Cheddar Bacon Burger was really good as well. Comes with fries and ketchup dip. All in all, we enjoyed our visit here and will definitely come back to try out other options in their menu. read more

This was my first time to a CCC. We were visiting BC in June. I was really excited since I always wanted to try this place. The food was great. I really loved my burger. The service was satisfactory. The only buzzkill was the seating arrangement. We were 9 people. They seated us on a relatively small table for 9 people. We asked for a relocation to a certain section of the bar. But we were told that it is closed for the night. It is understandable because it was really late. But we were not happy with the table that we were relocated to. It was almost like 2 separate tables. The group didn't feel like we were there together. Except this experience, we had an overall OK visit. Would like to mention the food again. Due to the current situation a lot of my usual eateries are closed, so we ordered take out from this cactus location twice in the last 2 weeks. They have a tent set up in front of the entrance so all you have to do is tell her name and they bring your bag out to you. I still feel like there should be a plastic shield separating customers and the staff because I had to get pretty close for the worker to hear me say my name. Also, I could see the workers inside gathered close around - probably organizing meals into bags. But they were very clearly not social distancing, which made me kinda question their "increased sanitization efforts." Regardless, I appreciate what cactus is doing to stay open and feed the community (and frontline workers! Their "hero" meals are pretty nice). The food was decent. I usually get the Crispy chicken burger, but for some reason it tasted bland. The following time I got the Cajun Chicken Sandwich which was much better! For both orders I found the fries very lacking. The were similar in size and texture to McDonalds fries, but didn't taste nearly as good. I much prefer whitespot fries! All in all, I'll stick to dining in at cactus as a place to catch up with friends, rather than a regular eatery. read more
