Came here for my mom's birthday dinner at 7pm for 6 people on August 19 that I mentioned the special occasion. I came in with an apple tart that I handmade and gave to the hostess to put in the fridge and told her it was to be brought out for dessert. We were squished into a booth not ideal for 6 people to comfortably have a nice birthday dinner. We ordered our meals, my brother had the creole steak (ordered medium rare) and prawns, the steak was overcooked to beyond well done. My mom's burger came with the salad and no dressing, it took several attempts to flag our waiter that my brother had to get off his seat and get him. Then the manager came telling us the bad news that they gave the apple tart to the wrong table and said we can get you another cake at Superstore?! We were beyond upset to say the least and it's unbelievable that an establishment like Cactus Club can make such an error like that. I got calamari, truffle fries and the blackened chicken during the late night happy hour and I had no complaints. My friend did get the happy hour steak and it was tough for a medium rare but they comped her drink as an apology. It was a nice ambiance, plenty of dates going on around us. Great happy hour! I tried the Tuna Temaki. I did remove the slices of Serrano off the top. It still had quite a bit of kick to it but the flavor was excellent. We had an issue with one of our meals and he promptly dealt with it, The steak was a terrible triangular tougher end piece cut, left us wondering why this would have been served to a customer. And although it took at least ten or more minutes to receive the replacement steak, the new steak was much improved in texture and it was cooked perfectly, evenly tender and was quite tasty, however everyone else at the table was already done their dinner and the rest of my dinner was cold by then. The ambience was quite noisy for an early dinner time reservation at 4:30 on a Saturday. It's always quite busy at this location. Reservations are definitely recommended. We ordered the truffle fries and sushi (prawn crunch roll) to share. I always love the truffle fries at Cactus Club. They were so tasty. The sushi was delicious as well. Good portion size. I ordered the Hunter Chicken and key lime pie. The Hunter Chicken was super delicious. It was somewhat over cooked but good thing I had lots of sauce to compensate for it. The mashed pototoes were tasty. I wish the chicken portion size was a bit bigger. I had to get a dessert because I was still slightly hungry after that. The key lime pie was very tasty. It was a nice treat to finish the meal off. Service was good. We sat outside in the enclosed patio seating. The heaters were not working at that time but good thing that it wasn't too cold outside either. There are plenty of free parking in front of the restaurant. Recently went to this location for a lunch date with my husband. Must be something in the water because this location never misses. Always amazing food AND service. Our server Tara was truly one of a kind. She made our entire experience feel so special and memorable. She recommended we start with the carpaccio and a side of their iconic truffle fries.
