I love coming here to celebrate or just for a good date night. I visited for their taste of tri-cities menu and the beef cheek ragu which you MUST order. The ragu and the tiramisu are both MUST orders if you come here. I also loved the tuna crudo that was part if the set menu. My partner said the appetizer truly left you wanting more! The ragu was perfect as always the the beef cheek just melts in your mouth. I wasn't a big fan of the gnocchi as it was too soft for my liking. I always think gnocchi has a more chewy consistency which is what I enjoy more. I wish I ordered the other pasta as part of the set menu... maybe that just means I need to go back! Behind the tiramisu is also the pistachio gelato which was very smooth and creamy and very nutty.

I brought my parents here today to celebrate my mom's 83rd birthday and our experience was truly beyond expectation. The design of the restaurant is so bright and airy - even on a rainy day. I can imagine with the sunshine, it would be stunning!! Our server was Sheila and she was absolutely the best. She made sure everything was perfect for my mom and made our visit so very special! The food was incredibly delicious - started with original burrata with fresh focaccia bread which is definitely worth the splurge. My dad enjoyed the seafood pasta while my mom and I shared the arugula and fennel salad and the mushroom risotto. We finished off with a pistachio cherry gelato that was perfect! My mom can't stop talking about what a special day it was. Thank you Gigi's for the incredible hospitality.

We had an amazing time checking pout Gigi's. The food is unreal and the service was so fast. The drinks here are so good too. This is an incredible addition to Coquitlam, and the location is amazing. The decor here is so nice and bright. Definitely would recommend checking this place out if you're in Coquitlam and looking for some great Italian food.

This review is for GIGi at Pavilion where it shares the WC with Nemesis. Again, gorgeous ambience and interiors especially when the sun is out shining in the midst of summer. This place has a solarium feel especially with couple of planted trees(!!!). Nice touch. Service was exceptional. Our waitress was especially friendly and bubbly, very unusual of modern waitresses, goth and cynical. She kept on bringing us and pouring water with her smile. Food-wise, we had a 12" pizza, beef tartare, caesar salad and meat balls. Food is of high quality and good ingredients, very typical affair when you visit Italy. Authentic. Best thing is, it is an early Bday meal, pricing did not interfere with the experience or this review. Recommend

I had a very enjoyable dining experience here. It was hard to get a reservation but we were able to snag one for lunch at the bar. The place had a nice casual vibe to it. It felt like you were sitting outside becuse of the leafy greenery inside but it was even better and more pleasant because of the perfect temperature control. Every single person that served us was very professional. It was above and beyond of what we expected since we were seated at the bar. The food was very good. The pasta was cooked perfectly, just as good as Ask for Luigi. Overall a solid 5/5. I'm glad this place opened in Coquitlam as it needs more restaurants like this. Looking forward to going back to try their other dishes.

Managed to book a reso for day 2 of grand opening week and I'm happy that it was an overall great experience for my friend and I. The front desk team graciously seated us early without a problem and our server, Ashley, was an absolute joy to chat with and helped us have an amazing, fun experience at Gigi's. THANK YOU ASHLEY!!! Once she introduced us to her favorites on the menu, we were sold and made some changes to what we picked. My friend and I shared these menu items between us: Appy = Beef Tartare Pizza = Mortadella Pasta = Ragu Bianco Dessert = Olive Oil Cake + Tiramisu The beef tartare was more on the forgettable side compared to the rest of the the yummy food that came after. It was done well though with the subtle mustard seeds mixed in, was light on the appetite and was not icy. Our server recommended the tuna crudo for the fruity elements to contrast our meal, so I'd try that next time. Our server mentioned that the pizza style served here is "Canotto" style rather than Neopolitan, meaning the crust is going to be more inflated and pillowy. She shared my same liking of checking off all the boxes for all the flavors and textures on a food, so the mortadella pizza was an easy choice to swap to with its rosemary honey, crushed pistachios and mortadella on sauce bianco. The crust of the pizza also exceeded my expectations and it was like biting into soft fluffy bread that was also not heavy at all and easy to cut through. Everything sang on this pizza and was a nice precursor to the pasta dish. The Ragu Bianco really put a bow on the meal and the choice of pasta being campanelle was a smart choice on the chef's part to me. The flavor stood out and the ingredients all worked well with each other. The beef cheeks were wonderfully stewed and tender, and already incorporated into the dish. My friend thought the dish was a little salty (possibly from the pecorino), but we both thoroughly enjoyed it otherwise. The dessert is ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE by the way, so save room for dessert. Think hand sized cubes of Tiramisu, so there is plenty to go around if you're thinking about sharing with 1 other person or even a table of 4. The olive oil cake verged less on the olive oil side for me (which I would've liked) and leaned more into the orange syrup and candied oranges that decorated it. I thought the desserts were simple and classic, but well done without bells and whistles, because they didn't need it! I will have to come back for the burrata bar as they were sold out for the day. We were told that they fly in burrata from Italy every couple days, so that makes it all the more authentic and tempts me to try it. I really appreciated the open air feel of the high ceiling and I didn't feel cramped at all. The restaurant used the space well to have as many tables as possible and the use of overhead string lights made for a very cute and unique date night ambiance when the big top lights turned off.

funghi pizza and alla vodka pasta

Went here during their first few weeks of opening and the service was impeccable. I enjoyed the pizza (especially with it having funghi) as it was cheesy and the argula was a nice touch but the vodka pasta got cold super fast. One of the most gorgeous restaurants I've been to in the area.

checked out this michelin guide sister restaurant that recently opened in coquitlam - my OG hood as i grew up here. this will def be a staple whenever i come and visit my parents - coquitlam is starting to be cool if you've been to the nemesis in coquitlam, it's essentially right beside it. i love the black tiles and gold accents that is a complete contrast to the earthy tones (and my fav bright blue heart!) of nemesis service was great - easy check-in at reception and our server (who i did not get the name of) was super helpful. she recommended dishes and ensure that the wine i chose matched what we ordered. i had the limoncello spritz, which was perfect for the warm summer day. it was light, lemony, ice cold and fizzy! we were there for an early dinner so we managed to nab the aperitivo hour deal of 25% off a bottle of wine - we had the angelo pinot grigio and your girl loves her pinot grigios (we got a tester beforehand - i thought that was a very sweet gesture for me to try the wine before i commit to a full bottle) food wise - it was essentially carb overload because i came home and legit crashed for a 2hr nap for starters, we had the pistachio pesto burrata, the wagyu tartare and the calamari fritti. the fresh burrata def stole the show, and that pistachio pesto was to die for. you can't go wrong with wagyu - even my dad tried a little bit of it even tho he's not a big fan of raw beef. the calamari fritti wasn't as oily as some calamari can get - the other two starters were just too awesome that it overshadowed this dish. then the mains: frutti di mare, ragu blanco and the mortadella pizza. the frutti di mare was on point some may fit it too dry but my parents and i all felt that it was perfect - the uni butter coated the pasta perfectly and there's a little bit of kick that cuts the dish well. the ragu blanco - that beef cheek! both the pasta dishes had the PERFECT al dente pasta so the mortadella pizza is definitely something different (in a good way) - the rosemary honey added a bit of sweetness to count the savoury mortadella and the pistachio on the top adds crunch and nuttiness to the pizza. so...when do we go back

This is what a $25 pizza from there looks like. No veggies, no cheese, sauce? The crust was so soggy the deli meat slid off when picked up

I just want to preface this review by saying I lived in Italy and this is NOT authentic Italian food. We arrived at the restaurant with our reso at 7:15 and were not sat till 8pm. Yup that's right 8:00pm. The restaurant was not busy. No water offered, no nothing. It was my friends birthday celebration so we already had a bad taste in our mouths from that. We get to the table, our server was lovely despite everything else being horrible. My friends drink arrived it was bland and tasted purely of booze and artificial lemon. Yuck. Then came the food. We had olives for an appy which the manager actually dropped on the floor at our table. 20 mins later he brings us another full bowl ok great... but like? Then came what they called an authentic Italian pizza. I was honestly embarrassed for them that they put what they claimed was worth $25 in front of me. Dry, tasteless and cold. I've attached a photo of my "pizza". My friends got cacio e Pepe which they said was also tasteless bland and insanely priced at $35. My friend was given a cocktail for free from the manager after he touched the table and we told him the food and drinks were extremely underwhelming. To which he argued what authentic Italian food should look like... mind you this is a sister restaurant of a Michelin star. The cocktail was served in a cracked glass. The manager continued to make excuses table side and when we brought up experiences at competition restaurants (joeys, cactus, earls) he immediately was defensive and confrontational. He also tried to pin the reservation screw up on us. Bills came and we requested our friends food be taken care of. After all it's her birthday and so far the experience was horrible. No dice. To me - that's despicable and the least they could have done. Overall extremely negative experience we will definitely not be back. Very disappointed in the maturity level and attitude of the manager towards customers. Unprofessional and disrespectful.

    Entrance of Gigi's

My sister visited Gigi's during its opening week and felt there were still quite a few things to improve, so I decided to wait before trying it myself. Today, it was just my daughter and me for lunch. My daughter still prefers her favourite Italian spot, though I personally think that place has been declining in quality lately. For me, Gigi's feels like a quality restaurant. The main reason my daughter ranked the other restaurant higher is because she found Gigi's pasta "too firm." I'd describe it as properly al dente -- exactly how pasta should be cooked. She ordered Luigi's Bolognese, which had a touch of spice. I thought it was perfectly balanced, but she found it a little salty, something I honestly didn't notice. I had the Frutti di Mare. Everything was well-prepared and enjoyable. Was it the best pasta I've ever had? No. But it was solid, satisfying, and worth the price. We finished with their tiramisu, which came in a generous portion. The flavours of coffee and wine were bold -- a bit too strong for my taste, but still a good dessert overall. However, after I was seated, my server didn't return for about five minutes, just wondering why it took so long to show up. Conclusion: Gigi's is a very nice restaurant, best appreciated by adults. It's absolutely kid-friendly in atmosphere, but I feel the recipes lean more toward adult palates. Conclusion: Gigi's is a very nice restaurant, best appreciated by adults. Well... It's my first time reviewing a restaurant in a while. This one got me out of retirement! Haha joking... but yeah what an absolutely amazing experience we had at Gigi's from start to finish. First off the service was amazing, the decor was modern, bright and clean and most importantly the food was top tier. To start we ordered the Kale Caesar Salad, it had kale, focaccia crouton crumbs, parmigiano reggiano and an anchovy & caper dressing, the dressing was a very light and super fresh, if you're a kale lover you'll definitely enjoy this. For the mains we ordered a Luigi's Bolognese, it came out piping hot with al dente rigatoni noodles, beef, veal, pork, & fresh parmigiano reggiano, it was sooo tasty, i'd probably come back to Gigi's just for that honestly. We also got the Alla Vodka, it also came with perfectly cooked el dente sedani rigati noodles, vodka sauce, & fresh parmigiano reggiano, it had a super velvety smooth almost sweet sauce, very yummy. We couldn't leave without trying at least one of their pizza's so we ordered the classic Margherita Pizza... just to test the waters out and see how their pizza's were tasting, it absolutely DID NOT disappoint, it had a perfectly balanced pomodoro sauce, fior di latte & basil, I think you could possibly argue that it may be the best Marg Pizza in Coquitlam? I don't know for sure yet.. but I think you should come in and try one for yourself and then you can be the judge. For dessert we ordered a Classic Tiramisu, it was spectacular and friggin' huge, it came with whipped mascarpone, nemesis coffee, cocoa powder & grappa, it was so so so good. We also ordered the Olive Oil Cake it came with orange syrup and possibly real candied oranges on top of it? I'm not entirely sure what it was but it was fire nonetheless! So in conclusion I would say Gigi's by Ask For Luigi was a huge success. I hope it stays in the area for a while. We need more places like this in Coquitlam. Try your best to come out and support places like this. It's very good and they deserve to succeed. I'm not sure if this was a soft opening or if they're actually fully open but yeah I fully enjoyed my dining experience tonight. One pro tip i'd make to anyone thinking about trying Gigi's is to definitely book a reservation on Open Table because they are extremely busy. Peace out Yelpers, good to be back!

Was such a nice restaurant. The Italian vibe is immersive and the staff were so sweet. The food was delicious as well not large portions which is kind of nice.

Their menu had a good selection of brunch items with really reasonable prices. I ordered the smoked salmon Benny and was thrilled to see the hashbrowns were actually tots! When I say they were the star of the show, I'm not kidding. They were so perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and so soft inside and absolutely seasoned to perfection. There were also so many on my plate I couldn't finish the all. The Benny was just okay. Eggs were cooked well, English muffin was under toasted, and overall it was on the cold side. Hubby ordered the classic breakfast. It also came with the same perfect tots, his over easy egg was a bit over cooked and he wasn't a fan of the bacon. The focaccia on the other hand was delish. Soft and super flavourful. We had a 25% off coupon from the Community Values book which made this extra reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!

There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies.
