Beef carpaccio

We came here for an early dinner. Parking is quite difficult to find and that's a major detractor. I didn't risk using the nearby Save-on-Foods parking lot because there were many signs all around. The ambiance was very enjoyable with the decor and setting. It really did feel like a farmhouse that was located in the Fraser Valley. The service was fine and polite.

Really good pasta a bit under seasoned but better than too much. The atmosphere is soo nic, was very cosy, homely. The service was great and attentive!

I had been wanting to try this place for months and it was so delicious that I lowkey wish I'd tried it sooner. The food was beyond fresh and seemed just like farm to table. The brunch menu was so intriguing and they had shrimp scampi eggs benedict which I don't see at restaurants often. The outdoor patio seating truly had the best and coziest ambiance ever. The service was kind as well.

We ate lunch here and it was a great meal. I ordered some focaccia to start. It was served with olive oil, chilli oil and balsamic vinegar. I enjoyed the variety of dipping oils. I had pasta for my main course. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious and the side salad was good. The weekday pasta special was a generous portion for the price as well. Lastly, we shared a tiramisu and it tasted homemade and good as well. Service was great. Our server refilled water regularly. Food arrived fairly quickly. No complaints there. The restaurant feels quite homey with all the wood furniture and flooring. The restaurant was quiet too during the lunch rush. I enjoyed my time catching up with friends during this visit. Definitely, will revisit when I am in the area.

The farmhouse is a small restaurant that packs a punch. It has a warm and cozy vibe with high quality eats. The staff are calm and friendly and are very knowledgeable about the menu and offerings. I ordered the feature cut of the day and was presented with a beautiful medium rare steak with polenta, a, confit garlic purée and arugula salad. I had not tried polenta before so cannot compare it to others, but it was delicious and the steak was one of the best I have had. I find restaurants usually over serve portions, but this portion was just the right size allowing me to leave none for leftovers. The food tasted incredible fresh and had great presentation. My friend ordered the calamarata al pesto di pistacchi and had nothing but good things to say about it. I have already returned to this restaurant after this last experience and am sure it will become a local hotspot for me.

Not a great photo, sorry.

Such a great find! We were in the area, hit Yelp for a suggestion and headed over. We were greeted by the friendliest Hostess I've ever met and seated in the secret garden out back. Charming place, delightful team and a delicious pasta/salad combo (we both had the arrabiata. Bonus: my very affordable red came in a very tall, elegant wine glass

Opened in November 2022, this restaurant is a hidden gem tucked behind the Kingsgate Mall. Ambiance is bright with a rustic interior. Servers were very accommodating. We ordered the following large plates: *HOKKAIDO SEA SCALLOP RISOTTO (5/5) love the added texture of crispy rice pops *STEELHEAD TROUT (4/5) goes very well with fregola pasta *FARMHOUSE HALF ROASTED CHICKEN (5/5) old fashioned roast chicken can be a simple and unassuming dish but Farmhouse's is done so tender and juicy. It's perfectly served with its jus and potato salad. I would say it's the star of the night! We also had sides of HOUSE BREAD, WARM OLIVES, CAULIFLOWER AND BARLEY CARBONARA, ROASTED ARTICHOKE HEARTS. Every dish was surprisingly delicious. Will be back for sure.

Been on my list for awhile and was glad we made it out to try it. For Sunday brunch, it wasn't very busy. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It feels warm, bright, and homey. They have plenty of seating and even a patio out back. The brunch menu isn't extensive, but it has some unique dishes. Roast porchetta benedict- this was a really large piece of porchetta. We all enjoyed it. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The roasted potatoes were crisp and seasoned. N'duja and fennel sausage hash- Again, the eggs were cooked perfectly and everything paired well together. The hollandaise added a richness. Baked polenta- this was just okay. It seemed to be too much polenta vs the toppings. House focaccia- wish it was served with some balsamic or a dip. It also could have used a bit more salt on the outside. Otherwise it paired well with hash. Overall, brunch was pretty good and I liked that everything was served with a salad. I definitely want to come back for $18 pastas on Wednesday.

The Farmhouse is a cozy and rustic restaurant featuring classic Italian cuisine. It's tucked within the Mt. Pleasant neighbourhood and the mastermind behind this warm abode-like restaurant is none other than Curtis Luk, contestant of TopChef Canada! I was very excited to try the food as one of my party members had previously gone and expressed how good the food was. Everything was enjoyed family style as that's what most Asian people like to do! Besides, who wouldn't want a taste of everything on the table haha. Appetizers: Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio - $26 The portion size was good. It's not the best carpaccio I've ever had but it does satisfy adequately. I found the flavours mild but that may be because of how delicious and flavourful the other appetizers were. Burrata - $19 So delicious!! It's a simple melange of ingredients but I found the combination of the kale sauce and the sweet apple and onion very pleasing to the palate. For reference, the smaller size burrata divided among 4 people allowed approximately one bite per person. If you love burrata, you may want to order the larger size. Cauliflower Barley Carbonara - $13 I had no idea cauliflower and carbonara could be such a delicious combination. It was incredibly flavourful and the texture of cauliflower and barley complemented each other very well. The bits of pancetta were a treat as well. Mains: Farmhouse Feature Cut - $52 The cut for that day was the tenderloin steak and it was cooked to medium-rare perfection and well seasoned. The majority of us thought the polenta wasn't our thing but the bf's mom enjoyed it! For $52, it is on the heftier price side but do know that it is incredibly well-cooked and delicious. Tagliatelle al Ragu - $29 Yummy! The pasta was cooked well and the duck ragu was well seasoned and delicious. I like how the pasta was super al dente. Sea Scallop Risotto - $42 This one was definitely my favourite. The scallops were seared to PERFECTION. I liked that the risotto wasn't too heavy or salty as it allowed plenty of room to savour and taste the scallops. Dessert: Tiramisu - $11 I liked the creaminess of the marscapone, as mentioned in another review, would love for there to be more espresso to help balance out a flavours a bit more. Panna Cotta - $10 The rest of my party enjoyed this one a lot (I was too busy devouring the tiramisu because I am a tiramisu person LOL), it's light and pleasing to the palate. A perfect end to a flavour town trip to Italian cuisine. We booked the restaurant through FirstTable and received 50% at the end of our meal which I highly recommend if you're looking for a great deal and don't mind dining early. (Be sure to tip on the total bill before discount!) Service was good (especially kitchen service!!), our server seemed more on the cool side but otherwise, mise en place and table attentiveness were perfect. The decor of the restaurant is also very well thought out, everything seems to go together to create a warm and comfortable environment. Overall, I would definitely return to Farmhouse to try out their other dishes!

Risotto and tagliatelle ragu and cauliflower carbonara

A little rustic charmer by Kingsgate Mall serving Italian style with some twist. Service was excellent and attentive. Nice alcohol and non-alcohol drink list and their syrups are house made. My favourites dishes are the Burrata and house bread (so good & the cheese is from Italy), Polpette (meatballs), Tonno E Cipolla (tuna), Sea Scallop Risotto and Tiramisu. Was not a big fan of the Cauliflower Carbonara (didn't like the texture and lacked flavour) and Tagliatelle Al Ragu (pasta not al dentel and was dryer with little sauce. Understand it might be the style but didn't do it for me). Would love to come back to try another pasta dish and other dishes. Even though 2 dishes didn't stand out for me, I think this little place is quaint and service/staff were fantastic.

Went for a nice lunch to celebrate my birthday since we took the day off. I love how intimate and rustic the restaurant felt. There are beautiful murals on the opposite building so I would highly recommend sitting by the windows. Our favourite is the roasted carrot salad. The colours were vibrant and appetizing. The carrots were crunchy and flavourful. A very well executed dish! The tagliatelle al ragu has duck ragu, cured egg yolk, and chicken liver mousse. The mousse is put on the side so you can add as much or as little as you want. We, being big lovers of chicken liver, added it all in and had no regrets.

Cute little restaurant tucked away just off Kingsway and Broadway. It was really warm inside as there's no air conditioning. The food was good, with distinct and balanced flavours. Dessert wasn't overly sweet, Service was standard. Overall, a well-rounded restaurant but not a must-go.

roasted artichoke hearts: brown butter, charred onion, pine nuts, mint

We came here for dinner to find a very quaint and cozy atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and fun to converse with! For food, we started with the polpette (beef and pork meatballs) and the tomato tonnat. Incredible. Meatballs were tender and I was really surprised at how flavourful the tomato tonnat was. For mains we had the duck ragu and hokkaido sea scallop risotto, also with a side of cauliflower and barley carbonara, as well as roasted artichoke hearts. I would recommend all the dishes we got, but the cauliflower carbonara was, unexpectedly, by far my favourite. Can't wait to go back to try the roasted chicken next time!

We sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with Taku and watching him prepare drinks. They have an impressive cocktail list. The bar stools didn't have a backrest so it was a bit uncomfortable after awhile, I would've preferred sitting at a table. We started off with the June brioche and it was pillowy soft. Foie gras was their feature of the evening and although it was delicious, we were told it was cooked, but it was prepared as a cold dish. The crispy eggplant with tomato base was tasty. The mussels were incredibly fresh, topped with petite frites. Pasta for Rachel is named after the chef's wife and it was rich and addicting with potato filling. The only dish I didn't care for was the Fraser Valley chicken as it was a bit dry. I normally don't care for chocolate mousse but really enjoyed this one. They even added a candle for my birthday and gave me a mini ice cream cone.

I loved the scallops. They were perfectly cooked. The sauce that it came with was so delicious that I literally drank it all up. It would have been perfect if they made a soup version of it. The Hamachi Crudo was also delicious. It was very fresh and tasty. The Frog Legs were surprisingly really good. They were deep fried and tossed in what I would consider to be a sweet chili sauce. The Beef Tartare and the Striploin didn't have much flavor. We upgraded the fries that came with the Striploin to truffle fries for $20. The additional $20 was a bit ridiculous, but it was nice to try. They had tons of truffle in the dip. The Trout Rilette surprised me by how good it was. It was packed with flavor and was slightly smoky. I enjoyed the Crispy Eggplant, although it was on the smaller side. It got soggy quickly, so I recommend eating it quickly. The Brussel Sprout Salade was served slightly warm. I liked the slight acidity of the dish. The Mussels were unique. The petite fries were slightly spicy. The sauce was good but could have used a touch more flavor. The Pasta for Rachel was disappointing. It didn't have much flavor. However, we really liked the Butternut squash and truffle ravioli. It was slightly sweet. I would have much preferred a double portion of this, instead of getting the Pasta for Rachel. The customer service was really great. The staff checked up on us and took the time to explain their menu. I found the restaurant to be a bit too dark for my preferences, but it was still acceptable. 4.5 stars

Service was exceptional. Both the maître d' and our server were friendly and helpful. We opted to order from the regular and seasonal à la carte menus for dinner: - Brezeln - The pretzel buns were soft and warm and we could not resist putting a big glob of the honey cultured butter on every bite. - Octopus - The tentacles were tender and springy at the same time. The slight heat from the sauce was perfect in cutting through the richness of the meat. - Chicken fried maitake - The coating was very flavourful but we found the the seasoning a bit too heavy. - Scallops - They were fresh and sinfully delicious with the sauce. - Sunchoke Dumplings - A dish with simple ingredients but it was easily the most flavour rich and balanced dish of the evening. - Hunters Chicken - I like that both dark and white meats were served on the dish. Although I generally stay away from white poultry meat but all the pieces were tender and juicy. The seasoning was a bit on the saltier side for us though. - Hay - The custard dish was interesting and we were told it's been the most popular dessert offering since the restaurant doors opened.
