Went on a slow Sunday evening. Waited a good 10 minutes before a server came by-no big deal as we…read morewere likely saving money not being on the casino floor! The server was pleasant. Ordered one order of Ebi Prawn platter and one order of the Southwest Salad (that includes chicken). The server took our order and asked if we wanted Chicken or Prawns. I said chicken. The food arrived a short while later but with a double order of chicken. My wife was about to comment and I told her it wasn't a big deal, so she backed off. The Ebi prawns tasted yummy but the salad was absolutely gross. We took no more than 2 bites and told the server when he came to check in how everything was, that it tasted off. He said "I'll let the kitchen know". He didn't ask if we wanted anything else and to be honest, nor did we suggest an alternate as we were completely put off. Now here's the clencher.....when we got the bill, not only did he charge us the full amount, we paid for double the chicken! Feeling uncomfortable asking for a lounge manager, we simply paid and left. In hindsight I wish I hadn't left a decent tip. The server, although pleasant needs more training on the lounge menu (I've seen him work in the adjacent Noodle Bar area) and needs help in how to handle problem situations or at the very least call the manager. Aside from drinks, that'll be the last time we ever go there!

Well, Schank's is like that but with sports playing on those TVs and less the old man. Feel like being a cheapskate on [ insert sport ] night? Follow the below steps: 1. Go to Schank's; 2. Repeat the above steps 3 more times until the game is over. If you're disciplined, you'll have paid $13-15 bucks to eat AND watch a pay-per-view event. Most recently, hubby and I went with a group of friends and coworkers to the tavern for dinner. I will admit the parking lot isn't great and on the smaller side. We managed to see someone leaving and grabbed their spot. Some of our friends had to park quite a bit further away and walk over. It was also a hotter/more humid summer day and we ended up sitting on the patio. Unfortunately it felt more like an enclosed patio and by the end of the night it was quite the contrast to the icy cold air conditioned tavern interior. The servers tried their best to keep us hydrated with pitchers of water... but this may be the rare time I say skip the patio in the summer. Now to focus on the more positive aspects. I had the Tavern Cheeseburger and my husband ultimately decided on the Philly Cheesesteak. My cheeseburger was a solid standard. Nice patty, melted cheese and didn't skimp on the tomatoes, lettuce, etc. The Philly Cheeseteak was a huge portion that hubby barely finished and it looked cheesy/oozy good (and it was, or at least the small bite I took. Service was good, food was solid. I liked the ambiance of a more "up-scale" neighbourhood pub. Just make sure you consider sitting inside (in the AC) on a hot summer's day.

Nicely appointed, the venue is quickly becoming a go-to spot for locals. The ambiance is clean and fresh, well lit, a mix of high tops, and four tops with a few booths/banquettes. The staff is eager to be helpful. The management is friendly and approachable. We wish them well in settling in.

Pizzas were 1/2 price with purchase of a drink -- great deal. Prices for happy hour house lager were reasonable ($6), and they give you a full pint (20oz) -- a rarity these days it seems. Ordered a pizza -- it came out hot and loaded with cheese and toppings. Great tasting tomato sauce, too. If the pizza was just a bit larger, it would've been perfect. The servers were all friendly and efficient, and the pub was packed the entire time we were there from 4-9pm. Loved the old-school decor and ambiance, lots of stained dark wood and nautical themes. It just felt like a cozy, well-lived and worn local neighborhood pub, as one should be. Would I return again? Yes, for the happy hour and pizza deals if passing through New West on a Saturday. Seemed like a well-run spot, and hope it continues to succeed.

Hard to describe. There wasn't a layer of stuff between beef and pastry, and the beef ball wasn't as rare as expected. It was tasty though. Vegetables and mashed potatoes were also good. Cast iron cookie a la mode - baked chocolate chip cookie in a mini skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Who doesn't like either items. Good value. My friends and I left happy.
