"My meal was perfect" - My boyfriend AND there's a CHECK IN PERK of Free Fries (that were GREAT!) We came here last night after my boyfriend had talked endlessly about wanting to try this place out and lucky for him, I had an errand to run nearby. The place is very cozy with plaid pillows, taxidermy deer and birds, very cute napkins and simply the whole vibe! They have quite an extensive drinks list (I mean they ARE called Whiskey Six) so you better believe they have a good selection of Scotch, Rye and Bourbon. The cocktails caught my eye. Mine was delicious - I got the Electric Currant so ladies (or gents) who aren't into too boozy tasting beverages.. This one was AMAZING. My boyfriend got the West Coast Old Fashioned and it was great. Near the end of our night we ordered a Three Kingdom's Hefeweizen which was smooth and drinkable. Nice to see their huge selection of local craft beers, too! While we waited for our drinks, I checked in and was pleasantly surprised that there was a check in perk of free fries which was perfect. I got the pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend got the beef brisket. We wanted a side so the fries were a perk! We also decided then to get the smoked chicken wings. The Smoked Chicken Wings were SO tender and such a unique way of cooking. They were piping hot and with the Whiskey House Hot Sauce and Whiskey BBQ Sauce they were phenomenal. I really really liked that Whiskey BBQ Sauce. So good for dipping anything and the hot sauce was also tasty! I liked my boyfriends Beef Brisket sandwich a bit more (and he said brisket is super hard to make on your own so there's food for thought for you when you're deciding on what to order) so I really recommend that! The pulled pork was good but I don't know if it stood out more than any other pulled pork sandwich I got but it was still tasty. Next time, I think we will buckle up and actually order a stand alone portion of MEAT! We'll be doing the brisket.

I am so glad to have found this place. It's a cozy little place on Renfrew street across from a highschool. I grew in this neighbourhood so I felt right at home coming here. It's relatively new. Approximately two years. I originally came here to try their Dine-Out 2019 menu but opted to order off the regular menu instead. I called ahead to reserve and when we walked in our table was ready with cold water already poured into the glasses. Once we placed the order, the food arrived in a timely manner. The pulled pork was juicy and tender. The Brisket was melt in your mouth Heaven. Portions were a tad small for what you pay, so I would consider this place a once-in-a-while treat. Definitely not a place to fill up my hungry teens!! Service was top notch. Clean. Friendly. I will definitely go again.

Nice little BBQ place in the middle of nowhere. Parking is available right along Renfrew. The spot is quite cozy and has a hunting lodge theme, with all the wood trim and the stuffed wildlife against the wall. Staff were friendly and professional. Food is decent but boy is it expensive. My buddy and I cleaned out their H44 platter (serves 4, $90) with room to spare. That includes eating all the bread too. Also, why would a platter for 4 only have 2 pieces of chicken? For this price, I'm sorry, I can think of several other BBQ options in town. Hence the 3 stars instead of 4. For this reason I also have trouble justifying a return visit. Wallet simply hurts too much. Food quality is decent, though I wish they gave us something other than sandwich bread for the bread.

The half rack of ribs with cole slaw and a "southern biscuit"." Nasty.

Easily the worst BBQ I've ever had. This is Vancouver, the bar for what qualifies as good BBQ is extraordinarily low, which is why Memphis Blues has been able to operate for years in this city. After trying Dixie's, which is the closest I've had to real USA-quality BBQ in Canada, I wanted to try this place. It's a real East Van joint, with a cool atmosphere, an impressive local beer selection and Portland-esque decor. The good vibes ended there. I ordered the half rack of ribs, my buddy ordered the brisket. The food took absolutely forever, which was odd since there was only one other table. The ribs tasted like nothing but sugar. It reminded me of the ones at Montana's, which is a very bad sign. My buddy's brisket wasn't any better. SMALL portions (although I don't know why you'd want large portions of crappy food), the biscuit side was ok if you slathered enough butter on it, the cole slaw was the highlight, which isn't a good sign for a BBQ place. It was also overpriced as hell. A good decor can only take you so far.....AVOID at all costs.

Had high hopes for this place but was utterly disappointed. I got the beef brisket platter and my gf got the pulled pork platter. Her biscuit was under baked and doughy on the inside and her Mac and cheese was lacking cheese so it tasted like boiled macaroni. My beef brisket was decent as it was very tender. They gave us 4 sauce containers which contained literally 1/4 a pump in each and was gone literally after 3 dips. Perhaps it's better to just dine in? Covid times?

Ill start with the positive ,the bar dude makes excellent drinks & was a great server. I ordered the ribs with coleslaw & baked beans. My spouse the brisket ,coleslaw & buttermilk biscuit . The ribs were tender fall off the bone. Yet no sauce on them .When I asked for sauce ,was charged .50 for a horrible tasting ,little dish of what basically tasted like molasses . The beans had no favour (bland) the coleslaw was horrible in fact it was just a strong vinegar mixed with some cream? Neither of us ate it . The brisket was tasty .Wouldn't rush back

Went here the other night for dinner because a acquaintance told us they had a good experience.Well we were not disappointed,I had the pulled pork which was pretty good could have used some kinda sauce, wife had the beef brisket & it was awesome, just melted in your mouth have to say best I've had so far.For our sides we had Mac & cheese, homemade biscuits, baked beans, coleslaw all homemade.Everything is local, including the craft beer, prices very reasonable. Our waiter Mark took the time to chat with us for a bit overall a great experience. Will be making return visit.

We just got home from our night at Whiskey Six and I could barely wait to write this place a rave review! I made a reservation for 14 people, and Marc was very accommodating and great to communicate with. When we first arrived, we were a little disappointed to see that only one person was working. I learned shortly that the server had called in 3 mins before his shift was to start, so Marc had to pick up the slack. He did an absolutely fabulous job!!! He made our drinks, served them quickly, we never ran out of water, and he really took great care of our table. Not only did he serve our table, he also had other tables to serve as well! Service aside, the food was very good, and everyone at our table was happy with their meals. The atmosphere is to die for. Adorable, intimate, trendy, and warm. Not to mention a great location. Highly recommend this place, and we really look forward to returning. Marc is a ROCKSTAR.

I really like this new neighbourhood place. Brunch, dinner and drinks and they understands the gluten intolerance problem, offering gluten free items. Not just salads, like so many other places, but delicious creative meals that satisfy and make you want to return. This is a quality owner operated business. The pulled pork is yummy, the eggs bennies are made on Gfree corn bread, the cocktails are good and they offer local beer. The front window opens up for fresh air and the space inside is sweet and simple. Also, the music is kept at a nice background level, not ear numbingly loud. I have a hard enough time hearing people so I appreciate that. I really dig this Hastings Sunrise joint and wish them the best success.

    Yummy!!

We came in a little before 8 and there was no one there. I had to double check with the staff to make sure they were open. Lucky for us though since no one else was there we were able to get a table for a group of 9 right away. Our server Becca was awesome. She looked after us and made sure our drinks were always filled. We decided to get the punch bowl to share. I'm just going to say that we ended up ordering 3 of these bowls and I woke up the next morning with a Top 5 hangover. These tasted like juice and I just remember my glass never being empty. I also remember having a taste of their mojito, which was delicious. As the night went on the place began to fill up and by the time we left it was packed. A musician came in at some point in the evening and performed some island tunes, which added to the fun island tiki vibe. Overall, the Tiki Bar was a ton of fun and it was a Saturday well spent. I'm so happy that we could be part of their opening night. I'd love to come back to try some of their different cocktails soon.

Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

Awesome new cocktail/snack bar. Great food, great cocktails, great vibes…read more The cocktails we tried: - Suika - my favorite, with some savoury notes - papurika - tart and has a kick, reminiscent of a spicy marg - Sage - Mugicha The food we tried: - scallop crudo - deliciously seasoned - wagyu tartare - tasty and well seasoned - prawn toast - really good and caught me by surprise. The bread was softer and fluffier than I expected and the prawn seemed to be mixed into the batter - hen of the woods - great mushroom dish with a good amount of substance and a rich sauce with guanciale flavours coming through Service was attentive and friendly. My only minor critique is that it felt a little rushed, as they brought up a few times that we had the table for 90 minutes total. I wonder if it will get a bit more relaxed over time, as this would be a great place to linger over a few more rounds of drinks. Overall great new spot which I am looking forward to returning to!

Man, for a Sunday night this place was packed, a reservation here is a must!…read more They have some really delicious and unique tasting cocktails. I like how the menu organizes them from light to strong. Items are on the pricier end but tapas are meant for sharing so it's probably best go with a group and try out a few items. I liked their croquettes the most but the sliders were actually delicious too and surpassed my expectations! I think their shrimp toast is pretty famous as well but I found it a bit dry.

Low lighting, a hum of conversation, and a crowd that clearly shows off the bars popularity. We ordered a few of their cocktails including the Night of a Thousand Eyes, their take on an espresso martini, which had a rich coffee and caramel kick without going overly sweet. Other favorites included the antidote, and the pineapple daiquiri, which was bright and refreshing. Each drink had a distinct personality and were delicious and well balanced in their own ways. We also tried some dim sum, which honestly could've been an afterthought but wasn't. The shrimp spring rolls stood out the most. Crisp on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside, and not greasy. They paired really well with the drinks and felt like more than just bar snacks. Service kept things moving and the energy stayed high throughout. It's easy to see why they've been a highly celebrated bar for several years!

Prescriptions is really fun. They have seasonal cocktails that they make, and then they have alumni cocktails that were great hits. They also have a great happy hour that's 50% off their dim sum and snack items which is such a deal for what you get! I got the mushroom truffle hargow and the barbeque pork steamed buns and they're both delicious and came with this yummy sauce on the side. I tried heart of stone, which is a cocktail. I'm going to fantasize about for a long time and then I also tried Tokyo drift, which was a really cool riff on an old-fashioned. The bartender was also an absolute delight! She was super knowledgable and great at walking me through the menu and leading me towards a cocktail that I would enjoy, always there when you needed her. I will come back to this place every time I come back to Vancouver.
