So this place is difficult for me to judge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a neopolitan pizza place, but really meant for casual take out. They do have a bit of dine in, with a few tables and some people eating, but its such a small place that it really seems like a take-out joint[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. But, for neopolitan pizza in this town, this not the the level or quality of the nicer sit-down places that specialize in it. They also serve some exotic non-traditional pizzas. Notably their pizza is not "Vera Pizza Napoletana" like some others are, and it shows. The dough is ok, the crust has a nice char, but between my 2 pizzas, the cook on the dough is inconsistent. I ordered the Sopressata, which ended up really greasy but nicely cooked dough. I also ordered Captain's Favourite which sadly seemed undercooked, and soggy dough in the middle. Toppings were all fine, but the ratios of toppings to dough is off. So if you compare this place to authentic neopolitan pizza places, this place does not hold a candle to them. Even further from neopolitian pizza in Italy. But it is definitely a step above your fast food pizza chains, which is not saying much. However, their prices are high. For casual pizza, i would give them 4/5 in quality. For neopolitan pizza, 3/5. But considering their higher prices and overall value, its 3/5 for what you get. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is clean enough, but parking is difficult depending on time of day (street parking restrictions).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also find it interesting that many Americans have reviewed this place. Maybe its their proximity to the convention centre or the other nearby tourist attractions. Its counter service, and the lady was nice and friendly. Not much else to comment on in terms of service. Unless you live really close by, I do not see much of a reason to recommend this place for pizza. If you want casual pizza, there are many cheaper options at similar quality. If you want good neopolitan pizza, there are many far better places at similar or slightly higher prices. read more

In need of a late lunch after arriving in Vancouver, my husband and I wandered over to Captain's Oven Pizza. Figuring we wouldn't be eating much pizza on our upcoming cruise, we were delighted by the wide variety of toppings we could select. We ended up sharing two small pizzas - a Captain's Favourite (pepperoni, green pepper, red onion, mushrooms, and tomato sauce) and a more adventurous choice for us... the Smoked Salmon (smoked salmon, capers, red onion, dill, and alfredo sauce). I was a big fan of both, despite how foreign it was to me to have fish on a pizza. Their menu has sections for Meat, Vegetarian, Pizzas Around the World, and Create Your Own (options include gluten free crust and vegan cheese). Aside from pizza they also serve dessert, salads, and a variety of apps and beverages. We ate in their small dining area at the front of the restaurant, though I imagine a lot of people typically carry out. It was quite comfortable, with a great deal of light from outside. There were even a couple tables set up outside with the warmer weather having arrived. The pizza was ready very quickly as their oven (exported from Tuscany) cooks at a very high temperature. Bro! I chose this place for the reviews and they weren't joking...the pizza is so dang good! I called in from the beach and asked if they could deliver there. They assured me they could. Not only did they make it to the right vicinity, the delivery guy insisted on walking the pizzas down to our group's gathering spot down on the sand near the water, which was a long walk for him. (Sure, he was likely motivated by the prospect of a good tip, but he was genuinely happy and energetic, which I love!) Most importantly, the pizza was fantastic. I ordered a large The Works over the phone to be picked up and they were super-friendly. Great customer service! We also loved the pizza! The ingredients were fresh, the cheese was real and the crust was oven-baked, which tasted delicious! You could taste every single topping on the pizza...which means what?....it was fresh and carefully put together. I usually don't have more than 2 slices max, but this was so tasty that I had 3. Another thing I loved about this place was the price. It's very reasonable considering what you're getting. While in Vancouver, I've tried other pizza places that you pay more but the quality was not even close. Ahhhhhmazing veggie selection! I've had the vegan pepperoni with Fiore de latte several times, the potato pizza, as well as the cheese lovers. All very good. He offered to send me a replacement pie (and encouraged me to get literally whatever). I got the medium alfredo potato with no goat cheese and a garlic dip. They even delivered it and would not accept a tip. Crust was nice and light. A lot of chew which is excellent. The pizza itself was very nice, not too heavy. The caramelized onions made this pizza. We also had the chocolate calzone , chocolate pizza , and brownies. Chocolate pizza was pretty boring, but the calzone was good and brownies were alright. It was pretty disappointing when you order over $120 of food from a pizza place and then they charge you $3 for tiny side of red peppers and parmesan , and then charge you for paper plates. First time I've ever encountered a pizza place charging for paper plates. Gave me 5 and then charged me for the other 6 I needed. Not a huge amount, just enough to be annoying. DELICIOUS! I was visiting from out of town and wanted pizza after a long travel day. this place was around the corner from my hotel and I was not looking to walk far, as the night was raw and rainy. I got the pepperoni pizza and it was excellent. The crust was a balanced blend of chewy but not rubbery. I was staying in this part of Vancouver, and saw that there was a brick oven pizza place within walking distance. As I walked by, I saw that there was no huge line, and that they offered a nice variety of woodfired pizzas. I will say they probably take to-go orders for the majority of their orders, but there are a few tables if you would like to eat there. (As opposed in my case to to taking a cooling pizza back to me hotel room.) There is no alcohol available here, so as I ate my pizza and Caesar salad in the storefront , I enjoyed San Pellegrino water. I'm only grading down one star for little available seating in the restaurant, but this was absolutely an excellent choice if you are in this area of the Harbour of Vancouver. read more
