My daughter and I were wandering around downtown with a friend, trying to decide on a place for dinner. We ended up at Pizza Garden and all agreed to share a large Margherita pizza. I'd heard rave reviews about Pizza Garden from more than one friend of ours so I had high hopes for this place. The pizza had a wonderfully crispy crust and was more than just decent. It was an awesome pizza. Perhaps I set my expectations a bit too high though, because as good as it was, I don't think it was as mind blowingly good as people had made it out to be. Still an excellent choice for pizza downtown though, and I'd still highly recommend this place! Service: Good Parking: Paid parking Location: 675 Smithe St., Vancouver

Hair was not a topping I ordered!

This pizza was actually quite terrible. We usually order from our favourite pizza place but they were closed Christmas day, so we thought we'd try this place. To start, there was hair on the pizza....not a topping I ordered. (see pic) Another thing I noticed was that their dough was most likely not fresh and frozen. How could I tell? Well....the dough was incredibly soft. When frozen dough is thawed...the locked moisture from the freezing is released within the dough during cooking and therefore renders it soggy. So....there's that. Also, another decorative piece on the pizza was the leftover charcoal soot from whatever source it fell from onto the pizza (see pic).....not good. Mostly, I think with this place and our experience were issues of hygiene, which it seemed were completely disregarded and ignored. Yeah, I don't think I would eat their pizza even for free just because I'm not sure about their hygiene and health measures practiced.

As a VSO subscriber over the years, Pizza Garden has been my cafeteria over the years. Intermission is 20 minutes, if you can time it right. It is doable to duck out for 2 slices and a soda. I've always appreciate their stream line of payment and sauce counter. This location is meticulous with stocking napkins and sanitisers on every other booth. On to the crust, Pizza Garden serves Neapolitan Style Pizzas, and I do appreciate their crust. I would consider their combo a light meal.

We ordered a few pizzas for delivery for an office lunch and they were all delicious! I like that you can get half and half pizzas so you can try more flavours. We had the Pollo Excellente, Ruchetta, 4 Cheese, Supremo and Potato Gorgonzola. The crust is very thin and light.

Absolutely delicious Pollo Exccellente pizza! Fresh as ever and seasoned to perfection. Friendliest delivery drivers as well. Thank you Pizza Garden Smithe Street!

We stayed in Downtown Vancouver at the Moda Hotel which is 1 block to Pizza Garden. After a full day of hiking through Vancouver, we went to Pizza Garden at 10:15 for a late pizza party. The pizza was hot, crispy and flavorful. We tried the garlic Ali and it added a nice zing to the pizza. Thanks PGS!

The reason we went back those other two times was because we were impressed by the food the first time. Unfortunately, that was the only time that we were impressed though. The second time after 20 minutes we went back only to find out that the pizza maker and the cashier gossiping, and our pizza was not even made yet. When finally, she made the pizza and got it out of the oven, she flipped it upside down in the box resulting in a mush instead of pizza. We still went back for the third time. This time she was on the phone and resolving a matter and on the computer. I asked the cashier if she was going to make the pizza, and she confirmed. I just hoped she washed her hand and lo and behold, she did not! The pizza was also carelessly done, but I guess if you are coming from Granville after a couple of beer glasses, you just don't care.

Ok, so unlike us, we ordered delivery from the unknown while spending the Valentines night at our hotel awaiting our Thursday Buildex day. Having been on our feet all day we didn't think we were getting an "A" reservation so why not watch the 'Nucks rock the Panthers (or not) and order in. Last year we were here and couldn't get delivery. Luckily this year was different from the "Garden", and boy were we happy it was. It's tough to get drop off in the downtown core because of all the full service options presented. Our pizza arrived within the time outlined in spite of the front desk check in, and thank you Pinnacle for checking out the move in, and out The pizza included real kalamata's as advertised, was delivered on time and hot! Not something you're typically seeing, a good sized hearing about on pizza but oh my was that a delicious offering. So to be far from brief, if you're looking for a delivery in the downtown core you cannot go wrong with the "Garden"

Stopped here for the 1st time and I was impressed. Ordered one slice and it was $3.50 with tax. Very, very good. Awesome crust. They take your slice and put it in the oven to heat up with the pizzas that they're making for everybody else who are taking full ones away. The flavour was fantastic but if you're really, really hungry I wouldn't recommend getting 1 of these. It's all about the flavour not about the mass. I'm sure I'll be back. Cool staff with really swift service.

Finally, another option to Megabite or Numero Uno. Parking here sucks. 'Nuff said. Slices here are $2.50 at night, which unfortunately is the going rate these days. The slice I had probably would've tasted decent if they didn't burn it. Sigh.

    Pesto pizza
    Denise W.

Firm ordered lots of pizza for everyone. So had the pesto pizza and the Hawaiian pizza. The crust is a bit thin (its so thin, you can fold it up) and well I do like it that way. But again you can taste the burnt taste. Yes as you can see from my pictures my pizza is a bit burnt. Its not just the two slices I got are like that. Its every pizza (we ordered at least 25 large pizza and everyone is like that. Maybe they made it too quick. We got it delivered and its a bit cold. I mean you can heat it up in the microwave and its still fine. The pizza are big and I really mean bigger then its competitor. In terms of toppings, its ok. Not like its really loaded. Its a bit missing on the cheese. When I get pizza, I expect lots of cheese. Guess my firm will order from here every Thursday until April 30 LOL. (must be my colleague Fav place)

Half is Pollo Pesto and the other half is Pizza Magic.

Best take out delivery pizza I have ever had! Real thin crust Neapolitan style pizza that is cooked to perfection with some great real ingredients. Pizza perfect!

Food: 4.0 of 5.0 Service 4.0 of 5.0 Environment: 3.0 of 5.0 This is muuuuuchhhh better late night pizza. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Wish we would have found this place instead of Romanos Pizza that's much cheaper and way worse. The pizza here is stone fired, better sauce, and taste considerably more fresh!

We discovered AJ's while trying to find deep dish or Detroit pizza in Vancouver and all I want to…read moresay is that it is one of the best Detroit pizzas I have had, ever. It checks all of the boxes: thick, chewy, crispy, cheesy, saucy. One of my favorite pizzas is Detroit style pizza, which I actually discovered in Los Angeles, where I tried at no less than five different places. Most were really good, but AJ's Detroit pizza humbled all of the ones that are still there. I could have eaten half of it by myself. (The leftovers re-heated great and were just as satisfying the next day.) Note that AJ's regular pizza is great as well, but don't pass up the opportunity to enjoy their Detroit style.

When the pizza comes straight out of that oven, piping hot and bubbly, it's an absolute revelation. Especially that Detroit style with the frico. Oh, man, is it ever good, and enough that you can cut the abrupt and often rude service some slack. Delivery from AJ's, by contrast, is one of the biggest mistakes you will ever make, as it's often painfully slow (like 90 min-2 hr slow). So, by the time your order arrives, and assuming you received the right order, it's often a lukewarm, rock hard and/or greasy mess and unrecognizable compared to what you can get dining in. For the price, you might as well light the money on fire. I haven't been back in a while because I've made it a rule not to order from here unless I have the time to physically go and eat it there. It is worth it to pay the premium for the product if you're going to consume it within a few minutes of it coming out of the oven. Otherwise, take a pass.

I didn't have very high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the pizzas here. They offer a variety of veggie and meat pizzas that can be made with regular crust or deep dish style. We ordered a small deep dish margharita ($19.99) and a medium deep dish butter chicken ($23.99) pizza. Both weren't true deep dish pizzas, but the crust was nice and thick. I'd recommend the pizzas here to anyone who likes a breadier crust. My only minor complaint is that the pizzas didn't have enough sauce to complement the thick crust. The pizzas kept well for leftovers too. They tasted just as good the next day heated up in our toaster oven.
