Overall: A // 5 stars Dimly lit candlelight vibes perfect for a romantic date night. The farm to table style cuisine brings out the brightest in vegetables and the healthful cooking is one that can be enjoyed in abundance. The staff are knowledgable and attentive, and the menu is loaded with captivating options. Highly recommend this Michelin bib gourmand restaurant. (Cucumber Melon Salad: A) - Marinated melon is such a smart way for flavor development. The usage of quinoa as a crunch rather than a grain also makes quinoa quite enjoyable in this case! I think the large slices of cucumber become water bombs rather than flavor bombs, which is unideal. (Patatas Bravas: B) - Intriguing dish of triple cooked crisp potatoes thats tender on the inside with a trio of aiolis. The dish would benefit from smaller potato wedges to absorb the flavor better, but otherwise the aiolis really helped give a depth of creamy, herbacious, and spicy flavor combo. (Duck Breast: A) - Tender duck breast paired with a beautiful red fruit jam that helped add an acidic sweetness. This protein was quite nailed, but a crispier skin would take it to the next level. Food: +1 Presentation: +1 Price: E Atmosphere: +1 Service: +1 Menu: +1 Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

I found Fable Kitchen on the Michelin Guide and was able to make a reservation on OpenTable a couple days before our Friday night dinner. The interior is very moody and rustic, which matches the cuisine theme of farm-to-table but contemporary. The dinner was delicious. We managed to order the LAST house made bread, which was an amazingly fluffy and flavorful focaccia with sun dried tomato butter. It was incredible! Another noteworthy dish of the night was the Ling Cod which had a savory tomato sauce that complemented the fish beautifully. The only dish that fell short was the beet salad, some of the beets weren't pickled correctly and so were hard/fibrous. Practically inedible. We casually told our server Daniel and he took it off of our tab without us even asking. The service was amazing. Daniel was amazing. He gave perfect recs and really made our night special!

Great pricing for my breakfast plate at $18. Friendly service, good food. Little sad that they weren't packed on a Saturday morning during the brunch rush. Good vegetarian options. I enjoyed the pork belly bacon though some people might find it a little too fatty. Nice clean bathroom.

Relaxing and modern setting with superb service. Nov tasting set is very satisfying. Good example of "minimum fuss and maximum flavor".

Brownie dessert, not too rich but hit my chocolate craving, including a candle to celebrate my birthday.

Special birthday dinner booked by my husband. The food was delicious, the ambiance was romantic and the service impeccable. Highly recommend, whether you are celebrating something or looking for great farm to table food and service.

This is a review for brunch. We made reservations and were seated right away. Our server was exceptional - he was friendly and oh so helpful. The ambiance is lovely - chill and understated, with dim lighting. The food was good, but I guess we just weren't blown away. Everything was good, but nothing was amazing. Normal flavors. Solid 4 stars.

Upscale and farm fresh fable is a wonderful dining experience. I came here on a Friday evening and would definitely recommend a reservation ahead of time. My sister is vegetarian and my mom also has some dietary restrictions and yet they still had plenty of options to choose from the menu. Some of our favorite dishes were the gnocchi and squash Ragu. Will be returning when in the neighborhood

Another brunch place ticked off my list. Place was always packed so would recommend a reservation. Honestly, tables were pretty close together so it's hard to talk with how noisy the restaurant was. Service was alright, but I thought it was pretty shady for the waitress not to confirm that the extra pickles were extra charges. Most people in our group ordered the french toast (courtesy of me of course hahaha), however it's not as good as I expected given the rave reviews online imo. The brioche was way too floppy, flavour wise it was just sugary sweet, and there's barely any fruits. Got the same sentiment across their other items (they were decent, not great). Once is enough for me. List of items we ordered and the prices (I didn't try their dishes so can't rate them): 1. French Toast ($18) 2. Kitsilano Vegan Bowl ($18) 3. Fable Breakfast ($18) 4. Smash Burger ($19) plus cheese ($2)

Duck Breast.

What a meal! Timing of courses and service was spot on despite the heavy traffic. Came here for dinner service and honestly it did not disappoint. Duck Breast - seared nicely with juicy morsels of duck in every bite. Special Fried Fish Wrap Board was the star in my opinion. I didn't expect this to be available but boy was I glad I came when it was on the menu. If gills and fish bones don't scare you, this may be the thing for you. Quite a bit of fish meat to be had, pickled vegetables and being able to make green wraps provided the much needed respite from eating more potato's or filling up on bread. Maitake - the cashew cream on this dish really completed it for me. All in all, anything fungus/mushroom like is a generally a win. This one was no different Chickpea Fritters - a bit too heavy for me personally but if you wanted something besides bread or potatoes to fill you up, this is a pretty solid option. All in all, a cozy farm to table eatery that I think shines brighter during dinner than the most often praised about brunch hour. This one is a definite return on my books.

What a fun and completely unexpected dining experience! My husband and I stumbled upon fable on our journey from Vancouver to Squamish and it was the highlight of our trip to date! Parking was a bit challenging on the street, but after finding a spot we bundled up and made our way into Fable hoping for a table. Luckily it was pretty empty and we were seated right away by the delightful Manon who greeted us with a beautiful smile. At our table Manon showed me the coat hooks where I could hang my jacket for the meal and brought us water. She reviewed the menu and left us to enjoy our cocktails. We started with the blacklight and my husband ordered a whiskey drink. Both were delicious. Food is created to be shared so we eagerly ordered a fun variety to sample. We started with the bread and butter which was amazing! It was perfectly cooked foccocia bread with a delicious light herb butter. It was simple yet delicious. Next out we were surprised with the most exciting and tasteful amuse bouche we've ever experienced. My husband described it best so I'll insert his words here for you. "Wow that made my mouth so happy. It was an explosion of flavor. Sour from the pickled onion, heat of the aioli and the zing from the lemon drive this starter crazy." The dish was a warm and crispy curd served on a small spoon with pickled onion on top. We could have easily enjoyed a bowl of them as a starter! They were SO tasty!!! Next out we shared the winter salad. The lettuce was fresh and the dressing was light and perfectly flavored to complement each vegetable. I ordered the sable fish and my husband chose the 12oz butchers cut that was aged for 30 days. We added the patatas bravas in to give us a starch. The sable fish was cooked perfectly. It was tender and moist and the greens beside it were beyond delicious! I could eat them daily!!! So good! I swapped some of my fish for a sliver of my hubby's steak and enjoyed that as well. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly at medium rare. The mushrooms that accompanied the dish were flavorful and complimented it nicely. We skipped desert and opted to share a bottle of the Geheinger brothers private reserve. The ambiance was fun, with pitch fork chandeliers hanging above the table, Antigua furniture and tables made of butcher block. The kitchen and bar are open concept so you have the ability to observe art as it's created before experiencing it with your other senses. Overall the experience was top notch. Manon is excellent and an absolute gem. The food is unique and beyond stellar- every single thing we ate was drool worthy- and the ambiance was simple yet fun! I highly recommend this place and cannot wait to return!

I always pass by this restaurant. Finally a friend asked to have brunch here today, so here I am. My friend reserved a table online which was very convenient and I always like to reserve tables online without waiting in a super long line up for an hour or so. The server provided great service. The ambience was great for family or friends gathering. The venue has a decent size. It is considered comfortable that there is a reasonable distance between tables and customers, so we could chat without hearing what others were talking next to us. Their menu had different options for customers to choose from. We ordered a few dishes. I felt each dish was presented well. But the flavour was okay. It was just a normal dish of western breakfast to me. I wouldn't say I would wow for it. The location is right on a busy street that customers can come here to eat and walk around the neighbourhood after the meal. It's hard to find parking though. It's better for ones who take public transit or who live in the neighbourhood.

My friends and I had a great time here during our visit to Vancouver. I'm glad we had a reservation because it was pretty busy when we walked in. We came in for brunch on Victoria Day and they were doing a special menu that was a pretty good deal and included a main, drinks, and some extra pastries. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive at all times. It's a nice restaurant on a commercial street. I'd certainly recommend checking it out!

We had four: - Miku roll, with torched fish eggs, the texture and flavour are incredible. - surf and turf, this has beef tataki and da really different but good flavour - salmon and saba Oshi Aburi. My kids favourite. The flavour - it just melts in your mouth and it is sooo good. The flavour is what really stands out. It's not a huge portion. All the appetizers are excellent. In particular our group loved the tofu salad. My daughter says it's the best salad she ever had. Ebi fritters were outstanding too. Crunchy and delish but somehow light at the same time. The brussel sprouts were a bit spicy. Spinach Gomae has an amazing flavour. The desserts are great too. The banana mousse in particular was sublime. You can't go wrong here for your next occasion.

Food was fine, but sadly their rice was slightly undercooked and under-seasoned in their sushi. Ive definitely had it better here, so they are just inconsistent. We had the aburi salmon, aburi shrimp, aburi nigiri combo and all with same problem. Seasoning on the fish was on point. though. Also we ordered the sablefish, octopus, soba noodle. These were all pretty good. They are very expensive though with very small portions. They are priced like a fine dining establishment but the dining experience felt more casual. After $300 for a meal for 4 without drinks, we all left still hungry. And given the abundance of high quality sushi in this city, this place is disappointing and way overpriced. The inconsistent quality though is inexcusable if they charge this much. They do have many items catering to a very western palate and clearly this place targets cruise ship tourists and convention-goers which I suspect is part of the reason their pricing is so high. If youve never really had sushi before, this place is a nice introduction in a nice environment with good service and plenty of non-sushi dishes as well. If you're looking for serious sushi then look elsewhere for much better quality, variety, and value.

And this place measures up to a lot of the ones in Japan! Ever since the viral sensation of the new evolved form of Omurice, many locations in Tokyo now also serve this dish. Outside of Japan, it's hard to find ones much better than what they serve here. The rice is cooked very well, the curry is delicious and has more depth than the store bought roux, and the eggs are cooked perfectly. We had a wonderful server who was able to answer all my questions in a friendly manner, and they were also pretty quick to serve. We both had the traditional omurice. The omelette was nicely cooked. When cut open, all the juice came out nicely. The fried rice underneath has a large portion, tastes good, but a little bit hard. The curry sauce on the side of the plate is quite salty, but it complement the egg well. The service was really good, and our server even came to ask some feedback for improvement. Overall, we really like this place and will stop again when in the area. Free parking is available in the underground parking lot. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. Service was quick, relaxed, and no fuss -- ideal for a casual lunch or a lowkey dinner. Final thoughts: If you're on Robson and need a sushi fix, this is one of those quietly solid gems that never misses. Not overhyped... just consistently good.

Takenaka Uni Bar was hands down one of the best meals of our entire Vancouver trip. If it were up…read moreto me, we would've gone here every single day. My partner and I ordered the Takenaka omakase course and it was unreal -- genuinely one of those meals you don't stop thinking about after. I love uni, and this absolutely delivered. There was both American and Japanese uni, and everything tasted incredibly fresh, rich, and deeply umami in the best way possible. The staff were amazing and so friendly, and the restaurant itself had the perfect vibe -- intimate, intentional, and special without feeling stuffy. This was the one place I marked as a MUST GO on our itinerary, and it exceeded every expectation. Do not skip this spot if you're in Vancouver.
