The combination of authentic Punjabi food combined with an upscale modern ambiance is not something we get in Seattle so I am absolutely blown away. We ordered Paneer Tikka, Channa Bhatura and Amritsari Kulcha along with Chicken Noodles for the kids. Everything was really good. We particularly like Channa Bhatura because Seattle hasn't been able to get this dish right. Staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating as well. Food came out fast. So glad they have this yaletown location so that I don't have to drive all the way to Surrey. Similar ambiance and decor. Same black outfit for servers and hostesses. Despite seeing empty tables inside, we requested a cozy table to celebrate my son's accomplishments. Hostess said they were all reserved and redirected us to the covered patio. At first we were fine with that even though I had intended to show off the interiors to my son. After a while, we felt cold so I requested for an inside table again. Went to Tasty Indian Bistro in Yaletown on a Saturday afternoon. Their space is pretty big with a heated patio and two floors inside. The place was pretty empty so we were seated right away. We decided to sit in their patio which was super warm and cozy in the rainy weather! We ordered their channa bhattura, the bhatturas were so soft and hot they melted in your mouth. It came with channa masala, spicy potatoes, raita, and pickled onions (my fav). It came with two bathuras which was good for 2 people! We also ordered their malai chicken tikka, it came in a sizzler which salad and lemon. The chicken was very creamy and soft, again... melted in your mouth! Some of my favorite Indian meals in Vancouver have been random spots I just stopped in and was totally blown away. So, on this trip, in order to really up my game I planned ahead and surveyed the landscape for the best indian spots in Vancouver. Tasty Indian Bistro comes up again and again as a hands-down favorite among locals. Of the restaurants on my short list, it was also walkable to my hotel. So, a reservation was made. When we arrived at our hotel, they asked about our dinner plans and seemed impressed when we told them we had reservations at Tasty Indian Bistro-- immediate +1 for anticipation. In the end, the meal just didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We tried the aloo gobi and the saag paneer. Maybe these are not their specialties or perhaps my expectations were too high. In any case, while good, these did not blow me away. The naan was delicious! The aloo goby was better than the saag paneer. Flavorful and a little smokey. Would order this one again. The saag just wasn't too flavorful and would not be a re-order for us. Veggie pakoras were extremely crunchy and crisp but not much else going on flavor-wise and the dipping sauces were similarly fine but not super flavorful. One other item of note is that they advertise fresh juice on their menu. These are not made to order but pre-packaged. Still tasty but I was hoping for a fresh squeeze, man! I've only tried takeout from this location, but it's very cute and I'd love to dine in or eat on the patio! The staff is always kind and our orders are consistently ready on time. The food was ALL delicious - I have no complaints! The chicken tikka was so flavorful and had a great spice, with large chunks of juicy chicken and fresh, cooked veggies. The rice is a la carte, but I think it's worth it and not terribly unreasonable. The garlic naan was recommended to us, and I think it's absolutely worth it! Came here as it was recommended by our Lyft driver and it exceeded my expectations! Living in the Bay Area, I feel we have some exceptional Indian food. However, paneer is one dish that I don't care for, but my mind was changed after dining here! The restaurant is huge, classy elegant vibes, but everyone dressed casually. I wish I remember our waitress' name, but she was so sweet and helped us pick our dishes. Their cocktails are unfortunately not customizable so went with my trusty Moscow Mule. We ordered Masala fries, pudina paneer tikka, butter chicken, kadahi paneer, rice, and naan. The masala fries were stickier than I imagined and overpowering in flavor, but I kept going back to them. Butter chicken was pretty good, heard they sell the sauce by the bottle! The kadahi paneer was a bit too spicy for me, even at medium level, but good. But the pudina paneer tikka was the star! Came on a sizzling plate, nice and hot, onions, mint, and paneer that was the perfect texture. Not rubbery as I am used to. It was so lovely and I would come back again just for this! I've heard great reviews about this restaurant chain and was happy they have a location in Yaletown very close to the yaletown roundhouse skytrain station. The decor inside looks very beautiful and modern, and the service was very friendly and responsive to our questions about their menu as we wanted to try dishes we haven't tried before. We ended up ordering the chicken lababdar (as per our waiters recommendation) with medium spice, kadahi lamb (medium), lamb biryani (mild) and the kalonji naan. Overall the food was fantastic! Our waiters recommendation of the chicken lababdar was amazing; it was a tandoori chicken curry and honestly a MUST try. The initial curry flavour was very fragrant and not overpowering, allowing the subtle tandoori flavour to flood your senses, all paired with extremely juicy chicken that required no effort to chew. By far the best dish of the night. The kadahi lamb dish was also very good; the meat was tender and paired well with the lamb biryani. The lamb biryani was average, with the typical fragrance you would expect with a biryani however we found the lamb to be on the drier side. I would order it again with a medium spice level to see if it would enhance the flavour. The raita yogurt was also very refreshing and complimented the biryani. The kalonji naan was made to order and honestly the best naan I've ever had. The olive oil and various spices added to the naan added a unique and delicious fragrance to the naan, on an already perfectly cooked, crispy and chewy naan bread. The perfect supplement to the amazing curries we had this night. We were extremely happy with what we ordered, and the service from our host. I've actually always been resistant to Indian cuisine and I hadn't tried Indian food before this. I was convinced by a good friend to come here and try it once, and surprisingly, I found it quite tasty. My friend said that if you don't locate it, there might still be a long queue at 21:00 pm. Is Indian food so hot? The restaurant is 80% Indian, Sev is Puri filled with potatoes, onions, tomatoes, some of their homemade sweet and spicy chutney and then sprinkled with some noodles. Corn Chops is honestly I don't know what it is, but it's so much tastier in my mouth than Puri, and the spicy sauce is a little bit hotter than it should be. Butter Chicken is an Indian dish that a lot of people have mentioned, and I didn't have any trouble eating it. Main course curry ordered chicken (because my friend does not eat lamb) curry is coconut flavor of the exotic, slightly spicy, spice flavor is very heavy. It is totally different from Japanese curry and Hong Kong style curry. This is also good with Naan or rice. The Naan pancake is really worth praising. It was still hot when I served it, and it was bigger than my hand with the curry. The flavors were great, even when eaten dry. The tandoori chicken was served at many tables, so we ordered it as well. It was very flavorful, except for the thighs which were good, the other parts were very average, so I don't think we'll order it again next time. read more

The restaurant is upscale and elegant, but the food was just okay. My party of five was rarely helped by our waiter; we had to wait for him to walk near us so we could flag him down to take our order and our drinks were rarely refilled. There were only a couple of other tables, so this was even more surprising. We ordered their chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, devil's drumsticks, garlic naan, and gobi manchurian. My personal favorite was the chicken tikka masala, which is definitely a classic staple, and the drumsticks, which were plated nicely. I did not love the gobi manchurian, mainly because of the texture of the cauliflower. However, the most upsetting part was that rice was not included with the entrees. This is the only Indian place that I've ever been to that charges extra for rice. Other places come with rice or naan, especially if you order tikka masala or korma. We were told that the rice was big enough to share, so we only ordered two, but three probably would have been better. Just for the price alone, I don't think I would come back, despite some really good entrees. read more

This is our favorite Indian restaurant in Vancouver, B.C. We have been to the Delta location several times and were delighted to find the Yaletown location after visiting Granville Island. Both are beautiful inside, have excellent servers and the food is always outstanding. We have lived and traveled in India, so know our Indian food. Some of the food we had there wasn't this good! Don't let the hokey, unsophisticated name fool you. Maybe it offers a measure of authenticity. We ordered a couple types of naan, basmati rice, butter chicken, Kadahi lamb, Vegetable korma, dal makhni, and lassis. All were excellent. My favorite was the butter chicken, but I loved it all. I really wanted to like this place. The location and the atmosphere were on-point and I love good indian food! However, there were a few major things that let it down for me. First off, our server was not very good. She was distant, grouchy and honestly just seemed like she didn't want to be there. It was the four of us and she only took the order of three of us before she walked away and our fourth guest sat there in confusion. Look, I get it....I've worked in service for over a decade and a big part of being qualified to serve customers is to be able to check your baggage at the door before your shift starts. The food was below par. It just wasn't fresh. We ordered drinks and with it came old stale limes. With the size of the bar they have you'd think they'd be cutting fresh limes constantly but we got served ....well...check out the pics. The flat bread did not look appetizing at all, and on top of it it was served with the butt of a tomato. My fish Pacora was ok but the veggies on top again were dried out. We also ordered some Masala Fries and that was also disappointing because it tasted like old fries that had been microwaved....soft and limpy. Beautiful restaurant with chic modern decor with an Indian twist. Had dinner with a few friends. As it was a little late we skipped appetizers and went straight for dinner. One of my sons had the paneer tacos which he loved. A couple of the other kids had the chilli paneer, vegetable Manchurian and veggie Hakka noodles and polished them off. The six adults shared dal fry, dal makhani, palak paneer, malai kofta accompanied with naan and tandoori roti. Delicious food, prepared with quality ingredients, and rich gravies. The one member of our party who eats meat order the seekh kabab. He was pleasantly surprised by the blend of chicken and lamb. All in all, everyone left well fed and happy with the decision to eat here. I should mention service was also very attentive and helpful. From the menu we couldn't tell the difference between the Tasty IPA and the Tasty Pale Ale. We sampled both.
