North Indian flavours done right at Swad Indian Kitchen. From creamy butter chicken to vibrant veggie dishes, every bite is rich, bold, and full of warmth. Their $14.95 lunch combo (until 3 pm daily) includes rice with your choice of Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Dal Tadka or Aloo Gobi -- perfect for a mid-day treat. Craving more? Try the Chicken Kathi Roll or Samosa & Chana Masala. Bonus: Lager, Pale Ale, and House Wine are just $6. Plus, they have a private room with ocean views that's ideal for group hangs or special occasions. I had previously only dined here for dinner. The vibes are a bit different during the day vs dinner. Dinner is definitely more fancy, intimate, and romantic. The lunch dishes are on the smaller and lighter side compared to their dinner dishes. The flavours are still there and the portions are good for lunch. 1734 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1J3 (Close to Ambleside, John Lawson Park, and West Vancouver Seawall) Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Parking 5/5 free 2 hour street parking around the block. Incredible Late Valentine's Dinner at Swad! I visited Swad Indian Kitchen for their Dine The Villages special event, and it was the perfect way to celebrate a late Valentine's Day. The Kachumber Salad was a great, fresh start to the meal. For the main courses, the Mango Chicken was absolutely delicious with the perfect hint of sweetness, and the Goan Fish Curry was incredibly flavorful and authentic. Both paired perfectly with the Biryani rice. Everything was so yummy, and the $45 set menu is a fantastic deal for the quality of food you get in West Vancouver. Highly recommend for a special night out!.

Reshami Paneer, Pudina Parantha, Salty Lassi

I really enjoyed Swad! I had a reservation here at 5:30 on a Saturday with some friends before a concert at a hall nearby, and we were about 15 minutes late due to traffic, but they didn't seem put off which was a relief, probably because they weren't too busy yet, although it was getting there by the time we left. The ambiance inside was so nice; the decoration was elegant and classy but not overstated, the lighting low and warm, and the chairs comfortable. The vibe is a little upscale (more than we were expecting) but not inaccessible at all. I ordered the Reshami Paneer, a Pudina Parantha, and a Salty Lassi - all were excellent. I haven't seen this paneer dish at a restaurant before and really liked it - it was zingier than similar paneer curries like kadai paneer or paneer tikka masala and tasted very vibrant. I ordered medium spice and it fell just about where I expected it to. The level was good for me, although I could've handled a little spicier - if you're used to the medium spice level from super authentic places, this was a little less than that, but I think about average for the majority Canadian or American Indian restaurants. Others in my group ordered the butter chicken and palak paneer and had good things to say. My one friend is sensitive to heat and ordered his butter chicken mild, and said it was fine for him. The parantha was very flaky and almost doughy on the inside, just how I like it, and fragrant with the mint. The lassi was nice and smooth, not too heavy, and made a nice accompaniment to my meal. Our food came out in a very timely manner after ordering. The à-la-carte mains and breads are decently-sized portioned for one person, but the rice sides, which others at my table shared, are enough for 2 people each. Our waiter was very personable, but he really tried to push us to order appetizers and desserts, which would have been fun and cute if that was what we wanted, but we had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted and did have somewhere to be after, and I think we all felt awkward declining. It was also a challenge to get his attention to get the bill once we were finished. When we were ready for the bill, he seemed a little puzzled by our request to have it split - it was no problem for him to split it evenly 4 ways, but we had all ordered our own entrees and breads and I had gotten my own drink; the rices were the only thing that was shared. But I guess the dishes are intended to be shared so that's what they assumed we did. Everything was close enough in cost that we just went with it, and our totals before tip came out to $26 per person, which isn't bad at all considering the quality of food and the general dining experience. I think these little awkward things we encountered can largely be attributed to our expectations being a little off and them not getting much of a uni student crowd. The experience overall was lovely.

If you enjoy Indian food, this is a must try restaurant! Great atmosphere and welcoming service. We were at Swad with another couple and shared a few dishes. Be sure and ask for them to come at the same time and not family style as they will come one at a time. I had to try the butter chicken which was at the top of the list for the best I have ever tasted. We ordered two fabulous vegetable dishes, Aloo Gobhi Vegetable Korma, both were wonderful. Lastly we had a delightful white fish that was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the food amazing. I strongly recommend reservations on a Friday or Saturday night.

Nice restaurant located in West Van with street and back yard free parking. Cozy environment, friendly service. Monday and Tuesday are customer appreciation night, you can get 25% off. For bottled wines you can get 50% off, good deal! As I am not an Indian food expert, my friend did the ordering. The Lamb and buttered chicken are must try, best with rice or naan, yummy! I also like the spinach with cheese, the waiter said the cheese was home made, so tasty!

Came here for my first meal in Vancouver and we enjoyed it! There's a great deal of 25% off on Mondays and Tuesdays, only for dinner. We ordered the butter chicken & palak paneer with rice and naan. They were nice enough to serve us even though it was cutting close to time the kitchen closes.

Searching for a place to enjoy a nice dinner prior to a concert at the nearby Kay Meek Arts Centre, we came upon Swad whilst strolling along Marine Drive. A beautiful room with terrific service. This set the ambience for a wonderful dining experience. The food was very good and was prepared with care and precision. We enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer very much - sweet and tangy, it opened our palates nicely. On special was a chicken kabab marinated with herbs, lemon and yogurt - very tender and flavourful. We ordered the Swad E Lamb for our main, coconut curried lamb, was very good. The curry was prepared to our desired spice level, a wonderful detail. They offer a customer appreciation night on Monday and Tuesday with 25% discounted off all good items. The was a great opportunity to discover a West Vancouver gem. We look forward to our return visit.

I made reservations for us for 4pm, so as to take advantage of their Happy Hour. We went earlier today (a Wednesday) and the place was empty at 4pm. I think it fills up later, for dinner. (I still advise making reservations as you never really know if it's going to be busy). Right off the bat, we were blown away by the interior. It is gorgeous! Small, but gorgeous. The murals, the chandeliers, the bar....and omg, the bathrooms. If you visit, you MUST check out the bathrooms. They have the most fabulous sinks I have ever seen. They didn't have a large selection of HH offerings, unfortunately, but what they did have was amazingly good. My friends who were extremely knowledgeable on Indian cuisine ordered for us, and we shared 3 different small plates (tandoori vegetable momos, cochin cauliflower bites, and some sort of delicious fried onions), and 2 desserts (soan paid malai khwaab, and foxtail millet pudding). And just...wow, everything was SO SO good. The three appetizers were so flavorful and the desserts, unlike anything I've ever had before and simply delicious. We also had drinks (but, of course!). One friend had a mango lassi which she loved, one friend had a high ball which she loved, and I had a mango mojito which I loved. (See a pattern? lol). All was great. Our server, Leesa (not sure of spelling) was so incredibly personable and lovely, and a gentleman I gather is the owner came by twice to make sure everything was okay. We felt like VIPs, with all the care and attention we got. Seriously, the folks here could not be nicer. I'm already planning on bringing my two daughters here. I know they'll love this place. Heck, anyone would love this place. My friends and I all plan on returning. Great great place!

We came around 4pm and had a couple of drinks from the regular menu plus the Kerala pepper chicken the momos and the veggie fritters. Again, the food is very good and the prices were reasonable. I will have to come back late night to see if the happy hour issue is rectified at that time as I see the menu is still the exact same as before. ********* Came here after hearing about the recent celebrity visit. First of all, the food is very good the portions are also decent and the prices are reasonable. I would have liked to have come back here for the lunch special as it's walking distance for me, but my visit left a bad taste in my mouth, which I will detail below. The dishes are inventive. There are the usual suspects, but also some that aren't often see at most Indian restaurants in Metro Van. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. The cocktails are pricey, but interesting. The decor is trendy. The bathrooms have an interesting sink feature that I have not seen before. If you're into social media, there's definitely some photo opportunities here. The service is a bit weird as there isn't really a dedicated server for the table. So, basically, we had all sorts of different people taking our drink and food orders, bringing us food, refilling our water and checking in on us. On the plus, it means that you are checked on a lot. On the minus, it is a bit inconsistent because there isn't one single person who knows what is going on with the table, but more a revolving door. For instance, one staff member came and took our drink order, however the wrong drink ended up being made and brought to me by the bartender, even though the drinks had been extensively discussed with the original server. So there's definitely communication issues. My biggest gripe with this restaurant is that we were denied ordering from the happy hour menu by the manager. I did not want to argue about it at the time as the bartender was told in front of us to deny us the happy hour menu, from which we wanted to order some cocktails. At this point, we had already ordered several menu items (in fact so many that the server had advised us we had more than enough food and that we did not need to order an additional dish we were considering) plus full priced cocktails. So it's not like they weren't making money off our table. The reason we were given, which I believe was told to the bartender (to be clear, I do not believe the bartender was at fault, but simply the messenger in this situation), was that the happy hour was only a summer thing. Again, we visually saw the manager instruct the bartender to tell us these things -- they were literally standing in front of our table, less than 5 feet away. This was not only unprofessional, but I found it incredibly dishonest. It was mid-December when we were at the restaurant, 3.5 months after summer had ended. The happy hour menu is literally the first page in the menu book. If a restaurant doesn't want to honour their own happy hour menu, it costs very little to simply reprint the happy hour menu, remove that page completely, or cross it out, if they really want to be cheap. At minimum, they should have honoured the menu for patrons that they gave it to and then rectified the situation for future. For this reason, I cannot recommend this establishment even though the food was very good and I would have otherwise come back and supported this small business.

We got the look as if we were sure we were in the right place not in a bad way but as if we were sure that was what we wanted. Every time we have visited there was no wait to get seated in fact the place is almost empty. Just a few people at a time. They are very friendly and feels like family vibes and I love that. Like mom is in the kitchen. Dad got the front door and the boys are bringing in the produce from outside. Service is great and the family is very humble and proud as they should be. Food comes out pretty quick and you can always get a drink to keep you comfortable. I got a glass of Malbec my favorite. Two people two dishes we were reminded that it is a lot of food and would be satisfied. Thankfully! Wife loves butter chicken and I love korma but got the saag my second runner up. Garlic naan and rice... we were full! End of the meal my man tells us they just finished making dessert and brought us some great bread pudding. There are different seating options with traditional tables, high-tops, armchairs, and a window counter. Very clean. They have a variety of street food and sort of modern/fusion Indian food on the menu, and also gelato. For their food, I tried their veg cutlet wrap and the soya chaap sandwich. I really enjoyed both, both very flavourful. The wrap seemed like it was probably the healthier option but neither were greasy/heavy. Low spice level but full of flavour. The guy at the counter actually warned me that the chaap wasn't his favourite, but I really liked it, it was very flavourful. I did appreciate the recommendation though, I just know that I like chaap. They have chai and coffee to drink, as well as a huge selection of soft drinks in the fridge. The chai comes from a machine but it's pretty good. I'd give them 5 stars if they made their own though! The convenience of the machine is you can choose from 3 flavours. The cardamom is strong while the masala chai seems sweeter and smoother. I really like that they have dirty chai (chai + espresso) on the menu - I've tried the Western-style dirty chai latte, but this is the first time I've tried it with Indian chai, and it's a nice unique taste! The guys who work here are very friendly and helpful with recommendations. I used to like Dilli Heights but occasionally had problems with the service/atmosphere, so I'm happy that they're back with those issues seemingly resolved for now. I hope they can keep it up!
