This place was recommended by our friend who loves Korean food. It was located on side street nearby, but moved inside of the Brentwood mall'a foos court. after it's built. It has a separate entrance as an actual restaurant. The place is well maintained, nice and clean, with a bar behind the entrance. We ordered some of their signature dishes such as the Sooda platter, Sooda box, and seafood pancake to share with. The Sooda platter is the bomb! It has rice, egg rolls, bulgogi, cheese and corn. The waiter also mixed the cheese and corn for us, which was a nice service. The table also has a build in heating mat which kept the platter warm the entire time. The pressed sushi style Sooda box was also very yummy, the jalapeño pepper on the top has a kick to it, and it's not the mild kind. If you like spiciness, you'll love it. The seafood pancake was nice too, not a lot of seafood inside, so it's light and crunchy. The tofu strew was pretty standard, but nicely seasoned. This is definitely one of the hidden gems in Brentwood mall, and good for group to visit and share. If you like Korean comfort food, you will like this place.
My colleagues and I went to Sooda in Brentwood Mall. We ordered a number of dishes, including the Sooda Box and shared them. The food was exceptional - the flavours really stood out and it was made with fresh ingredients. We received our dishes quickly and had polite, attentive staff take and provide us with our orders. The restaurant had plenty of seats and its atmosphere works well for all sorts of different situations.
Came here with the family as a last dinner in Vancouver. We went to another location during our last visit and this one was equally as delicious. We started with a makgarita and a green light which were both delicious. For dinner we had the Sooda bulgogi as well as Sooda box full and sweet and spicy chicken. Everything was beyond delicious. Our server was very nice and pleasant. Definitely recommend and will be back next time visiting.
we had reservations for happy hour for a party of four at 4:30 pm on a monday. sooda is located in brentwood mall, toward the food court where white spot used to be, but once inside it feels more like a standalone destination than a mall restaurant. the space is modern and open, with high exposed ceilings and hanging pendant lights. neon accents and warm lighting around the central bar give it a trendy, lounge like vibe, while greenery and wood finishes soften the industrial feel. tables are warm toned wood paired with dark green chairs, and the dining room feels lively and social without being chaotic. for food, we ordered the honey butter wings, korean hashbrowns, the sooda special platter, and the signature sooda box. after reviewing our order, the server mentioned it might be too much food, so we scaled back and ordered the half box instead of the full. the sooda special platter arrived first. there were two hot plates that i initially thought were coasters, connected to a temperature controlled heating unit at the end of the table that kept everything hot and continuously melting the cheese. i liked the cheese and corn component, which leaned mildly sweet, with the corn adding pops of sweetness rather than dominating the dish. texturally, it worked well, with good cheese pull and contrast against the rice. the beef bulgogi was well seasoned and flavourful, albeit slightly overcooked. the platter also included green onions and a homemade egg roll. the server offered to mix the platter for us, folding the melted cheese into the corn, which was a nice tableside touch and helped balance each bite. the korean hashbrown was flattened like a pancake and fried, topped with a small amount of lightly seasoned arugula salad. crisp, simple, and decent. the honey butter wings were sticky and flavourful. the signature sooda box was styled like aburi sushi and was awkward to cut with the tongs provided, getting squished in the process. not sure if it was actually torched. we ordered the "thank you so mush," and the highlight was definitely the truffle mayo, which i ended up dipping everything into. banchan included pickled radish, kimchi, and macaroni salad, though it wasn't mentioned whether these were refillable. the small oblong, oval plates looked nice but were too small to comfortably eat from, with minimal surface space to spread the food, making it difficult to keep things tidy while scooping shared dishes and melted cheese onto the plate. we finished all the savoury food and still had room for dessert, so we shared the black sesame ice cream. unfortunately, this was a disappointment. it was sandwiched between two rice crackers, and the ice cream was overly sweet, gritty, and tasted more milky than nutty. the chocolate and caramel sauce on the side didn't help. service was friendly but slow. it took a long time to place our order, get water refills, ask for a pitcher of water, get the dessert and receive the bill. this was especially frustrating given that the restaurant didn't seem very busy. overall, the space and concept are visually appealing and fun, with some solid dishes, but inconsistent execution and slow service held the experience back.
Decided to try something new from our usual Sooda Platter. Came here with a friend who had this place on their bucket list of places to try. Our friend has a very specific taste for Tokbokki and although it was great, it didn't quite hit the right spot for them, it we enjoyed it. Everything else was delicious as always! Service was fast and staff were very friendly! Ambiance is very hip, modern, and welcoming to relax and enjoy good times.
Who's down for a sizzling KBBQ feast? Sooda's (relatively) new Brentwood location--perfect for date night, family night, or a feast with friends! They tend to have a bit of a long wait time so make sure to plan accordingly. The food never disappoints and the quality is good. Service is sometimes slow but maybe it was because they were short staffed that night. Food 5/5 Service 3.5/5 Parking 5/5 (paid parking underneath the mall) Ambiance 5/5
The service was standard - the ambiance had a some hype to it. As far the food - I ordered the Bulgogi Platter. They serve it on a big platter. The taste was standard , the bulgogi portion was a little less than expected. I also ordered a side of KFC - that was okay too. Will probably come back to try some more dishes.
Sooda is where you'll need a lot of soda to flush all that sodium-rich grub down . For a Korean-run eatery their kimchi and macaroni salad banchan are weak . The "signature" Sooda platter essentially combines cheese corn , egg rolls , bulgogi and rice altogether but is imho more for IG than anything else . Yep call us oldies but not sure we'll be back as they lack Korean staples like dolsot bibimbap and kimbap etc . Service is friendly and prompt though .
Came back once again to my favourite Korean restaurant in North Burnaby area. The garlic Sooda box is my go-to so highly recommend that one if you're trying to decide! Their hot platter is also a must try - they'll mix it all up once it starts sizzling. I also ordered the mocktail lime mojito. This space is much bigger than their old location so we were seated right away. You cannot go wrong here!! I will definitely be back
Sooda's really popular and to some degree I can understand why. This new location in Brentwood is well-decorated and has great atmosphere, but its food is somewhat lacking in my opinion. Their signature Sooda Boxes were not bad per se, but they weren't anything to write home about. The flavours were fine but for the price they were charging I was hoping for something better. On a more positive note, we ordered the Seoul Monkey cocktail and it was fantastic. Definitely props to Sooda. Made with rice wine, banana liqueur, and banana puree, the Seoul Monkey is a must try. Service-wise, I found it was okay although that might be attributable to how busy it was that day. Overall, Sooda was worth trying although I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.
My first time at Sooda and was pretty good! We got the Sooda BBQ Hanpan, which is easily shareable between 2-3 people. It came with pork belly, beef belly, mixed veggies, 2 salad, 2 rice, and danjang jiggae. For $46, this is a real steal. Only feedback would be would've enjoyed more even split of beef belly, as there is triple the pork belly. As well, the soup was on the more bland side. But would still come back, as I think it's a fun group meal.

Every aspect of our meal today was incredible! I brought my husband and two teenage sons, who have huge appetites!! We were welcomed at the entrance and I explained we had never been, the host took his time to explain each page of the menu and suggest a few of his favourites. We tried the Daejigalbi Platter, Sooda Fries and the Original Sooda Box. Every member of my family raved about how delicious each bite was, and there was plenty of food for all of us (maybe even too much!) the Sooba Box dish was my favourite... although I have to say the corn cheese was possibly the best I've ever tried!! The staff were attentive and so kind, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the decor is cool and bright with funky little touches throughout the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is located in the Brentwood Mall food court and is self contained with their own washrooms (I like mentioning that each stall is self contained so they are gender neutral!)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will come back for sure if we are in Burnaby again!! read more
Sooda is located at the back of the food court of Amazing Brentwood on the 2nd floor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we came for lunch on the weekday, the restaurant had a lot of available seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I tried their Lunch Special - Jeyook rice set. For this dish, I've had better in other Korean restaurants in Vancouver. The waitress said it would be medium spicy -- it was not spicy. The sauce covered up how shredded up and fatty the pork slices were if you really looked. The flavors were just not there. The side dishes were also pretty bland for me and didn't have my usual favorites - it included shredded carrots, a mushroom-like dish, and kimchi that was not memorable. They offer some other items like Sooda Boxes and hot plates with melted cheese, etc that looks photo-worthy and probably would appeal to larger groups to share. Maybe those taste better. read more

Checked out the new location, and it's so much more convenient with plenty of parking. The food is still as tasty as ever! I highly recommend their Sooda Bulgogi Platter Rice--it's just as fun to eat as it is delicious. Toast the cheese a little longer for even more flavor, and don't forget to ask for the gochujang sauce for an extra kick. Their Manju Dumplings are also amazing--homemade in appearance with a uniquely aromatic sauce. A must-try! read more

My old friend came to visit from Chicago and wanted some Korean food so I chose Sooda because we had to go to Brentwood mall anyways. Right at 11:30am there was a line but we were seated immediately. They have great size and priced lunch specials as well their whole menu is affordable for the quality and the service is excellent!! The waitress was even kind enough to explain everything to my friends and always attentive and refilling everything even when it was packed. Will return again real soon! Thanks Sooda! read more
Located just down the street from the Amazing Brentwood in Burnaby. Has some plaza parking available , as well as street parking not too far away!~ They often get quite busy , so it can get quite loud and noisy - however conversations are still manageable - decent amount of seating , mainly for smaller groups - but can arrange for the larger groups as well. They communicate a 90 minute dining time limit when you are seated. The lost star is , i tasted absolutely no spice, it tasted more sweet then anything. - However it's still very delicious - just missed the spicy mark. We didn't need to order the Sooda Fries , however I was craving them as I knew they were amazing from my last few visits. -Cheesy and still crunchy - essentially this is like your Korean style poutine ! This was a 4.5 star experience :) - will definitely return - and hopefully try out there secondary location! read more

Stopped by for weekday lunch and ordered the Jeyook and Bulgogi lunch special. A little greasy this time. Food tasted good. I thought the Bulgogi in the bbq plate tasted better last time. read more

We were looking around for Korean BBQ and settled for this place since it was close by. The parking was accessible and somewhat easy to find, and the restaurant was clear and visible. When we went in, we were struck by a modern atmosphere. Seating took some time as the waiter didn't seem to be in a hurry. Once we got the menu, we were presented with a colorful but concise, comic-esque menu. We glanced over the lunch specials but ultimately decided on the BBQ items (Pork Jowl, Beef Tongue) and an order of Sweet and Spicy Chicken. The BBQ items came with 2 sides (kimchi and potato), Denjang chigae, salad, and rice. The kimchi tasted different than what I'm used to, as it wasn't as flavourful. When the food came, the Pork Jowl and Beef Tongue surprised me, as the portion was minuscule for its price. The cooking was fortunately taken care of by our waiter, who did a good job getting an appropriate sear. The KFC was somewhat crispy, but had a peculiar overly sweet cinnamon taste, and didn't remind me much of the typical sweet and spicy KFC chicken. It came as all wings/drumettes in a cute little basket. The Denjang chigae was your basic soup that balanced out the variety of flavors of the meal. Overall, we regretted not getting some of their lunch specials and signature "Sooda-Box"/"Sooda Special", as we realized it might've made a difference in our experience since the KBBQ and KFC was not the highlight of the menu. read more
Sooda was recommended by a friend for our next visit to Vancouver BC. We walked in and were greeted right away. We had a 45 min. queue wait. One girl was serving the whole restaurant. She did a great job for being alone. The menu is simple and easy to understand with illustrations and descriptions of every roll and dish. We had a cheese sooda box sushi and the sooda special. We would go back again to try some other menu items. It was worth the wait. read more
Finally came to Sooda after hearing good things about it and seeing photos of their food. There was about an hour or so wait as there were 11 names on the wait. We were able to sit at the bar. We ordered half of the original sooda box, half order of the honey garlic sooda box and a tofu kimchi with noodles. The original sooda box was creamy, the Koream steak tartar melted in your mouth and the jalapeño pepper wasn't hot. The honey garlic was sweeter than the original due to their sauce, and the roasted garlic gave it a nice light crunch when you eat it. We liked the original a little more. The tofu kimchi with noodles worked well as the noodles absorbed thr sauce from spicy pork. The tofu helped cleanse the palette so you can enjoy the next bite, whether it be more of this or another dish/item. We wanted to order the japchae as the couple beside us had it and it looked really good but it would have been too much. Next time we'll order it. We recommend coming early as they are really busy. The staff is super efficient, outgoing and the host (guy) was engaging with the customers. read more
The sooda box (torched tartare on pressed rice) was so good! It was buttery and flavourful. The seafood pancake that we ordered was crispy on the outside, but also loaded with a lot of corn, seafood, and green onions. Lastly, the tteokbokki was cheesy, and not too spicy so if you aren't good with spicy food, you don't have to worry! read more
The food was delicious, the sushi was my favourite and I highly recommend it. We got the half order. You do have to wait a while to be seated as it's a popular location/restaurant but definitely worth it. It's got a cool looking interior with neon lights, although nothing fancy. read more
I had an amazing experience at Sooda and overall enjoyed everything we ordered! Sooda Jeyook (42.99) Soondubu Chigae (14.99) Honey Garlic Sooda 1/2 Box (16.99) Seafood Pancake (23.99) The dishes were all incredibly flavourful but did lean towards the salty side so a drink is a must - we all got Pink Lemonade I would highly recommend the Sooda Jeyook which is a hot plate filled with cheese, corn, bulgogi, egg roll, and rice. It was super fun to mix to customize each bite! I also really loved the Honey Garlic Sooda Box which reminded me of aburi sushi but instead it's Korean steak! They don't take reservations and you have to try and out your name down early but the wait was worth it! You do need your vaccination and proof of ID. The food was delicious. We had 6 people at our tableand ordered a variety of things. We got one 300 ml of hot sake and a soju platter. The hot sake was good and I enjoyed most of the soju. I didn't enjoy the original too much nor the yogurt one. For dinner we ordered the Kong Bul which was perfect to share and the sauce was amazing. It had some rice cakes, beansprouts and tofu as well. We also got a Honey Garlic Sooda Box, the butter mayo sooda Box and the Cheese Sooda Box. The butter mayo and the cheese were my favorite and we actually dipped some in the Kong Bul as well and it was a great combination. In addition, we also got the Jeyook and Seafood Pancake. Both were also really good and the Jeyook was very well flavored. Friendly staff as well and it definitely recommend! read more

Korean BBQ near Brentwood Mall. On the smaller side but not tiny. Went there on a weeknight and had to wait half hour for a table. The place was pretty popular and there were still people waiting when we left. We got some soups to start. The gamjatang I ordered was pretty good, especially for a cold rainy night. For the BBQ, we got pork belly and pork jowl. The BBQ comes with a salad, and some lettuce leaves to wrap the meat if you choose to. BBQed pork belly and jowl at the table was of of course delicious, since these cuts have the fat content to crisp up on the grill. We also got the Sooda box which is tartar and sauce on a long block of rice, kind of like a sushi roll, which tasted alright. read more
Love this place! Just don't love waiting but I get why. They don't do online reservations so you have to come in person to put your name down. They are facing the main road so you will have to find parking around the condos which can be hard to find so go early. Not a huge place but man, if anyone asks me to go there to eat, I'm down even coming from Richmond. Service is great, ambiance is a little loud but expected but it's not unbearable. Great place to go with friends to catch up or to start the night and head to watch a movie or go to the rec room after in Brentwood. As I've been twice, I will just upload the photos we took as I can't remember the names of everything. Everything was amazing and I would highly recommend this place. The wait is worth it! read more
Sooda Korean BBQ Restaurant mixes traditional and fusion together to create delicious and fun to look at meals. It was later in the evening but my 3 friends and I wanted a small bite so decided to share some plates at Sooda. We ordered the Sooda Bulgogi, Seafood Pancake and a few beers. The Sooda Bulgogo was served on a large rectangle hot plate with the beef, veggies, rice and cheese plated separately. The servers told us to wait till the cheese melted before mixing it all up or take what you need and then scoop the melted cheese on top of your plate - we did the latter. The Seafood Pancake was so light and crispy. My new favourite compared to other restaurants that make it with more flour thus feeling heavy after a slice or two. This amount would have been good for three people but for the four of us it was just the right amount for a late night bite. We all enjoyed as the service, price and portion sizes were reasonable. My only beef, is the banchan are limited to 3 orders and after that a charge. The portion size for the banchan were so small (like 1/2 tablespoon) compared to other Korean restaurants. They also ran out of one side dish but didn't offer to substitute with another. All in all, we would come back to try other dishes. There are two locations in the lower Mainland: one in the Gastown neighbourhood and the other in Burnaby by Brentwood Centre. The vibe is neon and cartoon cute so majority of their clients, when I was there, were students and young adults.
