Given all the high reviews, I naturally had some high expectations for HAAN. It wasn't as exciting as I had thought it would be. The restaurant is nice and new looking but is small in size; with a group of 6, it did take a while before we got seated. Food was decent but not something I would go out of my way for. Bossam 4/5 -- This was the first time I had this dish. Although the pork was good, the thing that shined was the banchan. The spicy cucumbers, carrots, and onion salad accompanying the banchan were perfectly seasoned. BBQ Meats 3.5/5 -- Nothing really stood out for me. They were good but not out of ordinary. Seafood pancake 3/5 -- The ingredients in the pancake were lacking. Felt like the ratio between seafood and pancake was off. Japchae 3/5 -- this wasn't seasoned as much as I'd expect it to be. This was quite oily and I would've anticipated more sesame taste (sesame oil) given how greasy it was. Side dishes 4/5 -- the mashed egg/potato was delicious but I really wished they had the sweet potatoes (gamja bokkeum)

A great spot for Korean bbq! Visited on a Saturday afternoon and got a seat right away after taking temperature, getting a pump of hand sanitizer and leaving a name and phone number. Ordered the pork belly and beef and it came with the side dishes, 2 bowls of rice and a soup. The meat was seasoned well, and the side dishes were well flavoured. Also got a seafood pancake and it was delicious! Perfect amount of food for 3 people and we even took half the pancake to go.

My friend and I have been to Haan Korean restaurant 2 weeks ago. It was our first time trying this place. We had a such great experience. We arrived the restaurant when it just open at 12 pm noon. It's a middle size restaurant. It's nice and clean inside the restaurant. My friend and I ordered individual food and another food to share. The food came up very fast and fresh. Taste of food is very delicious. Even though this place is famous with its BBQ, but other food that we ordered are awesome. We are happy to dining in this place. Definitely, we will go back to this restaurant to try its bbq in the future.

Had dinner with friends for a birthday celebration and our experienced was very good. The place is busy but we have reservations so we got seated right away. Staff are friendly and they are happy to fulfill our request to refill the sides. Overall the food tastes very good especially the hot pot and seafood pancake.

Sides include kimchi, radishes potatoe salad rice lettuce onions mushrooms.

I have tried this place for over 4 years now. I will never get tired of how amazing the taste and the portions if their food is. Service is always amazing. They make sure to bring u the sides before even having to ask them for it. Always busy here make sure to reserve if possible. So worth the wait.

HAAN is one of my favourite Korean BBQ restaurants. I find it better than a lot of other korean bbq places in Lougheed, even if they are slightly pricier. They marinate the meat better and have really good mains/entrees such as their bossam (also marinated, not just simply boiled) and slow-cooked ribs. Portion sizes are big and they have a minimum 2 order per bbq items. Restaurant is always clean and service is friendly. Solid Korean place near Pinetree Village. The strip mall it is located in is quite difficult to get to though. Even though it's on Lougheed, it's not accessible from there. One has to get to the mall from Ponderosa. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall parking lot. The interior has a lot of dark painted wood. It honestly reminds quite a bit of Sura in downtown Vancouver. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food is quite decent quality. The appies included fish cakes, which was nice. Glass noodles - great flavour. Tasty. Seafood pancake - nice and thick. Plenty of fillings. Tofu hot pot - served with square pack of instant noodles, which get added to the pot during cooking. Soup was nice and spicy. Tofu seemed fresh. Overall it was a good time. I would definitely come back. Recommended.

Bibimbap, Spicy Pork Back Bone Hot Pot with Potato and Mixed Vegetable

A decent place for Korean food. Lots of parking available, easy to find, and the interior is spacious. My friend and I came here for dinner on a weekday around 6:30pm. It wasn't 'bustling' with people when we arrived, but once we got seated, more people started coming in. Service was a bit slow as we didn't get our waters until after we ordered and no one really checked up on us during our dining experience until the very end when we were about to pay. I found the food to be okay. The side dishes were decent, though I found the kimchi a bit too sour for my liking. We ordered their Bibimbap and the Spicy pork back bone hot pot with potato and mixed vegetable. The Hot Pot is big and definitely more than enough to feed 2 people. Overall, the flavours from the dishes were what I expected. Small tip: I noticed many people were having their BBQ options. So I would definitely recommend trying out their KBBQ (it seems like that's what people like from this restaurant!)

Finding a new Korean restaurant is great! Haan BBQ was really good. They had a good selection of beef and pork to grill. Unfortunately, no chicken. The marinated beef was really thin, seasoned well, and tasted great! They had other classic Korean dishes - bibumbap, soups, and seafood pancake. One thing that I have to mention is that they use infrared grills and non-stick grills. I prefer the traditional cast iron or steel grills. The crispy, burnt bits add to the flavor. The tables and seating was good. The service was fast and friendly. Only wish that they had call buttons on the tables. Definitely worth another visit.

So great to see a Korean BBQ in the port coquitlam area! This place is good! It has a selection of meat, entrees and sides to choose from! For BBQ at least 2 meat selection must be ordered and it comes along with rice, soup, and lettuce to wrap your meat. The meat was super tender and full of flavours. Highly recommend the marinated meats! They have a really nice sweet and savory flavour! The restaurant is still relatively new and it does get really busy so do go there early or expect to wait a bit.

This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community. The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite. Here's what we ordered: * Beef Tartare Bibimbap - Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish! * Naengmyeon - Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day. * Japchae - Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all--just the right balance of flavour. Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours--Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We ordered short rib BBQ, Beef tartare Bibimbap, and original-flavor deep-fried chicken wings. Beef tartare Bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl with a variety of vegetables on top of the rice. The gochujang sauce was served separately, allowing us to adjust the spiciness to our preference. It was a pretty good dish. The short rib BBQ was very tender and nicely seasoned. It was slightly on the sweeter side, very delicious. I will definitely order it again. The original flavor deep-fried chicken wings were served fresh and hot. They were incredibly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside--very good! Next time, I should order them with a flavored seasoning, as I already knew the original version was cooked with less saltiness, meant to be paired with a sauce. Overall, I really like this restaurant. The food tasted good, and the most notable point was the reasonable price! It was a very good deal, and it has now become one of my regular go-to places.

Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

Not only does the family-owned place clean every piece of meat super well so that their intestines avoid tasting gamey, but the side dishes are also really delicious. Unfortunately most Korean restaurants in Vancouver do not have purple rice. -Cold Noodle (14.99$, but they have a lunch special where, for 16.99$, you get two potato pancakes): At first I was hesitant to order this because I love buckwheat (dark gray/purplish colour) cold noodles, and these weren't those, but am so happy we did. I love the texture. The flavour of the broth was also excellent. My only qualm was the "cucumber garnishes" that, in my opinion, were actually too-sweet pickles. Other than that, highly recommend. Potato pancakes were also very yummy. They served complimentary barley tea, and had yummy banchans (kimchi radish, fish cake, and soy sauce pickled onions). The waitress (daughter of the owner-her mother) was very kind and patient with all my questions. Affordable, delicious, authentic, with good portion sizes.
