Went to try the $20 lunch deal that I've seen posts about this on social media. This comes with 7 side dishes along with rice, tofu soup and meat choice. Choice of galbi, bulgogi, spicy pork and bossa for meats. Then either seafood, kimchi, beef or ox bone soup. The side dishes for this special is not refillable but makes sense as its not your usual Korean side dishes. The staff said if you order the regular menu, you can get refills. I was so full after ! Could barely finish all of it. The bulgogi was nicely marinated throughout and perfect texture. My friends bossa was also very meaty and seasoned well too. I love that you get a little taste of what the restaurant can offer. Best part is the deal is available 7 days a week 11am to 4pm ! Hope this deal will stick around. There is plenty of street parking along Kingsway and surrounding streets. On Sundays it would be unlimited time but Monday to Saturday there are spots with 1 or 2 hour parking. I've come to Shilla a few times now, and most times felt quite mediocre. This time around, I ordered the Seolleongtang and my friends and I shared the deep fried shrimp appetizer. The appetizer was okay - can't really go wrong with deep frying something! My soup dish portion was quite small, which I wasn't expecting. I also didn't know that you had to season the broth yourself with salt and pepper on the table. I ended up asking the staff if the soup was supposed to taste like water... After seasoning it, it was okay though. I don't think I will be back to Shilla after having given it a number of tries now. read more

Tried this place again after 3 years and there has been improvement. I made the mistake of ordering the ox soup again and it wasn't flavoured again. Probably should have read my last review. Big portions and great value! Ordered the bulgolgi hotpot and it was delish! The soup at the end was a little bit salty but overall we were happy with the portions of everything and how cozy it was on a cold day. The short ribs combo had a decent amount of pieces but we wish the potatoes had more flavour to them. Good thing we ordered corn cheese so we topped it with that! read more

Shilla is a Korean restaurant located on Kingsway! I had a tasting and I tried many plates that were offered to us. My favourite were the new released kimbap which was loaded with ingredients! Their fried chicken platter was massive and offers a lot of variety of different wings. The vibe setting of the restaurant is a bit old school and worn but I feel that's the charm of it. I came here for my friend's birthday on a Friday night. It was quite packed and I can see why. Their food portions are quite big. A lot of people ordered their chicken platter to share and we did the same. The fried chicken pieces are huge and quite juicy on the inside. It is well worth $57. I would also recommend ordering their galbi. It's super tender and very nicely marinated. It's a great place to have gathering since their portions are big and priced reasonably. Pretty decent Korean place on Kingsway between Fraser and Knight. Parking is available on Kingsway, as well as the side streets. The place is pretty modern and spacious. Dark theme. Staff are friendly and helpful No complaints. Banchan - kimchi, cabbage, pickled turnip, bean sprouts. Beef bulgogi - pretty tasty. Served with cabbage and green onions. Jukkumi samgyupsal bokkeum (spicy stir fried baby octopus and pork belly) - sweet and spicy without too much kick. The above 2 dishes came with bowls of white rice, which helped dilute some of the sauce. Korean fried chicken - tried 2 flavours. Decent, but definitely want to share the portions. My regular at Shilla is their seafood beef broth noodle soup. It is so satisfying with lots and lots of seafood. For those who are not into super beefy soup taste/smell, you would love this soup. It comes with yellow noodles that is both soft and chewy. Whenever I get this to go or have Uber bring it to me, I can literally save half the soup for later. Service is pleasant. read more

The restaurant was open until midnight which was perfect since we arrived in Vancouver around 1030 pm. The tea was fantastic (Hojicha instead of the usual jasmine tea)! The sides were great, especially the fish cake. We ordered their best seller BBQ pork belly which came with cheese corn, kimchi, and lettuce. The pork belly were so tender and great quality. We also ordered seollotang which was perfect for the chilly fall weather. Highly recommend these two dishes and we look forward to our next visit so we can try the other dishes! read more

Came here for our Sunday family meal. Tons of street parking right off Kingsway. Love the ambience. My wife and I opted for the $20 lunch special. I had the Korean OX Bone Soup and Sous Vide Bossam -- OX Bone Soup is very clear, will need to season yourself depending on how you like it. For me, I appreciate that it's a very clear broth. The bossam is very tender and well seasoned. The wife opted for the Seafood Tofu Soup and Beef Bulgogi, which she enjoyed. The Seafood Tofu Soup was quite generous portion, lots of seafood and very tasty broth and tofu. Can't complain about the beef bulgogi. You can't mess that up. The banchan selection is varied and delicious, with something enjoyable in every bite. The chicken cutlet is not your usual one piece cutlet and cut up--it's boneless fried chicken deep fried in panko. Served with rice, and Kimchee, sweet corn, salad, side of sauce. My son loved this and he was full, and the kid can eat. My daughter loves her noods so she got the Seafood Noodle Soup--broth was tasty and flavourful, and lots of seafood. Visited with two friends during their lunch time and we indulged in a delicious meal consisting of a lunch special, fried chicken platter and the bulgogi beef hot pot. Lunch bento - you have a choice of soup and meat (we chose seafood tofu soup and bosom) plus few side dishes and rice. We loved the variety in this lunch bento and the value was well worth it! Fried chicken platter - came with 4 flavours of fried chicken that were juicy, crispy and tender plus french fries, corn and pickles to provide a little bit of a palate break for all the fried goodness. My favourite was the sweet and spicy flavour. Bulgogi hot pot - loads of veggies, beef and other toppings in a boiling pot. Portion is very generous and of great quality and this could definitely serve 3-4 people. Overall, a great place for delicious Korean meal with large portions and good prices. The only place I can get a really good cold noodle dish in Vancouver. A super refreshing dish during the hot summer days. The steamed egg appetizer was a nice add on. I've had the seafood pancake in the past and it is delicious! The music was a bit loud in the restaurant and may take away from trying to have a conversation. The space is good for larger groups. read more

My family got three whole chickens here for takeout--honey garlic, yangyeom, and regular. They were all really good! The chicken pieces were huge, tender, crispy, and juicy. They weren't battered too much. Wonders for a soft mouth! Honey garlic wasn't too sweet--it had the perfect balance. Yangyeom was surprisingly good! Also not too sweet. The regular was of course good. Flavours were on point. My only complaint is they gave us two tiny daikon containers for three whole chicken orders. I don't know if we could have asked for more free of charge, but it was too late by the time we got home. It took around 30 minutes to get our chicken, as to be expected. Luckily the restaurant has a really large waiting area. Very nice and spacious. read more

Been a customer, and dare I say supporter, for many years, even before their renovation. After the renovation, the interior is now much cleaner and more modern feeling. Customer service was not great. Slow on food even though there were only one to two other tables there. I guess there were also take out orders. But they only ever refilled our tea once and would take a while even when we asked. The tea pots were small and the food were salty so we naturally wanted to drink more liquid-- but yeah, one refill only. Honey Garlic Boneless Chicken -- skin was way too thick and not crunchy enough. I had to rip off most of the skin and just ate the inside, granted it was tender and juicy! The honey flavour was awesome, but didn't quite taste the garlic. Corn cheese -- usually a huge fan of corn cheese, but this one was not great. For $10, I was only able to get four bites out of this. It was a super thin layer abs not satisfying at all. Seafood pancake -- had the perfect crisp and was definitely the highlight of all the dishes we got. Generous portion too! Japchae -- have always been a fan of this, but this was a completely missed dish. Way, WAYY too salty. However, still very flavourful and the noodles were nice and stringy. Bibimbap -- nothing special. flavours were there, but something tasted off, even after we mix the sauce in. Overall, not the most pleasant experience and was disappointed. It was 8:30pm and my friend and I wanted a small but quick bite. We ordered the Original Fried Chicken Wings ($18.98) and they were amazingly crispy and came piping hot to the table. So satisfying eating these warm juicy wings and the batter was light. We also shared the Shilla Jajang Noodle ($16.98): black bean sauce with noodles, onions, zucchini, cabbage and pork. I enjoyed the noodle dish but my friend wished the noodles to be on the warmer temperature side. I said hot sauce and cold noodles don't make the dish too warm so not the restaurant's fault - just the nature of the dish. We enjoyed our quick bites and now planning to get a bigger group together so we can try hot pots and other dishes. Great little Korean restaurant in the middle of Vancouver when most are out in Coquitlam. Restaurant was clean and scanned QR code for the menu. EATS: Takoyaki octopus balls based on my research this is a traditional street foods from both Korea and Japan. The balls was decorated with a tempura scrape and shaving of dried bonito (Katsuobushi) that moves like tiny feathers, I like it when you chopstick the balls it feels like you catched a fat butterfly...tasted good though....not the very best but not the worse.I love the ones from night market..... I also got the hotpot bibimbap, I always prepared this kind than the one serves cold, When the rice and other stuff from base of the pot get a bit toasted, it taste more Korean to me....I loved it specially when soy sauce and hot sauce mixed on my bibimbap. I'm sad that Seoul Doogbaegi closed down but in its stead, Shilla Korean Restaurant has taken it's place. It's a few doors down from Sunny's Chinese Food. They've done some major renos and it shows as the place is modern and sleek. The Korean music is upbeat and a touch high on the volume side. Click the call button on the table to get one of the waitresses attention. The menu consists of appetizers, tteok-bokki, noodle, main dishes (tofu soup, off the grill, bibimbap), hot pot, special dishes, fried chicken and drinks. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Friday evening (around 6:30pm) and it was busy. - Banchan - kimchi, bean sprouts, potatoes and pickled radish. Kimchi had a decent kick to it. Bean sprouts were refreshing. Potatoes were soft. Pickled radish were crunchy and light. Nothing out of the ordinary but good enough. - Seafood tofu soup (M4) ($14.95) - it comes with a bowl of rice. There was some squid, shrimp and baby shrimp. The broth was okay but didn't have much depth or complexity to it. It was lacking a kick to it. - Seolleongtang (M9) ($11.95) - first time ordering this and likely the last. The broth was bland. They bring out salt and pepper, which it desperately needed. The beef slices was dry and tough. You don't get much noodles either. A sad, unsatisfying bowl. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 6:00pm). - Banchan - kimchi, bean sprouts and potatoes this time around. We were able to get a second round. - Jaeyook stir-fry (M6) ($16.95) - nothing out of the ordinary but it came with an abundance of cabbage and onion. - Bulgogi jeongol (H5) ($33.95) - their hot pots come with two bowls of rice. The amount of bulgogi (sweet and tender) you get was surprisingly impressive. Broth was flavourful, a touch sweet but well balanced. Tasted as you'd expect bulgogi to be. The glass noodles were satisfying and vegetables included rice cakes, tofu, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, green onions and onions. Perfect for sharing. I'd recommend it if you want a hearty, yet non-spicy soup. The service is fairly quick and pleasant. They give a discount for takeout during quarantine and you can order ahead. read more

There isn't many Korean restaurants in the neighbourhood that are open this late (till 12am), perfect for fried chicken and beer. Jajangmyun (Black bean noodle) Hot Pot Combo $66+ It can feed about 3-4 people easily and its so worth it! It comes with a massive sizzling plate of seafood jajangmyun, teokboeki rice cakes, and sweet and sour pork or boneless fried chicken. The black bean noodles are their specialty so its a must-get item, one of the best I've had in Van. Everything is so saucy and savoury. Delivery review via SkipTheDishes-- First time ordering from them. I only ordered two things but they were pretty good. I ordered the Jajangmyeon noodle and Yangyeom wings. Everything was packaged nicely and it came with some pickled radishes. The black bean sauce was separated from the noodles. I was a little thrown off at how little the noodles looked but I was wrong. The noodles were just enough but they definitely give way more sauce so I actually ordered a side of rice to eat it with the next day. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Had a good chew and bounce to them. I've tried many Jajangmyeon and this had to be the best one I've had. The Yangyeom wings were still crispy and the sauce was evenly coated. Had a good balance between sweet and spicy (but i prefer it a little more spicier). I did notice that the food wasn't hot considering they're only a 10-15 minute drive away. And I ordered quite late (11:45pm) too so no traffic to keep the food waiting but I do appreciate that they're open late. I hope to go in and try some more of their food. So on a slow Friday, we decided to visit Shilla as it looked interesting .. walked in and was met by a young fellow, very polite and explained to use the QR code to access their menu..well structured and categorized .. It took a while to figure what was what as their wait staff were either busy in the back or wanted to get off the floor..there is a button on the table to call the staff.. ordering was very efficient and it was the youngman that regurgitated our order ..we requested low salt as well as spice so we are waiting on the food..there was a thermos of cold water but as since we are typical Asians we preferred tea.. a young lady ran back and forth servicing one table then another table of Korean speaking gentlemen came in.. they received much more attention by that unfortunately is a cultural thing where the emphasis is on the Male..as the young lady was running past our table I attempted to track her attention to zero success.. deaf to my request for tea .. it took 15 minutes for the first items to show.. your typical accompaniments..tofu soup..honey garlic deep fried chicken and the deep fried Mackeral ... the last dish was their Bibimbak .. this one came without the traditional heated clay pot so rather different from all of the other ones that I've ever had..loud music but very few tables occupied.. read more

Take out experience was extremely terrible!!! I waited nearly an hour for 3 dishes and restaurant was only 1/3 full. Beef noodle soup had barely anything inside with few scraps of meat and rest is liquid. Rice was in mushy chunks and carrots, mushrooms, and beef weren't fresh at all. There are a lot of pros for this restaurant. First, spacious dining area with certain tables marked to create more distance. The service was friendly and fairly prompt (though maybe it has something to do with fewer tables to serve). I also liked that they had a separate doorway with a table blocked just for takeouts and delivery pickups. The menu is pretty extensive. I only wish my dining party was slightly larger so I could try more items. We still did pretty good with personal size pork bone soup, beef & tofu soup, deep fried honey garlic chicken and baby octopus & pork belly. All, with exception of the chicken, came with a bowl of rice. I noticed the soup bowls are a tad small even though it's supposed to be personal size. But with all the other dishes we have, nobody left the table hungry. Both the soups had really solid flavours. However, the beef & tofu was a bit too oily for my liking. I enjoyed the chicken and the octopus dishes as they were both my choice. The batter on the chicken wasn't too thick, dark meat was used so super juicy and they didn't skimp on the honey! Lastly, the octopus and pork belly was served on a hot plate. I asked for mild and it had the perfect amount of heat. A good amount of baby octopus and slices of pork belly throughout along with cabbage and onions. They even offer bingsoo (shave ice desserts) but I was too full to try. Hope to come back and try their jajangmyeon hotpot style which is served on a hot plate with seafood mixed in. The prices are slightly higher especially for the soups ($13-15). Not bad! I work in an area that has a lot of Koreans and whenever it was lunch time, the entire classroom would smell smelled amazing! In search of a good Korean restaurant on Skip, I found this place. So far, I've gotten takeout 3x I've ordered their pork cutlet, kitchen fried rice, soy wings, yangyeom wings, corn cheese, jajang noodles, and takoyaki. When I first found this place I ordered their yangyeom wings, jajang noodles and takoyaki. Their yangyeom wings were still crispy and slightly crunchy when it got my place and was covered in flavorful sweet but spicy sauce. The jajang noodles were good, but I prefer it from chuihong in surrey only bc that one had loads of garlic and onions. My dad doesn't like that so he prefers this one. Their takoyaki was small, but nth special. Second time ordering, I ordered both yangyeom wings, soy wings and corn cheese. The corn cheese was nasty . I was expecting it to come in aluminum like the on in the pics on yelp, but I received it in a small white plastic container. It was literally cheese on top and under was dried out corn with sugar, gross!!! Soy wings were delicious and if you had to get me to chose between soy or yangyeom, I'd say get both bc they're both totally different but good. Third time I ordered the pork cutlet and kimchi fried rice. I was craving pork cutlet and ordered this. I'm not a fan of the cutlets sauce and the rice was super hard, gross! But the pork katsu itself was delicious!! It was fried perfect and light and was still crispy when it arrived to my house! I ordered the KKanpoogi today and ended up getting yangnyum chicken when we called the place back that our order was wrong they said no it was the right one. However when we asked them how come the picture looks different from the kkanpoongi online on their website they said no it's correct. I've have kkanpoongi so much in my life to know these people were probably lying or just not wanting to accept their fault on their end. Anyways I don't plan to order there anymore as this is a very upsetting situation. If they make it look like yangnyum chicken they should post the correct picture instead‍. Not a place I recommend and not people of morals. There's no sense of professionalism at all if they can't own up and I've confirmed it in a picture the business owner posted. Friendly waitress. However, the service was extremely slow. We had to wait for at least 20' for our food and banchan even though the restaurant was not at its max capacity and there were at least 3 waitresses working that night. Food was mediocre too. Probably won't be back. read more

Korean BBQ resto along Kingsway and Glen Dr. The food is sooooooo good i kept craving about it the whole time. Try the squid and pork belly and it won't disappoint you. Try the sweet and spicy chicken and you will forget your name. The service is superb!!! read more
