My second review of this restaurant, and the rating has dropped from 5 to 3 stars. I came here on a cold winter day, in December, and it's 4 degrees outside. The interior is just as cold. There's no heat on whatsoever and everyone, even the boss (?) has got their winter jacket on. The woman next to me is currently blowing hot air into her hands. It's definitely not very comfortable and enjoyable eating while wearing bulky jackets. Seriously, is the restaurant just being cheap or something? Maybe their remedy is to have customers drink their hot soups. Not sure if ownership has changed but the food tastes different. The salad used to have a very refreshing dressing and had apples in it. Now, the whole salad is rather generic and the sauce is identical to those salads you find in Japanese all you can eat restaurant. The beef stew from the lunch combo also tasted different. It used to be rather rich and now it's meh. The rice cake in it was not cooked thoroughly as the middle part was still flour-y. I ordered the same food as 3 years ago and upon comparing , the portion has definitely shrunk, noticeably the juicy beef ribs and the black bean noodles. I hadn't taken any pictures because I had thought the food was identical to my previous pictures... Sorry yelpers, i should've taken some as proof. I am quiet disappointed with this place as I used to love their food and came here quite often before. However, this is definitely human cruelty. I'm sitting here shivering while i type this review. Completly unsafe for anyone with allergies. The staff were unhygienic and rude when requested to share ingredients/handle food differently. They set utensils on unclean surfaces, there was visible brown and white grime on most dishes, and I saw a server wipe floors with a paper towel (no gloves) and immediately use the same towel to wipe a table. This is a very popular Korean restaurant needs no introduction. It's a relatively small restaurant so do expect to wait for your table if you have less than 6 in your party as they don't take reservations with less than that number. Go there early before 6:00 pm, you will have a better chance to get a table quickly. We ordered the Kimchi Pancake, Spicy Cabbage & Short Rib soup + Bulgogi Beef BBQ. The two of us were stuffed as the BBQ comes with rice and side dishes. We ended up taking one of the big pieces of short ribs home. Everything was so delicious but I preferred the Seafood Pancake over the Kimchi Pancake as it was a bit soggy. The total bill came to $70 before gratuity - worth every penny. Great casual kbbq place. Can be very busy during dinner hours, so I recommend either calling ahead or expecting to wait a bit. We shared combo A, which comes with 4 different bulgogi: beef bulgogi, beef rib bulgogi, pork bulgogi, and chicken bulgogi. I recently dined at this Korean BBQ restaurant with my family and we were happy with the experience. Their meat is pretty good quality. Our family's favourite were the ribs. The bulgolgi wasn't great because it was a bit tough, even though we were super careful to not overcook it. Japchae was a family favourite as well. The beef in the japchae was surprisingly tender since it's not the star of the show. The grill is a bit small for large tables. The servers were attentive enough but most Korean BBQ restaurants rely on a button for service. They came by to change the grill a couple of times.   Overall the restaurant was a little more expensive than we expected but it's not a huge surprise considering the inflation nowadays. read more

We came on a Saturday for lunch. The restaurant wasn't busy when we showed up at 11:30. Their lunch sets are well priced. We ordered the braised beef ribs and the jajangmyeon set. The juicy pork rib and the soft tofu soup. We also got the bibimbap. We asked if the soft tofu soup came with rice and they confirmed it did but it never came out so I can't confirm if it does. The food came out really fast. It came with 4 side dishes. The lunch sets are definitely on the smaller size but very worth for the price. The braised beef ribs were very sweet and soft. Comes with rice cake, radish and potato. Would order this again. The jajangmyeon tasted like the package kind. Portion was quite big but flavour wise very generic. The juicy pork ribs were not juicy. Again on the sweet side. Could have been cooked for a bit longer so it would be fall off the bone but other than that not bad. Between the juicy pork ribs and the braised beef ribs get the braised beef ribs. The soft tofu soup was definitely on the saltier MSG side but the tofu was really soft and addictive. The bibimbap came with mostly veggies which I liked. The portion and the price were fair for what was provided knowing that bibimbap is pricey out there nowadays. Overall - if you are in the area and looking for a cheap place to get lunch. This is definitely the place. Be advised that 15% tip is automatically added to your bill. Not sure if it was because we had 5 people, but it was automatically added to the bill. Also the service here is really minimal. Decent spot for kbbq in the area. My group of 5 got the beef combo large, beef tartare, corn cheese and seafood tofu soup and it was plenty of food. The meat was pretty good. I especially liked the beef tartare. The corn cheese was watery and tasteless, not really buttery and the cheese was basically nonexistent and didn't melt. Lettuce is extra. The restaurant was pretty busy when we walked in so we waited 30-45 minutes on a Friday evening. Just your classic korean bbq joint on Kingsway. We made a reservation over the phone a few days prior and we are so glad we did because there was a huge wait outside! The service was very prompt with the bell. We enjoyed the side dishes, the set combos and the grilling experience. The seafood pancake was also a highlight. Looks like things have changed over the years. I used to come here years ago. It used to be good simply because it was one of the few Korean barbeque restaurants in town. We stopped coming for quite a few years because we have moved away from the area. We returned to celebrate a family birthday and were pleasantly surprised by the updated decor. We were welcomed promptly and with a reservation, we were seated right away. As I walked towards our table, I checked out other tables and everyone was having KBBQ. Couple that sight with the smoky fragrance, we sensed that we were at the right place. No need to rave much about the bbq because like other comments, they're all good. Lunch specials are affordable, and you can have a set for one person. It is quite crowded during lunch and I had to wait for 5-10 minutes. I forgot it was a BBQ place and the the air inside the restaurant was thick with the sizzling BBQ food smoke. They did not turn on the rangehood which is above every BBQ plate and so be warned. Your hair and clothes will smell after a meal there. I had the beef short ribs with the seafood tofu soup. The set came with 3 banchan which were pretty nice. I like the tofu soup which was not very spicy and went well with rice. The beef was a bit tough (probably overcooked) but it was not too bad. This place is truly the best for Korean BBQ! We've gone here many times and most recently for my husband's birthday. The only issue was the long wait - I didn't plan ahead and did not make reservations so had to wait about 40 minutes. Parking can at times be an issue but we didn't have a problem with finding parking this time - we made an assumption that most people waiting either lived nearby and walked or parked on the streets! We ordered spicy soup and their bbq platter for 4. Their sides are the best - we love their sweet potatoes so much and kimchi, we ended up asking them to refill 5 times! Goodness, it seemed the food ordered wasn't enough but it sure was more than what we needed. Our eyes were certainly bigger than our tummies! Since our bill was quite high, we also had to leave a generous tip but it was a wonderful experience (always has been) and it was Michael's (hubby) birthday and we all had happy and satisfied tummies, so that was not a big deal at all. I was craving cold noodles and learned that Cho Sun had them. I arrived at 11:30am which is when they were opening for lunch and there were already a few people in line ahead of me. They have lunch specials where you can choose 2 items for a discounted price ($13-15) so it's a pretty good deal and yes, cold noodles are on the list! As a Korean myself, the culture for serving and dining at restaurants is really different than Canadian dining culture, so after reading the other reviews on Yelp, I would understand where they are coming from. However, you shouldn't really come expecting great service! Personally, I had a really great experience dining here! I made a reservation on the day of for a party of 12 on a Saturday night and they accommodated for us, despite the LONG line of people that we saw waiting for a table when we arrived. We ordered pretty large party combos for 12 people and it came out to $30-35 dollars per person which is pretty reasonable for Korean barbeque! The service was good, but not great. They have very large dividers between the tables, and a good vibe inside. While I think there should also be pixie glass between tables along the walkway, I think they can leave alternate tables empty during COVID 19. We got BBQ Combo A, as well as seafood tofu soup and seafood pancake. The bbq combo was quite a bit of food. It also comes with rice and side dishes. Overall flavours were good, but nothing really stood out. Service was also standard. Only suggestion is for the restaurant to expand their washroom. We ordered a two-person premium combo to share between the three of us. It was plenty of food and we really appreciated the spread of banchan they provided. In terms of the meats, we enjoyed all the marinated meats. However, we found the pork belly to be a bit boring. I think we should have eaten it earlier in our meal since we got used to the more powerful flavours of the marinated meats. Not a bad place for korean food. Again, it was packed and for a group of 5, we waited about 20 minutes on a Tuesday nights. We ordered a whole bunch of dishes and all were quite good. The bibimbap was tasty with lots of ingredients and the boiled dumplings were nice and light. The soft tofu soup was packed with tofu and was quite flavourful while the seafood pancake was a tad too oily. Their royal rice cakes were the biggest disappointment because the rice cakes were much too hard and the sauce way too sweet. Last, their beef short rib soup was actually very good with some large pieces of short rib and a lot of egg. The soup itself was a little bit salty but the ingredients were good. Chosun is a restaurant that seems to have been around for years. Located in Vancouver along the busy Kingsway corridor, one of the things that we enjoy about this restaurant is that they offer both Korean and Japanese dishes. We dropped by for lunch in mid-September and wound up ordering the Korean Style Set Meal A and the Japanese Style Set Meal B where you pick your main dish and you get a bunch of side dishes (price is based on the main dish). Both of our meals came to $16.95 which was pretty good given how much food was involved. For the Korean Style Set Meal A, we picked beef bulgogi and it came with grilled mackerel, steamed egg roll, 2 kinds of Korean style pancakes, salad, rice cakes, japchae noodles, steamed rice, and soup. For the Japanese Style Set Meal B, we picked unagi and it came with takoyaki, tempura, croquette, rice cakes, salad, steamed rice, and soup. The food gotta be good! We ordered this BBQ combo for 2 people. The marinated BBQ meat was very delicious and nicely seasoned. They were lean with enough fat. The portion was good. There were 4 types of meat: beefx2, pork and chicken. Their Korean appetizers included kimchi were pretty standard. The combo also came with cooked vegetables, green salad, 2 bowls of rice and soup respectively. The smell from BBQ was strong as most of the Korean BBQ places but it wasn't enough to stay in your hair. The waiter and waitress were very efficient which you would appreciate for a busy restaurant. Portions are not as big as its competitors. Their combo are actually more expensive then if you go all the way to Coquitlam for Korean food. So we came here as a group for dinner and we ordered a combo, hotpot and seafood pancake. We came out full. Sides are unlimited here. The quality is ok. I didn't like the hotpot so much because it was very tasteless. I used to come here quite often and now not so much anymore. Parking can be a pain and you would need to park outside. We chose the barbeque Bulgogi combo for 2-3 people and added on the Enoki mushrooms wrapped in a thin layer of beef and rice cake wrapped in bacon. The meat was two types of marinated beef and nice cuts of chicken. We ordered lettuce wraps for an extra $3 and edamame. The side dishes were delicious with two kinds of kimchi. We each had individual sauces that included sesame oil and a savoury satay type sauce and soy sauce. Came here for a weekend lunch and while the place opens at 11:30am, when we arrived at 12, there was already 4 tables in front of us and a full lobby. We didn't intend to get the BBQs since it was lunch so it was good to see that there was a lunch set menu. We opted for the A+B combos for lunch to satisfy our palates. The presentation of the juicy beef ribs was pretty mediocre... it was just pieces of meat on a plate in the shape of a cow but it wasn't as dried as it looked. The braised beef rib was extremely flavourful but you can't really tell what was in the dish since everything is immersed into the sauce. The cold noodle soup hit the spot just right and were a perfect pairing for the braised beef ribs with the hot and cold. The pork bone soup ramen was an extra charge but had a very generous amount of pork bone and ramen noodles. Overall, would definitely say yes to another lunch here and would love to try their KBBQ options as well! read more

Luckily, since it is a weekday, they had lunch specials. I ordered the braised beef ribs and the cold noodle soup. My friend ordered the juicy beef ribs and the cold noodle soup too. After ordering we waited for just over 30 minutes. So we asked when our food would arrive and they said 5 more minutes. We continued to wait and finally the beef ribs arrived. Also, we got two side dishes of pickled radish and a salad. The braised beef ribs were super tender and there was quite a few pieces of meat. It was topped with a rice cake that added a nice chewy element. Our cold noodle soup didn't arrive until about an hour after we ordered. They brought only one out and then 5 mintues later they brought out the next one. The cold noodle soup was kinda disappointing. The pieces of meat were dry and flavourless. The noodles weren't the usual noodles used in cold noodles, or at least comapred to any other ones I've had. It was a lot thinner and just didn't taste the same. I found the cucumbers to be salty, but the broth was alright. My friend really disliked the noodles. She's eaten them here before and said it was different and couldn't finish her bowl. Overall, the wait was just too long for food that was just ok. Maybe we were hangry at this point and impatient, but I don't remember waiting this long for food even when it was busy. Although it was hard to flag down servers, they always answered with a smile. But by the end of the meal, we asked for the bill, but it was taking awhile to get it so we ended up going to the counter to pay. Maybe it was just an off day because it was a holiday. read more

CSKR has been in the same spot for over 20 years. And they just open another joint in downtown Vancouver. As I am not a big Korean food fan, I prefer the more typical style and I feel very comfortable with CS. There are lots of choice in the menu and a couple pages is dinner combo especially cater for 2. It's price is quite reasonable and the portion is good. Service wise so far so good. We were here on a wet Thursday evening and wasn't expected they would be that busy. It was kinda packed and people just keep come & go, the waiting time is just minimal. No wonder they can hang on for that many years.... I'd be there again for sure :p read more
