I previously bookmarked Namsan to try some of their food one day. I walked past by Robson all the way to public market and stopped here since I was very tempted to try it. Great menu if anyone is into pork intestines, pan fried intestines and etc. Plus there were soups to try on the menu. I tried #1 regular pork sausage soup ($13.99) it came piping hot. I had to wait awhile for the food and that was okay. Besides there isn't much staffs around and you're expected to wait awhile for the food. My food came with rice, spicy radish, seaweed, dipping sauce and some chilli peppers. I wish that staff was more helpful, but they were too busy working or talking with others. Otherwise, the food was great. The soup didn't come out as spicy as first. Condiments were included to control spiciness. I don't recommend putting the orange powder which might be a cayenne pepper. Loved my food! It was definitely comforting on a cold winter days. I'd love to try some Soondae (pork blood sausages) on its own or other dishes. My only complaint is the tiny amount of side dish for my food, and it was mostly the seasonings that came with it.

I eat offal mainly because it's nutrient dense and I feel it is a health food. Also Hwasa inspired me on an episode of a korean eating show and I grew to enjoy it also. The first time I landed on the 2nd floor at 2pm for a late lunch of soup, I came back with a friend at 6pm to try the sizzling plate. Their food is that good. Personally, I enjoy soups allot more. I enjoy the quality of the soup base, the cuts of the offal and the sausage here more than South Castle in North Vancouver. Only downside is more cubed radish or even offer a la carte banchan would be a fantastic rounding of a meal. However I understand this restaurant is a one man show, and he kept his quality and consistency very high.

My absolute new favorite place for Korean food! Since our accidental discovery about a month ago, we've tried 7 different dishes. One takeout and 3 visits, we have not been disappointed. This little gem is located on the second floor of robson public market and owned by a Korean family. The dad is the cook and it always felt like an uncle (atsushi in korean) is cooking me food. I.e. a very homey feeling. Their service is friendly and food is delicious. I'm writing this review and thinking about the tofu soup that I just had yesterday. I haven't taken pictures every time but I highly recommend their specialty, the soondae. (I had soondae years ago elsewhere and hated it.) We've tried all the soondae on the menu and all of them were delicious. The stir fried versions have pork intestines wrapped around them while the soup versions have sausage casings. Besides the soondae, the tofu soup and pork bone soup were very comforting food, especially during cold and wet Vancouver days.

Their Gamjatang is so delicious! Will come back for sure!

Love their Gamjatang! So delicious! Big portion, one person couldn't finish it. Will definitely come back when I visit Vancouver next time!

Super solid Korean hole in the wall restaurant at Robson Public Market (2nd floor). We had the Large Kkotury Chulpan (stir fried pork sausages) and Gamjatang (pork bone spicy soup). The large stir fried pork sausages had glass noodles, cabbage, blood sausage, onions, green onion, gojuchang sauce and probably some other sauces, spices. We shared the large between 4 people and it was definitely enough for us. Good portion sizing, good flavor, spicy and a little sweet from the gojuchang. Just be aware it is on the spicier side. The pork bone spicy soup was aamazing. Good blend of all the flavors, not too spicy or as spicy as the stir fried pork sausages. Large pork bone which was very tender. The owner was also really nice and appears to be a family owned business :)

Kkoturi Chulpan! So yum! Ordered more spicy!

It is hidden in a rather dead public market, but definitely a hidden gem. I have always loved soondae (blood sausage) and it's not easy to find restaurants that focus on soondae. I was very excited to discover it and it did not fail to meet expectation. Their soondae is different from the typical ones seen in street stalls in Korea. The vermicelli and pork blood is stuffed in actual pork big intestine instead of the translucent sausage skin commonly used in most sausages. I like the texture of translucent sausage skin usually, but I do appreciate that this is actually harder to make. The broth is really delicious too..... it's rich and has lots of fresh pepper in it. The set comes with some kimchi, rice and a pack of seaweed. It's really tasty!!! Made me so happy!!! There was only one staff who takes order and make the food. It is made to order so it takes maybe about 10 minutes of wait but totally worth it!!

GamJaTang bone soup, very flavorful and filling.

A hidden gem, NamSan serves traditional Korean food at reasonable price. They specialize in soondae, blood sausage, made on site. If you are too squeamish, you can always have their excellent bone soup, or other Korean dishes. You won't be disappointed, nor hungry, after eating here.

Korean guy at the front waves at us, asks how many people, and directs us to a seat. Then another Korean guy comes over and scolds us, telling us to next time please wait at the front until being seated. Clearly they have some organizational issues here and not a great start to this visit. We place our order. Food for 2 of our 4 arrive about 10 mins later. The food for the other 2 people arrive another 20 mins later. Meanwhile the food for the first 2 ppl just sit there. Thankfully they were in clay pots so it was still warm at least, but this is ridiculous. There is no reason for this. If you're slow to get food out, fine, but bring it all out at once. The restaurant itself is huge, looks like a lounge and bar but mostly empty. The staff are all dressed differently too in street clothes so its hard to tell who works there. They are clearly struggling with understaffing. We had a caucasian waitress who came by to deliver food. She was very nice and friendly. About the food. We ordered: kimchi soondubu - asked for extra spicy, it was barely spicy. beef/seafood mixed soondubu - asked for spicy, it was straight up not spicy. The broth base was the same for each, and lacked depth of flavour. The tofu itself was pretty good, silky smooth, but tofu takes on the flavours of whatever it's cooked with and in this case, not much... The beef in these was just ok and there wasnt much of it. The seafood in the mixed one amounted to 1 clam and 1 shrimp shell-on. There was nothing else in it. 2/5 for both of these. Gamjatang - medium sized portion, good for 2, maybe 3 people. Meat was ok, broth was not bad. Solid average. 3/5. banchan served with the meals were the biggest disappointment. 2/5. This might be the most disappointing banchan ive had in a Korean restaurant in a long time. They served regular cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and bean sprouts. thats it. None of them were particularly good (not bad, just nothing great). And for a party of 4, they served a single portion of each banchan for the whole table. We had to ask for refills 3 more times. You have 4 diners, all with food that comes with Banchan normally. Wouldnt it be reasonable to bring out 4 portions of banchan right off the bat? Especially when you're understaffed? Overall: Main dishes 2.5/5. Banchan 2/5 for overall selection and quality. Service 2/5 - really comes down to severe understaffing and really poor management of how the kitchen is run. The staff there do their best but they need help. Venue 3/5. Overall, 2 to 2.5/5. This place might be the worst Korean place on the Robson strip of all the ones Ive been to. That's saying a lot, since Vancouver doesnt have amazing Korean food to begin with, and this is one of the worst of the bunch.

They answered all my questions and offered recommendations, and were very welcoming. Nam San seems to be very popular for their Soondae (blood sausage). However, I've never really tried Soondae before and I was feeling nauseous on the day of my visit--so I opted for something more mild and less "adventurous" instead. I will definitely be back to try their Soondae next time though. Daeji Gukbap 10/10 This boiled bowl of stew was exactly what my upset tummy needed. The creamy broth warmed me right up and soothed my stomach so well. It was the only thing I was able to keep down in two days. There was also a generous amount of tender and flavourful pork inside. This bowl of stew honestly reminded me so much of the one we tried in Busan. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes stews. There was no gaminess at all, and yet the soup was still so full of flavour. Absolutely delicious. So this place now operates under the name Nam San but is still an absolute gem. One of the three…read moreremaining stalls in the Robson Public Market food court, Nam San specializes in pork offal and homemade Korean blood sausage (soondae), incorporated into a variety of dishes. I always order the same thing, a mixed pork offal and soondae soup. You can choose the spiciness level when you order but they also offer red pepper flakes and fish sauce on the side to add to taste. It comes in small and large, with a side of pickled radish, roasted seaweed, and white rice. Even with the small, you get a lot of meat in the hot stone bowl and it is so comforting. The offal is super tender but the star here is definitely the soondae. Pork blood and vermicelli with spices are encased in an intestine casing, making for a unique springy texture. It's even more tasty when you dip into their homemade fish sauce and the stew warms you to the bone. I love supporting small mom and pop shops, and with how tucked away this place is on the busy Robson strip, I'll definitely make an effort to frequent them time and time again. Please pay them a visit and try their unique offerings out!
