My girlfriend discovered this place in downtown the other day and she's been WANTING to give it a try! We made our way here today with such beatiful sunshine on Davie street, perfect combo! The interior looks very clean as the sun shines thru the windows, which also amplifies the minimalistical vibe inside. We ordered the KFC rice bowl without knowing how it looks like, then we were blown away when it arrives. The sauce on top of the chicken, pink pickled onions, along with the colorful coleslaw, it sure was a spring looking dish! We really enjoyed the crunchiness of the chicken, it was juicy and flavorful. As you dig deeper into the rice on the bottom, you will notice how it was mixed with more sauces (I believe it was mayo and somemore), each bite was truly a different experience. Half way into devouring the bowl, we noticed the sauces were making it too greasy, so glad that we saved some onions to wash our mouths with. Overall, we enjoyed the experience here. Since most bowls have mayo mixed in them, if you were to order your own bowl rather than sharing one like we do usually do, note that it can get very greasy and you will need to wash it off somehow.

    A demolished delicious bulgogi bowl

Let's just say the picture sums up the taste! Really good flavors in every bite. I ordered the bulgogi bowl and every ingredient adds to this delicious bowl. Make sure to mix your bowl up brings it from a 7.5 to a 9!

    Custom Tofu & Cauliflower Bowl

So I had slightly inaccurate expectations... I did a custom tofu and cauliflower bowl, and when I saw tofu and cauliflower and all these veggie toppings and I was thinking I was going to get a healthy veggie rice bowl. Not really the case. It's deep fried tofu and cauliflower bites with sweet and mayo-based sauces, so while not void of nutritional value, not exactly health food either. Once I adjusted my expectations though, I have to say my bowl was amazing. The tofu and cauliflower were crispy and chewy and the sauces (I got plum mayo and sweet chili) were really tasty. There was a good serving of the protein and toppings compared to the rice. I left full. Fyi they cannot do half and half bases - I tried asking for half rice and half greens and they suggested I just get rice and get greens as one of my toppings, but I declined since I was interested in other toppings. I really enjoyed the almond milk tea too. It's made with earl grey but reminded me a lot of Thai iced tea (very sweet). The staff was very nice. When I arrived around 7 it was totally empty but they were working on some takeout orders, and then it suddenly got packed. It was about a 10 minute wait to get my food, which isn't bad. I would go back, though I'd get the mixed greens as the base next time instead of the rice to be more balanced since the battered tofu/cauli is in itself enough carb for one sitting. I was disappointed that they put a lid on my bowl even though I told them I was eating in, so I'd also be very specific next time saying that I don't need or want a lid, although I'm not sure if it would make a difference since the kitchen probably more or less runs on autopilot packing orders.

Korean Fried Chicken with Fries with Garlic Mayo (Regular Size - $15)

I'm a fan of Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) and have heard about Disco Cheetah through Instagram because of the delicious pictures I would see of their food. If not for that, I would never have known that's what a place called Disco Cheetah would serve. They have a food truck that was successful and opened this Davie St location as a result. I got the Regular Sized KFC with Fries and Garlic Mayo Sauce. I asked what the size difference between Regular and Large was and the staff said its the same portion size, just large had more protein. When I got my Regular Size, it was already so big for me with a lot of chicken pieces so don't know how much more filing large would've been! For $15, certainly a good deal. Taste wise, the chicken was crispy without being dry so good texture and the garlic mayo sauce went really well with the chicken and the fries. I wish they gave more sauce because the fries needed the extra flavor. It may have been too much fried food in 1 so next time I would get the combo with Rice instead of Fries, you know, to be healthier. Overall, quick food to go, crunchy korean fried chicken that didn't disappoint, and good value.

Disco Cheetah, I've missed you so badly! I was browsing places to have lunch after class last Saturday. Couldn't make up my mind on where to go. I actually walked awhile from Howe all the way to Davie to find Disco Cheetah. It WAS worth the trip! As usual I wasn't sure to get my favourite item or to try something new. After all the browsing and debating I picked Fried Chicken Bite ($10.99) it tasted amazing! The meats weren't too greasy. It was crunchy and juicy. Loves the freshness of chicken in my food. They were all boneless thighs that came about 6-8 big pieces. Sweet Chili sauce was good. It reminded me of the dipping sauce for rice cake skewers (Dduk Kko Chi) I used to like as a kid. Picked radish was good. I think cubed radish pickle would've been crunchier to eat than having pickles in silvered cut. Aside from that my food was amazing. I cannot wait to go here again!

If you are fried chicken lovers, you will surely enjoy their KFC! Korean-style fried chicken is known for their amazingly crunchy but not greasy skin. Usually they are smaller in size but big on flavour and texture. They really excelled at the art of making fried chicken, nicely seasoned protein, fried to perfection with a super crunchy shell, but still maintaining moisture inside, with a super crunchy shell. We love their boldness in not skimping on portion size. This sampler box can easily feed a family of 4. Their vast choice of dipping sauces are impressive as well as tasty. You can choose from vegan plum mayo, garlic mayo, sweet chili glaze, chili mayo or chili chili. Along with the signature fries which are properly made, crisp, seasoned properly and the use of some chili powder really kicked it up a notch; their boneless kfc bites, which are easily for kids to eat, their newest additions of fried chicken thighs & drumsticks will sure to delight the fans and convert any fried chicken skeptics. The korean fried chicken rice bowl is a complete meal, with nutty red rice, crisp salad greens and refreshing garnishes, pickled ginger, earthy edamame beans, and fresh corn. Ask for extra sauce to create the ultimate meal.

Felt like something "healthy" and craving chicken. Came up with Disco Cheetah KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) salad bowl. Chicken has a light crunch and juicy. Nice colors for the salad with corn, edamame beans and red cabbage. With the almond butter dressing, gave some nice flavors for the salad.

Loved this place. I was craving fried chicken and fries and it totally hit the spot. Chicken was flavoured well and crispiness was good. Fries were crispy and the sauces drizzled on the chicken and fry bowl were perfect. Portions are generous, there was no way I could finish it all so I just grabbed a lid and finished at home. Service was friendly and efficient. I'm not super close to Davie Street so it's not a place that I'll likely frequent (although I think they do delivery through certain apps-not sure how soggy fries and chicken would be if ordered to go). But I would go back! Value for what you get was fair! FYI fries aren't like fancy (they taste like the ones from Costco, which I like!) but they know how to cook them which matters the most.

When my friend told me about this place, I had an assumption that they only do deep fried chicken nuggets And fries, which wasn't really appealing to me. When we got there I was glad to see they also have a variety of selection on their menu. It's located on Davie Street, and street pay parking is available. We went there on a Saturday during lunch hours, and the restaurant wasn't very busy. It's an open concept with open windows to the sidewalk and open kitchen, making this place very cozy and down to earth. Their menu includes fries, salad bowls and rice bowls. You can add protein to each option and there's also combo available. I didn't know they had Baos too until we got to the counter. The deep fried chicken was nicely done and very tender, Salas is fresh and best yet, they have almond butter dressing! My friend ordered the Seoul Pulled Pork fries which was very tasty, and the pulled pork was not dry at all. I'm pleased with my lunch, it was priced at a reasonable price range and I'm so happy I got to try it!

Bulgogi beef rice bowl (with 3 extra portions of meat), and a bulgogi beef bao
    Ania D.

Ordered takeout from here for the first time the other day ! Ordered a bulgogi beef rice bowl with garlic mayo (duh, garlic everything) and *if I recall correctly* vegan plum mayo (because you have to choose 2), as well as a bulgogi beef bao. I sort of messed up because I had intended to order 3 bowls, but instead ordered 3 portions of extra meat into one bowl Anyways, I must say that I really enjoyed the flavours!! As with most Korean meals, it felt well balanced (I believe pretty much all the food groups were included in the bowl). THEY HAD KOREAN PURPLE RICE...I LOVE KOREAN PURPLE RICE (and haven't really found many restaurants that serve it in Vancouver). I think my biggest qualms had to do 1) with the texture of the beef; I found that it was quite tough / perhaps not the best quality, and 2) my rice came quite soggy / mushy, which was a bit disappointing. I'm hoping the rice issue is just due to the fact that I got it delivered, and am hoping that if I go on person I won't experience the same issue. As for the meat, I will also have to go back to see whether it was a one-off thing, or whether it's a recurring theme. The bao was yummy too in terms of flavours ! I like how they added some sour pickles which help cut through the heavier bread/meat. But same issue in terms of beef quality, and I also feel like they could've either made the bao portion of it smaller and/or filled it quite a bit more. Overall though, the flavours were great, and the meal was filling! Might edit my review after going in person (and to see the ratio of meat they give if you don't order 3 orders of beef haha)

Before moving to Vancouver, I had heard so much about this place that I honestly wondered if the place can live UpTo the expectations and the buildup - it does and more. Their portions are amazing. I am not a tofu person but their Tofu rice bowl is finger licking good. There is not just rice but also edamame beans, pickled cabbage, greens and corn in it. I had also ordered their friend chicken and even that was delicious and super crispy. I would absolutely recommend checking out this place's tofu rice bowl if you are even in Vancouver

I was in Vancouver for business and had the pleasure of eating here several times!! This food is so good that I had to fire up my Yelp App and post on Yelp FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!! This is the best Korean fried chicken and fries I've ever had in my life. They have special sauces for your fries! Ask for the sauce on the side. It was so good. I recommended this to all the nurses in the surgical unit where I was contracted for business! They all loved it. Alas, I have since returned home but every so often I reflect on the best culinary experience I've ever had. Please come to S. Florida ! If not, I'm eyeing flights to Vancouver for a quick trip.

korean fried chicken rice bowl and fried whole chicken wings
    Leeza N.

I've been a huge fan of Disco Cheetah when they were running on the truck so I'm so glad they have a store on Davie now! They were only doing takeout due to COVID so we decided to get the korean fried chicken rice bowl and some whole wings. The rice bowl came with purple rice, picked cabbage, corn, edamame and some baby spring mix! For the sauces, we picked their garlic mayo and their plum menu. Both the chicken was so juicy and crispy, the batter on the chicken held up so well and tasted so good with the sauce. The team behind Disco Cheetah are always so so sweet and the flavours and quality of the food is already the best but they just keep on getting better and better!
