There seems to always be a line out the door for this place, even on an early weekday but we were lucky they pulled us to a two seater after not too long a wait. Browsing the menu we watched the huge portions being delivered to nearby tables. We decided to share the Farmers Benedict. It was just right for the two of us (we did totally scrape our plates!) this one came with fried chicken, the sugar cured bacon, ham, cheddar and two perfectly poached eggs over a homemade biscuit and slathered with hollandaise sauce, with hash browns on the side. Huevos rancheros and I forgot the other name. Came here and there was a line up for 30 mins on a Friday. If it was any longer I would probably say not as worth it if you're hungry because even after we put in the order it still takes them some time to make it too. Small restaurant with close together seating but it is well lit and smells delicious. Service was fast and they came and got our order and served water pretty well. 1st review of 2026! I ordered the French toast with fresh strawberries added for 5 CAD. It was just okay, with the bread being too soggy, like it needed a little bit more time on the griddle. I did end up finishing the whole portion though! My boyfriend ordered the veggie bowl and added avocado. He was pretty satisfied by this meal. The portion was HUGE and he wasn't able to finish about half of it. Definitely recommend sharing if you get a bowl! We waited in line for about 40 minutes to be seated on a Friday around noon. The servers were kind but they didn't come around that often to refill our coffee so we had to flag them down. Wow! First of all: yes the wait is worth it. We waited in line for 50 minutes even though we arrived at 09:50. We were hesitant, but decided to stay given the good reviews. This place was very near our hotel, and since the Yelp ratings were so good, we decided to give it a shot. We thought the food was good, but not great. My wife had the Tater Bowl, while I had the Blackstone Benedict. My wife did have the coffee as well, and she really liked it. We got there around 9:30AM or so. We attempted to go here yesterday when we were looking for breakfast spots, because they were close and had decent reviews. When we arrived the line was SO long that we changed our minds. We did decide we would try again the next day because clearly it must be worth it. So this morning we got there before they opened at 8am and the line had already begun. So, even though we were sat before the majority of the people behind us, the got service, food, and drinks first. Kind of a bummer. After we did get service it was still slow. They were kind when they were at the table, but just slow. The decor was kind of all over the place. Not to say it wasn't cute and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it was just random. My husband nailed it when he said they must be going for items you'd see in an old garage. Now for the food. We had high expectations. If people are willing to wait in a line down the street, they must be amazing. I'd have to say I wasn't all that impressed. The food looks beautiful, but the taste factor just wasn't there. My husband got the salmon Benedict and he said the salmon overpowered the whole dish and really muted any other flavors. I got the French toast sticks - they were slightly disappointing. The sticks themselves were very large, so too big to jus pick up and eat without getting the all over, but they are served on a tiny plate with no room to take the out of the basket they come in and use a knife and fork to eat them. I went with the savory stack. This is two huge cheddar and green onion pancakes, with candied bacon, two sunny side eggs, jalapeño spread, and pickled onions. The food was fine, but we had a terrible experience. The lady manager ("Marfaul" ?) was horrible even during Christmas, and she shouldn't be in the restaurant or service industry. When I told her we would like to change seat due to cold near entrance, and I already feel sick, she would tell me "Then you should not be here/ outside" When we see table open and ask if could make the switch, she would ask, "oh I have your food, you want your food cold?" When switch the table, she would also threaten us "either you take this table, or you get nothing" and sounds not like she was trying to be helpful; it was just her way of treating her customers. Finally made it to this Jam Cafe location and so glad we did. I remember how popular the Jam Cafe in Victoria was, so planned to be in line prior to the 8 am opening. And that was the right call as got there at 7:50 and we were 20th in line but in for the first seating. Opted for the Blackstone Benny with coffee. The taste and presentation were spot on and the coffee was good and refilled by the staff. The service was great and we left very full and satisfied. Very cute and quaint cafe near BC Place. We decided to stop by for a late lunch/brunch around 1pm and there was still a line waiting outside. Definitely not the best place to go with a large group. Tables of 2 were able to be seated quicker than 4+. Inside was holiday decorated for the season and they were playing Taylor Swift music since she was in town that weekend. The host, servers, and food runners were all very friendly. We ordered a holiday drink that I really enjoyed. It had Kahlua, orange liqueur and hot chocolate. Might be my new holiday drink. Food was great! On a weekday holiday morning about 9ish, the line was maybe 18-20 people long, including 6 groups of 2 ahead of us. We were not fixated on eating here, although I was happily surprised to find it within walking distance of our vacation rental, because it popped up on my radar while researching Vancouver. Our visit was on Saturday August 2, 2025 at approximately 11:30am I fully understand restaurant hostess staff have to maintain order but there is a fine line between maintaining order and being rude. I also take into consideration that the perceived popularity of a restaurant is in direct correlation with the amount of attitude one receives from the staff. Having said all of that Jam isn't all that, the hostess is rude and honestly if we hadn't made a special trip to the island from Vancouver, walked up a hill to the restaurant I/we would have left after the first interaction with said hostess. The food is at best average and typical diner food but I suppose the hype has taken hold and this place is currently popular. Our clearest way in our opinion to sending a signal of the poor hospitality is a zero tip which is what we did. So, if you're looking for a ton of attitude, average food and poor hospitality then Jam is your place. read more

I got the later tater hash with chicken one time and pork another. The pork in my opinion is def more flavorful than the chicken but both good and filling. If you are into Paloma's they make a great Paloma. I also tried the lavender lemonade mimosa but it was just okay personally. Now let me get to why they went from 5 star to a 2 service. The second time I came to visit before heading back, I was alone. At first I discretely told the server just so you know there is a mouse that's going between tables and under feet to not ruin business. She says okay we will take care of it and I'll get my manager while thanking me. Then the manager comes over and says basically with the doors open constantly, thats just how it is. I tried to ignore it but how can you dine when this is your view and everyone is okay with it?
