Tasty!! We just got off of a cruise and were looking for somewhere close for breakfast and stumbled across this place near our hotel. We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook. read more

Second time here, and while the food is very good, the fantastic service is what stands out the most. But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. We stopped here on our way to Whistler. A small breakfast and lunch spot originally started as a food truck. My son and I opted for their original chicken and waffle breakfast. This is the dish that made them famous and didn't disappoint. Service is great and the food comes out quickly. Just a plain Jane interior with a small outdoor patio. A great spot for breakfast or lunch if you're into good food without a fancy ambiance. The prices are very reasonable for a downtown Vancouver restaurant where rents are extremely high. read more

Can we be honest: Dijon mustard doesn't go on Eggs Benedict in any situation. The place was small, but bright and I got seated quickly. The bathrooms were clean. I came here with my friend to have breakfast. I haven't been to Yolks in a long time. I remembered the last time I was there was at least 6 or 7 years ago and it was not this location. I ordered the duck confit egg benedict. The duck was a bit dry but it had a really good flavor to it. It came with a side. I picked the salad with truffle sauce. Service was good. I think next time I come I will just get my usual the smoked salmon egg benedict. The store is quite spacious and I was surprised that when we came there were many tables available. We were here for the Taylor Swift Eras tour, and Yolks fully embraced the Swifties! They were playing Taylor Swift music, and the server had friendship bracelets on and was so friendly. It was a 20-minute wait, and they let us know that they keep seatings to 45 minutes. I feel like that is a bit rushed, but the menu looked so good that we tried it out. Once seated, we ordered Expresso martinis, grilled cheese, and the mushroom bennie. For me, the Bennie had too much sauce on it, but I was sharing, so I didn't ask for it on the side like I usually do. The mushrooms and spinach were delicious. The egg was also not perfectly poached. The grilled cheese was buttery and cheesy. The tomato soup was creamy and perfect for dipping the grilled cheese into. Great brunch place but needs work on some aspects. Do try to get there early otherwise there is quite a long waiting queue to get a table around lunch time on the weekend. Quite many options on the menu. My salmon eggs benedict where quite good and it was ni e to have the option notbto get tater tots. My side salad was good especially with the truffle sauce. Service was a bit hectic. The waiter made a mistake and I got the wrong side the first time so the plate had to go back to the kitchen. Food was a bit cold when it got back. The matcha latte I ordered was quite weak. Probably better to order a juice or smoothies instead. Also there was a mistake on the bill so again needed more time to fix that. New breakfasts are never cheap but they can range from good to great and I'd say this place is a fun visit for a treat with friends. Yolks has good recipes and you can escape with something decent for under $20. Stopped by on our trip to Vancouver. We went before noon and it was busy so we had to wait about 20 mins but it was all worth it! I ordered the special, the Beast Benny, which included bacon, egg, avocado, spinach and tomato on an English muffin and all topped with hollandaise sauce. It came with a side of perfectly crisped tater tots and a couple slices of fruit. It was divine. The tater tots were probably some of the best tots I've ever had. I finished that off with an oat iced latte - which was quite smooth, I might add! I was even able to get a to-go cup for the rest of my coffee when we left. I discovered this place a couple weeks ago and it will be a regular stop from now on. The eggs benny are incredible with a hollandaise sauce that has great flavour without overpowering the rest of the meal. I did take-out through Uber eats. I am not sure i want to do that again after this experience. My food was a bit cold when it got delivered. They put the food in paper bags. Not even a container. No cutlery nor napkins are found in the bag. This needs to change. I ordered the egg sandwich with smoked bacon and paid extra for truffle potatoes. Both were cold and soggy. The bread was soggy, and the potatoes weren't great. I expect better for how much it is. The portion of potatoes was on the scarce side, and I am very disappointed. I was expecting better. This is my favourite Yolks. I'll tell you why. The one on Broadway is a disaster because of food and service. The one on E. Hastings....well....it's E. Hastings. Environment Matters! The one on Davie. Stunningly bright. Smart floor plan. Modern Set up. Impressively clean and the location.....well the location can't get any better than that. Have you ever flown first class? Well....imagine this...you board the plane and the first cabin....is...well...First Class and you see big, bright and excited faces and smiles from the crew literally seating you. If you're in Economy....you keep walking through the doors and into Economy and that's when the smiles are slightly more tired. You get my drift. With Yolks Davie. The service if First Class all the way. The menu. Great selections and Make Your Own Breakfast which I loved. I got the Florentine Benny. The taste and flavour was all there. It just wasn't hot, barely warm. The Egg. Potatoes were both cold. It was the same with the Make Your Own Breakfast. It had cooled off before it was served. We were in Vancouver on vacation from California recently and popped in for breakfast since our hotel was nearby and loved it! Our server was great, the food was great, reasonably priced compared to similar plates we would've ordered in the US, and overall experience was wonderful. We would definitely come back here and highly recommend Yolks. We both got the "Make it Your Own" breakfast. I picked the butter and chives scrambled eggs, sourdough toast and English bangers. Hubby picked the poached eggs, sourdough toast and maple smoked ham. For our sides, Hubby picked fresh fruit and I picked salad with their truffle-lemon dressing. Well. We've been needing a new breakfast place in the West End. There's only a handful of choices so everyone has been waiting for this to open for quite some time now. If I'm honest, it was just ok. Not bad or anything, but pretty underwhelming for the price point. The restaurant was beautiful inside, even if the corner a bit yucky outside. i have been patiently waiting for the opening of the newest yolks location on davie since it was first announced back in march. we made a point of coming here on their grand opening to support small businesses and even entertained the notion of waking up at an ungodly hour to get there in time for when the doors opened at 8:00 am. the first ten people would receive a $25 gift card and the highly coveted yolk's tote bag. alas, sleep and a costco run took precedence. nearby street parking is available. we showed up just before 2:00 pm and the place was almost empty, save for a handful of patrons. at the other two locations, i am used to lining up and putting our names on a waitlist. this location is situated at the corner of davie and burrard, the td building, where mucho burrito used to be, and appears to be their biggest restaurant. we were greeted and given a choice of where to sit. yolks has come a long way from their humbled beginnings with their little blue trailer, serving three signature food items. the venue is bright and windows were decorated with 2d christmas characters with lights. there's a bar, booths, high tables and standard seating. the menu looked to be similar to the other locations and we were served a complimentary beignet with caramel dipping sauce. it was warm, dense, and had a light dusting of icing sugar. we haven't been to yolks since covid and like their east hastings street location for the ambience and vibe. i ordered the fresh watermelon juice, grilled portobello mushroom eggs benny with truffle lemon potatoes for an additional $1. their famous house made spicy ketchup was smokey and complimented the soggy potatoes. my partner had the yolks smash burger with the truffle lemon potatoes and said it was bland. i forgot to ask and wonder if they still offer half orders of the eggs benny. service was friendly and they were eager to help. the eggs benny were ordered as soft and runny, and when pierced, the yolk was a deep yellow as it slowly oozed onto the plate. the potatoes were greasy, and lacked the crispness and seasoning. overall, we were disappointed with this visit and chalk it up to grand opening issues. yolks used to be one of my favourite go to brunch spot. read more

Well decorated breakfast spot located on Davie St in Vancouver. I came in on Labor Day and it was fairly busy, I'm assuming due to everyone having the day off. I was dining party of one, and took around 10 minutes to get a table. Hostess was very kind, once seated the tables were very close together which was a bit uncomfortable. You could hear everyone's conversation practically touch each other's elbows. I would recommend spreading out tables just a little bit more to provide some sort of privacy. My waiter was very kind, ordered a strawberry mimosa and the ham Benedict. The mimosa was tasty, the Benedict's were just okay. Lacked flavor.
