My friend and I come here often for drinks and snacks in the afternoon, but I haven't left a review in a while.... We had several cocktails but the only one that I remembered to take a photo of was for their Chocolate Orange Fogata ($21) which was really quite excellent! It was not too sweet and quite boozy, a lovely drink. We also shared the charcuterie & cheese platter which was also good. We love coming here because the service is always professional and excellent, and the ambience is lively but classy (there was live music)!
What a beautiful experience to try the Afternoon Tea - Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. We came for their Halloween theme and they really go all out! Start in back where a bookshelf turns into a hidden speakeasy. The decorations are spooky but beautiful. We had 3 guests, one with allergies. A will note, they messed up 3 times so BE DILIGENT. Even when they confirmed that they had it correct, double check. The food was good and there were so many things! Expect leftovers. The tea selection also has a spooky theme which ties the whole event together. Cost is $75 per person. It is about the experience. Service was attentive!
Indulging in the festive flavours of Lunar New Year with a special afternoon tea at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver's Notch8. From savory bites to sweet treats, it's a delicious way to celebrate! As we entered Notch8 was were guided by a staff to the back area towards a bookshelf door to enter a speakeasy style and greeted by the beautiful decor to celebrate Lunar New Year. We both enjoyed Gold Mountain tea with a unique of jasmine and earl grey. The menu: Scones: classic buttermilk and scallion (we both preferred the scallion as it was savoury yet sweet) Savoury: Gravlax cured in char siu sauce, roasted duck tart, jammy tea egg, curry puff and shrimp toast Sweets: walnut cookie, brulee egg tart, mango & coconut cake, five-spice chocolate cake and lychee almond tart Marilou took care of us and can't wait to see her again! There is still time to try this special afternoon tea until February 25, 2025.
We stopped in for a drink, appetizer and to enjoy their live music in the lounge. I was Wow'd; the place is gorgeous. The appetizer we had was similar to a deep fried polenta ball with a mushroom cream center, fresh Parmesan shavings and a bath of marinara sauce. My wife had a glass of the house red and she said it was great (which is unusual because we are from one of the best wine regions outside of Europe). I don't drink, but they serve some delicious tap water, our server brought us some tasty complimentary wasabi peas and beer nuts. The live music and everything here was fantastic! I highly recommend giving this place a shot!!!
The Notch8 Restaurant & Bar - Fairmont Hotel, Vancouver Absolutely outstanding -- highly recommend! JF ( Jean-François ) is an outstanding bartender -- be sure to request him! His service, attention to detail, and energy take the experience to another level. I had a glass of red wine (not listed on the menu and they won't share the name ) -- but it was incredibly smooth and delicious. My husband enjoyed a perfectly balanced Old-Fashioned served with a gigantic brick of ice -- beautifully done! They even serve snack nuts if you're not ordering food , such a thoughtful touch. The atmosphere is elegant yet buzzing -- live music , happy vibes , and the kind of place where you just want to stay longer. We can't wait to go back! One suggestion: if they added goat cheese-stuffed olives to their martinis, they'd be 10 steps above the competition!
We stayed at the Vancouver this time during our little getaway. It was very rainy and cold, so we decided to have our anniversary dinner at the hotel. With the ratings on Yelp, I did not have too high of an expectation, but we were so happy with our food and the overall experience. I ordered the chicken schnitzel dish, and my husband got the pork chop dish with mushroom and pawns. Both dishes were very good portion and delicious, especially the pork chop dish. We've never had a pork chop dish with morel mushroom and prawns together. The flavors definitely matched and complimented each other. The service was also very good and they gave a slice of happy anniversary chocolate cake. We finished our meal with a cup of cream sherry. It was a good anniversary dinner. I recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
Come here for the beautiful decor and setting for an elegant high tea experience. It's located inside the Fairmont Hotel behind a secret bookcase that opens into the tea room down a flight of stairs. It's gorgeously decorated in different shade of pink florals cherry blossom theme. The tea sandwiches and desserts were not the highlight for us but the tea room and experience was fun nevertheless. Our selection of teas were delicious as well. I would recommend this for an Instagram and relaxing afternoon catching up with friends. Wouldn't have high expectations for the food though as it did not wow us at all.
We recently visited for afternoon tea and had a very nice experience. Upon arrival, I loved the speakeasy style door and the autumnal decor. The room was dim, but each table had a sconce for some extra lighting. I really enjoyed the way the tea menu all tied into the autumn theme. Our server did a very nice job explaining what everything was. My one complaint is he did not bring a timer for the tea or give suggestions on brewing time. Everything we had was delicious. We even got a to go box at our server's suggestion to take home the desserts we couldn't finish. I also appreciated that our server offered to take our picture when the food arrived. This was the third Fairmont afternoon tea we've tried, and as usual it was a lovely time. I'd certainly recommend this.
Bravo, Notch8, for transporting us to a winter chalet themed afternoon tea! They really make this an experience to remember as you enter a tucked room in the back away from the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive. She brought my daughter a few additional pinwheels that she enjoyed. It's a typical afternoon tea service with a variety of teas to choose from and includes a nice tray of savory and sweet treats. I treated myself to a glass of bubbly to round out a lovely afternoon.
Located inside Vancouver Fairmont Hotel. The vibe is trendy, relaxing and dim lighting. They have an excellent breakfast buffet on the weekends. For Lunch you can order a la carte or usually a set menu for $35 (appee, entree and dessert). My favorite items here are the prime rib rye sandwich or the turkey bacon sandwich. Easy to bring clients here for meetings as well.
Went for afternoon high tea with the Autumn/thanksgiving theme with my sister and mom and had the most lovely experience! They were so accommodating with our nut allergy and did swaps for savoury items, and our waitress was so attentive and kind. My mom was overjoyed at the experience and the beautiful decor. It was $75/pp and I can't wait to go back for spring!
I have to say, I was seriously impressed with this Sakura-themed high tea Came here for a birthday treat thanks to a friend, and it ended up being such a great experience from start to finish. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the food? So much of it. We actually had to take some home, which almost never happens with high tea. The pastries and sandwiches were not only beautifully presented, but also creative and well-executed--nothing felt like filler. You can tell there was real thought put into the menu. The space itself is elegant and charming, making it perfect for a pre-spring outing, a catch-up with friends, or a low-key celebration. Would I come back? Absolutely--especially for a themed menu like this. read more

We stayed at the hotel and had free breakfast and some dining credits. This review will cover food quality and service without considering the price since the meals were included. Service - 9/10. Everyone we interacted was very kind and helpful. We especially enjoyed our time with the bartender who was attentive to our needs. Smoked salmon bagel -- 9/10. This was really good and fulfilling. The smoked salmon tasted fresh. Avocado toast -- 9/10. Solid avocado toast which paired nicely with the salad and poached egg. I ordered some bacon on the side for some additional protein Berry french toast -- 4/10. I found this to be dry and lacking in flavor. I wouldn't recommend this. Wings -- 6.5/10. The wings were just ok to me. I personally prefer when my wings are already separated. Flavor was good for the first bite, but got tiring after French onion soup -- 5/10. This was my first time trying french onion soup, so I could honestly just not like the dish, but I thought it tasted awful. At the end we just had chunks of cheese Chocolate cake -- 8/10. Super rich and decadent. A great dessert option if you're looking for something to end the meal! read more

I didn't sit in the restaurant proper, I was in the secret room behind the bookshelf. I love they had that! The restaurant is very chic and modern but when the bookshelf was pushed open you were led into a cozy Winter Cottage. All wood with 'fur' rugs across the back of your chair. It was very chic but rustic and cozy. It was the winter wonderland afternoon tea. I came for the first seating the room quickly filled but it didn't feel crowded. My server, I forgot her name and I really regret that, was fantastic. I was there alone and she made me feel so welcomed I would come back just so that I could have another conversation with her. Was surprised me the most was the diversity of the people at the tee. All ages, and there were a lot of Americans visiting Vancouver for the week having tea just like me The tea changes per the season hence why we had winter wonderland. The food was terrific everything I didn't have a complaint about anything. From the scones to the sandwiches to the desserts. I think my favorite was the gingerbread scone. It tasted terrific with strawberry preserves and cream Oh and I was leaving the restaurant had a buffet out with turines and Crockery all around. Definitely coming back for that and the afternoon tea read more

I love afternoon tea, and I love visiting Notch 8 for their themed afternoon tea. Their themed afternoon tea is so different from others. I love their restaurant interior decoration, afternoon tea menu, and service. This time, I visited their Chinese New Year themed afternoon tea. Chinese New Year themed Afternoon tea menu: Scones - Almond scone and buttermilk scone with Orange marmalade and sweet cream -I like both, especially, Almond Scone. It reminded me of the Chinese-style almond cookie flavor. I enjoyed it without marmalade or cream. Very tasty! SAVORY: Chinatown BBQ Honey Glazed Pork, Duck Confit, Shrimp and Egg Tart, Curry Puff, Turnip Cake -My favorite was the Honey Glazed Pork. I really enjoyed the Pork Floss, which had a strong glaze flavor. The Duck Confit was lighter than I expected, and the Spicy Shrimp and Egg Tart was delicious. The Curry Puff and Turnip Cake were also very interesting. SWEET: Dragon Ball Cream Puff, Black Sesame Macaron, Opera Cake, Fruit Tart, Pandan Swiss roll -My favorite was the Dragon Ball cream puff. There was a lot of filling in the small cream puff. I could definitely taste the oolong flavor. Then, the black sesame macaron. The Pandan Swiss roll and fruit tart were okay. The least favorite was the Opera cake... I prefer more matcha flavor. We chose Loose Leaf Tea for Lucky Dragon Hyson and Bamboo Temple Yunnan. Both of them are Chinese loose leaf tea which matched Chinese new year themed afternoon tea goodies.. Overall, I was really satisfied with the Chinese New Year themed afternoon tea. I will definitely go back for another themed afternoon tea at Notch 8 restaurant! read more
Every old world style hotel has a signature restaurant. This is the one at the 1939 Fairmont Vancouver. Having a very elegant and sophisticated look, the place feels somewhat elegant yet casual at the same time. It's not a bad combination. We had a comfortable table near the entrance, which was just fine with the quite loud live music coming from the bar area in the back. Service is efficient and professional, and our server was very much hustling to serve his assigned diners. I ordered a Hickory Old Fashioned to start, and it was so well made. It was perfect for the moment. We decided to have the bread course, which is the chef's special brioche style bread, salted on top. It comes with a whipped butter and tomato jam. It is quite delicious. I decided on the pork chop. It comes with a chutney, potatoes, and zucchini salad. The chop was cut and put into slices on the plate. It was extremely succulent and very tender. All of the accomplishments were equally delicious, and I detected a mashed potato as a bed for the zucchini, along with the crispy new potatoes. I also had a local pinot noir that was such a great companion to the pork chop. Overall, the meal was very delicious, and the experience was good, albeit old world style hotel pricey. read more

A trip down memory lane...an absolute culinary dream! The Lavender & Honey Ash Crusted Lingcod and Forest Mushroom Tart at the Notch8 Restaurant & Bar in the Fairmont Hotel on my Vancouver trip was a fairytale feast for the taste buds! @fairmontvan The enchanting combination of lavender and honey infused the Lingcod with a unique floral sweetness, while the green pea & nasturtium velouté and spring vegetables adds depth to this dish. The Lingcod was flaky and melts in your mouth. The pea and nasturtium velouté formed the perfect base of the dish. So colorful and beautifully plated! It evoked a sense of wonder and anticipation before taking the first bite! The earthy flavors of the Forest Mushroom Tart and the flaky crust was simply scrumptious!! How gorgeous is this Wild Mushroom Tart?? It's no surprise that such an extraordinary meal left a lasting impression. Moments like these are what make traveling so special and unforgettable. read more

They had live music playing in the bar area. The dining area is on the darker side in terms of lighting. Ambience is cool and modern. Our waiter, Gordon, was very kind and attentive. The marinated spring vegetables were absolutely superb! And the pea mousse that sits on top, is so delicious!!!!! It is a MUST try if you enjoy vegetables. We had the prime rib and ocean harvest risotto. Both were great. I appreciated the risotto not being cream based. It had some sort of hard cheese as an accent flavor and it was lovely. read more

We came on a Sunday just to have a quick bite in the lounge. We ordered tea, OMG cake and the beef tartare. The beef tartare was chewy and disappointing. The sauce that went with it masked the taste. The brioche bread on it's on was nice and crunchy but overall not a good dish. Wouldn't order it again. The OMG cake is good as always. Very moist and soft. It definitely needs the raspberry sauce on the side to cut through some of the sweetness. I would say it's good to share amongst 4 people even. Overall I love coming to Notch8 because of the ambiance and the service. Service is always top notch and they go above and beyond to please. The food can be a hit or miss. But the OMG cake is always a show stopper. read more

We came here for the Valentine's Day special dinner. Ambiance wise we weren't expecting too much because it was a hotel restaurant but it was actually very spacious and nice with some live music. We didn't strike lucky with our seating location which made it a little hard to grab our servers attention since we were at a corner end of the restaurant. Food wise... meh. The burrata appetizer was very interesting with the pear and jelly combination I actually enjoyed that. The rest of our dishes were the scallops in plum jelly, maple glazed rib (way too sweet), mushroom lasagna (too dry), and the chocolate decadence (this was actually good). I ordered the chai espresso martini and that was probably the only saving grace of our dinner because it was delicioussss. read more

We were lucky to be in town during Canadian Thanksgiving. Not eight had a three course Thanksgiving dinner with a delicious bisque and a full main course. The food was marvelous with the staff being polite, but a bit rushed. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

Really enjoyed the afternoon tea here. I think they give you more sweet than savory food. The service was good as was the tea. We came during the chess themed tea. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! SUCH A CLASSY experience! I had a lemon tea which was flavorful. My favorites were the salmon tart with the pearls (sooo cute and savory) and the scones. I also really enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. Things were plated beautifully and the service was very good. I also found the price to be reasonable. read more
My friend and I had a really great brunch experience on our first morning in Vancouver. I found this place on IG and everything looked so delicious! Our waitress disappeared for a short time when we were ready to pay and leave, but everything else was fine. We pretty much came here fresh off the plane, since we arrived early in the morning and our room wasn't ready yet, so we couldn't freshen up and we were prob the most underdressed people there! read more

We sat at the bar and had dessert and a cocktail. The dessert was very good - homemade walnut brownie with house made banana ice cream and caramel popcorn. One of the best desserts I have ever had. I love the decorations of the cherry blossom trees all over the high tea room! I loved my Sakura! Sakura! Green tea drink. It smelled sooo good, too. It was very floral and sweet with just a little bit of caffeine. There were lots of bread in the high tea menu but most of them were really good. I really enjoyed the cotton candy cherry blossom tree, which was a nice added touch to the theme! They used dark chocolate as a tree bark to hold up the cotton candy. The only downside is that it is very hot in that little high tea room. There were no windows or air circulation. read more
Had Sunday Brunch before going on our tour. Everything was delicious. Favorites were the grapefruit juice,bacon , Salami, fresh fruits,banana bread and croissants!! Service was terrific and the restaurant is a beautiful setting. Everything was fresh and they were continually putting out fresh food. read more

We had amazing Christmas dinner at the Notch8. I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful hotel was decorated. We stayed at Fairmont Pacific Rim and they told us also to go and check trees at the Fairmont downtown hotel. I was also very happy that i could take pre set menu and my husband wasn't hungry so he just choose the entree dish. I had a appetizer onion tart with salmon which was very good. Then orange refresher and my entree was turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes. Turkey wasn't dry at all and as very delish. I wish presentation was little bit more better ( sauce could be served in separate small plate or something). My husband had nicely roasted river trout. I had creme brulee for dessert. Was fun to see Santa popped out to engage with people. That was very fun. Unfortunately our table was very far from live music but they had some band playing. My cocktail bees & knees was absolutely delish but so tiny for 19 CAD. Also loved lavender gin & tonic. Amazing dinner and we will be back for tea ceremony at Notch 8. read more

First time here with other five friends for brunch buffet and our experienced was very good. We had a reservation so we got seated right away. The place was very nice and spacious. Seats are very comfortable to seat with. Staff are very friendly and accommodating and always checked your table and your needs. Food selections were a lot. Did not even had a chance to try them all but the Salmon and Egg Benedicts were my favourite. Desserts are heaven and the creme brulee is my favourite. Very pricey but worth it. read more

Came here for Christmas Eve brunch. Food was just like festive buffet cuisine that you would find on a cruise. I would recommend grabbing a plate and heading straight to the small seafood and charcuterie section or else the buffet starts with potatoes and pancakes. Had an assortment of baby shrimp salad, cocktail shrimp, candied salmon, poke tuna and a cutting board sized selection of cheeses and salami. A few of the desserts were notably stale. Of these, the macarons were especially dry and brittle. Made me wonder what else on the buffet was old. Coffee, tea, juice service were included. A couple smoothie options (red/green) were available at the buffet table beside the plates. The tastiest items at the Christmas Eve buffet were the green smoothie and cocktail shrimp. Service was just ok. The server was friendly but hard to find. When she was around, she was zipping from table-to-table so quickly that I didn't want to bother this busy little bee. So we ended up getting our drinks later into the meal. Was it worth the $89 price tag? Considering the ambience, designer interiors, location and seasonal surcharge... maybe if the food was fresh and service were adequate? read more

We arrived as a party of 4 on a Wednesday evening and we promptly seated. It was nice that we were served some snacks in cups to go with our drinks. I ordered the Lavender Corpse Reviver, which is an Empress Gin based cocktail. A lovely pretty drink for those that don't mind floral notes! read more
