    Tteok-bo-kki ($16.49)

Been for several dinners at Oh! Zzhu Sam Korean Restaurant, known for their hot plates and stone bowls. It's next door to European Butcher Boy. Never a long wait for tables but always have to ask for drink and banchan refills. Majority of their dishes are with cheese but you can get it without. - Banchan - glazed potatoes, kimchi and pickled radish. Nothing special. - Miro bossam ($27.99) - pork belly was succulent. Good ratio of meat to fat. An abundance of onion. - Spicy pork don in hot stone bowl ($16.99) - a legit dolsot bibimbap. Crispy rice, good spice level. Pork was excellent. - Seafood tofu soup ($17.49) - lacking depth, but the sundubu jjigae was decent. - Spicy cold noodle - no longer on the menu. - Red crisp chicken ($27.99) - generous portion. Sauce coated the chicken nicely. Wish they had a half/half option. - Gamjatang ($17.49) - good depth to the broth. Chunky pieces of pork meat. Solid. - Tteok-bo-kki ($16.49) - standard fare. - Kimchi soup with pork ($16.99) - broth was excellent; well balanced and homey. - Jap-chae ($18.99) - glass noodles clumped together slightly. Flavours were bland. One of the better Korean spots in Burnaby.

Seafood pancake, Bo-ssam, and pa Dak (Korean green onion jalepeno chicken)

Pa Dak (Korean green onion jalepeno chicken): (10/5) was the best fried chicken I've ever had! It was such a massive portion, so I thought the price was very good! I think the pa Dak could easily be shared with 3-4 people if you want to order their other dishes. I would definitely order this again and recommend to all my friends/family to order this. Seafood pancake: 3/5 due to the fact that it was pretty thick (instead of the traditional thin) and not crispy at all(more so just greasy)

There are lots of good food in the Edmonds area. We had Korean food with my sis and BIL and it was oh so very spicy I am so glad we ordered the honey garlic fried chicken. The sweet fried chicken definitely helps with the spicy food. We ordered a small chicken and octopus hot plate. We picked mild for spiciness but it was way too spicy for me. I was sweating like a pig We also ordered pork bone soup which is still spicy but less spicy than the hot plate. We saved the two bowl of rice and cook it on the hot plate. My sis's attempted to make crispy bottom rice but there were too much sauce so it didn't really crisp up in the end. Overall, the food is good but my spice tolerance was not up there If you are a spicy food lover, so give them a try.

Vancouver is home to so much good food and this Korean spot is no exception. It's not big and looks a little dark from the outside but the inside is hustling and bustling with people! The jjusami here is so delicious and portions are really solid. Was here with my parents and we polished it off with some extra rice. We also ordered seolleongtang on the side and it was great to cut the spice and sweetness with. The jjusami also comes with a bowl of bean sprout soup that is a great compliment, but we were very glad that we got both types of soup. I'm also just a soup gal so I can't go wrong with more. Tasted super authentic and was in a very tidy location. Would recommend to others in or visiting the area :)

Randomly found this korean place and thought of trying as i could see that it was packed. (Which generally means food is delicious) After 5 minutes wait, me and my friend got seat so while we were waiting, we saw pictures of two menu items that looked interesting so we ordered them. 1. Seafood pancake - God or the cook in the kitchen knows what batter was used to make the pancake but it was an art. The way seafood was cooked with onions and vegetables and then turned into a flat pancake was very interesting but it also tasted yummy. Not spicy or over salty. Crispy and crunchy . Small prawns were falling out while eating and basically they were steamed. 2. The other was an octopus and chicken dish which was not curry. Perfect spices and again not spicy as we asked them that way but you can get ur own spice level. The salad on side was pickled , tangy and flavour full We were so full to try anything. So i will go again.

My Girlfriend introduced me to this place awhile back and has always been a favourite of ours to frequent. We usually do the soups, but since it's summer we decided to do their Specialty Stir Fry. We got the Pork and the Octopus and chased it down with some Traditional Korean Rice Wine called Makgeolli. The Pork and octopus are tender and when simmered in the hot, sweet, spicy sauce it pairs so well. The Makegeolli is also quite nice! It's a bit nutty and has that fermented rice taste also similar to rice cakes you can find in asian bakeries. Love this place and will be coming back often.

We came here for an early dine in dinner. I hadn't been here since Covid. They're known for their stone bowls and soups. Our rating overall was 3 out of 5. Ambience: 3/5 Food Taste: 3/5 (Seafood pancake - crispy pancake filled mostly with small shrimp, limited tiny pieces of squid & big chunks of green onion. Enough to share with 2 people) (Seafood tofu soup - a decent portion for one with spicy option avail) (Spicy Pork Bone Soup - easily shareable for 2 - 3. Came with big chunks of pork) Both soups came with a bowl of rice. If you like crispy rice go for the stone bowls! Food Value: All our dishes were less than $20. Good value with leftovers. A small dish of complimentary appetizers came with our meal. Service: 3/5 average. We asked if the portions would be enough for 2 people but gave us the incorrect info. Location: off of Edmonds & Mary street. Free parking in the residential neighbourhood if you're planning to stay more than an hour.

I've been to many Korean restaurants but this one hits a bit different. The flavors taste like your grandma made it! Hard to explain you just have to try! We ordered the spicy intestines with glass noodles (extra spicy for me). My friend had the japjae. Both were delicious and well portioned. We shared the pork bone soup, perfect for this rainy Vancouver weather. Will come back to try the fried chicken and have soju with my hubby soon!

Another great Korean place along the stretch of Edmonds. Parking is available on the side streets. The inside is typical Korean style with some wood paneling and dated soju posters. Staff were friendly. Appetizers - potato chunks in sweet sauce, kimchi, and turnip and onion slices in sweet sauce. M1 spicy octopus with pork - the medium size is good for 2-3 people. Add fried rice for a few dollars more. I've been told to skip the cheese option. The mild option is probably medium to hot by North American standards. In other words, this is awesome. Guess I'll be trying medium spicy next time. The rice is added after a chunk of the main dish is eaten, to soak up the sauces. A wee bit pricey to be honest, but the food sure is tasty. Might come back at some point.

Friend's recommendation brought the three of us here to one of many Korean restaurants along Edmonds Street in Burnaby, BC. Ambiance of the place is your typical Korean style restaurant decorated with an abundance of wood paneling and Soju advertisement posters. Staple Korean appetizers arrived before our entrée: potato chunks in sweet sauce, fermented cabbage & turnip, and kimchi. Bean sprout and green onion soup was also served before our main dish. We ordered the M1. (Zzhussam) Spicy stir fried baby octopus and pork from the Main Hot Plate section. Decided to go with the medium portion as was told small is good for 2 people and the large is just right for 4 to 5 people. Judging from past experience in other Korean eateries and the menu tip *Eating bean sprouts can cool the spicy flavours* the consensus was to choose mild spiciness. Added 2 side portions of fried rice to be mixed with the stir fry at the halfway point of the meal to obtain satiety. Overall the meal was tasty, we were all able to savor all the ingredients of the dishes without the spice drowning out it's true flavours. A bit pricey in my opinion, but will be back to enjoy their other offerings. There was only one waitress / cashier present to serve dine in customers and handle take out orders. I commend her efficiency in juggling the two tasks at the same time. Free street parking is available along Edmonds Street and side inner streets.

    LA Galbi
    Kay F.

One of the many Korean restaurants located in the Edmunds neighbourhood of Burnaby, we came here for take out on a Saturday night and found that it was quite busy. We got the LA Galbi, Bulgogi Deopbap, Jeyuk Deopbap, and the Seafood Pancake. The LA Galbi and the Bulgogi were both marinated well and tasty and the portions were quite large. The seafood pancake, on the other hand, I wasn't a big fan of. It was quite thick when normally it would be quite thin and felt more like a pizza than a pancake. Overall, the food was not bad.

    Zzhu Ringkle chicken: $26.39
    Hng A.

Delivery this time!! Price: $26.39 Food: 10/10 I'm in love!! Packaging: 10/10 The packaging is very careful and still keep the heat of the fried chicken. Having this for the second time in a week, and I realized I was addicted to it. A huge portion of crispy deep-fried chicken with cheese powder covered the outside, then dipped in a rich cheese sauce ... It's perfect for a weekend night. I ordered by uber eat but when this was delivered, it was still as crispy as when you enjoyed it in the restaurant. The packaging is very careful and still keep the heat of the fried chicken. It served with pickled radish, however, the sauce served was a bit less. Though, the fried chicken without the sauce is still great enough.

Left: butter corn Right: baby octopus and beef pot
    Mimi P.

Ordered the baby octopus and beef pot (known here for), butter corn and the spicy chicken feet. The pot comes in three diff sizes and its shareable! For a small pot, it was a lot of food and they didn't skimp out the baby octopus. When I go to korean restaurants, I consider how good their kimchi taste and here its perfect with a little kick to it. Normally when I asked for extra spice at other restaurants, its never spicy but here you get what you asked for! I can live without the chicken feet as it was too sweet for my liking. However, I will definitely return with friends to try out other foods! Love supporting family businesses!

Food-wise: their prices and portions are quite reasonable but I have yet to discover my favorite menu item or their best dishes as taste for bulgogi was just okay. Overall, their weekday lunch special is good value. Though their food on my first visit wasn't especially memorable, their spacious interior + modern ambience + efficient service + good value and free parking brings them up from 3.5 stars to a 4 stars rating since this is a place I would definitely consider visiting again to try other dishes. There is a bell on the table if you need attention from the servers, and they are usually pretty efficient and fast when it is rung. We saw that there was a $9.99 combo deal and everyone at our table was shocked. We all ordered that. The combo comes with your choice of a noodle dish (Jajangmyeon or Black Bean noodles, Korean udon, or Spicy Cold noodles) and a Beef Bulgogi on the side. I ordered the Jajangmyeon with the Beef Bulgogi and it was great! I enjoyed the nice chew from the noodles and the Black Bean sauce was flavoured well. I was pleased to find chunks of pork in the noodles also. The Beef Bulgogi was a little watery, but tasted sweet and tender. All that food for $9.99. That's unheard of in this economy and in these times! Amazing. We'll definitely return as we saw other great deals on the menu also!

We chose the gganpunggi (sweet chili chicken). Jjajangmyeon was ok. Nothing too special about it. Good portions. The gganpunggi was also a good portion! However, I found that it was mostly batter, and since they use a mix of tapioca starch and other as breading, it gets jello-y when not completely cooked.
