I dont really like jambong, so I'm super glad 88 noodle house lets you choose 2 jjajangmyeon! Perfect combo. For the meat dish, you can get tangsuyuk or gganpunggi. We chose the gganpunggi (sweet chili chicken). Jjajangmyeon was ok. Nothing too special about it. Good portions. The gganpunggi was also a good portion! However, I found that it was mostly batter, and since they use a mix of tapioca starch and other as breading, it gets jello-y when not completely cooked. The flavor was really good, but I was disappointed with the batter to chicken ratio. I will continue my search for this type of combo! read more

This is our go to place for late night, after workout meals. We find their portion sizes perfect for sharing and we tend to have leftovers to pack up as well. We always get the black bean noodles. Flavour is consistent, tasty, and it comes out quick and hot from the kitchen. We rotate between the sweet chili chicken and the sweet and sour pork. This time we got the sweet chili chicken. Flavour is good and comes piping hot and crispy. However, I did find the breading a bit heavy and there is a lot of fat in the layers. Same goes for the sweet and sour pork. I love their coating and the flavour is great, but sometimes I just get a coated piece of fat which is a bit off-putting. We also like the japchae, but find it has a bit too much onion for us. Ok cold nights we like to get the 88 noodle soup. Hot, peppery, slightly spicy. Goes well with the pickles they give you. Service is always quick and polite. No issues there. Came with a few friends for lunch and we had a great meal for a great price at this Korean Chinese restaurant! We ordered one of the combos with black bean noodle, spicy seafood noodle soup and their sweet and sour pork. Worrying this wouldn't be enough we also added on their seafood egg fried rice which came with some black bean sauce as well. All of the dishes we got were large portions and we couldn't finish! The flavours were all there and they used a LOT of onions (which I liked, but others might not). We asked for mild in the spicy noodle soup but it definitely had a kick to it! The sweet and sour pork had a very light and crispy batter and when dipped in just a little sauce, a great tang with a delicate bite. Jjambbong had some beef and seafood toppings. I liked the spice level, but my mom wanted it to be little bit spicy. Portion seemed little small for 4 of us. I ordered the C combo (jjajangmyeon + 88 jjambbong + kkampeungi/sweet chili chicken), and took it to-go. Even after it was sitting out waiting for pickup and our 17-minute drive back to our Airbnb, the chicken was crispy and delightful. The jjambbong broth had such a deliciously smoky seafood flavor--it might be one of the best jjambbong broths I've ever had. The jjajangmyeon wasn't very mind-blowing, but it was still enjoyable and was a good addition for the combo price. I paid about $66 CAD including tip, but I'm from the States so the total was about $47 USD. For the amount of food and the taste, it was very worth it. My boyfriend and I have enough leftover for another meal tomorrow (although we would've kept eating to enjoy it fresh if we didn't get so full). Next time, I'd probably try the combo with the seafood fried rice + 88 jjambbong + chicken. I'm curious about the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) as well, but the chicken is too good to pass up. We got the Combo C ($43) which comes with sweet chili chicken, black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodle soup, which was my favourite. You can choose your spice level, which is a perk. The chicken is pretty fatty, but I liked it nonetheless. This was way too much for just the two of us, so it's definitely better to come with some more pals. This combo can feed 3-4 people. Since we had to take home some of the food, we asked if we could pack our leftover side dishes (I love the pickled radish). Our server gave us a new pack of side dishes. The packaging for takeout was neatly packed so that the liquids wouldn't spill, reminded me of Korea. The black bean noodles were delicious and my favorite item from here. The seafood noodles were delicious but could use a little more spice and flavor but not too bad. The sweet and sour pork was delicious and crispy. The chili shrimp came on a bed of salad, was hoping for more sauce on these but we're still delicious. Was craving noodles so decided to try this little place because I figured this restaurant would have tons of different noodle dishes hence the name "noodle house". When I got the menu I was a little disappointed to only see four selections of noodles but once our food came that disappointment was instantly gone. The noodles were so good because they were the perfect amount of chewiness. The jajangmyeon sauce was very flavorful and it wasn't too thick nor too runny. Back in early March, I checked out 88 PalPal Noodle House, which is the latest restaurant to take up digs in the corner of Kingsway and Marlborough. I wasn't entirely sure what kind of food to expect here (aside from being a noodle joint) but it turned out to be a mainly Korean restaurant (the interior looks like they spiffed things up a bit since the last tenant but the overall layout is basically the same). I decided to opt with the Black Bean Noodle Combo ($12 lunch special) which included mandu (fried dumplings) as well as some pickled radish and kimchi banchan. The Jajangmyeon has plenty of tender noodles underneath the thick sauce but I was a bit disappointed that it was lacking in terms of black bean flavour. Overall, it wasn't too bad and it's sure to fill you up if you're craving for carbs. Service was pretty quick and friendly but the menu is a bit limited (and they also have some non-noodle dishes). read more

Ah so good. It's just like in Korea. This serves the classic Korean-Chinese food like Jajangmyun, Champong, and Tengsuyuk. I think this is the best restaurant for this style of food in the Metrotown area. Takeout is great. The food containers are plastic heat sealed to prevent spills and lock in the flavor. Nice feature that I don't see often in Vancouver. For dine-in, there is wide separation and plastic barriers between tables. Friendly service. Inexpensive, generous portions. If you can't handle spicy food, be sure to tell them to go mild or no chili spice. If you want to pair your kdrama marathon with real korean chinese food, then this is the way. ! read more

The noodle soup os definitely better. The tangsuyuk is good since they separate the sweet and sour sauce with the fried pork. The jjangmyeon has a lot of pork inside so worth it and it got yam? We were walking around the Metropolis at Metrotown until we became hungry and was craving some good noodles. And located 88 PalPal Noodle House through yelp (thank ya'll!), and good noodles we gobbled up! We shared both the #1 Black Bean Noodles and the #2 Chili Seafood Noodle (traditional korean dish called "Jjamppong"). Thank goodness we did not order any additional food as they gave free sides of picked daikon and radish along with the huge bowls of noodles. The Black Bean Noodles were solid as expected, decent amount of vegetables and the noodles were chewy AF. On the other hand... the Chili Seafood Noodle was a game-changing jaw-dropper - I love the level of spice as well as the depth of seafood flavor in the broth, also with a TON of vegetables. We dined in since they were able to accomodate our group of 6. They really made progress here with their noodles. Definitely chewier and not overcooked. I really enjoyed their sweet and sour pork( tang su yook) and they offer more sauce if you need more, no extra charge. The deckle brisket is a different twist to the jjamppong but it creates a deeper, richer flavour. This restaurant is a prime example of taking ownership of mistakes and properly changing to create better business. So glad we gave another try here! read more

The fried chicken was not greasy, but still had a nice and crisp exterior, and the chilli sauce was quite fiery. The sauce for the black bean noodles dish had a deep, complex black bean flavour. The yam and meat pieces were a delightful addition. There was a lot of sauce for the amount of black bean noodles. The broth for the seafood noodles tasted of both beef and seafood - a surprising but very welcome combination. The broth was rich and had just a small amount of spice, giving it another level of character. The vegetable, beef, and seafood pieces in the broth made the dish more filling.
