Lunch special for take out only.
    Carolyn L.

The food is pretty good here. I just can't get over how pricey the dishes are though. Lunch will be the cheaper option as the Togo menu is $9.55 for selected dish from 11 am to 3 pm daily. Otherwise you are looking at around $30 for the fried chicken and the hot pot in the $40+ range. I have always ordered to go and the wait is around 15-20 minutes when ordering in person. They do package the food very well, no worries of spilling the soup.

Cute little cozy place in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was so good. It is small so can get quite packed but we came late at 9pm and was much slower. Weekends Friday Saturday they are open til 10pm. We came after dance class upstairs and were starving. Food was delicious and will definitely be back again. Thank you!

This is a local family restaurant. I hoped that this restaurant would be good one but unfortunately there is some disappointment. I came with two other people. I got the garlic soy chicken and shared it with B. Unfortunately the Soy chicken batter was not my favorite. They used a cornflake batter which wasn't our favorite. The flavor was also very sweet. The batter was too thick and the chicken itself wasn't very crispy. The restaurant is also very small. They have a take out special which is a smaller portion size of what they are serving in the restaurant. The portion size here is quite big for what you pay for. Service was good as well. To sum up: Flavor or food taste I would say 2 stars Portion size 4 stars Service 3.5 stars

Cute little Korean restaurant down by Rumble and Nelson. This is our second time coming here. This time we ordered their rainbow chicken (has all the flavor of their fried chicken), ox bone soup and bossam for the two of us. We went a little overboard but it was worth it. The fried chicken was very crispy and juicy. The sauce is under the fried chicken so remember to cover your chicken piece with sauce before eating. I find the beef in the ox bone soup less tender this time but the broth is as milky as last time. I quite like their blossom. The shredded green onions is definitely a good touch. The best deal is the rainbow chicken. It was $56-57 and portion is huge. We packed the leftover home and made ramen and fried rice for the next few days

I really wanted to like this place with pretty good reviews and it's close to us. But it was bad. Thankfully I didn't eat in - but I saw people auditing over an hour for their meal. Some even waited over 20-30 min to get a menu and then another 20 min to get their order in. We ordered take out. First couple times I calledC they hung up on me. I tried ordering off their website and it would go thru, then minutes later it got cancelled. After one last attempt to call, I got my order in and was quite 40 min wait. That's fine I said. We got there at 40 min. Watched alllll those people I mentioned above while we proceeded to wait another 30 min in the cramped corner after being told it'd be only another 5 min. If they had been honest and said it'd be another half hour, I would have cancelled my order or at least gone for a walk. Instead I had to uncomfortably hover over this small table bc there was no where to stand. After we got the food I really hoped the wait was worth it. It. Was. Not. Save youe money. Save your time. Go somewhere else nearby on Victoria for Korean food. Or on kingsway. There's so many options.

Small Korean restaurant at the intersection of Rumble and Royal Oak. Has like 10 tables total, and there were people coming in on a Friday night. Menu had the usual array of Korean specialties. Got the seolleongtang beef broth, and it came with a bowl of rice and a little cup of salt for you to season. Tasted decent enough. Not a whole lot of beef in the soup but had some sweet potato flour noodles. Shared two dishes. First was the boneless Korean fried chicken. Got the original flavor, and it was sizable bowl of fried boneless chicken pieces. Not a lot of flour or strong flavors on the outside, but it's fresh out of fryer and juicy on the inside. Also got the BBQ pork belly, and that was delicious. Thick slices of pork belly that has that crispy fattiness. Final bill was around $40 per person including tax and tip, and we were pretty full.

We were looking for a new place to try for dinner and decided to give Gaya Korean Restaurant a go. It's next door to It's Tea and across the street from STEM Japanese Eatery, Makoto Japanese Restaurant and Adam's Crepe. There's 7 tables inside but seems to be quite popular for takeout. Service is friendly but not on the ball. You'll have to flag someone down for water and banchan refills. The menu is split into appetizers, mains, specials, fried chicken (boneless, bone-in and wings) and hot pot. There's a few lunch specials ($9.95) available everyday from 11:00am to 3:00pm but only as a to go option. Trip #1 - Banchan - kimchi, braised potato and bean sprouts. Kimchi was excellent with a subtle kick. Bean sprouts were refreshing. Potatoes were standard but done well. - Hotpot bibimbap ($13.95) - they brought out the gochujang on the side, which interestingly had some sort of soy bean (?) mixed in. The rice didn't get too crispy but the flavours were spot on. Really well balanced and one of the tastiest bibimbap's I've had in a long time. - Seafood tofu soup ($14.95) - this came with a side bowl of rice. Two large prawns, octupus, baby shrimps, tofu, onion and green onion. Generous amount of tofu. The broth had good depth and the seafood really came through. Trip #2 - Banchan - this time around they had cubed radish. Bean sprouts are still the best of the bunch. - Japchae ($18.95) - very good portion. Liked how it wasn't over sauced. The wood ear mushrooms added a nice bite. - Tteok-bokki ($10.95) - fairly standard. - Beef tofu soup ($14.95) - their tofu soups are excellent. Generous portion of beef slices and the tofu is soft, silky and smooth. - Kimchi fried rice ($13.95) - came with spam and a fried egg. Good balance and flavourful. - Half and half (boneless) ($22.95) - you get to try their original/plain flavour and sweet & spicy sauce (yangyeom). Yangyeom was the better of the two. The chicken wasn't as crispy as when you get it bone-in but quite tender. We'll be back with a bigger group to try more dishes from Gaya. Beef tartare bibibimbap next time!

To Go Review First time trying the Take Out Lunch Specials - $6.95 The restaurant was so busy when I came in to place an order at 2pm on a Saturday. There was only 1 person working at the front of the house. I ordered the Bulgogi Deopbab bowl $6.95 (beef bulgogi with rice) and Padak Chicken $6.95 (fried boneless chicken with green onion and sweet soy sauce) The order took 30min and it was fine. The chicken was marinated and juicy but the bowl would have tasted way better if the lid of the take out container was cut open so the chicken wouldn't get soggy. If they offer a take out special for 5 chicken dishes that were deep fried, it would help do your food justice to keep the fried food crispy The Bulgogi beef bowl tasted alright, good portion but some pieces of beef were too chewy to eat If I come back, I would try dining in

This was my first time visiting Gaya and I was really satisfied with my meals! After a long and tiring day, my friends and I decided to try a new restaurant and got the most filling foods we could find. We got the spicy hot pot which included some delicious tteokbokki, the seafood pancake, and honey garlic fried chicken. Each meal was so delicious and had a good portion included. The hot pot specifically was super tasty and I appreciated the variety of ingredients included (and the extra spice!) I also really liked how flavourful the fried chicken was and how well done the pancakes were. Overall, it was a great restaurant and served a variety of Korean food. I would definitely visit Gaya again!

We found this restaurant thanks to a quick search on Yelp. We were seated right away as it was not busy for a late afternoon lunch. We ordered a few items and it arrived fairly quickly. It was pretty good for the price. We have had better elsewhere, but I did like how the menu offered a decent variety of food. Fried chicken was crispy. It was a mix of wings and drumsticks. The bone broth could be more flavourful. It really needed salt to amp up the flavour. The beef tartar was good. I would have preferred thinner sliced beef. Service was great. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in the area for a home style food.

Another place to get korean fried chicken which is good yayy. The rice cake carbonara was really good definitely recommended. An interesting hidden place and not gatekeeping it. Cheers!

Small little restaurant with a clean and modern look. I like the variety of Korean food served at this place. They have fried chicken, stew soup, fried rice, seafood pancake, noodles, plus a variety of beverages, including alcoholic beverages.

New Korean restaurant in the Burnaby South area. We saw this place while walking around Burnaby South and decided to give them a try. We ordered online and pickup was quite easy. Portions were large and was on par with other Korean restaurants in the neighbourhood. I miss the complimentary side dishes that come with dining in so will need to sit in and eat on another day. Glad to see this one join the neighbourhood.

Service was pretty quick when I visited, wasn't too busy with about three other tables of diners. Food-wise: their prices and portions are quite reasonable but I have yet to discover my favorite menu item or their best dishes as taste for bulgogi was just okay. Overall, their weekday lunch special is good value. Though their food on my first visit wasn't especially memorable, their spacious interior + modern ambience + efficient service + good value and free parking brings them up from 3.5 stars to a 4 stars rating since this is a place I would definitely consider visiting again to try other dishes. And I am hopeful about finding items to my liking because they offer a fairly diverse food and drinks menu.

It's simply decorated with Soju bottles or posters of Korean pop stars or actors. Love the casual and laid back vibe! There is a bell on the table if you need attention from the servers, and they are usually pretty efficient and fast when it is rung. We saw that there was a $9.99 combo deal and everyone at our table was shocked. We all ordered that. The combo comes with your choice of a noodle dish (Jajangmyeon or Black Bean noodles, Korean udon, or Spicy Cold noodles) and a Beef Bulgogi on the side. I ordered the Jajangmyeon with the Beef Bulgogi and it was great! I enjoyed the nice chew from the noodles and the Black Bean sauce was flavoured well. I was pleased to find chunks of pork in the noodles also. The Beef Bulgogi was a little watery, but tasted sweet and tender. All that food for $9.99. That's unheard of in this economy and in these times! Amazing. We'll definitely return as we saw other great deals on the menu also!

I dont really like jambong, so I'm super glad 88 noodle house lets you choose 2 jjajangmyeon! Perfect combo. For the meat dish, you can get tangsuyuk or gganpunggi. We chose the gganpunggi (sweet chili chicken). Jjajangmyeon was ok. Nothing too special about it. Good portions. The gganpunggi was also a good portion! However, I found that it was mostly batter, and since they use a mix of tapioca starch and other as breading, it gets jello-y when not completely cooked. The flavor was really good, but I was disappointed with the batter to chicken ratio. I will continue my search for this type of combo!

Same goes for the sweet and sour pork. I love their coating and the flavour is great, but sometimes I just get a coated piece of fat which is a bit off-putting. We also like the japchae, but find it has a bit too much onion for us. Ok cold nights we like to get the 88 noodle soup. Hot, peppery, slightly spicy. Goes well with the pickles they give you.
