4 years ago I came here and had their hot plate. It was delicious and I gave them a 5 star review. 4 years and with much more accumulated experience eating Korean food later, we were quite disappointed. Upon arrival, the waitress checked our vaccine card, asked us to sanitize our hands and directed us to our table. The tables are all divided with screens so I felt safe eating here. We ordered: 1. Ox tendon soup - wow, for $17 a pot there wasn't much food in the pot. There were a couple of tiny cut up pieces of tendon, some glass noodles and scallions. 2. Spicy duck soup - this one came with more soup but overall was ok. Definitely no wow factor. It was basically some pieces of duck, radish leaves and 2 potatoes. In fact, it tasted like a beef and radish soup that I had elsewhere. I had assumed that a duck soup would have a unique taste. There was only one person on the floor doing every single task: checking vaccine passports, taking orders, bringing utensils and tea, serving food, getting customers to pay and cleaning. The restaurant was also filled up as well. This is to indicate that we had zero "service" . She didnt even come and check on us until we were finished with our food. I've nothing against her because she was busy but the restaurant owner is quite stingy then? Also, there were zero Korean people who dined here and this tells me a lot of unsaid information. Food-wise, I typically cannot finish one Korean soup by myself. Today, the portion was so small that we left hungry. The taste itself wasn't that amazing as well. If you're planning to come here, don't get the soups. I recommend their hot plates and I hope they're still just as good as 4 years ago.

Really yummy Korean bbq! We got the baby octopus and the server basically takes it out of the kitchen pre-assembled (raw), and helps you cut up the food and keeps an eye on it while it cooks in front of you. Dipping the food in the melted cheese was sinful but sooooo delicious. We also ordered the fried chicken and it was excellent. Also we dipped that in the melted cheese even though we ordered the chicken that already comes with cheese :P The side dishes that come with the meal are unlimited! Your server will likely ask if you'd like a refill when you're almost done. So that's awesome. Left feeling super full!

I had a great experience here tonight. The food was super yummy and the service was just fine. The reason I kept one star off was because I thought that there wasn't a lot of veggie options or veggies in the dishes in general. Also the place is just a bit pricey which is usually the case at Korean restaurants. Compared to other Korean places I've been to, however, this place wasn't so bad in terms of costs. Really happy they were open for dine in!

The food here is ok, but nothing spectacular. Being on Robson St., parking can be hard to find and the wait for a table can be over 1 hour long, especially during peak times. When we visited, the service was unforgivably bad. They forgot to add pork to our hot plate, so they started cooking the dish without it first. After 20 minutes when the cooked food is already dried out and starting to get burnt, they finally came and added the raw pork into the already cooked dish. In between, we had to remind the server and manager twice. In terms of taste, the food is ok. The flavor is not bland, but lacks the wow factor. Their loud rock music was my thing either. I probably would not want to come back again.

Tâ Bom is a modern Korean cuisine that serves a variety of Korean plates in a casual venue. They are known for a sizzling iron plate with corn and cheese as well as their signature hot pot. The circular iron hot plate cost from $14+. Each order requires a minimum of 2 portions of the same meat, and they place two orders of meat on the same plate. It serves with egg and corn on the side, but you can order additional side dishes like cheese, rice cake, noodles, fried rice and so forth. We order a Jukkumi-Jeyuk-Bokkeum (stir-fried spicy baby octopus and pork belly hot plate ) with additional cheese and volcano fried rice. The server helped us to cut the octopus and pork belly. The service was impeccable! The food was very flavourful. Apparently, the cheese appeared to the most popular side dish as almost every table ordered that. It went perfectly well with the main dish. The server brought out the rice after we finished the main dish. They added rice to make fried rice in the leftovers with the remaining sauce. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone! Tâ Bom Korean Cuisine is located at C-1046 Austin Avenue in Coquitlam, BC. It is just next doors to Jimoco Pasta on Austin. Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍‍5/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! (Most kids love cheese and fried rice) Price: $50-$100 for two (Dinner) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: 1/5 limited free parking spots in the front but plenty of street parking around. Tips: *can ask for a dish to be made non-spicy. *do not accept reservation. *serves in huge portions. It is nice to share with friends. Would I Return: Yes ‍

It is alright. I wouldn't say it's the best. I wish that there was more care in the dishes. The bento boxes are okay. There aren't a lot of side dishes. While they are less than sura, the quality isnt as good nor is it presented as well. It is less likely I will come back. I think this place is okay for those who want simple korean food. It isnt a spectacular place, but it is cheaper.

Tasty little spot in Coquitlam. Second time going, definitely won't me the last. Went on a Monday evening, it was way less busy than last time. Food is great, service is polite, and the experience is fun!

Pretty good experience despite the wait. One star off is from the service. I feel that they were a bit short on staff when I was there.

Stir Fried Spicy Baby Octopus and Pork Hot Plate

I first checked out this place because they were serving egg volcano and the stir-fry hot plate (egg, cheese, corn). It's not a big restaurant, and it was busy when I came and parking can be tricky (Saturday night). After coming back at another occasion (still Saturday night), I got lucky and thought it's now a better time to come within 30 mins of opening time - more parking, less line-up! Service can be tricky - despite the small space, it may feel they are short-staffed, especially during the busy hours. We had to ask twice to order one serving of rice. Food was good - we ordered the spicy baby octopus (?) and pork stir fry hot plate with an egg volcano on the side. It has more sauce than I'd want it to, but perhaps it so that you can order more rice towards the end and mix the sauce with it, which makes a yummy fried rice!

Hot plate - Bulgogi

The service was very friendly and helpful with the huge amount of questions that we had on picking on the menu. The food was super delicious. We deeply loved the Hot Place bulgogi.

Ta Bom Korean Cuisine is located on Austin Ave, Coquitlam. The restaurant pretty small and cozy. We came here for dinner after Glow Xmas light. We ordered some dishes to share and all the dishes pretty ok. Pork and baby octopus - It served on sizzling plate with corns, cheese and egg on the side. The pork and baby octopus so delicious. Spicy duck soup - generous portion of duck and the soup so flavorful. Tempura Udon - simple but good for a kid Bibibob - it's great and tasty. Overall, the service was good and reasonable price.

A tasty Korean spot in the mass of Korean spots in the area. I was afraid that Ta Bom would be gimmicky, and the food may not be good, but I was wrong. There's street parking right outside. I came here around 5:30pm with some friends and two young children. The menu is quite large. As it was our first time here, we asked the server for recommendations. He was good at explaining the different types of hot plate dishes that they have, and also let us know how much we should order. We got a beef bulgogi hot plate, gyoza, and the Ta Bom chicken. The beef bulgogi plate was larger than we expected. It was nice that they help us cook it. We added cheese to the plate which was a good choice. The kids loved the cheese! The beef bulgogi dish was flavourful without being overly salty, and I liked the abundance of veggies within the dish. Adding the fried rice option is a must. With the sauce from cooking the beef, the rice is also cooked on the same plate, melding with all the sauce. They also help us fry the rice, adding in shreds of seaweed for extra flavour. With the hot plate, parts of the fried rice becomes crispy- my favourite part. The gyoza and chicken were average. Service was quite good. The place got really busy as we were eating, so be prepared for a wait. I would recommend this place if you're looking for something different in the area.

We came in with our family of 7 for dinner at 6:30pm on a weekday. We ordered the Hotplate and chose the octopus and pork for the meat, and also added corn, cheese, egg and got the fried rice after. There were 7 of us, but we only ordered 3 servings for the Hotplate. The Hotplate is served in the middle of the table where we can adjust the temperature. The servers would help us cut up the baby octopus once it started sizzling. This was very fun to eat, dipping the meat into the melted cheese and topping with the steamed egg. The meat was marinated well and the octopus was not chewy. Food was served right away but not everything came at once because all the dishes did not fit on the table. We also added a combo that includes Salad, Bibimbap, Pork Bone soup, Jap chae, Spicy deep fried popcorn chicken, Seafood pancake and steamed white rice. The amount of food was just right. It was a fun dinner experience for my parents and especially my grandma. Will be back again. They do not take reservations, so you should come early, there was a lineup by 7pm! There is a/c but its coolest near the cashier area of the restaurant. There are limited free parking spots in the front but plenty of street parking around. Do not park at the Safeway across the street to avoid a parking ticket. We all smelled like meat and bbq after (not necessarily a bad thing), so don't wear your cleanest outfit. #HotPlateFun #SharingIsCaring

This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community. The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite. Here's what we ordered: * Beef Tartare Bibimbap - Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish! * Naengmyeon - Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day. * Japchae - Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all--just the right balance of flavour. Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours--Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We ordered short rib BBQ, Beef tartare Bibimbap, and original-flavor deep-fried chicken wings. Beef tartare Bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl with a variety of vegetables on top of the rice. The gochujang sauce was served separately, allowing us to adjust the spiciness to our preference. It was a pretty good dish. The short rib BBQ was very tender and nicely seasoned. It was slightly on the sweeter side, very delicious. I will definitely order it again. The original flavor deep-fried chicken wings were served fresh and hot. They were incredibly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside--very good! Next time, I should order them with a flavored seasoning, as I already knew the original version was cooked with less saltiness, meant to be paired with a sauce. Overall, I really like this restaurant. The food tasted good, and the most notable point was the reasonable price! It was a very good deal, and it has now become one of my regular go-to places.

Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

Came back here last night for dinner with my family and was finally able to try the bbq items. It was a hit! We ordered 2 of the combo A which was the perfect servings for 2 adults and 3 (very hungry!) teenaged boys. Not only did it come with 3 meat types (thinly sliced pork belly, marinated beef Bulgogi, and one other thinly sliced beef), it also came with soup, banchan, and a big bowl of Bibimbap. We also ordered their seafood pancake which was perfectly crispy and not too thin or thick. The actual bbq grill itself was the best one I've seen at a Korean restaurant because it was non-stick, temperature controlled really well, and it didn't leave us smelling like the food after dining. The ventilation must've been good here as it wasn't super smoky at all. The best dish was definitely the bean paste soup! We all loved it and had never tried it before, so next time we have Korean, it will be a staple in our order! It wasn't too busy last night so we were seated right away. Staff were friendly and while they were short-staffed, they were quick enough to get what we requested and ordered in a timely manner.
