    Beef lunch 102

Great Korean restaurant in Richmond! Took my family out for lunch and we don't have to drive all the way to Coquitlam for good Korean restaurants! The lunch sets are good portions and my girls are happy with the taste! Service is just like the average restaurant. They got normal tables as well BBQ tables, also 3 private dining rooms plus a huge private dinner room can fit about 60 people (but with glass people can looking at) Will come again to try out the BBQ dinner!

Our 1st time here, love it already! We ordered their Combo Special 'Kum' for 4. There were still plenty of food left considered we were a table of 4 adults plus 1 10yrs old. I have to admit we ordered japchae as well. Trust me, even if we didn't order japchae, you would still have left over. Oh, we didn't do the grill ourselves. It was nice that they gave us an option of self grill or kitchen grill. We chose kitchen grill this time coz everyone was pretty tired. We love their food. The service was good too. For sure there was no complain on any. Will definitely return when we are back in town!

a true gem hiding in plain sight!! stumbled upon this place while shopping at the brick! did a quick research and decided, "next time...im ging there!" so, had a lunch date with a buddy and i suggested we try this korean bbq place. from the covid protocols, to the lunch specials, to the service and food...everything considered, a real 5 star experience. we went with the meat bbq combo special for 2...and tried the steamed dumplings too. the combo was really good value for $. so much food and most importantly....the variety is unheard off. you can kalbi, beef, chicken, pork, and some mushrooms, with miso soup and the classic ban chan! so much food for such a reasonable place compared to all other korea bbq places in richmond. service was great...the server started to help us cook our meats too..i suggested that we could handle it so she is not that tired. the marinade for the bbq meats were awesome too. just the right touch of sweetness. amazing! the steamed dumplings tasted so fresh. packed full of meat and flavour..served with a tangy dipping sauce that complimented it so well. all ready making plans to go back! i had an amazing time. washrooms were well kept and tables distanced properly. tons of parking in the street mall. total value for $! cheers! happy eating!

Good value but service is really lacking. I wouldn't return based on the service. I have to get this out of the way right off the bat - DO NOT GRAB THINGS OUT OF YOUR CUSTOMER'S HAND. So freaking rude. I couldn't believe it. The waiter didn't think I was cooking our BBQ beef good enough to his liking, and without saying a word, he just grabbed the tongs right out of my hand! WOW! I told him to take a hike and bring me new, clean tongs. He never did. I finished cooking the beef with chopsticks. The sides were really good, and the kimchi especially was tasty, as well as the apples. The soda is served in cans, and I had to ask for a glass of ice. If I'm in a sit down restaurant, I am not going to drink out of a freaking can. The guy with me was a Korean virgin and he couldn't deal with chopsticks either. The same waiter gave us attitude about asking for a fork for him. He is white, we get it - don't be a jerk. At least he was trying something new. The ambiance is really lacking. Very bland and not welcoming. Food: 4 Service: 1 Ambiance: 2 Parking: 4

I'm giving 4 starts solely for their black bean noodles. I don't know what it is but I'm addicted to their black bean noodles. I've had black bean noodles from multiple Korean restaurants in lower mainland include the ones in Coquitlam but nothing beats the one they have here. I just like it so much and I crave it often. Everything is perfect: the thickness of the noodles, meat chunks, richness of the sauce, etc. If you like Korean black bean noodles, it's worth giving it a try for $9! I've tried other items from their menu but nothing else is really spectacular here. I personally really like the potato side dish at Korean restaurants, but the one they have here is super dry as you can see in the picture. I wish they were more saucy and flavorful. All the soup and noodle dishes are reasonably priced. It can get expensive if you order BBQ.

Looking to find a place that is open for Korean BBQ in richmond that is big enough so you're not stuck with people sitting in your personal space of comfort and with staff that understand the complexities of serving food during this pandemic ? Dai Jang Kum is open. A family run business where you get lots of the side dishes. We ordered the bulgogi and pork belly for bbq and the Korean pancake for dinner. It was nice and quiet and the booths were private enough and customers seated far enough from each other that you didn't feel infringed upon. Food is average for Korean bbq and the server changed the bbq grill for us without needing to wait and ask. Or ask and wait. Paid cash which was nice cause despite the fact that most places require machine debit or credit only not everyone has it.

Pretty expensive for the amount of food you get and quite empty most of the day. The portions are also a bit small in terms of the amount you get in their set menus. We came as a huge group and it was very quiet but still, service hardly popped by. Food was not bad though although there is definitely much more flavourful and better elsewhere.

Like how they leave multiple tea pots and water on the tables. 24 items on the menu; appetizers, KFC, BBQ hot plate, rice & noodle and soup & stews. Banchan can be refilled once for free. We opted for medium spice (which was extremely mild). - Banchan - glazed potatoes (standard), kimchi (good kick) and bean sprouts (refreshing). - Seafood pancake ($25.99 large) - decent. - Chicken wings ($10.99) and boneless chicken balls ($11.99 for 7) - wings were standard, balls didn't have much of a crispy bite. - Pork bone hotpot ($37.99 small) - came with two bowls of rice. Reasonable amount of pork with a few potatoes, jalapeños and green onions. Broth was light and lacked depth. - Galbi beef short-rib hot plate ($29.99) - came with a salad. Short ribs were tender and juicy. - Bulgogi stir fried udon ($16.99) - the udon didn't have much texture, sauce wasn't satisfying. Skip it. - Seafood soft tofu stew ($15.99) - good amount of tofu but the broth was one-dimensional. Have had much better sundubu jjigae. Not bad but nothing exciting at DKC to warrant a return visit.

It is very thick (thicker than a slice of pizza), very delicious, and filled with seafood variety. My favourite part however is the sauce. I have no idea what they put in it but it is sweet, sour, and pairs so nicely to cut the greasiness of the pancake. Next, I always choose to order a soup when I come to So Hyang. They have a great spicy tofu soup! This time around, we went for non-spicy soybean soup as my friend can't handle spice. It was still flavourful and hearty for the soul, especially on a cold day. Finally, my next favourite pick is the bossam or pork belly. The great thing about the pork belly here is that they come with a variety of sides. I like the varieties of pickled vegetables as well as the special shrimp krill mixture (that I can't recall the name of) that they don't serve all the time at other restaurants. The bossam is guaranteed to give you a satisfying flavour and texture explosion. These 3 dishes were enough to stuff my friend and I AND give us leftovers for another two people. Although the food came out to be $50 per person, it did not feel like a lot as we had so much left to take home. The rib fingers are tender, while the spicy pork belly make for a good lettuce wrap with the kimchi and bean sprouts they also put on the grill. To wrap it up, the fried rice is cooked after all of the meat, so the rice can soak up the flavors and grease from meat left on the grill. Pretty tasty overall. Also you get 8 banchans for table.
