Spicy chicken rice bowl
Kevin C.

One final food stop before we depart to go back home. Stopped by this Korean bbq rice bowl place on Robson St. They have quite a selection of rice bowl dishes ranging from pork katsu curry to fried chicken with garlic sauce. My son got the pork katsu curry rice bowl which also comes with a small portion of noodle and salad and 1 Gyoza. My son enjoyed it as the chicken is very crispy and the curry sauce oozes right over the rice and the portion is generous. My wife got the spicy chicken rice bowl and too that portion is amazingly large and definitely would be enough for any one individual. This place offers a few table seatings along with high tops. Very good point and would recommend if you want something other than Japanese joints nearby.

Spicy Chicken Bowl to go

Pelicana is situated along other Asian restaurants in Robson St. but I definitely would not ignore it. I needed a quick hot lunch and the service was fast and friendly. Their spicy chicken bowl is a perfect lunch meal, the chicken was tender, the sauce was flavorful and not overly spicy, the japchae was seasoned well with sesame, and the salad on the side offered a nice refreshing taste and added texture to the meal. I would definitely come back to try the fried chicken! Pro tip for travelers: The credit card machine will ask you whether you wanna charge in your currency or in Canadian dollars. Always do CAD unless your cc charges foreign fees!

We ordered a set with gimbap, tteokbokki, and noodles. The gimbap was generously stuffed with colorful vegetables and rice, wrapped tightly in seaweed and sliced nicely, fresh, clean flavors, and perfect for sharing. The tteokbokki had that classic sweet-and-spicy sauce, with chewy rice cakes that really hit the spot (comfort food at its best). The noodles were light but surprisingly satisfying, served warm and simply topped, a great balance alongside the richer, spicy dish. Everything came out neatly on a tray, which made it feel casual and fun, like a cozy quick meal you'd come back to often. Overall, Nomnom Seoul is a great spot for an easy, comforting bite with friends. Simple Korean favorites done well, with good portions and a relaxed vibe. I'd happily return again

I walked quite a bit from downtown Robson and arrived, but there were quite a few customers inside the store. The most popular online Tteokbokki is sweet and salty, with an addictive taste. Kimbab was quite voluminous and I could only eat half of it. The cold noodles were no soup and had a lot of vegetables in the them. There are many other things I want to try, so I definitely want to come back here.

This unassuming stall inside of the Robson Public Market brought my tastebuds back to Busan…read more Both the chef and cashier were super helpful and nice. They answered all my questions and offered recommendations, and were very welcoming. Nam San seems to be very popular for their Soondae (blood sausage). However, I've never really tried Soondae before and I was feeling nauseous on the day of my visit--so I opted for something more mild and less "adventurous" instead. I will definitely be back to try their Soondae next time though. Daeji Gukbap 10/10 This boiled bowl of stew was exactly what my upset tummy needed. The creamy broth warmed me right up and soothed my stomach so well. It was the only thing I was able to keep down in two days. There was also a generous amount of tender and flavourful pork inside. This bowl of stew honestly reminded me so much of the one we tried in Busan. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes stews. There was no gaminess at all, and yet the soup was still so full of flavour. Absolutely delicious. Have you guys tried this hidden gem yet? 10/10 ‍10/10 $ ($15-$18/set) Nam San Korean Cuisine | 1610 Robson St, Vancouver

So this place now operates under the name Nam San but is still an absolute gem. One of the three…read moreremaining stalls in the Robson Public Market food court, Nam San specializes in pork offal and homemade Korean blood sausage (soondae), incorporated into a variety of dishes. I always order the same thing, a mixed pork offal and soondae soup. You can choose the spiciness level when you order but they also offer red pepper flakes and fish sauce on the side to add to taste. It comes in small and large, with a side of pickled radish, roasted seaweed, and white rice. Even with the small, you get a lot of meat in the hot stone bowl and it is so comforting. The offal is super tender but the star here is definitely the soondae. Pork blood and vermicelli with spices are encased in an intestine casing, making for a unique springy texture. It's even more tasty when you dip into their homemade fish sauce and the stew warms you to the bone. I love supporting small mom and pop shops, and with how tucked away this place is on the busy Robson strip, I'll definitely make an effort to frequent them time and time again. Please pay them a visit and try their unique offerings out!
