Soy Chicken & Cheese Snow (half and half)
Annie C.

Pleasantly surprised by this Korean fried chicken!! One detail I liked most about this restaurant is ability to choose 2 seasoned flavours for the half and half option instead of original + seasoned as my friend and I both don't really enjoy original Korean fried chicken. Cost us about $20 per person. I enjoyed the Soy flavour a lot. The cheese flavour was okay too, but I preferred the soy. Boneless option is great if you like dark meat! Chicken was fresh, crispy and seasoned well. Comes with pickled radish and a cold corn salad. Cravings satisfied!

I really liked the chicken here. I got a half size with 2 different flavours and my friend did the same so we halfer'd each flavour. Soy, snow cheese, pelicana spicy signature, dak gang jung. All the flavours were really good. You get a good portion of each too so defiantly getting your monies worth. I'd for sure get chicken here again for sure and recommend.

This is the best Korean Fried Chicken I've had. You will never go wrong to order the signature dish. Apart from the chicken, you have to try the snow fries which is highly recommended.

Food was good, quick on service, but the restaurant is a bit dim. Overall, great experience!

Lunch combo x2 ($15.99 per set)

My partner and I opt in for their lunch set, which includes 400g of boneless chicken (4 different sauces to choose from), choice of fries/rice, a side of corn salad, pickled radish and a soft drink. It was only $15.99 per set and the portions were quite hefty. We got the garlic chicken and the original marinated chicken. The sauce to chicken ratio was perfect and the flavours were explosive! The garlic chicken is for ALL GARLIC LOVERS. honestly, if you love garlic, we guarantee you will love this. The original marinated chicken had a sweet glazed with a kick of this unique flavour that we can't really describe. You should just try for yourself. Their boneless chicken was super soft and juicy. We love the fact that it was lightly battered, but maintain its crispiness. We got the opportunity to speak with the owner and learned that they have invested a lot of time and effort into perfecting their chicken. We learned that they had invested their time in finding the perfect part of the chicken to achieve the goal of serving juicy and tendered KFC. Their sauces are straight from Korea, their chicken is delivered daily to ensure freshness, and they change their oil daily to maintain the quality of their chicken. Overall, we can actually taste the effort they have put into their chicken, it definitely tastes fresh and the flavours tastes quite similar to the KFC we've had in Seoul. We're so happy that we finally found a Korean fried chicken joint in Burnaby that we can claim "Our favourite". Covid Protocols: Your information and temperature is taken upon arrival. Full on dividers were installed to separate tables. They also have a bottle of hand sanitizer dispenser at every table! Give us a follow on Instagram to see more of our reviews!

Excited to try this place! We've been in search of a Korean fried chicken place that taste similar to the fried chicken in Korea. The atmosphere and the way the restaurant looks gives it this real authentic Korean hip fried chicken joint feel to it. They have a few different flavours to try. We decided on the original & the garlic. It comes with two side dishes pickled radish & corn Coleslaw. If you've never tried Korean fried chicken it is a staple to have the white pickled radishes. The original chicken had such a good crunch on it. It wasn't greasy and each bite was super crunchy. I do think a side of salt for that one would of been good to add a more salty flavour to one's preference. The garlic one was a super punch of garlic flavour. Really quite tasty! If you're a garlic lover try this one. I really want to come back and try the other flavours! The service was good and they even gave us an extra radish on the house. (usually they charge) I guess we got lucky :).

Being a big fried chicken fan, we were super excited to try out this new chain in town but would have to say it fell a little short of the hype. We got the half and half as take out and was originally told the wait time was going to be about 30 minutes but it was closer to 45-50 minutes. The original was breaded well and the original marinated had a good amount of zing to it but I felt that I've had other fried chicken places in the neighbourhood that were more fresh and the chicken more crunchy. Overall, not bad however not sure if it was worth the wait.

Crispy fried chicken (part of their $15.99 lunch set)

There's a new(ish) fried chicken place in townnnn! Pelicana Chicken is located right beside Red Robin (close to Lougheed Town Centre). My bro and I were curious about their $15.99 so we each ordered a set to try. He got the Garlic Fried Chicken and I opted for the Crispy Fried Chicken. As I suspected the Garlic Fried Chicken was definitely much stronger in flavour, bursting with garlicky goodness. I think garlic fans would really enjoy this one. It's flavourful but not like "in your face" kinda flavour. Defs better than Kosoo's garlic ones. The Crispy Fried Chicken, on the other hand, reminded me more of Church's chicken - just as tender but not quite as greasy. The lunch set came with a choice of fries/rice and a drink. The fries were pretty yummy - the closest in texture would probably be Costco fries. Overall, I'd defs recommend for those who are interested in getting a decently priced Korean fried chicken meal that goes beyond just the chicken. Plus, it was pretty filling so don't worry about eating for the next several hours!

One of my favourite Korean chicken place. Just like original taste. Highly recommended! We got secret sauce half and soy sauce chicken half.

Rosé rice cake, green onion and cheese fried chicken
Donna L.

Delicious, juicy and super filling. I enjoyed their rose flavoured rice cake, which is the traditional mixed with some cream to make it less spicy. The green onion fried chicken is my usual go to item and they did not disappoint. The cheese fried chicken was interesting, but it didn't suit my palette. They were very friendly!

Snowing Cheese fried chicken

Definitely one of the best KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) you can find in Metro Vancouver. The wait was long cuz they had a new staff in the kitchen that day, but it was worth the wait. Chicken was crispy even the saucey ones. Batter was fluffy and airy.

Soy fried chicken

I heard this chain is really popular so I was excited but it ended up being just average. Our order got super delayed but our server was really nice and came and updated us and gave us some fries on the house. The spicy chicken was too spicy for me! I couldn't even have a bite but for my friends it wasn't spicy enough haha... if you can only usually take mild/medium stick to the non spicy chicken. Soy chicken was good but nothing extraordinary. With so many chicken places around this one didn't stand out to me.

Half half chicken

The first time I ordered from this place, I was super amazed because it tasted so good! But the second time I went, I think that some pieces were kind of cold and others were hot. I give them a 4/5 because of lack of consistency but other than that, was super impressed! Pretty decent portion sizes + spacious seating area!

I was…read morepleasantly surprised to discover that Soju is quite spacious inside and that it actually has a cozy ambiance for happy hour drinks. Service was pretty quick when I visited, wasn't too busy with about three other tables of diners. Food-wise: their prices and portions are quite reasonable but I have yet to discover my favorite menu item or their best dishes as taste for bulgogi was just okay. Overall, their weekday lunch special is good value. Though their food on my first visit wasn't especially memorable, their spacious interior + modern ambience + efficient service + good value and free parking brings them up from 3.5 stars to a 4 stars rating since this is a place I would definitely consider visiting again to try other dishes. And I am hopeful about finding items to my liking because they offer a fairly diverse food and drinks menu.

It's simply decorated with Soju bottles or posters of Korean pop stars or actors. Love the casual and laid back vibe! There is a bell on the table if you need attention from the servers, and they are usually pretty efficient and fast when it is rung. We saw that there was a $9.99 combo deal and everyone at our table was shocked. We all ordered that. The combo comes with your choice of a noodle dish (Jajangmyeon or Black Bean noodles, Korean udon, or Spicy Cold noodles) and a Beef Bulgogi on the side. I ordered the Jajangmyeon with the Beef Bulgogi and it was great! I enjoyed the nice chew from the noodles and the Black Bean sauce was flavoured well. I was pleased to find chunks of pork in the noodles also. The Beef Bulgogi was a little watery, but tasted sweet and tender. All that food for $9.99. That's unheard of in this economy and in these times! Amazing. We'll definitely return as we saw other great deals on the menu also!

I dont really like jambong, so I'm super glad 88 noodle house lets you choose 2 jjajangmyeon! Perfect combo. For the meat dish, you can get tangsuyuk or gganpunggi. We chose the gganpunggi (sweet chili chicken). Jjajangmyeon was ok. Nothing too special about it. Good portions. The gganpunggi was also a good portion! However, I found that it was mostly batter, and since they use a mix of tapioca starch and other as breading, it gets jello-y when not completely cooked. The flavor was really good, but I was disappointed with the batter to chicken ratio. I will continue my search for this type of combo!

We always get the black bean noodles. Flavour is consistent, tasty, and it comes out quick and hot from the kitchen. We rotate between the sweet chili chicken and the sweet and sour pork. This time we got the sweet chili chicken. Flavour is good and comes piping hot and crispy. However, I did find the breading a bit heavy and there is a lot of fat in the layers. Same goes for the sweet and sour pork. I love their coating and the flavour is great, but sometimes I just get a coated piece of fat which is a bit off-putting. We also like the japchae, but find it has a bit too much onion for us. Ok cold nights we like to get the 88 noodle soup. Hot, peppery, slightly spicy. Goes well with the pickles they give you. Service is always quick and polite. No issues there. And the seating is spacious with lots of booth seating.

We also got prime grade beef short ribs, marinated short ribs, and brisket point. I would say this can easily be shared by 4 people because it's a lot of food! We ate all the meat but had a lot of the soup and rice left. It was $140 for all of that which when split is pretty good! My favourite was their brisket point. Their soup was also veryyy comforting!! My other two friends got their glass noodles and Korean pancakes. The glass noodles were delicious!! Very flavourful. The pancakes I thought were a little too oily. I would definitely come back!
