    Dae-Ji Spicy Cheese Pork Cutlet
    Makenzie D.

I've eaten here a few times now and have been impressed by the consistency of their pork cutlet. While I haven't had the pleasure of trying this food in house, I have had take out about four times now and each time I have ordered the Spicy Cheese pork cutlet. I obviously cannot get enough of it! I find that when a restaurant advertises their dish as spicy, it doesn't really accurately depict that word in flavour. However, this dish is genuinely spicy!! And it's incredibly well priced for the amount of food that you get: two cutlets, a side of rice, coleslaw, and macaroni. The pork cutlet is tender and breaded, smothered in cheese and spicy gravy. Yum! I am very pleased with this food. Just note that it is very fast food like so it is greasy.

Not wow. I didn't like the number 1 - original pork chop with gravy. It tasted like some cheap dry-fried porkchop that just came from a cheap all you can eat restaurant (the gravy reminded me of Uncle Willy). So this is a Korean porkchop restaurant. My meal before tax and tip was $10.99 but I don't think its worth that price for the flavor. It came with sides. One of the sides was macaroni in mayo sriracha sauce. When I first saw it, I was like what weird cheesy color look it has. Then I was like eww. I don't take spice. The decor is on the lower end. The place needs to be renovated. Floor and walls are dirty or tire looking. Also the menu had a lot of items not available (see my picture). Server there doesn't speak fluent English but she does understand. I don't think I will go back.

This place was alright. I expected something different when the pork katsu was with cheese, but I got the spicy sauce which gave an interesting twist to it. However the katsu was just alright, it wasn't amazing, but it was good enough. The major concern was that they don't accept U.S. cards, they didn't specify that in the sign they had up front, so they forced us to use u.s. cash and said it's one to one. Meaning whatever our price of $28 in Canadian we had to pay $28 in U.S. would have been a 4 star cause the food wasn't bad and I liked the scenery; however, they basically stole my money.

Soy chicken (with bones) and with extra potatoes (though they were more like chips)

Making good fried chicken seems to be a bit of an art. You need the chicken to be perfectly moist on the inside and yet stay relatively crisp on the outside. Dae-ji's soy chicken checks off these two boxes, and to boot, the sauce is amazing Quick disclaimer though: not every location makes the fried chicken the same. I've definitely noticed that the Dae-ji near Metrotown has some pretty dry chicken. The Dae-ji on Dunsmuir (and the one on North Rd.) definitely does it better. And one more note: Their "potatoes" are literally like chips instead of the usual potato slices haha. Another thing is this location is definitely a lot smaller than other ones, so this isn't going to be a quick in and out sort of meal unless you get a cutlet meal maybe.

I used to go to Dae-Ji a lot for lunch until I got sick from raw chicken in my fried rice (almost a year ago). Decided to give this place another try because my friend wanted to have "Korean fast food". The food here is just ... meh for me now‍. Probably because I still remember how sick I was. But the price and the portion are good thou. We had Kimchi Fried rice and Pork Cutlet.

Managed to convince my coworkers to come visit this place with me for lunch. Right when we got there, the place was filled already and there was only one table left so they made us wait. Shortly after though, someone came after us and got seated at that table. It wouldn't have been a big issue but the table that we ended up waiting 20 mins for ended up being a two-person table anyways in which they just added an extra seat on the side for the third person...so not sure why they would make us wait the extra time when we ended up getting the same size table anyways.... Don't expect speedy service on a weekday lunch since there's only one person in the kitchen and one person taking orders and serving I got the original pork cutlet which is great at first since the cutlet is just out of the fryer but after a while, it becomes soggy due to the gravy that's poured over the cutlet. My coworker got the fish cutlet and since that doesn't come with gravy, the cutlet is nice and crispy until the end of the meal. The portions were quite filling; I didn't finish all of my rice nor the sides for my lunch meal. Definitely decently priced for what you paid for but there's better options for korean food in the downtown area.

So rumour had it here Dae-Ji makes a decent cutlet, so there was only 1 way to find out. Parking is all metered here, which is bad. However, there may be a loading bay or two in the area. The interior looked a little worn down, but it felt nice and bright. Mostly because of the orange walls. The restuarant was almost completely full.. of Koreans. Authenticity test - check. The tables are all small. The largest group you can fit comfortably here is probably 5. Staff were pretty friendly. The eating area was quite narrow. The staff kept bumping into me. I was sitting at the end of a table though. Their classic Dae-Ji cutlet is 2 pieces of breaded pork, crispy on the outside but nice and tender on the inside, and covered in gravy. The dishes come with salad (shredded lettuce with dressing), a bit of macaroni + cheese sauce, corn, and rice. It tasted like comfort food. Portion size was decent, and everything tasted good, including the rice. I also tried some of the spicy cutlet. This is the same cutlet, but covered with mozzarella cheese and a bit of spicy sauce. Also tasty. One thing I noticed while eating here was that a lot of the other (Korean) customers were going for the fried chicken. Maybe someone can chime in on this one. Overall, my friends and I left happy.

    Pork Cutlet Curry Rice ($8.50)

After a long day of exploring downtown and attending Doors Open Vancouver, I was exhausted and saw this place. I was craving Korean food as well, so this was the perfect place to try out. The service was good. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it got the job done. Food wise, I got the pork cutlet curry rice. I really enjoyed the pork cutlet itself. It was fried perfectly. The portion was huge for the price! With the combo, it also had two different sides of macaroni and some cabbage on the side. If you're looking for a place that won't break your wallet, come here! It's worth a try. P.S. Make sure you bring cash or a debit card!

Excellent Korean fried chicken. Their kimchi fried rice is also amazing. Definitely a great spot for some authentic taste of Korean cuisine :) my favorite is Pa Dak, goes very well with beer!

Their mission is to serve up comfort food, and I think DaeJi accomplishes that well. They're a small diner-like Korean restaurant with a pretty interesting menu. Beyond tonkatsu, curry dishes, and kimchi fried rice, they also serve up crazy hamburger steak plates. In hindsight, I should have tried a pork cutlet dish or kimchi fried rice as they're listed as their specialty, but the hamburger steak plate just called my name. At $10, I think it's fair considering the huge portions. The food certainly isn't the best I've had, but the food was good flavours reminds me something sort of homey. I had the Mushroom Hamburger Steak. The gravy was nice and thick (which is the way I like gravy, so spot on!). It was savoury, but it also had this nice sweetness to it. The hamburger steaks were ridiculously huge and tender. The macaroni was a surprise but it was really nice and refreshing contrast to the heavy hamburger steaks. It's worth checking out, and I know I'll be back!

I visited this restaurant at it's Coquitlam location off North Rd. The decor is really cute. I had the kimchi fried rice with a side order or fish and chicken cutlet. THe cutlets are covered in panko bread crumbs and fried. However, the cutlets were not greasy. They come with a homemade tartar sauce, which is absolutely delicious. My dad had the curry pork cutlet on rice. It was ok but a bit too saucy for me. Both of us had enough for left-overs, which is great for the value. I would definitely go back if I was in the mood for chicken, pork, or fish cutlets.

Daeji is a Korean restaurant which is closeby my office. I came here with a coworker to get some Korean food we had been craving. There aren't too many Korean restaurants in the area but it was too far to travel down Rosbon today so we kept it closeby. The place itself looks quite rundown, and probably needs a good renovation to attract more people. I usually don't have a problem with rundown places (they usually have better food) but I did see a fairly big bug climbing up the wall which creeped the crap out of me because it was right by the kitchen (which is in the open area and no behind another door). That was a turnoff so we decided to move to a table near the window so we wouldn't have that issue. We ordered two dishes, a kimchi fried rice and a pork cutlet which were both pretty good. The portion was really big for each dish, which was $9.99 so that made the experience much better after our previous encounter. The food is so rich though so it may leave you with a bit of a bloated feeling if you each too much so 1-2 dishes is more than enough for two people. It does taste really good, so keep both of those options in mind to resist the temptation of eating too much! Overall, I give my experience 3 stars. The good portions and overall taste were overshadowed by the discomfort of the uncleanliness of the establishment. I would come back to another location and see how that experience compares.

I tried the original port cutlet. The pork was fried nicely but I'm not a huge fan of the gravy as it became a weird texture after the food cooled down a bit. The dish came with some sides which included the spicy macaroni - and I mean they were spicy! Good portion for the price. Definitely fills you up. Interior is dated. This is a really popular place to grab food for students. There was a line outside starting at around noon. They only take cash and debit cards.

We ordered a set with gimbap, tteokbokki, and noodles. The tteokbokki had that classic sweet-and-spicy sauce, with chewy rice cakes that really hit the spot (comfort food at its best). The noodles were light but surprisingly satisfying, served warm and simply topped, a great balance alongside the richer, spicy dish.
