two plates of food on a table

Day 23 of posting daily Yelp Reviews that rhyme Ga Hyang Ru, a place to dine, In North Vancouver, BC, it's super fine. The food was extremely tasty, it's true, Korean food, I ordered jajangmyeon but also fried chicken, too. Great service, and they even had green tea, It's a nice touch, it's not hard to see. However, I do wish for some appetizers to munch, But the main dishes were excellent, such a crunch. Ga Hyang Ru, a 4-star rate, With food this good, i'd give it an 8. The servers were nice people, there was only 2 Ga Hyang Ru, a must-try if you want something new!

This lovely restaurant locates in the corner of Lonsdale and 12th W St. My first impression is the friendliness of the owner and staffs. They are so bubbly and welcoming. I ordered deep fried chicken, spicy black bean noodle and kimchi fried rice. The everage price is $12 (for regular size). The portion is huge that I ended up taking home 3 to-go boxes. Kimchi fried rice is ok but the other two dishes are superb, especially the fried chicken. The patio gets crowded by 7PM (store closed at 9PM).

Every time I'm in North Vancouver, I'll go here. It used to be another Korean restaurant called Ham Ji Bak. This place is comparable to that. Highly recommend. If only they have one closer to Richmond, Vancouver, and Burnaby. Koon Man Du ($13cad) is a deep fried dumplings with pork and vegetables. It has 10pcs. The dumplings were super delicious. It was perfectly fried. Must order item! The pork was flavourful. Ja Jang Myun (R: $8.90cad, L: $11.40cad) is a minced pork and vegetables with black bean sauce on noodles. This is also a must order dish here. The noodles were chewy and the black bean sauce tasted the way I thought it would be. This place has the best JJM so far. Kan Poong Ki (R: $20.50cad, L: $26.50cad) is a deep fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce. For those who can't take spicy, you have been warned. The chicken was also perfectly fried and delicious as well. Overall, I love this place. Too bad it's far from where I live or I would come here regularly. The service is not the best, but I come here for the food only. It may take a few waving for them to actually notice you. The place is fairly clean.

Classic hole-in-the-wall that's a hidden gem! Seriously good dishes, large portions, and fast service. Make sure to order the sweet and spicy chicken (it's got some heat that kicks in after a bit, but not too harsh). So glad my friend showed me this place! I wish I lived closer to West Van.

My boyfriend and I were really hungry and was looking for Korean food in North Vancouver. We found Ham Ji Bak and decided we were going to walk up from Lonsdale Quay. That was extremely foolish of us because it was an incline walk, and we were even more hungry and dehydrated than before. The Kanpoongki took a while to cook, but the wait was so worth it. It was so crispy and flavorful! My mapo tofu on the other hand was really disappointing because it was very bland. I'm being generous with my rating because prior to going to Canada for vacation, I became addicted to mapo tofu cooked szechuan style. Ham Ji Bak's mapo tofu was just tamed. We did end up coming back for more kanpoongki, and also got the pork version. The pork version was just as good but we were thrown off by some of the pieces that were undercooked, afterall it is pork.

Amazing Korean noodles and homemade dishes. The deep fried pork is also the best I've tried recently!

Not as good as the last time we came. Food was good overall but service fell short somewhat…read more Came here with family. We all ordered our own individual dishes. I just had an Original Gimbap and a Vege Gimbap for myself. It was a hot summer's day so I just didn't feel like ordering hot food. Everyone else ordered hot food though. My daughter has been getting into Tonkatsu at Japanese restaurants for awhile now. So when she saw Chicken Katsu on the menu here, she decided to give that a try. It was just OK for her. No comparison to any of the pork Tonkatsu dishes that she's been having at Japanese restaurants. She still ate it all up though and it was a huge portion. Other dishes on the table included Seafood Noodles, Pork Kimchi Stew, Soft Tofu Stew, Fried Chicken, and Kimchi Fried Rice. My one gripe would be that they took a super long time bringing out my daughter's Chicken Katsu. Everyone else had their food for quite awhile but she sat waiting and waiting for her Chicken Katsu. When we asked about it, they said it was coming soon. But that's what they always say when you ask about something that's taking a long time to come, right? Wondering if they actually completely forgot about it and then put in a rush order at the kitchen when we brought it up.

Great little neighbourhood spot for Korean food at lunch…read more I stopped by with coworkers and this place is a solid 4/5. Favorite item was the pork belly with kimchi. It's over fire on a hotplate/pan with the meat all around and kimchi in the middle. Perfect with rice or on it's on. The Japchae had plenty of beef and veggies. The potato noodles weren't overcooked and was a great consistency. The seafood tofu soup was favorful with clams and mussels. The raw beef was too frozen and needed to sit out longer. However, the flavor was still good, but I don't know if I'd order it again. The service was excellent and attentive.

We waited about 10 mins for a table on a weekend around 12:30pm. #1- blood sausage and organ soup: you can choose the spice level for this one and we went with mild. Probably could go for medium next time. It came bubbling hot and was served with rice. The soup was flavourful and comforting. The blood sausage was wrapped with an intestine which is something I haven't had before. So this was unique. The organ meats were tender as well. Seafood pancake: on the pricier side but I can see why. It was served piping hot and super crisp. It had plenty of seafood and even glass noodles inside. Again, a unique touch. The pancake was not sought at all and the seafood inside was tender. Banchan: kimchi radish was solid and refreshing. The fishcakes were marinated in something different than other places and was tender. Very delicious! The last banchan I'm not sure what it's called but it's also kind of a pickled onion and veg sort of thing. Overall, a really good meal and I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area and craving something comforting. Service was good and food came out quick.

We ordered a set with gimbap, tteokbokki, and noodles. The gimbap was generously stuffed with colorful vegetables and rice, wrapped tightly in seaweed and sliced nicely, fresh, clean flavors, and perfect for sharing. The tteokbokki had that classic sweet-and-spicy sauce, with chewy rice cakes that really hit the spot (comfort food at its best). The noodles were light but surprisingly satisfying, served warm and simply topped, a great balance alongside the richer, spicy dish. Everything came out neatly on a tray, which made it feel casual and fun, like a cozy quick meal you'd come back to often. Overall, Nomnom Seoul is a great spot for an easy, comforting bite with friends. Simple Korean favorites done well, with good portions and a relaxed vibe. I'd happily return again

I walked quite a bit from downtown Robson and arrived, but there were quite a few customers inside the store. The most popular online Tteokbokki is sweet and salty, with an addictive taste. Kimbab was quite voluminous and I could only eat half of it. The cold noodles were no soup and had a lot of vegetables in the them. There are many other things I want to try, so I definitely want to come back here.
