May 2024 - Party of 11 on a Saturday around 530pm. TLDR, 5 stars for the food that was perfectly cooked and delicious. Minus 2 for the service. Fireplace fumes were not appealing to smell. Tritip sauce spilled all over the table, chair, and my clothes. Staff said "oh sorry for the little drip". If I hadn't moved, it would've been much more "drip" on my belongings. For the price point, I expected a much better dining experience and I'm pretty disappointed with the overall service and ambiance. Food/Pricing - Mega Meal - $180 The chicken was tender and skin had a yummy crunch. Ribs were fall off the bone. Tritip was medium rare and perfect. Mashed potatoes looked unassuming but had some great crispy parts and were yum. Also enjoyed the Caesar salad and bread sticks. Service/Ambiance - Seated outside next to the fireplace. Not ideal since you can smell the gas coming out of it but the alternative would've been to wait 45 minutes for an indoor table. It was very loud and echoed. Every time someone moved a metal chair it made a horrid screeching sound on the cement floor. The plate used for the meat looks like a flat tin pizza tray... Of course sauce would spill everywhere. Presentation didn't do the food justice. They bring you empty cups. Guests have to grab their own water, soda, plates, and utensils/ napkins. This wasn't explained to us so we were confused for a bit. Runners were very confused and came up to our table multiple times to ask if we ordered a cake, salad, or meat. My daughter and I shared the Caprese sandwich with the Strawberry Walnut salad. it was very big enough for two regular appetites. My grandson had the mac & cheese and of course we had to and it was amazing. The oranges were more like a tangerine orange. They were very good too. We also had the carrot cake and the blueberry cheesecake that I did not take a picture of either but they were huge pieces and I have to mention the carrot cake as a must-have. If you aren't aware of the service when you get there, you can order at the counter or sit at the table scan the barcode order from your phone and boom bar Bing. They bring a cheer table although you'll have to get your own plates, utensils, napkins, and beverage you'll also need to get your own , takeout box or all the beverages and condiments are located. We ordered our main meal at the counter and from the table we added our dessert and coffee. I did have to get up because it took a while for them to bring the dessert. The feel of the place, reminds me of Cheese Cake Factory. Very family-friendly and I think it would be great for a large group. They have outdoor seating that is well covered in case of bad weather, but it's very open and appealing. read more

Very nice location and plenty of seating but super hard to find parking cause the lot is pretty small. Would recommend ordering first at the counter since there's no servers going around to help when needed, literally the only times we saw them was when they brought out our food. I got their Alfresto in shareable size which came out to about $21. The chicken was very dry and the pasta was lacking in the flavor department. Wouldn't really be able to tell the alfredo and pesto apart if it wasn't bc of the color. Maybe I'll stick to their bbq next time. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am an avid SFG customer. One thing that is usually noteworthy, is the consistency and quality. Im disappointed to say that this location was lacking those exact qualities. After a long day out in the sun, we were excited to have our meal of triumph. You can imagine our surprise when we order our usual, fiesta bowl, garlic chicken, mash potato, bbq ribs and white pizza and realize on the first bite that this was a waste of money. I'm surprised that this location is still in business. The mash potatoes, dry and very obviously old. Fiesta bowl, soggy and stale. Chicken, overcooked. Ribs, mystery meat with no sauce. The only thing worth while was the pizza. I'm not even sure if I really even liked the pizza, but everything else was so horrible that the pizza tasted decent. In simple terms I feel robbed and want my money back for the atrocious meal we consumed. read more

One of my favorite fast casual restaurants for sure. We come here when we are wanting something that we can pretend is healthier than other fast food joints. Another review said the price is akin to that of a michelin star place - it makes me wonder what they are gtting. I always found it to be a good value, but I've only ordered just specials/combo deals. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Service has always been fast and friendly. We love the Cobb Salad they have here. I love the original Cobb salad, and it's pretty much the classic version with a few twists. Instead of chicken, you can get tri-tip which is really tasty. And their dressing for the Cobb salad is really tangy and herby, unlike other Cobb salads I have. On other occasions, we have ordered the Stimulus Package, which includes a whole chicken or half a tri-tip (we preferred the tri-tip, but the bbq chicken was pretty good too), a pizza or pasta, garden salad, and breadsticks for $40. It's a huge meal and usually lasts at least one more meal. They also have really good lunch specials from $10 to $15. I enjoyed my $15 baby back rib lunch, which came with a choice of side and breadsticks. read more

I am so happy to have Stonefire Grill within my area ( Pasadena/ Sierra Madre); this has become our " go to" place for good, fresh food choices. The place itself is so convenient, ideal for family / group setting ..portion and serving size is definitely reasonably good size and priced. To feed a family nowadays with good and sumptious meal is quite a lot for many families .. having a place like Stonefire Grill makes everything possible for our community . I just hope that quality and costs are maintained to provide good and high quality food while being affordable. Additionally, the employees/ staff are very friendly and helpful. Oftentimes , elderlies are seen eating either in a small group or alone by themselves.. the service provided by the staff is awesome; checking oftentimes these folks if there is anything else needed... just awesome gesture of respect and caring. All the salad were good, but my to recommendation are the BBQ Chopped salad and South of the Border. The salad comes with a breadstick and keep in mind that you cannot go wrong with these salads. For the BBQ, I always like the Ribs, Tri-tip and Garlic Chicken. All of the meat, except the Tri-tip because it'a a lean cut, are juicy and flavorful. One special item that I always order is the Roasted Cauliflower. This dish will definitely throw you a little bit curve of what are you missing out. The service is always top notch. Be warned that sometimes the restaurant is busy, specially during lunch and dinner hours. So, it is best to order online through their website or call ahead. They brought our food orders and periodically food servers would come by and ask if we needed anything else. The food was also quite delicious. Avoid at any cost. They are disorganized, they deliver the food much later than promised. I had a very simple order of two pizzas and a salad and I had to wait longer than 30 minutes for my order. Chose chicken (with lemon and garlic, it's the best option) and ribs (the tri tip is always dry but I haven't had it in 3 years so not sure if it has changed). The lemon garlic chicken is delicious and juicy! The ribs were also very good and not dry! Something I forgot about dining here, is the utensils, napkins, plates, and boxes are all self-serve. They have it out in the middle for you to get yourself. So if you are wondering why the utensils aren't brought to you, it's cause you need to get it yourself! This location is the best cause it is big and has a variety of options for seating. Bathrooms are clean but sort of dimly lit. 4 stars I ordered via Postmates, so price is reflective of that. Postmates price for the Stimulus Package is $46 before tax and tip. Luckily, I got a discount from Postmates. I would still pay full price for this with or without a discount. The Stimulus Package consists of Tri tip, 12" 2-topping pizza, a salad, and 8-piece garlic bread. The package is pretty big and can easily feed 4-5 people. If you've got a group of big eaters, it might be good for 3 people. The Tri tip is nice and tender. I opted for half mesquite bbq and half gorgonzola butter. I preferred bbq over gorgonzola. The pizza was delicious to me, but the chewiness reminds of Costco's pizza for some reason... Chose Caesar Salad and I thought it was good, not soggy. The garlic breadsticks are really good. Perfect for garlic lovers. I do recommend ordering this if you're looking to feed a group of 4-5 people. Kudos to my driver, Xiumei, for being amazing! Had lunch here with my partner and we enjoyed it! Service was great and we got to order right away when we entered. Utensils and drinks are easily available and you need to get on your own. I have no complaints and will be coming back. The prices are very reasonable and it was very quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. On a Saturday afternoon in September, I decided on a solo lunch here. It's been a long time that I actually ate inside. I arrived at 11am and waited in line to order. As I was waiting in line, they expanded with more appetizers, sandwiches, and tacos. I decided to stick to my usual garlic 1/4 chicken with tri tip, Caesar salad, 2 bread sticks. It was nice to get my own drink and utensils and plates. The wait for the wasn't too long. The garlic chicken was moist and juicy. I also took a bite of the tri tip and it was tender but it needed more bbq sauce on top. My fav items was the bread sticks and Caesar salad. They also very good A/C to escape the heat. I took my family here for dinner because my catering experience with another location was so pleasant. We ordered entrees and appetizers. They came out in the wrong order so we almost didn't have enough room on the table. I personally had the bbq tri tip and 1/4 grilled chicken. I had to send it back because it was cold. All they did was reheat the entire tray in the oven instead of making fresh. Bad call. My Caesar salad was flavorless and my Mac n cheese tasted old. The only reason I gave two stars was because the staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and they had ginger ale on tap. Other than that, we have no desire to revisit this location. This is my go to spot for a family meal on a weeknight. I always get the family meal for 6 with tri tip. It is plenty of food for 6 people. Food is always hot and freshly made. First time trying Stonefire Grill tonight. My friend suggested it because she loves their BBQ chicken salad. To be fair, we got it to-go and sometime food doesn't travel well. But I figured I couldn't go wrong with 6 oz. medium-cook tri-tip meal with corn on the cob as my side. When I took container out of bag, I was like "where's my meal?" It was 6 slices of meat the length of my thumb, and 2 end pieces that were more gristle than meat. The portion fit comfortably in the palm of my hand. (wish I had taken a pic) The sauce was dried out. The meat was dry and tough, probably wasn't sliced against the grain. The flavor was good albeit a bit spicy. I put salad dressing on it to give it some moisture. The corn on the cob was half a cob, with a quarter-sized section missing the kernels from poor growth. The breadsticks were great, thank goodness. I would've been hungry without them. All this cost about 20 bucks for what was probably less than $2 in food costs, based on the portions I got. Impressive mark-up. I won't be back. It's L.A. / Cali, too many places here to get good tri-tip. read more
