Just came back from dinner. Holy cow - this place is terrific! Here in Denver on business. My co-worker noticed the restaurant. We arrived without reservations, on a Sat evening, to discover that the first available seating was in three hours(!) but if we wanted to sit at the counter (3 spots) rather than a table or booth, we could be seated immediately. We did. Best decision ever. You get to watch the executive chef, Elise Wiggins, and her staff, prepare the food. It's like experiencing a symphony orchestra that's been playing excellent music for years. I won't go through the specifics of what we ordered and ate but all of it was superb. Make sure to read the back of the menu to note their commitment to sustainability and organic foods. It's not the cheapest place in town, but for the quality of the food, the excellence of the service, and the sheer joy of watching a hard working cooking staff at the top of their game (and thoroughly enjoying their work), I've not been to a restaurant that compares. If you go, skip the booth or table, grab a stool at the counter. I wouldn't be surprised if they soon started charging extra for those seats! read more

Sorry Panzano, this review is long overdue. How could I not review the restaurant that has become our go-to place? Service is always top notch and the food never disappoints. I've come here a couple of times when the line at Snooze was just too long and then I wondered why I didn't just come here in the first place. It's a little off the beaten path, and that's a good thing. We only had to wait one night because of a prom or something. I was immediately annoyed by the wait but the hostess convinced my grumpy self to sit at the bar. The bartender was great, the meal superb and the night was a smashing success. read more

Would give it a 4.5 out of 5 if I could. Well not much I can say that hasn't been said before, we just had a really good all around dinner here. Greats: -Brussel sprouts were as advertised, delish -Special for the night, house made sausage stuffed fresh raviolis w/red sauce -Grilled cesar salad (added a side of fried capers) -Gluten free menu with VERY thorough allergen service the whole evening (they have a GF focaccia bread but no GF pastas) Goods: -Calamari app -GF veal scallopini -Creme Brule -Cappuccino -Chicken Scallopini (the roasted tomatoes made the dish) -Pastiche We had an early dinner reservation as we had a show later but there was a slight delay in being seated and then the wait staff getting to us (they were apparently tasting the specials for the night). Service speed/attentiveness was great after that. I did find our waiter a bit quiet, almost distracted, but if you asked any questions he spent plenty of time explaining. It just felt awkward. Like he couldn't find the balance between letting us enjoy our dinner as a group versus giving us plenty of info as a first time customers. It was nice having valet parking downtown (they will validate your ticket for Hotel Monaco valet). I was impressed with the waiters knowledge on allergens and their consistency through the evening in making sure everything I got was gluten free with no reminders needed. Serving sizes seemed fine, especially if you have salad or appetizer beforehand. Its definitely not like the giant plates in american italian restaurants, but I would rather quality/organics over quantity. Would love to try the happy hour in the bar, seems like a great way to try quite a few of their plates in miniature. read more

I did, three nights in a row, as I stayed at the hotel for business the week of April 22 and it was so wonderful each night that I was hard-pressed to inconvenience myself to go elsewhere. During my three night stint, I had the opportunity to sit at the Kitchen "bar" and witness the food preparation in action, which provided me with a unique and memorable experience. First of all, the kitchen staff is AMAZING!! They were so kind and open to interaction and questions. I had the best time, all by myself. Each server that I encountered over the three days was knowledgeable about all menus: food, bar and wine. Service from both the kitchen and wait staff was impeccable. Everything I tried was superb: From the Appetizers: Cavolini di Bruxelles Fried Brussels sprouts tossed with apple cider reduction, pistachios, rosemary salt and sliced green apple Fiori di Zucca Goat cheese stuffed, tempura fried squash blossoms finished with Maldon Sea Salt, served over tomato fondue, and finished with balsamic reduction, extra-virgin olive oil, and micro basil Salads: Caesar Griglia Grilled hearts of romaine, anchovies, garlic, Parmesan Insalata di Cavolo Nero Grilled black kale, farro, roasted oyster mushrooms, goat cheese, toasted walnuts, honey walnut wheat bread crumbs, dried cranberries, lemon zest, and white balsamic vinaigrette Pasta: Pastiche Layers of spicy meatballs and cheese tortellini baked with ragu and cinnamon custard, savory thyme crust Gnocchi al Coniglio Sauted gnocchi with rabbit confit, leeks, shallots, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and gorgonzola cheese Main: Capesante Pan-seared sea scallops* served over asparagus and prosciutto risotto, finished with a basil leek nage, Italian parsley, and chives My experiences at Panzano each night made this business trip fun and memorable. Had a customer dinner here. Northern Italian fare, very good food, great service - Ron, our waiter, was excellent. He's been working there for 7 years. The place was vibrant, and walking distance from our hotel (Westin Downtown)l Must have's: Brussels sprouts appetizer (ridiculous), and the tomato and sausage soup. They also brought out some duck pate (can't fine the accente on the keyboard!) on toast as little munchies. Excellent, and I don't even like pate! For mains, they recommended the veal carbonara (stacked over mashed potatoes and spinach, with roasted tomatoes), which two of us got, but it was only so-so. The veal was a little over-cooked. Another guy got the chicken/pasta second and said it was awesome. The desserts are great as well, the sorbets were awesome, and they have a nice iPad-based cocktail menu. Btw, Tito's martinis were done perfectly. ;-) I want to go back and get another main course. I think it could be awesome, but I'll refrain until I give it another shot. read more

Superb Absolutely perfect, amazing food and yummy wine (the wine list is on a tablet, you are really able to have a lot of information on each selection). Incredible dining experience. Food was better than our favorite NYC Italian, at (for the quality) a more reasonable price. It is innovative yet classic, and every bit of the entrees were divine. OMG! So good, we stopped by for a happy hour snack and got the Melanzane Fritte (eggplant), calamari, & lamb ragu! Everything was perfectly prepared and tasted great! I've been here twice. The first time my wife and I thought it was overpriced for the quality of food. Went again a few weeks ago with a large group of friends. Several of us ordered the Vitello Bolognese (Braised veal shortrib) at $28. It sounds great, but what we received did not resemble the traditional dish or veal for that matter. You could literally drink the meat through a straw. They must have put it through a blender before pouring the liquid shortrib on the pasta. The table was for the most part unimpressed with their meals. Our initial opinion stands that the food does not back up the cost. read more

We were in from out of town staying at Grand Hyatt and love Italian, so going by reviews tried Panzano. Very good. Waiter Brian was great, very friendly. We got the Brussels as appetizer, good, little salty but when balanced with apple, delicious. Wife got the Milano Spritz, she liked it a lot. Both our meals were good. Wife got squid ink pasta with seafood and I got Bolognese. Their pasta was very good,, actually wish my Bolognese had less sauce and meat and more pasta! My wife thought her main dish was the highlight of dinner, I thought the focaccia with tapenade was amazing, for a focaccia it's very light and lemon olive oil on it gave it amazing flavor. The portions were larger than I expected, wife and I could have split a main. The thing I would counsel against getting is the Tiramisu.. or I call death by coco powder, it really just felt like a bowl of whip cream with way too much coco powder. Twice eating it I inhaled coco powder, not pleasant. That being said, still giving five stars since everything else was so good. read more

We came here the other night for my birthday. I'm a huge fan of Italian and this place had the most positive reviews, so we settled on making a reservation here. The hostess was sweet and accommodated us based on our reservation notes (seat by the window, birthday, etc). Our server was fast and accommodating, but she also gave us plenty of time to relax and look over the menu without rushing our orders. We decided to split the flatbread w/prosciutto to start - delicious! Very light, but a great combination of flavors; prosciutto, truffle oil, balsamic, a brie-like cheese and parsley. They all complimented one another. We're both huge pasta fans so we were planning on splitting a pasta but couldn't make a joint decision; our server offered to bring us half-portions of two! My bf got the carbonara, and I got the lamb ragu. I thought the ragu was excellent; the carbonara came out slightly cold, with an overcooked fried egg; I didn't love it... To finish we split the fried eggplant entreé (like a deconstructed eggplant parm); the plating was very pretty, and the eggplant was perfectly cooked. I think the pomodoro sauce lacked flavor, however. Since it was my birthday they gave us a complimentary dessert; the creme brulee was delicious! As we were leaving, our server gave me a happy birthday card with a gift of another complimentary dessert next time we went. I think we will return to try different things on the menu. read more

Unfortunately, the entrees were nothing to write home about. For $50+ entrees I would have been better off at olive garden. The portions were small, greasy and bland. My husband and I stayed at The Hotel Monaco and enjoyed both a drink before dinner and then breakfast at Panzano the next day. Our beer and wine were excellent and service was great. We could review their entire selection and make our choices using their iPads, which I had only seen used at airports. I liked it! The atmosphere is classy and romantic. It was busy on a weekday evening but we were able to get a seat without a wait at the bar. The next morning we were able to be seated right away for breakfast. I had a delicious French toast and a unique and perfect breakfast cocktail with some sort of tea flavoring. Loved it! Great atmosphere/interior design. Waiter was grouchy and didn't fill our wine glasses in a timely matter throughout the meal. Caesar salad was wilted. Our meals took an extremely long time to come out, and when they did, my rabbit gnocchi came out lukewarm and very salty(it got such good reviews on yelp, not sure what happened tonight?) Creme brûlée dessert was good, and the olive tapenade they bring at the start of the meal was probably the best part of the meal. In town from Pittsburgh, PA, I was staying across the street from Panzano at the new Renaissance Hotel. I didn't particularly want Italian Food, as I've become a bit of an Italian Food-snob having lived in the Northeast for a decade. After walking aimlessly for an hour and working up quite an appetite, I ended up back at the Hotel, with Panzano being my most convenient option. I'm glad I compromised and gave them a shot. The service was outstanding- I felt like I had my own personal waiter / chef. The young man that served me was very knowledgable with regards to their offerings, and did a good job of steering me in the right direction. He even offered to split my appetizer order in half, so I could try a bit of Calamari and a delicious mushroom crepe. I ordered the Rabbit Confit Gnocchi as my main course. WOW! This was not the Italian food I'd become accustomed to in Pittsburgh. It was almost too delicious to eat- but rest assured I muscled thru it. Anyone in town looking for a good meal and good service, Panzano is worth considering. I left happy, full, and ready for bed. read more

I frequent Denver a few times a year for work, and I must say Panzano is a must on every visit. I have tried several items on their menu and I have liked everything. The flavors are so amazing. If I make it to their happy hour I love enjoying their Doppio Ravioli di Vetri with a glass of wine. Also, if you ever get around, I would really recommend their Bloody Marry, it's by far the best Boody Mary I have had, and I have it everywhere I go, it wasn't on the menu I just asked for one. Anyhow, I will be back to Denver next week and I can't wait for my Panzano visit. read more

Went out for a special occasion and was really disappointed. Service was lackluster and food was not good. My main pasta seafood dish was almost inedible. I would have sent it back but I did not want to signal the dissatisfaction to my wife. The dish had extremely too much salt, garlic and butter and was over cooked. Cocktails from the bar are not good either. I picked this place because it had favorable write ups when looking for "best Denver Italian." Not sure how Panzano made it on those lists. Seems like a hotel restaurant afterthought. read more

Great place! Visiting Denver for a conference and staying at the Hotel Monaco so the restaurant was very handy. I visited 3 times over 3 days. First, did Happy Hour the day I checked in. Great menu and wine selection. Very good prices!!! Good atmosphere and attentive service. I highly recommend their Happy Hour. Later that same evening I joined a colleague in the dining room for a glass of wine while he ate a Ceasar salad. He raved about the salad and the by the glass regular wine was great. Dining room was a bit noisy but not overwhelming. Last night my colleague and I did a late, light supper and again enjoyed the wine. He had the Caesar again and I had the creamy onion soup. The soup was absolutely awesome!!! Once again, great service!!!! read more

I had one of the best butternut squash raviolis of my life here. It was a special on the menu, but they are considering making it a permanent choice. It was served with hazelnuts and had a nice fall flavor to it. We started with a shared fried brussels sprout appetizer. Everything was yummy. I would highly recommend. When we got to the table and settled in, we checked the menu and noticed many dishes that looked delicious. I started with the grilled Caesar salad it was perfect.
