We went there last night with some family for restaurant week, my first time and excited to try the famous brussels sprouts. it didn't last long, my excitement that is. The service was excellent as well as a great wine list, some of which were on special. The menu looked great, a 4 course meal for $52.80 for 2. I have a feeling that the majority of the food was pre cooked, not to order. The Brussels sprouts were ok, not great. I should have ordered the mushroom crepe which was awesome. Ceasar griglia was good if a little messy, chicken marsala again average, veal picatta was very chewy. All in all average food with very good service. One last pet peeve, the room we were dining in which was part wine cellar part tv room, there was a 50" flatscreen with basketball on on the far wall. When I come to a nice restaurant the last thing I expect is a sports bar feel in an elegant restaurant. In defense of Panzano I expect that the food is better during non restaurant week. read more

After reading all the good reviews we were both very excited to try Panzano. The Yelp's didn't at all live up to the experience we had. The service was wonderful, with the staff being very engaging. But the food was off to say the least. My Insalata Mista - organic greens, sherry vinaigrette with gorgonzola was good so my hopes were, at this point, still high. But slowly my hopes were dashed as I tasted my entre of Pollo Val d'Aosta - a lightly breaded chicken layered with prosciutto and fontina cheese over mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus and found it to be dull and bland. Her Ravioli Salsiccia - House-made sausage and three cheese ravioli with a rosemary pomodoro was good but a very small portion and flat as crackers. The side of risotto was taken away early because it was undercooked and salty. And the polenta I ordered was dry and didn't taste very good at all so it sat there on the table less than half eaten. I don't know if it was what we ordered but I won't be going back if I ever make it back to Denver. read more

One of my husband's and my favorite places to come when we are in Denver! The brussel sprouts keep us coming back-they are amazing every time! They also have a wonderful drink menu. Last time I was here it was wonderful but this time Ihad the pork chop and it was dry and over cooked. Also the flavor a just didn't seem to meld well together. It was very rich but just not satisfying in some way. I would also recommend that they remove the Rosemary from their dishes before serving. At times I got a huge burst of overwhelming Rosemary in my mouth when I didn't see a piece I missed and ate. Their pasta on the other hand is wonderful, really great . read more

This place only gets two stars because the tirimisu was delish. Other than that, categorize this one under "Overpriced and Underfed". We went here for our Anniversary, and were severely disappointed. Waited 15+ minutes for valet parking service guy to come back - he was on a smoke break, nice. The restaurant was crowded and stuffy - a little energy is great but this place was just loud. We were seated in a booth as we had requested. The walls of the booth are so high you can't even see around the place - it's so claustrophobic it's uncomfortable. Our food was OK - I had the eggplant parmesan. The dish looked pretty but there's no substance to it. It needed a side of pasta or something to make it into a meal. It was a few tiny medallions of breaded eggplant, drizzled with green aioli of some sort, and served over a little ricotta and sauce. Even with an overpriced starter salad that was very boring, I was starving when we left. My husband had a chicken dish that was totally overcooked and dried out, and bland on top of it all. Our waiter took 14 minutes to come by and even offer us water or a drink. I also asked for butter for our cold bread and he never came back. We ended up asking a busboy who took 10 minutes to bring it. The service was absolutely horrible - and they brought our wine out (which we ordered with salad) after we already had our entrees for 15 minutes. The only saving grace was the tirimisu they gave us for free because it was our anniversary.,... It was the only good thing we had there. I do not recommend this place at all. Bottomless bellini's for $9 at brunch. Orange, cranberry, grapefruit, pear, peach, or pineapple. Pear is my favorite. I was here two weeks ago and had the best french toast I've ever had then got the salumi omlette today which was divine. The table shared a homemade pastry platter. I tried the chicken hash, eggs benedict, and strata in addition to my meal which were all awesome. My favorite breakfast place in Denver! I'll have to come back for some other meal next. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. Our server was wonderful and nailed the timing the entire meal. The mushroom crepes are out of this world and the drink menu is on an iPad, complete with food pairings. We had the scallops and chicken marinara and they were both outstanding. The chef's tasting was amazing! This was literally the best meal I have ever had. We are from Atlanta but visit new cities on a regular basis and this is seriously my favorite restaurant by far. I have written a 4 star panzano before. We came back after 4 months and it was not a hit. The chef decided to exchange the mushrooms in the 5 star crepes with some chewier ones... NOT a change for the better. She also changed the batter which also did not improve the recipe.We made it clear to the waiter we would not be back until they went back to the original crepe recipe. This is a hit with customers...why mess with it without being sure its better??? We are now expanding out to other restaurants until Panzano straightens their issues out. We love their place as everything is organic so we hope they do. read more

I have been here twice and it is fabulous! I came once for a work dinner and had the full dining experience with a nice bottle of wine, appetizers, dinner and dessert. The food and service were both wonderful. I came back for Happy Hour with a friend and I was shocked and not only how great the atmosphere was, but how affordable and reasonable the drinks and food specials were. I am looking forward to trying their brunch as well. This place is totally worth it. If you can't afford a nice dinner, do happy hour. It's the same experience! read more

We went here for the third time a few days ago, and the food makes me wonder why we don't come three times every week (it's the downtown traffic and parking). The first time was with friends for Restaurant Week and the other two times for their fantastic happy hour. I had one of their $5 specialty cocktails, with pear vodka and elderberry liqueur--wow--and a truly delicious pizza topped with rabbit confit, gorgonzola cheese and toasted walnuts. My husband and I shared a mushroom crepe that tasted like essence of mushroom and light crispy melt in your mouth fried calamari. It got noisy as the place filled up, as to be expected in a bar, but I remember that the dining room, even when busy, had a sophisticated, quiet vibe. Loved it. read more

I love cheese and butter, but this just may be too much for even a fat kid. Service was EXCELLENT. We chose to create our own 5 course menu by splitting options that were not on the prix fix tasting menu and the kitchen, waitstaff and sommelier were more than accommodating in every possible way. We had calamari, caesar, rabbit gnocchi and the veal with tiramisu to finish. Why 3 stars? The food is too damn rich and I'm a total glutton/ fat ass. The salad was very overdressed. The gnocchi was great, but as is too often the case--the gamey taste of rabbit (otherwise just get chicken) was so overwhelmed with butter and oil that after a few albeit delicious bites i started to feel sick. Maybe the veal was ok, but couldn't taste it through the grease coat on my mouth. The tiramisu was awesome and actually tasted like the lightest thing on the menu. What a great meal! We celebrated a birthday and then went to see a play after dinner. The food is everything you have read about. OMG, the brussels sprouts were perhaps one of the best dishes I have ever had in my life! Having lived down South, I can tell you the char grilled oysters had an authentic taste. Panzano is around the corner from my apartment so I knew it was only a matter of time before I would eat dinner. I took my Mom when she was in town for the holiday so I had really high hopes to impress her. We both enjoyed our meal but were hoping for a little better. We started with the brussels sprouts and the potato croquettes which were both delicious. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and salty with delicious green apples (which were not as crisp as apples should be but still good) and croquettes were good but a bit overseasoned. For the main dishes we had the eggplant parmesan and the pistache. The homemade pasta in the pistache is to die for. So cheesy and delicious. The eggplant was nice too, however it lacked... something. For dessert we shared the butterscotch pudding which was absolute heaven, but presentation was a little off putting. Wine was nice too. Mmm, left full but underwhelmed. Appreciated the homemade-ness of the dishes and the atmosphere is nice but on the whole didn't live up to expectations. Service was pretty good though servers could try to refill water without splashing us. Best Caesar salad of my life! Carbonara was ok. Looks like a small portion but because of the fresh pasta it was very filling. Service was mediocre at best. We came in to be seated and told there were no openings so we could sit at the bar area where there were tables. We picked a tale and were then told we couldn't sit there but to go around the corner to another room. We sat at a window bar, but were then told that room dad no longer serving (7 on a Friday?) we finally were escorted to another hightop table. The waitress never told us the specials, slammed an image wine list on the table, came back a few minutes later and asked if we were ready for wine. We hadn't chosen yet, so she said she'd come back. It took a long time for her to come back at which we then ordered. Our salads came out before the bread (ok, but dipping sauce was amazing). Our entrees then came out. The waitress and really all the waitstaff were unfriendly. The bus boy actually came and wiped down the table while we were still finishing our wine! read more

I'm giving this restaurant two stars because the service and ambiance were OK. The food was a big disappointment. We had seven menu items - two appetizers and the $65 five course tasting menu. Every dish was overlooked, over spiced, excessively heavy. The mushrooms in the crepes tasted like they were dried and reconstituted, while the sauce was so thick and rich I couldn't eat but a bite. The veal was a tasteless brown lump. The salad was broiled lettuce - huh? Tasted like it. The pasta was unlike anything I've ever had. An amorphous lump, and the "meatballs" were highly spiced ground beef. Hardly gourmet fare. But the worst was last. The lemon curd dessert was utterly awful. Here's my take: think of a cheap buttercreme cake from Safeway, with some pathetic candied fruit on top. Yuck! Save your money and eat elsewhere. read more

This place was excellent. The food was amazing but most of all the service was top notch! Lori (sp?)was our server and she was not only delightful but extremely useful in making our dinner choices for the evening. I wish you could give half stars because I would give Panzano 3.5 stars. I wish I could give more, but one of the reasons we picked this restaurant for our date night was because of the very high reviews posted here. It seems that maybe going for Happy Hour or Restaurant Week would be a better value for the food. We paid "full price" ($140 for 2 people including 3 glasses of wine and tip) so I wanted to share our our less than mind blowing experience. I would have given it a "pretty good!" review except that my stomach has been a little upset since dining here last night. We started with the shared cheese and charcuterie platter which was nice but not out of this world. It came with toast, but we had to ask our waiter for the bread, which should have been one of the first things to come out. We then shared a bowl of the brussel sprout soup, which was probably my favorite part of the meal. Delicious with the green apple slices it came with. I had asked to taste the polenta (because I love polenta), but the waiter forgot, and I didn't care to remind him. My husband had the pastiche, which was very flavorful and well spiced. I had the butternut squash and goat cheese ravioli, but it was really quite greasy and I think that's what upset my stomach. I only had a couple of bites because we were hoping to taste the tiramisu. We had 20 minutes to spare before needing to get back to our car (you only get 2 hours of street parking in Denver! Really not long enough to linger over a meal). But our waiter didn't come to check on us in time, so we just asked for the check. I don't think we'll be back, as the meal just wasn't a "loved it, can't wait to go back" experience. read more

The mushroom crepes were outstanding as was their salad with peaches and fresh shaved Parmesan. Nice ambiance too. You can sit at the bar and watch the chefs cook for a more relaxed meal. My husband and I went here last year for my 30th birthday. It was an awful experience. I got one of the pasta dishes. It started out great and then I took a bite to find a piece of metal wire in the sauce. When I told the waiter, he said it must have been part of the fryer basket. I pointed out that nothing on my dish was fried so that seemed unlikely. He agreed, apologized, took the dish and said he would have the chefs fire a new one right away. I told him no thank you as I didn't have much appetite after that, but he didn't listen. He brought it out after a few minutes, we ordered drinks, and he never came back. That was literally the last time we saw him, but he was waiting on other tables right around us, just completely avoiding us. I asked another waiter for a manager who never came and then finally gave up and asked for the check. Nothing was taken off of the bill and in fact, the drinks we never received were on there. We asked for a new check with that removed and asked for a comp on just my pasta dish that had metal in it. Well that didn't happen, they never came back with a new check, not even one with just the drinks that were never received removed. We paid in cash and just short paid it. I chose the chef seating which means you can watch them cook. Very fun! All of the staff were so courteous, striking that perfect balance between attentive, intuitive and unobtrusive. Pricy at $25-40 per plate, but unbelievably delicious. I go so far as to say, best dinner I've ever had. Every bite had a little different mix of light and rich, citrus and creamy, nutty and tangy. Used to be much better. But the last time I visited will be my last. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were still seated behind customers that arrived after us. By the time they sat us, all that was left was a table in the makeshift dining room next to the side windows. There was a very cold breeze circulating through our table and my 90 year old grandmother was quite cold. The server refused to seat us in the main dining room. For such an overpriced restaurant, one would expect decent service. Unfortunately you don't even get that. read more
