Service: Came for Sunday brunch. Mimosas are weak and pre made. Never brought waters, got our found with no silverware. Food: horrid super cold you can tell it's pre-cooked and prob sitting around since the day before. My meat was that color where you can see the fat turn white so gross. (Chilaquiles with asada) The ambience is great and although the staff seem lost, they were very nice. Would def not be back even tho I live on the same block

This restaurant is located in downtown Long Beach and they have a parking structure nearby that you can park for free for the first 2 hours. (I didn't know until I paid for my meter parking) The only thing is that there's a bunch of different names for this restaurant, so it's really hard to find. There's a lounge connected to it that's called Agaves I think, idk the whole naming situation is super confusing. Taquitos ($12) - I really liked the presentation of the chicken taquitos and it was pretty delicious. I am usually not a big fan of beans, but they had a bean puree and it had a consistency of a thicker sauce and it was pretty good. The only thing is that the bottom of the tower got soggy from the bean puree and the taquitos weren't as crunchy. Steak Fajitas ($25) - OMG, this is a must get. For the portion they give you, it is definitely worth the money. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the veggies were so flavorful. They weren't too soggy and still had a nice texture to it. It also comes with a side of rice, beans, guac, salsa, and sour cream, however, I substituted my beans for more rice and it was a power move. You can definitely share this entree with another person. Overall, this was a solid Mexican restaurant. The inside is a bit small but they have outdoor patio seating as well. The bar was pretty cool and aesthetically pleasing and on theme. Only thing was the naming situation was so confusing cuz you can barely see 'next door'.

Y'ALL. This place has happy hour ALL DAY Tuesday and ALL DAY Wednesday. I repeat-- ALL DAY. This is not a drill!! I appreciated this deal for Taco Tuesday, but honestly those tacos were a bit small for my taste. The food was good, the drinks were served by attentive staff which I appreciated! They even have outdoor seating, where we brought our 30lb 5 month puppy and a 15lb poodle mix. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because we're in Southern California, and there's a lot of competition for good tacos. While I thought these were decent tasting, they didn't seem like anything to write home about, so I'm reserving a star for the truly epic food that's out there. The ambiance was pretty oriented to our location, DTLB in case you're looking for a party. But we just wanted some tacos so that didn't really apply to us.

I come to Long Beach once every three months for work and I decided to check out the Happy Hour at NextDoor (at Agaves) based on the reviews here. I passed a number of restaurants prominently displaying their happy hours along Pine on my way to this restaurant. When I got to NextDoor there was only one other party eating dinner there. The happy hour table top signs that you can see in a number of the reviews below were nowhere to be seen. I should've probably turned around and gone back to the Spanish tapas place which was very busy, but I decided I didn't want to support a colonial themed restaurant tonight so I decided to stay. I asked specifically about their happy hour. Yannin very graciously offered me a margarita for seven dollars and two carnita tacos for five. Both items were delicious. I ordered the house salad too, but it was unfortunately not as good. The spring greens mix was fresh, but it was too lightly dressed with a guava vinaigrette, that I could barely taste, and there were no apples in it as the menu described. I wondered if the chef was newish or not totally present. And then, I wondered if the space wasn't really a restaurant. Anyway, I feel terrible for not being able to leave a better review since Yannin was so kind. The decor was also festive and modern. It was just sort of weird being there all by myself.

I had a great lunch at this spot today, I found it on Yelp and all the food looked good so we went, Me and my boyfriend. He he got the asada steak, I got the taquitos, guacamole and 2 spicy margaritas and he had a michelada . ( jalapeño margarita and she made me a custom spicy strawberry one) all the food and drinks was 10/10!!!! My server holly was so sweet and professional! I liked her a lot. And she knows how to mix drinks that taste good. I'm so happy with the service and I'll be back!

My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant for happy hour as a break when I was moving into my apartment here in Long Beach. With such great reviews, we had to check it out. We ordered a strawberry margarita, which was delicious and strong!! They also give complimentary chips and salsa, so we definitely took advantage as we were starving. We also ordered the agave nachos with chorizo and the chicken quesadilla. While the nachos were delicious, the chips were really soggy by the end. The chicken quesadilla was so good! It had a little spice and lots of flavor. The guacamole and salsa on the side were perfect accompaniments to the spicy and cheesy quesadilla. I'll definitely come back for taco Tuesday!!

Came in on Cinco de Mayo Sunday, place was very lively and extremely loud because of the dance club next door. I didn't know this Mexican restaurant, bar and dance club until now. They had a special holiday menu all day and a pre-made Michelada. I wanted my usual Modelo Michelada but our server said the pre-made one was the same. It tasted very light and refreshing but I usually prefer heavier ones. This restaurant and bar is very comfy and cozy with tall top booth seatings inside and regular booth outside. I really wanted to stay and have a few more drinks but the music was so loud to the point it was unbearable. Glad our guacamole came out fast and it was so fresh and tasty, chips and salsa were very yummy too. We were rushing to finish our one round of drinks and snack food so we could leave this unbelievably loud place! I really liked this Mexican restaurant and bar but it was a bad time to come in on Cinco de Mayo. Snack food was yummy, our server was very friendly and fast, we will be back soon for more food and drinks on a normal day!

My boyfriend and I paid 20$ each to get in. I bought a drink and immediately got in line for the bathroom. As soon as I got in the bathroom someone was BANGING on the door and when I got out I was assaulted by their security. I am a 5'4 135lb woman. I have a bruise/bump on my forehead and my elbow is hurt from your "security" punching me in the side of my head AND ripping my drink I just bought out of my hand after beating the shit out of me and my boyfriend and throwing us out the side door. We did nothing wrong. I reached out to the owner and I am waiting for a response.

Had a great Sunday lunch here at Next door! We had the nachos, surf and turf tacos, and carne asada tacos. All were very good! Drinks here are delicious as well, Paloma and watermelon infusion. Our server, Ester, is really nice and accommodating. Our food was good and tasty. We all liked it the guac and rice. One thing though is that one chicken plate (enchipotladas) was kind of under done, but they were nice enough to replace it with a new meal. Good food, good venue, good people. read more

I was looking around Pine for somewhere to eat and I came across Next Door to try. Came in and was warmly welcomed by the staff. The setting is very intimate and comfortable. Apparently, they are currently doing a soft opening & let me tell you everything was great from the service to the food and drinks. The bartender was very knowledgeable with their cocktails and I tried the El Matador. It has a pleasant smokiness to it along with a spicy kick that I throughly enjoy. As a whiskey drinker, the El Matador was out of my element but the Mezcal was yummy. I only ordered an appetizer because I wasn't too hungry so I got the shrimp taquitos & my bf got the Papas Avages and both were amazing. Both plates contain so much flavor. The shrimp taquitos have a kick to them along with a nice amount of flavor with the pico and the sauce. The papa agaves has a nice balance with the pico flavor and the creaminess of the cheese and avocado sauce. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and you will for sure see me again! read more

First of all I didn't realize that they would have a cover charge just to eat there!?!?! They asked for $10 per person and only cash... it's not that much but if you didn't expect a cover charge that has to be in cash, I didn't get to try the food because I didn't have cash on me it wasn't pleasant ended up going to another restaurant near by read more

This restaurant is located downtown Long Beach area. We were craving Mexican food and we decided to give Next Door a try. We were greeted by the hostess and promptly seated. The restaurant just opened up so the place was virtually empty. Our server was very polite and courteous and we ordered drinks. We opted to skip appetizers and selected our main course instead. The drinks were okay. The wait time to get our meals not so much. I've tried Mexican numerous times before and for the most part the concepts were the same but the meats were unseasoned and not very flavorful. We waited a total of 42 minutes for our meals even though we were one of the first people there. The manager did apologize for the lengthy wait! The interior of this restaurant is simply amazing. If you are having a casual girls night out this is definitely the place. However, I wasn't impressed by the food. Bottom line -okay for drinks but not for food. read more

It was our first time to Next Door and it did not disappoint. Our food was delicious! I had the best steak fajitas I've ever had, anywhere, and we're from Oxnard where Mexican food is plentiful and varied. I asked for them to be cooked medium rare and they were melt in your mouth tender. Even the cut on the veggies made them more flavorful. My husband ordered the carnitas nachos and raved about them. Our son ordered enchiladas suizas with chicken, he's a picky eater, but this day he decimated his dinner. My sister-in-law ordered the carnitas tacos and was very pleased. The house salsa is green and delicious, as was my Cadillac Margarita. In addition, we had some special requests/needs that William accommodated quickly and kindly. My family loves Mexican food and won't hesitate to be critical. Whenever we visit Long Beach we will go "Next Door". read more

I came here on a Friday evening. The service and food was just ok, a bit overpriced for what you get. The tortilla soup didn't actually have any tortilla pieces in it (as you can see in the pic) and if you add chicken it's an extra $4 which makes the soup close to $13. Overall it wasn't bad but I wouldn't make it back here soon, especially will all the other options in the area. read more

Being a frequent patron of the "Original Agaves", I finally dined at Next Door. One word to describe my dish which was the Cauliflower Tacos: DELICIOUS! The Margaritas are spot on! As full as one can get, try the Churros and Vanilla ice cream to top off your dining experience. Overall: Great atmosphere and vibe with the Spanish music and gorgeous interior! Happened to be in the area and looked up restaurants nearby. We ended up here on a weekday night. There is free parking a few blocks down. We arrived and were immediately seated outside/patio. Our server was attentive and the manager could be seen walking around checking in with patrons. Service was good. We ordered the queso fundido, shrimp taquitos, and tacos (pollo, carne asada, surf and turf). The first two were yummy, but the tacos were underwhelming. So much so that we started talking about delicious tacos we've had in hole-of the-wall kind of places and how these tacos were very lackluster. Other than the tacos, everything was great. Oh my God! What a find. Everything we ordered was deep with flavor and fresh. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had the half chicken sans the sauce. Crispy skin, delicious rice!!! My husband had carnitas fajitas. No way he could eat them all but he tried. Everyone loved their food. The bonus of the night was the music. Holy mother...this guy made me cry with that voice his name is Tian look him up and follow-he is the Latino Elvis. Mark my words. He plays there every Tuesday night. Next Door is the milder & older sister of Agaves where things are raging even on a Sunday afternoon. The happy hour prices for tacos are very good and the portions are large. The guacamole is amazing and well seasoned. Our bartender Daniel was super sweet and hustled the entire time behind the bar as well as taking care of some of the tables plus taking drink orders from Agave. Parking was a struggle but that is to be expected. read more

I've always been a fan of Agaves and my recent happy hour experience at Agaves "Next Door" was the cherry on the sundae! Really great food, drink and awesome service. William the manager was very warm, friendly, and attentive. He really made me feel at home. I had the classic margarita, queso fundido and taquitos de camaron (shrimp taquitos). The presentation was so beautiful and the flavor was even better! Great Happy Hour here I highly recommend! Salud! read more

My dad picked this place to eat for his birthday today 4/19/19. What a fantastic pick ..... AMAZING food. My dad had the seafood stuffed Chile Relleno, that was delicious. My sister had the carne Asada plate with cactus....BOMB!! I picked the build your own taco plate with four tacos. Had the cauliflower taco, surf n turf taco, Carnitas taco and fish taco. The tacos were all delicious would love to have them again. Our waitress Ester was extremely pleasant and friendly. When in Long Beach this place is a must try great atmosphere!!! read more

So my husband and I decided to try this spot out a couple months ago. We were not disappointed. Right now he is stuck on getting the carnitas plate (he gets it every time we come here) and I'm loving the asada plate. I have also had their shrimp a la diabla which is very tasty as well. The food is really flavorful. The chef really uses the spices so that it enhances the food... not over powering or bland. They also give you decent portion sizes. We always end up taking food home because there is so much but it's too good to waste. We also love Julia. She has been our server every time we've been here. She is really attentive and sweet. So if you go, try to get Julia. read more

Funny story (kinda, maybe, not really). We are still exploring our new neighborhood and when we dine out, we try to try new places. So of course we hopped on Yelp and see this baby is "Hot and New"; there were less than ten reviews. So we were on it. We walk the downtown area often, but don't remember seeing this spot, which is very odd because it's right on the main strip. As we arrive, I get dejavu. I know I haven't been to this restaurant, but it seems so oddly familiar. So I ask our waitress what this place used to be and boom, I HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE. Turns out, it used to be an Argentinian spot. I went there with my family once before. Anywho, we were pleasantly surprised with our whole experience. First and foremost, Erin our waitress was the ish. Second, portion for cost is great. My husband and I definitely could have shared a taco plate as each taco was generously filled. We did the cauliflower, chicken, steak and shrimp and fish. Our favs were the cauliflower and fish. Both had similar flavor, full and a hint of spice. We also had the guacamole, which was super on point. I also had the chicken tortilla soup which was good and interesting; it had microsprouts in it. My husband had the steak fajitas, which we opted to not finish and take home to eat later. That said, very good as leftovers too. All in all, we definitely felt like we got our money's worth. Third, for dranks, we each had a margarita on the rocks. Hubs had the classic and I the mango. I think we both preferred his, though the classic was good. Overall, we were really happy we stopped in and would definitely come back for more. read more

I was looking for somewhere to go after work for Taco Tuesday. I did a quick Yelp search for tacos near home and "Next Door" popped up. I looked at the food posted by customers to get an idea of the portions and was pleased. My husband and I went and were greeted by a friendly couple enjoying their meal on the outdoor patio. The young lady told us the food was delicious and shared her drink choices (Watermelon & Pepino Margarita). I had the Surf and Turf taco and a Asada taco. The hubby had 2 chicken tacos. They were tasty, my only issue was the cheese on my Surf and Turf. Our server Esvin, was super nice and quick. So was the young man who seated us. I love the decor of the restaurant and the vibe was chill. They also played really nice music. I'd definitely go back. read more

I was incredibly surprised with my dining experience here at Next Door. I was interested in coming in to eat due to the beautiful patio and decor as it caught my eye when I walked by! I have to say the happy hour deals are amazing and the margaritas were light and refreshing. The server told me that they are now open for brunch and I can't wait to try it out! The ceviche and tequila/mezcal selection are also wonderful, I will certainly be back soon! read more

We saw that next door had good reviews on Yelp and decided to come by. We live near pine and have never noticed this place, its attached to agaves so it's easy to miss. The enchiladas were good, beans/rice good, tacos good. Complimentary chips and salsa were average but our waitress juliet was super friendly and attentive. Definitely will be back! read more

The food looks really great, but as someone with a noise sensitivity due to a head injury I couldn't get that far. The music was louder than most DJ nights. You cannot talk while eating with music louder than a night club. read more

I came here on National Margarita Day, and was disappointed. The drinks were pricey, and not well done. Also, they food was uninspired and boring. I get that they want to be upscale Mexican food, but you can do so much better in long beach. Maybe they kitchen staff should take a trip to Mexico and get some inspiration, because they need it. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The server changed the tip amount on my bill after I signed it. Only had two drinks and tipped appropriately ,but when I checked my statement later, I noticed that the amount had been altered and was significantly higher than what I wrote. This is absolutely unacceptable and borders on theft. I called the restaurant to address the issue, but they did nothing to resolve it. This kind of behavior is not only unethical, but it also ruins the trust between customers and businesses. I will never be coming back, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place unless you want to risk being scammed. read more

This was our first time at this restaurant. We stopped bye on Christmas Day and the food was amazing. I definitely recommend the ceviche or guacamole for appetizer. For dinner we ordered fish and shrimp tacos. Plentiful proportions to say the least. My wife and I ordered margaritas for dessert! We're staying at the Hilton Long Beach and walked over from our hotel. William and his staff made us feel right at home. I definitely will be coming back when I'm in the LBC area.
