I can see why this place is the current hot spot... and I will not be surprised if it stays hot, hot, hot, because it is incredible. The restaurant is basically on top Of the ocean and the views take your breath away. Pro tip: try and get a sunset reservation and bring a charged phone for lots of pictures and videos. The food was soooooo good! My favorite dish was 100% the cornbread with shrimp: it was savory and spicy and a perfect amount. Even the kids seimen noodles were delicious and a large portion. Our drinks were always filled and we received the best desserts.

My sister ordered the poke tacos, raviolis truffle fries as appetizers. I LOVED the poke tacos. For dinner, I had a Mai Tai and fish and chips. The fish were swordfish a the fish were so dense and yummy. I've never had swordfish fish and chips before. The aioli sauce that came with it was so yummy! Emily was our server and asked what our group of 17 was for an event. We told her we were celebrating my sister's wedding so she brought us pieces of pie to share. The strawberry pie was so yummy. We were so sad to learn that the orange cream sickle was out, but we tried the mango one and it was good as well. I love supporting a locally owned restaurant where they locally source their fresh veggies, fruit, and other ingredients. I hope to come back another time and try other foods.

Enjoyed it a lot tonight. The live music is always great and appreciated. The servers are always really nice and attentive. Food was really good. Got the mushroom and then the margarita pizzas. Got the jalapeño mashed potatoes and the ravioli app and the garlic fries. Leaving full and happy.

They absolutely nailed it!! There's a reason they have so many amazing reviews here. Drinks, food, service, ambience - this place does it all and they do it right! Our sever Tony was an absolute gem helped to guide our orders by our taste, and didn't disappoint! Everything was so good, we insisted on finding the manager to give our compliments before leaving and almost came back the very next day!

I went 2 times the week I was in Hawaii. My servers were fantastic. Mai tais were incredible. Didn't get a pic but the poke tacos and lobster deviled eggs were my favorite. Ordered the Margherita pizza and garlic fries as well and those were decent. Very busy both times I went.

We made reservations accidentally during happy hour and were pleased to see some things we wanted to try were discounted, including the taro dumplings and the pizza! The menu was a fun take on seafood dishes and traditional beachfront restaurants. The hosts were the sweetest, and our server, Kylee, was so attentive and kind! She gave her recommendations for dishes, told us about happy hour, and refilled our drinks before we got a chance to ask! The band, Kaleo and Emile, were the sweetest and most talented singers. I appreciated that I could hear the music without it overpowering conversations at the table! Finally, the indoor-outdoor seating was perfectly temperate, with stunning ocean views, live music, and comfortable seating! I definitely recommend MonkeyPod for great service, wonderful food curated in a thoughtful menu, and beachy vibes!

my favorite meal of the vacation! came here for father's day lunch with my husband and daughter, and the live music really added to the ambiance. our server was amazing, answered all of our questions, and gave us great recommendations. the food was AMAZING!! my daughter got the complimentary butter and cheese noodles, which you can never go wrong with. my husband and i shared the poke tacos and the fish sandwich with a side of truffle fries. the truffle fries could have used a little more truffle flavor, but they were still really good! both the tacos and the fish sandwich were so fresh and flavorful. i would definitely recommend either of those dishes. if you like something light and fruity to drink, definitely get the ube cocktail! our server recommended it to me, and it ended up being my favorite drink of the trip. 10/10 would come back again!

In my opinion, this place is better than Duke's ‍ it gets very busy so make sure you reserve ahead for big groups or you can sit at the bar. Even with full seating and lines waiting, the whole operation is smooth and organized. The bartenders are sending out drinks non stop, while providing attentive service to the guests at the bar. They also have live music on weekends from local artists. Location is ocean front and you can see the view from most seatings in the restaurant We went for their happy hour menu, good value and variety of food options. Definitely try the truffle pizza - extra cheesy and crispy thin. Wings and shrimp are tasty too. The draft beer is highlight as they have a good mix of local Hawaiian and European beer

Came here for Fourth of July dinner, and didn't expect to have such a beautiful view of the fireworks! Service was good even though they were very busy. Me and my husband waited about 30 mins for our table. We got the macadamia crusted fish with mango salsa, and it was so delicious! The lemon sauce was so flavorful and fresh, and the fish was cooked perfectly! The margarita pizza we ordered was not good at all - definitely will skip that next time. Was cold and not enough sauce or cheese. Also got the salad with macadamia nuts and oranges - that was very good and tasted fresh but not worth the price for how small the portion was.

We were primarily interested in the drinks at Monkeypod, so we made a reservation at 9pm after our actual dinner reservation at 7pm elsewhere. We wrapped up our dinner sooner than we had expected, and Monkeypod was a 5 minute walk down the street, so we asked if we could be seated sooner. The hostess said yes and gave us a buzzer, but there was still about a 20 minute wait before we were seated. We started with a round of the infamous Monkeypod Mai Tais. I had seen a clip of a girl on TikTok rolling around in the waves with the caption "me after 3 Monkeypod Mai Tais" and decided that I will most certainly have what she is having. They were so good y'all. I had been in such a lilikoi (passionfruit) mood that entire trip, and that honey-lilikoi foam on top of that Monkeypod Mai Tai is to die for. It's genius, really is what it is. And delicious. And strong. I could barely taste the sting of alcohol in this tropical wonder, but by sip #3, I was feeling the heat. Perfect. I could see why she had 3. Great vibes. On our second round of drinks, we all decided to get something different from each other. Collectively, we ordered the No' Ka Oi, the Ube Rey, and the Fifty-Foot Pole. You'll have to forgive me, but as you can see by the way I described the Mai Tais, by this point, I was not in the best position to be remembering how drinks tasted if you catch my drift. But, I can offer this brief summary. Out of the three drinks ordered on our second round, I liked the Fifty-Foot Pole the best, but nothing held a candle to the Monkeypod Mai Tai. As for food, we decided to order a couple of appetizers because we were curious and would've felt bad if we had only gotten drinks. Given that we were in Hawai'i, the Kalua Pork & Pineapple Pizza seemed incredibly appropriate. It was better than I was expecting. The spiciness from the jalapenos complemented the sweetness from the pineapple perfectly. All the toppings went together surprisingly well. I also liked the banana cream pie. The chicken wings though... meh. I shouldn't have felt bad at all though, because when the bill came out... Zoo Wee Mama! The 6 drinks alone were $120 total. The chicken wings were $24 (diabolical). The pizza was $25. The pie was $15. In total, our bill came out to $195 before tip. Keep in mind that we didn't get any entrees, but looking at this, I'm glad we didn't. If I were to return, I would only order drinks, which would still result in a sizable bill as each one is the price of a reasonable entree. I can't speak on the entrees, but I do think the food we did order was overpriced for what it was. Averaging out the amazing drinks with the.. "hmm.. should this be $25" food, I think that 4 stars is a fair rating.

We visited Monkeypod Kitchen last night for dinner and waited 45 minutes for a table. During that time, we waited at the bar and enjoyed some yummy mocktails. The bar can definitely get busy, but I enjoyed my non-alcoholic mai tai, and the bartender was very helpful and friendly. Listening to live music and looking at Diamond Head and the rest of the beach during sunset were great! Unfortunately, the bar was the only highlight of our visit. We were seated at the far end of the restaurant, closest to Diamond Head. The heat of the kitchen kept pouring out (despite being several tables away). This made our visit unbearable. Food was slow to arrive and just fine - bad value, but on par for Waikiki. Service was non-existent.

Monkeypod is always a vibe. The service, the drinks, the attention to detail... always so good. Best place to get a good mai tai. This time around though, skip the lobster deviled eggs honestly not it. Weird flavor combo for lobster. Get a different app and you'll have a much better time lol.

Come for the good food, gorgeous view and good service! Unlike many of the other large, touristy restaurant chains in Waikiki, this is one of the better ones. Make sure to make reservations and ask for a view of the water! You absolutely must get the ahi tuna, lobster deviled eggs, macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, wood-fired pizza, and banana cream pie. People love their mai tais, but I didn't try it out. Their wine list could be better but hey, when in Hawaii, get a tropical drink! It'll photo better with that ocean view.

We had a great time at Monkeypod Kitchen, the atmosphere was upbeat and lively and the drinks were delicious. We had appetizers at the bar and enjoyed a great conversation with people from our hometown. There was live music and a relaxed ambiance. We will definitely come back for dinner. read more

Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time to avoid the line. Once seated our waiter Ian was perfect! There is a beautiful view of the ocean and the drinks were delicious. Highly recommend the taro ravioli. read more

Came here twice during a trip for happy hour. Drinks are good, so is the pizza. The garlic fries are just okay, surprisingly low on flavor. Really nice view of the ocean but the sun comes down into the open windows so don't go for a table by the water. read more

I'd give this place 4 stars if it wasn't grossly overpriced. Great spot, centrally located in Waikiki over looking the beach with a really great interior space. Good drink selection; large variety of beers on draft and amazing cocktails - this is likely where this place excels. The food is decent; I'd say it's good at best but at the prices they charge it's definitely not worth it. They add a "4% kitchen surcharge" to the final bill; what the heck is that?! As if the mediocre food prices weren't outrageous enough. The service was okay, but it constantly felt like the waitstaff was understaffed and overwhelmed while at the same time they have a bunch of useless hostesses standing at the entrance that are doing nothing, adding no value and are simply worthless/unhelpful. This place has areas for improvement, and I'd recommend skipping it until they decide to make some of the easy adjustments I mentioned. read more

Came for happy hour posted on their website. Ordered food which I would say was a 7/10. When going to pay they said they couldn't honor the happy hour due to it was a holiday 'NYE". Even if NYE was a holiday which it isn't a federal holiday , it's kinda crazy to make people pay normal prices when they have the happy hour listed at that time with nothing about holidays mentioned. read more

This space used to be the Shorebird, one of my very favorite restaurants in Waikiki. The space has been reconfigured and now the bar is no longer along the beach, but does have a beach view. I had the mahi mahi sandwich and it was awesome! My wife had the burger and loved it. Both were the best that we've had here in Waikiki! read more

Well, the Mai tai', just do it don't even think about another drink. The mango foam makes the drink unique and delicious as it seeps into your cocktail. Decent happy hour specials, for food and drinks. The pizza- pork pineapple jalapeño was excellent. Ahi tuna tacos were great, and a ton of tuna that just melts in your mouth. The shrimp and mushroom potstickers were also a delightful surprise, they give you some dipping sauces which are spicy but I just used the regular sauce which was a soy sauce teriyaki type and all I needed. Not to mention the view is amazing if you can get a table on the water. Next door are some great spots for photo taking. Great experience! read more

Monkeypod Kitchen came highly recommended by word of mouth via a Lyft driver. She said that she had given someone a ride earlier that day and the stated that Monkeypod was their favorite part of their vacation. We decided to try it out for lunch and it did not disappoint. Our server, Naomi, was fantastic! She was very attentive and ever tried to cheer up our moody teenager by bring her a virgin drink. It did bring a smile to her face. The food was excellent and fresh. We started with the chicken wings which were excellent: I was concerned about have a yogurt as a dipping sauce, but it paired well with the flavor of the wings. We had the fish sandwich and the fish and chips. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly. This will be on our list of "must visit" on our next trip. read more

If you ever get the chance to visit Monkey Pod Waikiki ask for Corey...you will be blown away and feel so welcomed. Absolutely way more than 5 stars! read more

Five stars for the overall vibe of the restaurant. You're definitely paying for the view which is literally on the beach. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and still had a beautiful panoramic view if the ocean. Food was good but not something I'd ever crave. I'd come again but not for the food. Awesome!!!! Ate here the other night. As a resident It was fun to go to into Waikiki and eat. Love the ambience here. Like Dukes but not that tourist feel. Good vibe. Staff was phenomenal - Kale was the best server. You da man! Food was fantastic. Crusted Mahi Mahi, Seared Ahi Steak, Hamakua Pizza - all really good. Poke Tacos, Pumpkin Patch Ravioli appetizers were amazing. Monkeypod is a must when in Waikiki. read more

The name of the restaurant comes from one of the Charlie Chan mystery books written by Earl Derr Biggers in the late-1920's. The legend is that Biggers, a Honolulu police detective, wrote his Chan books in the back yard of a friend that lived in a house where the hotel is now located. WOW!!! Unreal. This Key Lime Pie deserves a permanent place on your menu--truly. We've had desserts all over, and this is, without question, the single best dessert we have ever had. From the very first bite, it's an experience. The toasted meringue--done just a touch extra--hits your palate first with a delicate, lightly crisped sweetness that melts into a soft, cloud-like texture. It's warm, airy, and comforting all at once. Then comes the filling... and wow. The lime is absolutely perfect--bright and vibrant with just the right balance of tart tang and smooth sweetness. It's refreshing without being sharp, indulgent without being heavy. And then... the crust. That thick, nearly half-inch graham cracker crust is something special. Rich, buttery, and deeply satisfying--it tastes like it's been soaked in the most heavenly amount of butter imaginable. It grounds the whole dessert in a way that makes every bite feel complete. My husband and I visited Monkeypod twice during our trip, once just the two of us and another time with our family, and both visits were fantastic. The service was consistently friendly and efficient, and the food really impressed us. The first time we went, we were seated near the window with a partial ocean view. Even though we weren't right up against the water, we still got to enjoy a gorgeous sunset, which made for a great dining experience. I ordered the Hamakua Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pizza ($23), and it was absolutely delicious. On our second visit, I ordered the same pizza again (still just as amazing), and my husband tried the Lobster Deviled Eggs ($23). While he thought they were delicious, we both agreed they weren't worth the price. There were only four eggs and just a tiny shaving of lobster on top. The little bit of lobster added didn't reflect the premium price tag. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their meals. We were fortunate to be seated right by the water's edge, with a stunning view of the sunset over the ocean - the perfect setting for a memorable evening. What truly elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional service provided by our waitress Maddy. From the moment we were greeted, her warm demeanor and genuine passion for her role shone through. In an era where outstanding service seems increasingly rare, Maddy was an absolute gem - attentive, knowledgeable, and sincerely committed to ensuring we had a wonderful time. The food itself was simply divine. The cocktails- signature MaiTai w/lilikoi foam, white walker, old fashion and Hana Koa lager all YUM. We then started with the mouthwatering lobster deviled eggs before savoring the incredible macadamia nut pesto crusted mahi over homemade gnocchi - an explosion of flavors that left us wanting more. Our friends raved about the catch of the day and the grilled mahi over jalapeño mashed potatoes that were so delicious, we joked about ordering a whole bowl on their own. Maddy then treated us to a slice of the strawberry cream pie for dessert along with a champagne toast- a sweet finale that perfectly capped off the night. We raised a glass to celebrate 40 years of friendship and toasted to cherished memories with one who is dearly missed. Monkeypod provided us with far more than just a meal - it was a truly special experience made possible by the stellar food, breathtaking ambiance, and most of all, Maddy's impeccable service. The menu offers something for everyone, from upscale burgers and wood-fired pizzas to fresh local fish and perfectly prepared steaks. I was especially impressed by the variety of fresh vegetables and salads, many of which tasted like they were sourced locally and prepared with care. Their extensive adult beverage menu is equally impressive, featuring local favorites alongside creative cocktails and premium selections. The setting is absolutely stunning. The ocean views create the perfect backdrop for a special occasion, date night, or simply an evening where you want to embrace the Hawaiian vibe. The dress code is comfortably in the middle--no need to dress up formally, but leave the swimwear at the beach. Service was excellent throughout our visit. Every employee we encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, adding to the overall experience. As for pricing, it's very reasonable for the Waikiki area. It's certainly not a budget restaurant, but it also doesn't come with the outrageous prices often associated with resort dining. Monkeypod Kitchen - Outrigger Reef Hotel Monkeypod Kitchen is a vibrant oceanfront restaurant located at the Outrigger Reef hotel. Even with a reservation, we experienced a wait before being seated. The atmosphere is energetic and bustling, and if you're lucky enough to get a table with an ocean view, it truly elevates the dining experience. Parking can be tricky. Valet parking is the most convenient option and comes at a reduced rate with restaurant validation. Alternatively, you might find a spot in nearby garages--note that the Post Office lot offers hourly parking after 6:00 PM. The restaurant was packed for a Thursday night at 8:00 PM and stayed busy well into the evening. What we ordered: Shrimp & Mushroom Potstickers - Pleasantly flavorful, with mushrooms that didn't overpower the dish. Roasted Chicken Wings - These turned out to be all chicken drumettes, which felt misleading given the menu description. Unfortunately, the meat was very tough and we had to return the entire order. Avocado Cucumber Salad - Light, refreshing, and well-balanced. Fish & Lobster Pasta and Bulgogi Pork Tacos - Both solid choices with great flavor. The highlight of the meal was dessert--the banana cream pie was outstanding! Keep in mind that this is a loud, high-energy spot. It's not ideal for quiet conversation or if you have a soft voice. Wow is a understatement. 5/5 I've dined at Monkeypod twice recently, and both times I had the pleasure of being served by Ian and Nick--they were absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, the service was top-notch. They were attentive without being overbearing, super friendly, and made the whole experience feel personal and fun. Both visits felt consistent in quality, which says a lot about their professionalism and teamwork. They made great recommendations, kept everything flowing smoothly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. It's rare to find servers who genuinely make you feel like a valued guest, but Ian and Nick do exactly that. The service was prompt and friendly, which was a positive aspect. However, the food quality was a major letdown. I ordered the Farmers Benedict, which was advertised as featuring mixed greens with champagne vinaigrette, a poached egg, and jalapeño hollandaise. Unfortunately, the mixed greens were missing the promised champagne vinaigrette, and the poached egg was overcooked, resulting in a hard yolk. While the jalapeño hollandaise was flavorful and a unique touch, it couldn't compensate for the other shortcomings. Overall, while the atmosphere and service were satisfactory, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. I would be hesitant to recommend Monkeypod Kitchen Waikiki based on this experience. read more

I had the ahi steak, which sounded promising but turned out bland and lacking any real depth of flavor. The cornbread was dry and felt oddly out of place with the rest of the menu--more of a filler than a feature. Service was equally disappointing. Staff seemed disengaged and inattentive, which made the overall experience feel rushed and impersonal. If you're coming for the view and a drink, it might be worth a stop. I recently visited Monkey Pods in Maui while the ambiance and atmosphere were pleasant, I must admit that I was disappointed with the quality of their mai tais and customer service. The passion fruit flavor was overly sweet, which doesn't compliment the flavor of mai tais and when I expressed my dissatisfaction to the bartender, she swiftly retreated without offering an alternative or suggesting another drink option. Luckily, we didn't have a chance to try their food, as it would have been concerning if the drinks were indicative of the overall taste and quality of the menu. Perhaps we dodged a bullet in that regard. If you're seeking a recommendation, I highly suggest visiting Hulu Grill instead.
