I remember when there were lines out the door, the room was packed and everyone happily waited because the food was worth it. The grass jelly was balanced instead of bitter. The taro stayed soft and chewy. The sesame balls practically burst with black sesame filling and the mochi had that fresh, stretchy texture that kept you ordering another round. Even the drinks felt thoughtfully made. After several years away, I finally came back with my kids hoping to relive some of those memories. Instead, it felt like a completely different place. The menu has been stripped down, a lot of the customization is gone and some of the signature items just aren't what they used to be. The grass jelly now has an unpleasant bitterness. The sesame balls still have good flavor inside, but the filling no longer melts the way it once did. The mochi is noticeably firmer and the taro starts off fine before quickly becoming hard and chewy. The bigger disappointment was the service. Even though the store was mostly empty, the staff acted like helping customers was an inconvenience. We were friendly, said thank you, had our kids saying thank you and it was met with blank stares and indifference. It's hard to support a business when it feels like they don't want you there. The restaurant also feels neglected. The restroom still isn't pleasant, dirty trays sat around for far too long and the whole place lacked the energy that made it special years ago. I genuinely wanted this place to succeed because it introduced a lot of people to desserts I grew up with. But nostalgia can only carry a restaurant so far. I came here to pick up the signature Red Bean soup (4/5) which comes with two big scoops of taro, tanyuan (sesame filled mochi balls), sweet potato mochi, red bean, and boba all in a warm, sweetened red bean soup! I really enjoyed the toppings in this one with the tanyuan being filled with sweetened black sesame, the taro being lightly sweetened that went so well with the red bean soup, and the boba and sweet potato mochi consistency was so bouncy. I do wish they gave more of the sweet potato mochi balls or more of the mochi balls but the regular serving at $10/11 is a nice size for one person if hungry or two if just for dessert. I always love coming to Meet Fresh after eating in the Diamond Jamboree plaza for dessert. The store is spacious with plenty of seating. Even on a Tuesday night there was a lot of people eating here. We ordered the crystal mochi milk shaved ice which came out fast and was delicious and big enough for us to share amongst 4 girls. We were waiting on our hot items that we ordered - Hot Grass Jelly combo and Bubble waffle. We were waiting for almost 30 min and we never saw our number move out of the In Progress to Ready on the digital board. The staff wasn't calling out numbers either and where we were sitting we were far from their serving area. When we finally went to check up on our order, apparently it's been sitting out there for a long time and our hot items already cooled down. We asked for them to reheat our bubble waffle so at least it's warm. I think the staff wasn't updating any of the orders that it's ready on the board bc all the parties around us had to go check on their order. The food is still consistent but all the customers can only count on that order board to get our order. Same as the other location in Tustin, service was very slow even though they have five (5) associates working behind the counter and making dessert I stood there for a long time and no one even acknowledged my presence nor asked me what I needed, or how they can help me. I realized that they have a self-order kiosk but someone has been on it forever doing his orders for a table of four. I finally had to ask out loud to get their attention if I can order. There are puddles on the floor (fall hazard AND sanitation violation). The door and walls are black with dirt. The whole restroom smells like wet dog and is humid. I think this type of Taiwanese shaved ice is meant to be more on the light side, I prefer sweeter desserts. Orders can be placed through 2 in-store digital panels or at the counter. Adding toppings can be fun, but the cost will add up quite quickly. We ordered the following: Icy Taro Ball Signature with 1/2 Sugar: The shaved ice was smooth, and all toppings were fresh and delicious. Firstly my boba pearls were given on the side in a container which was off because it's usually given to me in to-go bowl. Once I opened the boba container, it emitted a burnt smell, but I added it to my tofu anyway thinking it wouldn't be a problem. But when I put it in my mouth, all of the boba pearls tasted burnt. The bowl itself was delicious and super refreshing for a warm day, and also especially after having some hot soup. It comes with a side of half and half that you add to the bowl. When you first walk in, they take your order quickly, but then the waiting begins... and it's way longer than it should be. The most frustrating part was that no one was calling out numbers, so there was no way of knowing where I stood in line. More people were sitting around waiting than there were actually eating or drinking. After the long wait, I had to go up and ask for an update. Turns out, they had lost my order, and they had to make it from scratch at that point. Once we finally got the dessert, we noticed a strange "hair-like" object in the bowl that definitely wasn't part of the dessert. I didn't even want to eat anything at that point, and we ended up leaving after an hour of wasted time. Let's start with the biggest problem: OC Health Department shut them down in April 2026 and again in May 2026; both times for cockroach infestation. Think about that next time you're thinking about eating here. Unfortunately I had eaten there the Sunday afternoon before their shutdown. Their restroom was filthy. Stains and nasty grime in the sink area. Floor littered with bits of TP all over. Little water puddles everywhere. Yes, everywhere. I get that some customers are filthy animals but this restroom had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. Tables are sticky. Not just the tops of the tables but the sides and the legs were sticky as well. The chair cushions seemed OK but the wooden parts were definitely dirty. The furniture looks haphazardly placed. Nobody tidies up the place and likely nobody cleans. There was a total of probably four or five customers at the time I walked in, on a Sunday afternoon. Yet it took 15 minutes to get my grass jelly order. And speaking of order - the guy who took our order sported a significant indifference to order taking. He didn't say a word. I didn't know what to expect here, so I ordered their special chocolate waffle ice cream, man was that a good choice! Freshly made chocolate waffle with ice cream inside...how can you go wrong. I ordered the condensed milk and the taro for toppings. The taro came warm and fresh (it tasted like pure taro). Each waffle nugget had chocolate inside. The waffle takes a little bit longer to make but it's worth the wait. The best part is the end when the ice cream is melted at the bottom of the cup and you still have some waffle nuggets...it's my secret delicious ending (like the middle of a cinnamon roll). I had been meaning to stop by Meet Fresh for a while, so I walked in with decent expectations. Unfortunately, things went downhill almost immediately. We weren't greeted by anyone when we entered, no hello, no acknowledgment, nothing. It's a small thing, but it sets the tone and what management cares about in this business. When our order was ready, we headed up to the counter to grab our drinks, and the customer service did not improve. The drink we were handed was made incorrectly, and when we brought it to their attention, there was no apology, no "let me fix that," not even a nod of acknowledgment. What happened next genuinely surprised me: instead of remaking it fresh, they poured the drink into a separate container and microwaved it before handing it back to re-serve. I've been to a lot of dessert and tea spots, and that was a first. To round things out, the space itself felt stuffy and a little uncomfortable, which didn't help an already underwhelming visit. I really wanted to like this place, and I get that everyone has off days, but between the lack of a greeting, the dismissive service, and the microwaved drink, it's hard to recommend. Our Signature tofu pudding was good today. A little lukewarm, but texture was silky, fresh, and consistent. Sadly we had a previous experience that was old and slightly sour. I liked that we were able to customize the order to no added sweetener, this balanced out sweetness from the toppings. I wish there was a way to customize base tofu pudding with different toppings, but I think you'd still have to pay for unwanted ones. It feels like they simplified the menu and took away options. It's also interesting to note the Irvine Meet Fresh offers cooked peanuts as a topping in lieu of red beans compared to the Tustin store. They have a loyalty program, but will change it on a whim without notification. You don't get your points transferred or compensated so always use your rewards ASAP bc you never know when you'll lose them. Lastly, they have very disgusting restrooms! The floors are wet, smelly, and gross. The toilets don't flush properly either. It makes you wonder how they treat the kitchen and handle food if they can't even keep the restrooms clean.
