Got our usual takeout today (corn chicken dumplings) with hot and sour soup. My 11 year old spit out a piece of hard sharp plastic that was in one of the dumplings! I thought maybe it was an uncooked cornel, but it's broken plastic!! He could've swallowed this!! This is seriously a liability!! I called the store and they said it probably could've been a piece of utensil used to mix the filling.
So good! Our party of three got two orders of the beef noodle soup and one order of the dumplings which was perfect. Food only takes about seven minutes so perfect for a quick bite. The restaurant is fun with music and history about the place. I would definitely come back!!
Came to Bafang Dumpling one weekday night and they were pretty busy. At first there were no seats, so we ordered to go, but then a table opened up so we ended up staying to eat there anyway. We waited about 20 minutes for the food which felt a little long, but not terrible considering how packed it was. They are more of a togo kind of place The potstickers were my favorite. The thin size and the texture make them so fun to eat, and they had a really nice crisp on the bottom. I could honestly just eat those on their own and be happy. I got the special Lunar New Year set which came with their signature dumplings in beef noodle soup. The broth was really good, rich and comforting, but I actually preferred the potstickers over the dumplings in the soup. Still tasty, just not my personal favorite style. We also got their signature noodles which had a nice kick to it and really good chewy noodles. Super satisfying if you like a bit of spice.
For being a dumpling place, there wasn't anything special about these. Got the signature dumplings and signature potstickers, and both were on the blander side. Definitely reminded me of frozen section dumplings and potstickers. Sauces were also underwhelming. Didn't eat in, so can't speak to service or ambiance, but I won't be back.
Bafang Dumpling is a well known franchise started in Taiwan, now with several locations in the US. Located in the same strip mall with 99 Ranch Market at Jeffrey and Walnut near Fwy 5, this is a convenient location for people in Orange County. While I'm here for pot stickers today, but their braised beef noodle is equally famous. I'm also interested to try the new item on the list: pork chop with braised pork rice. I arrived 2:30 to avoid the lunch crowd. They have several tables of guests but no long line. The young man taking orders was courteous and efficient. The hardest part was waiting for my order as they are made to order. I'm glad I have a Bafang nearby.
This is our go to Taiwanese restaurant on busy nights. They recently added pork chop rice to the menu and it's only $10 and it's delicious, authentic, and homey. Their pork chop, in my opinion, is the best tasting in California, reminiscent of the Pork Chops King in Taiwan that I really missed but have retired. They are not the same but closest to my ideal favorite that I can find in California. I love their spicy noodles and perfectly fried dumplings as well. I love their sauce of the spicy noodles. It has a very unique taste that's different than the spicy Chinese noodles at other stores. Their place is always kept pretty clean. The people there are usually pretty friendly. I've visited a few BaFang's in Taiwan as it's a popular chain in Taiwan. I like the owners spin on their version of BaFang for US.
Bafang Dumpling was delicious!!! We got the gyoza and the Taiwanese beef noodle soup which both were so tasty and flavorful. I personally LOVED the noodle soup. The service was great and the food was prepared quickly. Definitely recommend Bafang dumpling for a quick bite!
There are plenty of parking spaces, but if you want to park in front of the restaurant, it may be limited. Inside the store, has limited seating as well, but it doesn't get packed where it's hard to find a spot. I ordered the Number 2: 12 Signature Potstickers with Wonton Soup. They have a small station where you can get vinegar and soy sauce. The potstickers were crispy and delicious. The Wonton Soup was also good, with the wontons and surprisingly in a decently sized bowl. I thought it was a smaller portion, but it wasn't. It was a good meal! Update to my earlier reviews of this place. Many of you probably have never been to Taiwan in the summer. I have many times, and I do not miss the heat. What I do miss is my go to staple: pork chop and rice. Yes, the working man's meal for millions of Taiwanese workers. They are stuffed into little metal lunch boxes with a fancy chip on the end to keep the food fresh. The working man's lunch is a pork chop, rice, meat sauce, tofu, pickles, and a veggie. Oh, if you have lived in Taiwan, this is making complete sense to you. Guess what? I have good news! Bafang has now created this meal and is selling it for just $10.00 It is as authentic as it gets. The line should be out the door for this. Thank you for restoring a memory in my life.
I didn't get a chance to take the rest of the photos but here's the full experience. The food overall was decent, though the fried chicken didn't taste good at all... it seemed like a tired, over‑fried item and definitely not something I'd order again. The rest of the dishes were better, but the service felt lacking -- no greeting, no smile, and not much engagement . Maybe it was just an off day or simply their style of service, but it didn't leave the best impression.
tried bafang and it was pretty yummy! I liked the old fashioned noodles the most bc it was chewy and simple~ not too crazy on flavor but it was comforting in a way. potstickers were good! tastes like home cooking. pork chop Lu rou fan was also pretty delish. would come back again bc its cheap and cozy and tasty :D it's mainly self service bc you order first at the front and then pick it up when its ready. you also get your own sauce and drinks on the side. and at the end, u have to put your own trays, dishes, and trash away
I heard of Bafang Dumpling for a while now but when I went myself I was really surprised to see how they're basically a casual fastfood concept of a dumpling restaurant that originatd in Taiwan. I cross-checked with my Taiwanese friend and they mentioned how this cheap eats in Taiwan is a big rip off by compare over in the states. Not that it's expensive but it's low quality and not that cheap. I ordered the Combo #3 ($14.95) that came with 6 Signature Potstickers and 6 Signature Dumplings and my choice of a soda or soup. I opted for the hot and soup soup. They give you a pager that goes off when your food is ready. There was limited seating and it was really cramped. Self serve on sauces and utensils. I didn't see staff cleaning my whole time there. When I got my food I initially excited to try it... but biting into it was disappointing. Both fillings were more cabbage than meat. Super blandddd. The hot and sour soup was on the chunky side, which I like in texture, but I did not like in taste. I am definitely not coming bad. Doesn't look like I was missing out on anything.
You know, if the fast food chains that we have around here were more like the fast food chains in Asia, I imagine that the typically negative reputation that so many of them have would be rosier. I know that might sound hyperbolic, but much less so when you consider folks in Taiwan get to enjoy having the likes of Bafang Dumplings so readily available! Funny enough, even though my gf was already familiar and a fan of Bafang from her previous visits to Taiwan, what actually brought us here was the fact that they were one of the only places in the area that was still open for us to grab a late dinner when we got into town. That being said, despite our circumstances being the main reason why we came here, I certainly would've been curious to check out a "fast food noodles and dumpling chain". Of course, it didn't hurt that the menu didn't look too shabby. Although it may not be ridiculously extensive, it has all of the important things - beef noodle soup, sesame noodles, dumplings, potstickers, and more! -- SIGNATURE POTSTICKERS with Pork and Napa Cabbage Filling These were terrific! Each piece was pretty sizable and had a perfectly golden brown crust on the bottom. Also, I really liked how juicy and delicious the fillings were. -- BEEF NOODLE SOUP I was cautiously optimistic for this one and it didn't disappoint! The noodles were cooked well and I thought the beef was really juicy. I do wish the broth had a bit more body/richness to it, but it was still rather beefy and quite flavorful. -- OLD FASHIONED NOODLES Ehh...this was fine. The noodles had a decent bite to them with a subtle sesame flavor. Personally, I thought the taste was too subtle, but it was a plus that it did help offset the soy and chili oil when I would dip the potstickers into them. -- BAFANG PORK CHOP Not bad, but a little uneven for me. On the plus side, the texture of the batter was far more soggy than crispy. On the other, the pork was surprisingly moist and the seasoning and overall flavor was great. -- BAFANG SIGNATURE DUMPLINGS with Pork and Napa Cabbage Filling Just as classic as it is good. The dumplings were pretty plump and the filling had a good ratio of pork to cabbage. However, the best thing about these were the skin - just the right thickness and they weren't the least big soggy or overcooked. -- CORN & CHICKEN DUMPLINGS Not as good as their Signature Dumplings, though, to be fair, I'm not as big of a fan of corn & chicken dumplings. While the skins were still fine, the filling wasn't as impressive - somewhat bland with a stronger taste of corn than chicken. Compared to what you can get from one of the many Taiwanese restaurants around, Bafang's noodles and dumplings do have a bit of a "previously frozen/mass produced" feel to them. However, the food here is still pretty solid for what it is and undeniably convenient for a quick meal, whether you're looking to dine in or grabbing your food to-go. This may not be the first place I'd look to hit up again when I'm back in town, but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to coming back for more. Can't wait until they open in the Bay Area so I can try their frozen dumplings at home as well!
We ordered takeout since we were on a time crunch but I wish I could try this while it was fresh and hot. Their combos are a really good deal! I got the potsticker combo with the corn chowder. Not sure if the cornstarch settled down during transport but the soup was a bit watery. The potstickers were really good and I'd imagine that they'd be crispier when fresh!! The beef dry noodles had so much flavor and I'd choose that over the bafang signature noodles. Definitely try the fried pork chop and I'd pass on the spicy wontons. They had no flavor /: I like their dumpling sauce but they didn't have any chili crisp which was lowkey a let down. Overall a really solid meal regardless!! read more
Saw this place when they first opened, and we finally got to try this Taiwanese chain for the first time the other day. Respectfully, I'm not a stranger to Taiwanese comfort food, which I love! This place will hit the spot if you're super hungry like we were...lol. Their menu is straight forward. You place and pay for your order at the counter and snag a table if it's not too full in there. Fortunately we came around 4pm, which is perfect for those who like to eat dinner early like us. There were open tables everywhere, so I was surprised by the lack of cleanliness in there that day. A few table tops weren't wiped off (food and water marks left over), and the trash can was overflowing (my pet peeve, so had to minus a point!!). Hopefully they'll be on top of it for next time though. Okay 'nuff said about that... Order up (4 stars for their food): - Pork Chop with Braised Pork Belly Rice (not pictured...my husband said it was just a tad sweeter than what he's used to, but he still enjoyed it!). - Combo #8. Old Fashioned Noodle with Bafang Pork Chop (great flavor and perfect chew on the noods for me. The pork chops were so tender and juicy!). Saw someone order the Beef Noodle Soup...super huge! Food thumbs down! Signature Potstickers - not crispy, super thin and no flavor. Prefer real Japanese potstickers these seem to be emulating. Signature noodles - The "mala" spicy sauce has an off putting flavor. Noodles too soft. Go to any Chinese restaurant for better noodles. Pork chop braised pork rice - soggiest smallest pork chop ever. Tiny chopped braised pork. Surprisingly small portion like little kids size. Does not hold up to Vietnamese pork chop rice, Japanese/Korean Katsu, which this dish seems to be reminiscent of. read more

Easy parking + no wait time + casual dine-in/takeout + cheap prices for good food. Ordered their signature noodles ($8) and pork chop with braised pork belly rice ($10). Noodles were okay, but we were surprised by how good the rice bowl was. The pork and veggies had the perfect flavor and texture. Would recommend the rice bowl. read more
I heard the owner is the same one behind 85°C in DJ, so I had high expectations! and they didn't disappoint! I got to sample a bit of everything, but the standout dish was definitely the beef noodle soup. The broth was rich, the beef tender, and the radish? Mind-blowing. You have to try the original dumplings! don't forget to dip them in both the hot sauce and soy garlic sauce for that perfect flavor combo. Game-changer! There was a small mix-up with my to-go order (they forgot the noodles), but the manager handled it quickly and professionally, remade the dish in just a few minutes and even offered complimentary drinks to make up for it. Really appreciated that level of service. It does get a little loud inside during peak hours, but there's plenty of seating. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving bold, comforting flavors and great hospitality. read more
Was looking forward to potstickers after watching YouTubers talk about how good they are in Taiwan. But honestly quite disappointed. Got the potstickers and wonton soup combo #2...the signature potstickers didn't have much flavors, even after I dipped them into the garlic soy sauce. The chili pepper fried chicken was kind of strange, stringy meat. Pork chop was decent. Maybe the Bafang in Taiwan are better...the Irvine one needs to work on elevating flavors. read more
I was craving some sort of Asian food and stumbled upon this place. I ended up ordering the #4 signature noodle, signature potsticker and a side of spicy Won Ton. I'll start off by saying how clean this place is even the restrooms service is also very good. Now the food. Everything was delicious. The Won Tons had a slight touch of spice but not bad. The noodles were amazing. I want a larger serving next time. The potstickers were also delicious. I loved my food, and would definitely come back. read more

Stopped in here for 3 reasons. 1) I've been following this spot since it took over the 76 gas station. 2) Strong marketing on Instagram. 3) Pai Gu Fan? Say less. Came here on a Friday post lunch rush. Very nice and clean inside, modern, which Pepsi products for fountain. Ordered the Pork chop rice and a side of their signature noodles. Porkchop was decent. Had that ground pork on top with the belly, some pickled cucumbers, and it reminded me of good Pai Gu Fan we used to always eat. Signature noodles were pretty good for $8. Slight peanutty taste like Dan Dan Noodle, with that Mala kick. The dumplings were good, nothing crazy... but a good solid crisp with slight chew.... they had bags too at a very good price to cook at home! Although it took longer to get (we had all finished our food before my friend's dish was ready) the chicken was by far the best tasting of the bunch. The sauce that accompanied it was very bright and flavorful. I would order that next time for sure. Owner on the floor speaks volumes to how much they care. I respect that. Price is fair considering the location. I definitely would like to come back and try their other items. read more

Had to try this chain after having it multiple times in Taiwan :) Food was good, but still better in Taiwan. We tried: Signature Noodles, Veggie Dumplings, Spicy Mala Noodle, & Chicken & Corn Potstickers. I love that they have a self serve sauce bar that has soy sauce, garlic soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, & a spicy sauce. I'm removing one star because the service was meh. When we walked in, no one greeted us. They just waited for us to approach them to order. Then, once we were eating, I spilled my soft drink and they just pretended like they didn't see me struggling, instead spacing out while looking through the windows. Would've been nice to have some assistance, and also so that their floors wouldn't be sticky, but they were careless. It's ok. I just used a lot of the napkins to clean up. read more

We really enjoyed bafang inside of the brea mall, so we were glad to see that they have a brick and mortar location near heytea. Bafang seems to be super accommodating when ordering. We ordered the combo 8. They let us sub the noodles and the protein. We ended up with the sesame noodles and the chicken cutlet. We also got an order of the corn and chicken potstickers and the veggie dumplings. Everything tasted great. The sesame noodles needed a bit of vinegar and spice to really elevate the flavor, but thats provided for the customers. The sauce that came with the cutlet was fantastic. I personally preferred the veggie dumplings over the potstickers, but both were delicious. Can't really go wrong with anything you choose. Will definitely be back soon read more
Came here for the first time on a Thursday for dinner around 6pm. Bafang is an order at the counter and then sit-down type of restaurant, and it wasn't very busy, so we were able to find some seating inside! From looking Kathie menu, it seems they offer a lot of dumplings, potstickers, and noodle dishes. ~the food~ - Signature Dumplings: I really loved the dumplings here! They were super juicy and flavorful on the inside, and the dumpling skin was on the thicker side, but it added a "homemade" feel to them that I really enjoyed! I think this could've been elevated by some sort of sauce (besides the self-serve soy sauce, vinegar, etc), but I still enjoyed the dumplings! - Mala Noodles: The noodles had a nice chew to them which I really liked, but the flavoring wasn't my favorite. I feel that it was missing that mala spice and was a bit oily. I think they could revamp the flavoring of this noodle dish, but not too bad. I initially ordered these two things separately, but the staff kindly offered to customize Combo #4 to my order, so my total was cheaper than I was expecting! I thought that was very considerate of them to do so, especially without me having to ask. ~parking~ There's a lot of parking in the plaza, but the plaza can be pretty busy as there's a lot of popular restaurants, HEYTEA, Ranch 99, etc, but usually you can find a spot somewhere! ~overall~ I'd say pricing is very reasonable, dumplings are very good, noodles are ok, service/staff is very friendly! I like coming here for authentic Taiwanese comfort food. They have Mala beef noodle soup and delicious potstickers. We ordered the combo 4 (6 signature potstickers and Bafang signature noodle) for $13.75 and a side of pork chop for $8.95. Very clean interior with a nice modern decor. Staff super friendly. Everything tasted good. They even have to go items that you can purchase. Small parking lot in the front. Will be back here soon. read more

Loved seeing the dumplings being made by hand in the back as soon as I walked up to counter! Staff were helpful in choosing items to try. We had to get the signature dumplings and signature crispy pot stickers! The Pork Chop with Braised Pork Belly Rice was packed with flavor and the mini wonton soup was exactly what I wanted! Whenever it's a bit chilly, I always crave the comfort of a savory, hot noodle soup dish, and the Beef Noodle Soup at Bafang Dumpling perfectly fits the bill! This was my 3rd visit and everything was just as delicious and satisfying as I remembered. The Beef Noodle Soup broth was complex, savory, and good to the very last sip. The noodles had nice texture, and the beef and daikon chunks were tender and packed with flavor! The signature dumplings were also very satisfying, especially when mixed with their hot sauce and garlic soy sauce. So good! Last but not least, the fried pork chop is a must order, especially if you like five spice - the breading is seasoned so well and the pork is so tender and juicy. I'm obsessed! We stopped in for their house special dumplings and wonton soup (it's their #2 combo). Restaurant is clean with parking. Staff is ao friendly. The dumplings are large & packed with flavors. They have a sauce bar where u can make your own dipping sauce. The wonton soup came out HOT! Plenty of wonton in a perfect both with cilantro. This is a great restaurant. This is a popular dumpling chain in Taiwan that has been opening locations in So Cal and I'm so happy that there's one in Irvine now. It's in the busy 99 Ranch plaza so parking can be challenging. But they have online ordering so if you time it right, you might find parking just in time to pick up your food. The restaurant is clean and bright with tables for dining in, although a lot of people do take out. My go-to is the Combo #8 ($16.50) with Chili Pepper Fried Chicken and Old Fashioned Noodles. The chicken is crispy and reminds me of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. It pairs well with the chili sauce which is what gives it a spicy kick. The noodles have a subtle sesame soy flavor, but are good for eating with the saltier food. The combos come with a drink but they don't have teas here yet sadly. Another favorite are the Signature Pork Dumplings ($12/ 12pcs). They're juicy and filling. The Signature Potstickers ($12/ 12pcs) are also not bad. But they're thin and if you take them to-go they don't stay crispy. Between the two, the dumplings are better. I like to buy a bag of their frozen ones to have at home. This is a great place for Taiwanese comfort food and is a good value if you're looking for cheaper eats. read more
