The food didn't match the photos/expectations. What I saw on Xiaohongshu (little red book) looked like Photo 1, but what I actually got was Photo 2. The menu has changed too -- they no longer have Taiwanese braised pork rice. They only have a "braised pork rice" option, and the pork comes in big chunks (not the usual finely braised style). We also ordered Fuqi Feipian, and it was basically flavorless. Isn't this place supposed to be Sichuan? The chili wasn't spicy at all, and overall the taste was just completely off for a $10 dish. The Chinese food scene is incredibly competitive in OC, with plenty of authentic options where it's hard to really differentiate as someone not particularly indoctrinated into the cuisine and can be intimidating with the food options and not being familiar with the language. I can totally relate as someone whose Chinese is definitely not good enough despite often being expected to. While I can't dive into the peculiarities of the cuisine here, it's pretty solid Sichuan style food that's a bit on the spicier side, for the general public, not that I would notice. The ordering process is pretty simple with a QR code, which has become pretty standard at Chinese restaurants and does make it easier if you struggle to read the menu items. They seem to be fairly new and not with the most expansive menu, with some pretty standard rice plates, but I knew I had to try out the noodles and dumplings, essentials in the cuisine. The jelly noodles made of mung beans were so refreshing on an incredibly hot day, with great texture and flavor. Though the dumplings look rather unassuming, it had such a combination of flavors that were absolutely delicious and unique in its flavor profile. They're simple dishes with incredible execution, and that's all you really need sometimes. The prices are very fair with solid portions, and you'll find yourself stuffed with a couple of dishes and not much more than $20 after tax and tip, which is absolutely solid for fresh, authentic, and delicious food. I love Sichuan food, and locally I love going to Sichuan Impressions. I went to ShuFeng Kitchen with really no expectations other than it was a new local spot, and I was genuinely surprised at how amazing the food was here. This place is located in an unassuming plaza, and it's right by a popular Indian restaurant that's a free standing building - same complex technically as Habuya just on the opposite corner. Inside is so unassuming though really clean, and the menu is pretty minimal tight compared to other local Chinese spots. Where the place shines is undoubtedly the food. One of my favorite dishes at Sichuan Impressions is their impressive dumplings - beaten out by the dumplings at Super Dumplings in orange - and now both places by here. There is something so wonderful about the noodles and wraps here. I'm not 100% sure but the noodles here taste hand made and they soak up sauces so beautifully. The wontons, dumplings, and dandan noodles were just spectacular. They look so plain but flavors do not lie, these are some of the best local noodle and dumpling related dishes I've had in a really long time. I also had the spicy hot pot and oh my goodness it was spectacular. I love ordering the Mao Cai at sichuan impressions but the spicy hot pot here takes it for me. The flavors are spectacular and what really sold me was the quality of the spicy beef. The spicy beef in the hot pot is cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned, and so high quality and tender. We also added ok the duck blood and intestines, and I haven't had better duck blood or intestines locally they were both unexpectedly phenomenal. Overall I will be a regular here when I have a Sichuan craving. We had 5 dishes total and not a single miss. Today we stumbled upon a surprisingly amazing little Sichuan restaurant in Tustin, right next to Irvine -- Shufeng Kitchen . From the outside, it looks quite ordinary, but the moment you step in, that familiar aroma of Sichuan spices instantly hits -- this place is truly a hidden gem. The staff were super friendly and recommended a few of their must-try dishes -- we went for the Golden Broth Fatty Beef Hotpot, Tengjiao Dumplings, and Green Sichuan Pepper Bullfrog Pot. These three dishes easily became the stars of the table. The Golden Broth Fatty Beef Hotpot arrived with a gorgeous golden soup base that smelled incredible -- slightly sour, mildly spicy, and rich in flavor. The thinly sliced beef cooks in just seconds, perfectly tender and juicy, soaking up all that broth flavor. Absolutely addictive! The Tengjiao Dumplings were another highlight -- silky smooth wrappers with a savory filling inside. Braised beef with rice: 6/10. The meat was okay, but at least it was tender. The fried rice was very bland. Sour beef soup hot pot: 7.5/10. Good but not the favorite of the night. The broth is flavorful, but I like the broth of the wonton dish better. It comes with rice on the side. There's more in this hot pot than I expected, which was very nice! I liked the vegetables in here. There's also vermecilli at the bottom. Side note: I saw that some people had a hot pot with a fire underneath. It is not this hot pot, but it wasn't necessary anyway. What a neat little gem we found in Tustin. Lurking in a plaza mall between Stater Bros and an Indian buffet, we were surprised we found this place at all. Staff was great. Super friendly. Attentive. Quick to order. Little to no wait time (that's including the food wait time as well). The sauce was flavorful and bursting with umami and complimented the meat filling of the dumpling. The sauce isn't too spicy or tangy but is well balanced. The jelly bean noodle was also great. It is served cold and has a similar sauce to the dumplings but is a bit more salty. It's a very refreshing dish and the noodle has a nice chewy bounce to it. Spicy hot pot was decent but not quite a hot pot I'm used to. I think if you added more toppings it would probably be better. The tofu pudding!!! Was the best I've ever had. Hubby and I decided to try this place by our house for lunch. It's a small, cute restaurant along the Stater Bros plaza. We wanted to try the braised pork rice but were told it was not available so we decided to try their Spicy Grilled Fish, medium spicy. The food arrived swiftly but let me warn you to be careful with spice levels here! The dish was inundated with dried chilis all over. The fish was really fried rather than "grilled" and simmered in this soy spice oil along with some tofu, lotus roots, wood ear mushrooms, lots of fried whole garlic and cauliflower florets. The flavor was fine but the spice definitely created bullets of sweat on our forehead and nose! The fish also was more bony rather than meaty so this dish was on the pricey side in my opinion. However, the wontons in chili oil were quite good, offering a nice balance of tanginess in the sauce. The white rice served with the fish was a little hard and undercooked, needing more water and cooking time to properly steam. Amazing Chinese food!! It's hard to find really good Chinese food surprisingly in Tustin and Irvine area but this place is my current favorite! I have tried their dumpling chicken soup, Taiwanese braised pork rice, and dan dan noodles (non spicy). Everything was so delicious! Even their nonspicy entrees are so full of flavor! Prices also very affordable. Will be coming here very often! :) read more

We rolled in here during dinner time and there wasn't a wait. They should really be more popular! The service was great, our server was very attentive to our experience and made sure we got what we needed even when we requested something off menu. The food was great, I loved the broth in the chicken soup dumplings. It was flavorful and warmed me right up. The tofu pudding was also my favorite, very creamy with a nice cool texture. I'll definitely get this again next time. It's a great casual dining place. read more
