Red wine braised beef fingers and duck ramen
Jenmy W.

Interesting Asian fusion place. I was expecting typical ramen fare, but the menu was a unique combo of Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian influenced fare. It seems they're known for their duck ramen. My husband got that. It was nice, but not something I'd personally order as I'm not a fan of duck. I got the beef rib fingers, and that was really good. Tender beef in a rich red wine sauce with potatoes and mushrooms served with rice. The portion size was small, but a good dish executed with care.

I visited Yakamoz Craft Ramen on a chilly Saturday morning. I ordered the Duck Ramen which was extremely flavorful. The broth was light yet deeply rich and flavorful. Some ramen places have broth that is too salty or heavy, but not here as I was able to finish every last drop. The duck was tender and I loved the tea-boiled quail egg and shrimp wonton as complements to the dish. The decor was fantastic and made me feel like I was in the comfort of someone's home rather than a ramen restaurant. Service was great across the board and all the staff were extremely welcoming. One of the things that stood out to me was that none of the employees were ever idle. If they weren't actively helping someone, then they were cleaning or tidying up the place. There is a limited amount of seating so anticipate a small wait during peak hours, but it's absolutely worth it.

When there's no need for words on how good the food is... It is definitely one of our favorite places to eat for high quality, delicious comfort food!

First, located in a quiet location. The strip mall has plenty of parking. They have very limited outdoor and indoor seatings. So show up early or sign in. Immediately upon entering, greeted by the waitress. She cleaned and sanitized the table from the previous patrons. It was done thoroughly. The interior decor was classy and the restroom was clean too. The background was inviting with medium cozy lighting and soft background music. The menu selection is small but has all their specials. The laksa and duck ramen were ordered. They were served within timely manner. The soup was hot and the noodles texture was right. Very delicious. I wished I had more room to ingest some karaage fried chicken. Overall, it was pleasant. I would give it a 4.8 out of 5. Will come again!

The food here always tastes fresh and clean. This is my second time back and I had to get the duck ramen again. The broth is very clean tasting and the duck meat isn't too overpowering. I saw new items on the menu so I tried it this time. I also got the Hainan chicken rice and Laksa ramen. They both had great flavors but different from the authentic versions. Since this place is known for their unique take on dishes, try to appreciate the taste and quality rather than comparing with authenticity. The restaurant is run by husband and wife duo who really values the quality of ingredients and clean tasting. If you get a chance to talk to them, they are really friendly and welcoming! They'll explain to you their vision for the restaurant and meals which can help you appreciate the dishes more. The ambiance of the restaurant is very homey. You're never rushed out of the restaurant and it just feels very calming.

It's a small, cozy spot with a rustic interior. I got the duck ramen which was so delicious; super comforting and healing, especially on a cold, rainy day. We also tried the laksa; it wasn't as rich or umami-heavy as we were hoping, but it still had good flavor. The service was really nice, and our food came out fast.

This is a super cozy and small restaurant with cafe vibes and great food! It is definitely a hidden gem. I went here on a Friday night for dinner with my partner and we were seated right away. The staff were very polite and helpful. We ordered the karaage, duck ramen, and beef noodles. I was very impressed with each dish. The karaage was super tender and moist, but also crispy. The duck ramen broth was very flavorful and the noodles were very fresh. The beef noodle broth reminded me more of pho rather than a taiwanese beef noodle soup. The broth was also very flavorful and yummy. Overall, this a great restaurant with immaculate vibes and super yummy food. Can't wait to come back again to try more of the menu.

The restaurant vibe is super different than a normal restaurant. The decoration and layout is more so you are in a cute cafe instead of a restaurant which was a nice surprise. The seating is all kinda different at each table. The menu apparently changes all the time but we got their duck ramen. The broth was on the lighter side and overall worth the try. I think the main thing that took me by surprise was the atmosphere of the whole restaurant.

I came to Yakamoz Craft Ramen, eager to try their duck ramen. My plans were dashed, as they only were offering two off-menu items that day - shrimp ramen and a chicken dish. I opted to stay and try the shrimp ramen. The interior is decorated like someone's home. Even the chairs had little socks on them, so as not to scrape the floor. For a restaurant in Irvine, it has lot of character. The shrimp ramen ($19.50) was served in a giant bowl, with two large shell-on prawns, shrimp dumpling, fish ball, tofu and sprouts. The broth was rich - you could tell that it had been simmered for hours in order to develop the flavor. Noodles are made in-house, using buckwheat and wheat flours. You can tell that Chef Taiwei Ding takes pride in the food he makes, ensuring that it's of the highest quality. Yakamoz is charming little gem! I look forward to returning for that duck ramen and seeing what else they have to offer.

Parking could be an issue during busy hours. The atmosphere is classy with an old english vibe. Service was very friendly and family-like. Food came out pretty quick. We ordered the beef ramen, duck ramen, chicken karage, beef curry and chicken curry. Overall every dish was delicious. However, i should point out to any new customers that food is not traditional japanese style. Its a bit of fusion and will taste different. The ramen soup is more of a milder flavor, more closely resembling pho to my taste buds. The curry is sweeter compared to other traditional japanese curry. With all that being said, the food was still tasty. Presentation was good. A little pricier imo, but worth a try.

A very interesting ramen place in Irvine - more of a ramen fusion type restaurant. Parking is rough when there's martial arts classes finishing - but other than those times it should be OK. Ordered the laksa and duck ramen. Both dishes were super flavorful. The laksa came with a lot of accoutrements in the dish, and the duck ramen, while having a very clean broth, had a lot of umami flavor. Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side, but given the quality of the food I think it's justified. The place really is more for smaller parties - I think their largest table can probably only sit 6 comfortably.

Our friend recommended we come try Yakamoz for their Honey-Scented Organic Black Tea from Taiwan & craft-made noodles in the ramen. This cozy restaurant felt like your Aunty's living room, and the soft jazz made the ambiance quite nice. Service was friendly and the food was solid. Im glad I wasn't too hungry because portions are a bit on the smaller side so it's not great for sharing, but the ingredients seem to be of high quality. I would've liked to see more bamboo in the ramen (we only got 4 total), and the broth wasn't my flavorful enough to list as my favorite, but it was alright. The Hainan Chicken dish was gingery as expected, but the cucumbers had a slight wasabi taste to them which made it stand out. The tea was excellent and food was good but overall, I would probably eat elsewhere at this price point.

Duck Ramen

Yakamoz provides a different yet familiar take on ramen.... With duck! First off, line can get pretty long so be prepared to wait or get here early. The menu is pretty limited in options, but each of the items we ordered were delicious (duck ramen, Wagyu ramen, and butter shrimp). The duck ramen was flavorful, savory and not too heavy. Definitely worth a try. The Wagyu ramen was even more delicious with very tender meats. The ramen are thin and chewy, leaving you not feeling heavy afterwards like some ramen. The butter shrimp was nice and buttery. Be prepared to get your hands dirty since you'll need to peel the shells. A welcomed addition to the Irvine ramen scene!

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

One day, I'll go to the Torrance location and try Hakata again. Until then...
