Been eating at Yuchun ever since they opened in Irvine (also have had naengmyun from their original LA location). As much as I want to love this place (like I used to), I can't do it anymore. We usually get naengmyun and their set meals with bulgogi. The last several times, the bulgogi set meal has been a disappointment. Today I took to-go and the quality of their food has seriously gone down. It's like they have no quality control. A few of the banchans were old (sour radish, mushy cucumbers, kimchi was sour but also did not taste good, as I know even sour kimchi can be good - this was not). They gave me a whole ton of lettuce under some banchan and under the bulgogi (which I don't get because the lettuce ends up being wilted/soggy with the hot bulgogi on top). Why not just leave that out? There was a tiny amount of Japchae and a couple gyeran Mari (which looked a mess and was unraveling). The soup was so bland and smelled like rags. In the past, the meal sets were so good, fresh, and such a great meal all around with proper amounts of each banchan. Over time, the portions have gone down, they started serving old rice and banchan and lots of filler lettuce. One time I had found a piece of metal dish scrubber in my bulgogi. Also as I waited for my food today, I received a cup of their beef broth (yuksu) which I've had numerous times from there and other naengmyun places. Upon first taste I noticed it was sour and smelled pretty bad (like wet rags again). Never has it tasted or smelled like that. I recall in the past it had a strong beef dashida smell but definitely not today. I told the cashier girl it tasted funny but I don't think she understood that I was telling her it tasted "off". I'm giving this place a couple extra stars because their naengmyun usually tastes good (although it's never consistent). In the future I'd stick to only eating naengmyun here (when they are busy so I know quality may be better due to more turnaround of ingredients). Never again will I eat anything else from here. Gave them too many chances. I really hope they figure out how to better their quality of food and keep things consistent. read more

I enjoyed the spicy cold noodles and galbi combo but for the amount of galbi it was overpriced for food court food. Almost more pricey than restaurant combo. I got two bone pieces with no meat in the galbi and considered it was $37/$38 for the combo def not worth. The cold noodles was good so I'd get that again but not doing the combo. read more

Came by the food court for lunch on a hot summer day and saw like half the crowd ordering cold noodle from this place so had to try it. I ended getting the beef one and they actually packed it with beef slices! The spicy sauce flavor was really good and soaked up well with the noodles. Solid beef short ribs from Yuchun at the Hmart food court. The flavor reminded me of a more savory version of short ribs ordered at AYCE KBBQs, but it's slightly sweet and almost smoky. These ribs were very meaty, which I appreciated, but the hefty price tag is preventing me from getting them more often. However, it's definitely convenient; I don't have to purchase my own meat, then season and marinate it for a while, and then know how to properly cook it with the right equipment. Props to the cooks and chefs at this Hmart food court. Plenty of seating is available in the middle of the food court. If you have a shopping cart with you, you can park it in the designated area near the bathrooms. The gentleman taking orders at the front was straightforward but was overall helpful. read more

Whenever I've had bibimbap at other places there's a sauce in the rice or mixed into the dish, but this one didn't come with any. I went with the Yuchun Signature Set which included a variety of banchan, rice, soup and bulgogi for $25.99. I paid an upcharge to substitute kalbi as my choice of protein and it did not disappoint. Simply order at the kiosk and they'll call your number when your order is ready, but be forewarned that the tray can be on the heavier side when you pickup. The Signature Set is not the most affordable menu option, but it provides a balanced meal of Korean dishes and the portion size is hearty enough for leftovers. I'll def be back! read more

Their buckwheat noodles were springy and flavored so well with sesame oil, tangy vinegar, along with their sweet and spicy sauce. It came with slices of fresh cucumbers and radishes that made the dish refreshing. It had two pieces of sliced beef on top and an egg for protein. Yuchun in K-town LA is my all-time favorite restaurant, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a location in Irvine. When I arrived, I couldn't spot it right away and realized it was inside HMart. I was initially a bit skeptical since food court options are often hit-or-miss, but I decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, the cold noodles and dumplings were really good and tasted just like the ones from the K-town LA location. However, I did notice some differences in portion sizes, even though the prices were the same (or higher). In K-town, I usually can't finish more than half the noodles because the portions are so generous, but at the Irvine location, I finished the whole bowl without feeling overly full. The dumplings tasted great, but the filling wasn't as packed--there were noticeable gaps, making them feel a bit empty. If this location could improve its portion sizes, it would easily be a 5-star spot. And they really need to offer the free broth, just like the K-town LA Yuchun! Despite my comments on the quantity and broth, I'd still come back here if I couldn't make it to the K-town LA location. read more

Mul Naeng Myun on point as expected. I got the naeng myun + galbi combo to go and it was close to ~$36. It came with only 2 pieces of "LA style Galbj" Not sure if that's the standard or an error but $18 for 2 pieces seems like it should be Wagyu at least. But it wasn't. read more
