Braised Beef Brisket Noodle Soup
Aileen J.

On a dreary and rainy day, I like to order soup. A friend recommended this spot, and we've enjoyed the Kirin in Lake Forest (are they related? IDK), so we thought we'd stop by. We were seated immediately upon our arrival and were served cups of ice water. Hubby ordered hot black tea, but the iced jasmine tea only comes in bottles, so I declined. I ordered the Braised Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. The noodles had a good chew and there were lots of beef chunks. I was disappointed that the soup was only warm, not piping hot. Hubby chose the Kung Pao Chicken. The sauce was on the sweet side, but not unpleasant. We shared the House Special Dumplings. They come 10 to an order. The dumplings might be housemade--they are large with a thickish skin and the sauce has chopped peanuts. The shopping center has a surface lot. We found a space a few rows over. Fair prices for the portion sizes.

Open late - nice bonus Servers - nice Toothpicks and floss sticks - nice Music - not too loud, easy to have conversation Menu - good variety of foods Food - disappointing The beef noodle soup did not have beef flavoring at all, it was just hot water with chili oil in it. Noodle were boring, slightly over cooked The pan fried bao buns, not juice at all. Took 2p minutes to get them. The beef roll was just cold dishes wrapped in a pastry that was t pan fried it was like raw dough. Unexpected but we ate the foods, utilized the space to have late night conversations. We won't be coming back for the foods though.

Stopped by after a long school day while sick and needed something warm. The braised beef brisket noodle soup (spice level 3) really hit the spot -- rich broth, tender brisket, and a nice chili oil kick. Love that they're open late, which made it the perfect comfort meal when most places were already closed. Only small qualm: my order was ready earlier than expected but I didn't get notified, so it wasn't piping hot when I picked it up. Otherwise super delish. The ambiance inside was surprisingly chill, and now I want to come back and try dining in next time.

Orange chicken with lots of bell pepper in it (not supposed to be there)

Been coming here for over 6 months. Unfortunately the food is highly inconsistent from week to week. It's like they get a new chef every week. This past week someone decided to add a weird brown sauce and vegetable (bell pepper) on the orange chicken. Orange chicken usually doesn't have vegetable in it. They also decided to mix up the veggies and put it in other dishes. It's like having 4 restaurants in one. Unfortunately 3 are really terrible. Bring back the normal orange chicken!

SO DELISH!! Perfect combination of items- numbing chicken, sour soup, and decadent noodles. Quick and friendly service. Dumplings were undercooked when they came out but kitchen recooked. Sauce was really good!

We've been to the Kirin Noodles House in Lake Forest so we thought we'd try the Irvine location in the old He's Noodle Zone spot. Ordered a couple of dishes - pork wonton soup and the fish with pickled vegetable soup. The wonton was decent but the soup was quite peppery. The fish and pickled vegetables soup looked deceptively bland but had a burn to it. On the positive side, it was a huge portion for $16.98 and we even had leftovers of that fish soup to take home. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. I prefer their Lake Forest location. Business was pretty slow during a weekend lunch (He's did better business and they closed). Parking in the lot.

When we first came in, we saw that it was a quiet and calm atmosphere. It feels so peaceful and gives a very comfy vibe. We got seated and the kind waitress could probably feel we wanted more space and offered us to sit in the light with more space. Very thoughtful. We ordered the braised pork belly with noodle, xiao long bao (20 min to make), and sweet& sour pork with rice. It was pretty good! Would come back

One star for prices and portions, as well as friendly staff. Met my friend for a late dinner, and had to pick something open late. First time for both of us, and sadly our last. The dishes were lacking flavor, the beef wrap was wrapped in a room temperature flavorless tortilla. It was so odd, the first time I have seen an Asian beef wrap using a tortilla. The beef lacked flavor, the rice and noodles were very oily, not to mention bland. While we were there, we heard a clicking sound and noticed one of the servers leaning near the trash can, clipping her fingernails. We were speechless and just bewildered. I don't understand the five stars, because nothing was great.

Surprisingly this was a good Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant my friend I stumbled upon. We got the scallion pancakes, potstickers, braised pork rice, and beef chow fun and everything was tasty and good. I really liked how the fat in the braised pork rice just melts in your mouth. A great option if you're looking for a casual eats spot with authentic food.

Food here is very delicious!! The potstickers - pork & veggie (not pictured because I ate them so fast), were just amazing- so juicy!! Service is quick and friendly. Cute small interior but can fit a party of 10 if you call ahead.

Kirin Noodles House is one of unique restaurants located in Irvine, California. They offer Sichuan dishes along with northern noodles dishes. The vibe is clean, modern Chinese restaurant and opens late til 11:30pm! Service is very friendly. Although the kitchen does take its time. The dishes do come out looking good, smells good. Orange chicken is right amount of sweet, but not too thick with batter. Sichuan boiled fish is tasty. They are all generously sized and pricing is great too. It's a true gem in the neighborhood. Will be back to try noodle dishes.

It's hard to find good Chinese food in Irvine, so I'm glad this restaurant is nearby. If you're in the mood for some beef noodle soup then this is the place to go. They have the best beef noodle soup in the area in my opinion. The other dishes are also good. The braised pork had good flavor but the pork was a bit tough. The pan fried bao were delicious and hot! The only down side when I went was the service was a little slow. There was only one person doing everything in the front. Other than that I would still come back again for the good food.

I came here with 3 other people on a Tuesday evening - we had to wait a little since there weren't a lot of tables that can fit 4 people (a lot of 2 seaters though!) We ordered 5 dishes to share, which was honestly plenty (one person took home the entire chicken dish, which ironically came out last even though it was an appetizer). The fried rice was delicious, but had a lot of MSG I think (a little salty but awesome). Scallion pancake and potstickers were fairly standard and yummy. I would say the real winner was the beef noodles - the texture of the noodles, the flavor of the beef were very good. If I come back here I want to get this again for sure!! Overall a decent Chinese food place in Irvine. The prices were very reasonable, and the servers were attentive.

One unique aspect of their seasoning is the use málà (麻辣) or peppercorn. It can have a bit of a numbing sensation on the lips too! The Stir-Fried Lamb with Cumin 孜然羊肉, Onions and Scallions is super yum and the Ginseng Tea with Red Dates and Longan 红枣桂圆西洋参茶 is tasty, soothing and really has red dates and Longan inside. I've been to two locations and at both, service left much to be desired. Each time I go, after I order, you won't see your server again which is a bit of a shame in case you need something. To mitigate this, we have been ordering to go :-)

Leaving this review after an almost bad experience to help the restaurant or anyone else that may…read morehave eaten here today. 5 stars for fixing the problem immediately for us. We've been here several times before and what keeps us coming back is the quality of the food. Today, they had a new chef cook our food and it was terrible. Green beans were extremely sour (way way too much vinegar). Mapo Tofu had a ton of oil but not enough sauce, so it was just flavorless except the oil. The fried pork chop was over fried where some pieces you can't even bite through. The rice had too much water in it and was mushy. I rarely return food but this time it was so bad we had to let them know. We returned all of our dishes back to them. They let us know there was a new chef today, and they would remake all the dishes for us with the original chef. The replacement dishes were just as good as all our previous visits and it was excellent again! So thanks to the staff for fixing the problem. I'm not sure if they are training a new chef to take over, or as a backup, but they need to be careful as serving bad quality food like that would drive most people to never come back. We knew the food was good from prior experience, so we knew we could ask why the food quality changed. For first time customers, or those that may have ordered to go - if you had bad food today, it may have been a fluke due to the new chef. Service however was a amazing as usual. For all our visits including today, the staff has been kind and always looking for ways to help out and make sure we were having a good experience. So besides the food being good, I would say excellent service is also huge plus here. Don't be fooled with the automated ordering and robot delivering the food into thinking there is no service. The people behind the counter are awesome! Hope management takes care of this new chef issue quickly since their food quality is the main reason people come here. There was a night and day difference between the original food we got today, and the replacement!

Modern Chinese, Ancient Disappointment…read more EverSpring looks great, sounds great, and is priced like it plans to deliver something memorable. Unfortunately, what I'll remember most is how quickly my excitement turned into polite disappointment. The salt and pepper pork chops were...bold. And by bold I mean shockingly salty, like the chef was trying to preserve them for winter. I've had salt and pepper chops more times than I can count, and this version tasted nothing like any of them. Overcooked, oddly flavored, and just completely off. If this was a creative interpretation, creativity may have gone a step too far. Then there was the crispy beef. I say this with sincerity: it was inedible. Not "I'm picky" inedible--burned-breading-that-tastes-like-toasted-mistakes inedible. Each bite delivered a charming note of scorched regret, like someone deep-fried a crouton and called it a day. I stopped eating not because I was full, but because my taste buds filed an HR complaint. And look, if this were cheap comfort food, I'd shrug it off. But this is sit-up-straight-when-the-bill-arrives pricing. For what we paid, I expected at least one dish to make me say, "Okay, this works." That moment never came. The concept is solid, but the food just didn't deliver. I wanted to love it. My taste buds, however, requested an early exit. Everything went to the trash can. Never again.

This has long been our go-to for Taiwanese comfort food, and while the flavors weren't always 100% authentic, they hit the spot. However, our recent visits have been disappointing. The restaurant has become incredibly "penny-pinching" with their service. I was recently told there would be a $1 charge just for a sprinkle of scallions and another $1 for a small side of clear broth for my dry noodles--requests that were never an issue before. Furthermore, when we ordered extra noodles for my son's beef noodle soup, the original portion seemed intentionally smaller, defeating the purpose of paying for the add-on. Between the degraded service and the "nickel-and-diming" atmosphere, it is no longer worth the 30-minute drive. The vibe has changed, and the pleasure of dining here is gone.

(2/5) Golden prime beef noodle soup I'm sorry but this was just not for my taste at all I can't even describe what flavor the soup was something I have never had before very unique. The noodles were nice and chewy but again I'm expecting soup to be hot but it just came out warm. I ordered too much and the leftover beef rolls and pan fried dumplings reheated well in the air fryer.
