The beef was tender, the mushrooms went really well with it, and the black pepper sauce had a great savory flavor. The stir-fried green beans were another recommendation that did not disappoint. Great wok flavor and seasoning with just the right amount of crunch. The dumplings were good, but weren't really the standout for us. The bigger disappointment was the plum-braised pork belly. The flavor was good, but the pork wasn't nearly as tender as I expected pork belly to be and was a little underwhelming. Service was excellent and our waiter made a great first visit even better with his recommendations. The restaurant also has a nice, modern atmosphere. Overall, we had a great experience with some really good dishes, but the pork belly was a miss for me and I thought some portions were a little small for the price. What attracted me to JA Jiaozi was the colorful dumplings I saw on their Yelp reviews. I made reservations on Yelp. Super easy and convenient. That had my name already on their waitlist kiosk when I walked in. Salvador was our server and he was simply amazing! Very professional and courteous. We decided on a pot of chrysanthemum tea while we browsed their menu with beautiful pictures that helped me easily locate the Steamed Jiaozi Combo and identified the stuffing for each color. The interior is very nice. I also like the place settings with a nice sized bowl for sauces. I also enjoyed watching them make the dumplings. There were 4 people: one to portion the dough, one to roll out the dough into perfect circles, one to fill and make the dumplings, and one to steam the dumplings. Quite an operation! He was absolutely right as I got hooked on their Plums Braised Pork Belly that resembles and tastes like Filipino Adobo and Humba. We've been coming here for a while and usually really enjoy the food. The cold okra is my daughter's favorite and we order it every time. Unfortunately, our last visit tasted very different. The okra sauce was extremely salty and seemed like mostly soy sauce, without the sweetness or acidity it usually has. We asked for a replacement, but it tasted the same. Came here last night for take out on the way to my friend's. This being my first time here, it took me a few minutes to decide what would satisfy me and my partner's light dinner dumpling cravings. I also soaked in the clean, hippy interiors with the huge glass wall dividing the kitchen from the dining area - giving diners full view of the dumpling creation process. The colorful steamed Jiaozi Combo caught my attention and added the Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao. My To Go order included napkins but no chopsticks, but luckily my friend keeps a stash in her kitchen. Two sauces: one chili for the bao and one soy for the dumplings in small containers was just right amount and pairs perfectly with its respective fare. After we consumed our authentic Jiaozi and Xiao long bao, we both agreed to go back there next time and eat a proper meal - lunch or dinner. The restaurant looks brand new, very clean, and quite upscale with a modern vibe. The staff were okay nothing to complain about, service was polite and fairly efficient. As for the food, overall it was pretty solid. Most of the dim sum dishes were enjoyable, well-made, and reasonably priced. The only downside was the famous sour soup. This was actually my first time trying it here, and the sourness was surprisingly intense much stronger and quite different from what I've had at other places.
