This is a great place for when you're craving hearty soups and good comfort food!! All the entrees we ordered were SO flavorful, and the spicy ones have a good kick to them as well. Definitely try the side dishes, especially the Taiwanese sausages! Also the regular portion size says it's for one person but honestly was enough to feed 1-3 people haha! Service was great too--friendly and attentive staff, and everything came out pretty quickly.
Been wanting to try YONNY and so glad that they have a location in Irvine now! Love their suancai fish, the basa fish was tender, and I liked that it came with vermicelli. We also tried the spicy fish came with sliced potatoes and wide sweet potato noodles, which was another favorite. The golden soup beef was also really flavorful, with lots of pickled veggies and a savory, tangy, slightly spicy broth. We tried a few snacks as well, and everything was good, but the squid skewer was probably the biggest surprise! The cumin seasoning went really well with the squid, and the texture was perfect. Yonny might be our new go to spot as it checks off everything. It's open late, amazing delicious food, big portions and affordable. The rice cakes came out first so we snacked on that and it's chewy and warm and sweet from the syrup and soybean powder. I was a bit worried it would get cold and hard after our meal but it stayed chewy even after for a little dessert. We got the traditional suancai fish and that first bite is so addicting. The fish is so tender, it's packed with veggies, the soup is a bit tangy, and there's lots of noodles. It came with rice and the regular bowl was a big hefty size that we split it between two people. The peppercorns became a bit too much to eat towards the end so I just drank the broth with the rice.

We stopped in for dinner the other night. Parking is a little tight as there are a lot of other restaurants in the shopping center. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting. We started with spicy crispy pork that was delicious. Give me that and some rice and I am good. We also got a Taiwanese sausage that was a little sweet but still pretty good. The stars of the show are the fish soups. We got the Traditional Laotan Suancai Fish that was amazing. Lots of met in your mouth fish, vermicelli noodles and numbing peppercorn. We also got the Tom Yum Fish that was mildly spicy and filled with that same melt in your mouth fish and lots of vegetables. Both are so warm and comforting. We ended with brown sugar rice cakes and coconut lava balls. The rice cakes were sweet with a mochi like consistency. The coconut lava balls were delicious but they are piping hot so give them a chance to cool down a bit before pulling them apart or biting into them. Wonderful comfort food with great service will make this a spot to visit again and again!

My tongue going numb from the spices was a unique experience. For appetizers we ordered crispy pork, Taiwan sausage, coconut milk balls, and rice cake with brown sugar and they were all good!
I've always passed by this place on my way to the malatang next door and I finally decided to stop by when my friend wanted to try out their suancai yu aka Chinese sauerkraut fish. I honestly wish I had tried out this spot way earlier! It's so yummy. I highly highly recommend their signature hot-oil suancai fish and it's served with snakehead fish. I like adding some add-ons like their celtuce and glass noodle, but the portions are quite big. The regular portion feels like it's enough for two people, so not only is it delicious but it's pretty affordable. The suancai fish is a great dish to share with family or friends. It's fragrant and just a little spicy, enough to feel the tingliness on the tongue.
Stumbled here looking for dinner at 11pm. They are open till 1am and the service was good. The food is something I have never tried or even seen before. I tried the sauncai fish and crispy pork. The pork was super good and crunchy. Has nice seasoning with a bit of Szechuan peppercorn so had that tingling feeling. The fish was good as it had a sour taste to it but not a strong one. Had a good spice to it as well. First time trying suancai fish and did enjoy it. They have regular size and even that was a lot of food just for me.
I had an absolute amazing experience here. I have not personally really had this type of Chinese hot pot before, with fresh fish and huge flavors in the soup! Wow the staff were really nice, the place was clean! My first time having the Mao Xue Wang, and their signature traditional Laotan Suancai Fish. I love how there was some mala and sourness from the Vege with the fresh fish. I am getting hungry thinking about what I had. You can grab your own chopsticks and napkins from the drawers, you get rice included, and one pot is quite large. Three of us ordered 2 pots and it was already so much! I hope they will open towards the inland empire. I heard that they also have another location in ktown as well as special promos! Can't wait to come back and try some other dishes! Until next time
I finally stopped by to try Yonny and I'm glad I did! I tried the Signature Hot Oil Suancai Fish ($19.95), Traditional Laotan Suancai Fish ($17.95 + $2 for Snakehead), and Coconut Lava Balls ($6.95). I was afraid that both of these flavors would taste similar, but they weren't! Honestly, I don't know which one I liked more and will probably order both every time I come. If you like a more sour flavor, go with the Traditional Laotan Suancai Fish. I paid the premium to get that one with Snakehead Fish and I highly recommend doing that because it tastes so much better. I love that this place gives you rice with your order and you have the option to choose between white or purple rice. I felt the portion was great considering it was a take-out order. The Coconut Lava Balls were also really good and not too sweet. The restaurant itself looks nice for dining in. The one thing I was not a fan of was the lady who was working and only spoke Mandarin even though I was signaling how I do not understand what she's saying. She can apparently speak some English to another person who was picking up a DoorDash order, but when it came to me, it seemed like she expected me to understand her. Even when I was paying at the register, the screen was all written in Chinese... I didn't even know which button to click to say "pay" or "okay" and she just seemed annoyed that I was confused. For this, they lost a star. The food is good and I'll be coming back for that. I just hope that the next time I come, speaking Mandarin will not be an expectation of me.

You order by scanning the QR code at the end of the table and submitting it. Napkins and chopsticks are in the pullout drawer under the table, but they give the soup spoons when they serve you. If you order the large, you can share with another person since it comes with two bowls of rice. It's a much better price than ordering two different bowls separately. I'm gonna have to warn you that even if you can tolerate spice, I would rethink ordering the one with green peppercorns. I can handle Buldak noodles and medium level spice at malatang, but this soup almost ended me.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Shui Zhu Yu, but I thought I'd try something different today as Yonny had been on my radar ever since it opened a few months ago. I ordered their Laotan suancai fish (regular) for take out, and it did not disappoint! This was my first time ever trying this dish, and I was a bit nervous about the mustard greens, but this dish came together so nicely. It had the perfect amount of acidity and heat, and the slightly creamy broth was so addicting. I'm so glad I took the chance to try this dish that I've never tried before. I highly recommend anyone to try this restaurant, even if it's out of your comfort zone! I will definitely be back, and hopefully next time I will dine-in to get the full experience.
The bag said Fish with you as the name of this place but Yelp has a different name. It is next to Tea by do and the employee said the owner is the same for both places. I got a drink next door so they gave me a free appetizer. I got the snake fish with scallions flavored soup to try. It was very delicious. I ordered a medium and it was definitely enough to share with 2 people. It also came with a side of rice. Definitely will come back again.

Small but so bright and clean! The service is super friendly and nice. There is only one woman serving yet she makes sure everyone is well taken care of! The food is spot on delicious. Traditional flavors and dishes. The Laotan Sauerkraut Fish had the perfect level of spicy and sour so as not to overpower the fish. Also enjoyed the golden soup beef. It was a notch spiced but also well flavored and balanced. The Linyi chicken is super tender and flavorful. I would for sure recommend trying. Ended the meal with the coconut lava balls! I love a good Chinese fish dish and this place delivers! Ordering is easy with the QR code at the table and utensils and napkins can be found inside a drawer at your table. The whole restaurant was serviced by one friendly and efficient lady, so major kudos to her! If life feels a little spicy lately, YONNY Fish With You in Irvine will somehow make it better... by making it even spicier. They're known for their authentic Sichuan sauerkraut fish, and honestly, the broth is so rich, sour, and comforting that it feels like emotional support soup. The fish is super tender, the portions are huge, and suddenly sharing food becomes a trust exercise. People also love the crispy fried pork, stirred fried chicken, sliced beef sauerkraut and grilled octopus that somehow disappear before the table can agree to order another one. They're open until 1:30 AM too, because apparently healing and spicy food decisions both happen after midnight. Yonny is a Chinese chain famous for their suancai fish aka sauerkraut fish (which sounds kind of weird until I realized it was just fish with pickled cabbage). I came for lunch and was surprised to see that the restaurant was completely full, even though they just opened a few weeks ago. I ordered their most popular dish - Traditional Laotan Suancai Fish. It had a one pepper spice level, so I was a little worried it might be too much for me, but it turned out to be perfect. The regular bowl looks deceptively large and is a generously portioned for one person. Rice, either white or purple, comes with it. Loved the flavor of the dish. You can get it with basa fish or pay $2 for snakehead (I chose basa and was perfetctly happy). If you like that numbing peppercorn experience, there's their second most popular dish, the Green Peppercorn Suancai Fish (two pepper spice level), perfect for my husband. Service was attentive (though there are some kinks - they brought by a couple of dishes that weren't ours). The restaurant is very clean, bright and modern. They did a great job of remodeling the dark Indian restaurant that was here previously. While we were eating, my husband was already thinking about what he was going to order on our next visit. Yay no need to drive to Rowland! But the menu here is smaller in terms of apps $54?? For two meals and an app with leftovers ! Rice refills are free :0 Idk how healthy this is .. essentially it's fish hot pot, so there's a chance there's a good amount of salt in it, but I only drank two small cups of water ?? Wasn't that oily to me. Flavorful and light enough for Chinese food! I got #2 best seller, and tho it's good, their #1 is amazing! The broth for #1 is deeper/richer, almost like a beefy taste. Didn't seem that spicy compared to #2. The thicker flat mung bean noodles are delicious with the broth. #2 is a little more fresh/sour tasting but it wasn't overwhelming with tingle. I found mung bean noodles in mine and it went really well with the soup. For the fish, we went with the basa fish. Easy to eat! Excited to see a Yonny branch (also known as Fish With You at other locations) open here in Irvine! It's part of a popular global franchise known for modern Sichuan-style fish dishes. This style of Chinese food is bold and comforting, built around sour and spicy broths that are great on their own or paired with plenty of rice. It definitely has some heat though, so if you're spice-sensitive, be prepared (or be prepared to sweat a lot like I did lol). They're especially known for suāncài yú, a classic Sichuan dish featuring tender white fish simmered in a tangy broth made with pickled mustard greens, chili oil, and aromatics. We ordered Yonny's version (called "Signature Hot-Oil Suancai Fish" on their menu), and it absolutely delivered in both spice and flavor. We also tried the Mao Xue Wang dish, a hearty Sichuan stew loaded with meats, tofu, vegetables, and blood curd, all swimming in a chili-oil-heavy broth with a good amount of numbing heat. Since they've just opened, there's still a bit of chaotic soft-opening energy, but the food itself is very solid. They also offer takeout if you want to enjoy this at home. If you enjoy bold Chinese flavors, Yonny is a great new addition to Irvine, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. Side note: the plaza is quickly becoming a great food destination. Yoo's Place is right next door for great Korean comfort food, Frank's BBQ & Duck is just steps away for Cantonese roast meats, and YGF Malatang is right around the corner if you're craving something similarly spicy. read more

I dropped in here on a Sunday right in the middle of the day, and the place was completely packed. It is a tiny spot, but that is usually the best sign when it comes to authentic Szechuan food. The service is honestly what made the experience so great. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Even with every single table full, they went out of their way to check on everyone and genuinely cared that we were enjoying the food. You do not always get that kind of hospitality in busy restaurants. As for the food, the portions are huge and served in these massive bowls that are perfect for sharing. Everything is very reasonably priced, especially since it comes with rice. If you love heat, this is your place. The Szechuan spice level is legit, with that perfect numbing peppercorn kick that builds as you eat. The broth is incredibly flavorful, vibrant, and packed with a serious punch. Sauerkraut fish speciality store finally opened its Irvine location. Dishes come in two sizes, small is good for single person and large is recommended for 2-3 ppl. One Free rice per person. We ordered the sauerkraut fish in large with add on of vegetable and tofu skin. It was huge! Also tried the coconut curry fish which is full of southeast Asian flavor and golden soup beef slices with delicious broth. Both dishes are single serving but big enough to feed two people. Their soups are delicious and very big portions to share with your group. The Stir fried chicken is my favorite as it has so much flavor and i would definitely order it again. The service was quick and very attentive , even though they're a newer restaurant. They are running it well, can't wait to see it do as well as the Rowland Heights location.
